Networking isn't just a “nice to have” — it's directly tied to your promotions, paycheck, and how others perceive your value. In this episode, Erin sits down with speaker, author, and networking expert Julie Brown to unpack why networking is critical for your career growth and how to do it more effectively (and authentically). Julie brings the data, the tough love, and the practical steps — from small, doable actions you can take today to common mistakes that are sabotaging your efforts, including the two most boring questions that kill any conversation. If you've been avoiding networking or just going through the motions, this conversation will change the way you think about it. Some of the things you'll hear are:   1.) The hard cold stats on why networking is key to your success       2.) The small first steps you can take if you're not doing enough networking   3.) You've probably heard the phrase: “It's always the nice ones.” And maybe, like me, you once thought that was a compliment. But it's not. That phrase haunted me during my years in healthcare, whispered between nurses and doctors when patients who “did everything right” still ended up with the worst outcomes. And now, after years of working with high-achieving women as a hypnotist, I understand exactly why that happens. In this episode, I'm getting real about the hidden cost of being the nice one—the self-sacrificer, the peacekeeper, the one who puts everyone else first. I walk you through how people-pleasing and emotional suppression don't just exhaust you mentally… they actually impact your nervous system, your hormones, your immune response, and your genetic expression. Here's what we're diving into: Why N.I.C.E. = Neglecting Inner Compass Every day—and how that pattern forms How childhood conditioning wires us to seek validation through self-abandonment What chronic low-level stress does to your immune system, cortisol, and long-term health The real reason women get stuck in “doing what's expected” even when it makes them miserable Why it's not selfish to choose your joy—it's necessary for vitality This is about more than mindset. Your body knows when you're out of alignment. And the longer you override your intuition in order to be good, pleasing, or acceptable, the more strain you place on your system. I share how hypnosis helps clients release these subconscious patterns—whether it's perfectionism, over-giving, guilt, or the fear that they're only lovable when they're useful. You'll hear how even identity-level beliefs, like “I'm responsible for everyone's happiness,” can finally be released when the subconscious feels safe enough to let go. It's not about becoming someone new—it's about becoming who you were before the world told you to be nice.

Coach Mark Hickie (@MPHickie)  shares his powerful thoughts  “A message for today … When it's meant for you, it brings a sense of ease. It doesn't leave you questioning your worth or peace of mind. Your soul recognizes what is right for you by how it feels when you're in its presence. If it costs you your inner calm, it's too expensive.” There are some good things to take with us from this episode for sure. It reminds us that if things cost us our peace in life, it's probably something we don't need to connect with.  Thanks for listening.  Please take a few moments to subscribe & share this with someone, also leave a 5 Star rating on Apple Podcasts and ITunes or other services where you find this show.  Find me on Facebook:  https://www.facebook.com/coachtoexpectsuccess/   on Twitter / “X”:  @coachtosuccess   and on Instagram at:  @coachjohndaly  - My YouTube Channel is at: Coach John Daly.   Email me at: CoachJohnDalyPodcast@gmail.com     You can also head on over to https://www.coachtoexpectsuccess.com/ and get in touch with me there on my homepage along with checking out my Top Book list too.  Other things there on my site are being worked on too.  Please let me know that you are reaching out to me from my podcast.

You will be forced to make time for your illness. Read that again.”  This one really got me feeling like I need to have that intentional focus for my wellness. It's true, it's one or the other as our choices really do take us towards our wellness or illness. Great focus post for sure.
