For this episode, Jo & Vicky are joined by marketing expert Adam Ashburn, the co-founder of Test Tube Marketing. He explains why niching down is essential and shares a step-by-step method you can use to zero in on who your best customers are and work out the best way to reach them. KEY TAKEAWAYS Test Tube Marketing specialises in helping business owners to monetize their existing audience better. Simply tweaking your language, messaging, copy and sales funnel can boost your turnover by thousands. Don´t try to get it perfect, launch it, evaluate it, then tweak it until you get it right. You need to narrow your focus to broaden your appeal. If you try to be all things to all people you will end up appealing to fewer people. Adapt the language you use to suit the exact person to whom you are speaking. If your message is strong it will work across all platforms. Email marketing is key to success. Build long-term relationships with your clients. Define what your market is, determine what outcome you want and the position you need to take to get it. Always, always measure. If you don´t, you'll never work out what marketing works best for your audience. BEST MOMENTS ‘How can you test it cheap; how can you test it fast? ´ ‘The niching starts with you.' ‘Build an email list.' Test tubes are used for very different purposes in the laboratory. For example, reactions can be tested or small quantities of liquid can be stored in them and they are suitable for heating over a Bunsen burner, etc. A test tube is therefore - as I understand it as a layman - a test environment in which either presumptions can be verified and proven or new things can be tested in very small quantities. As far as I know, however, there is no test tube that is designed in such a way that it can be placed upright because it is round and therefore cannot stand upright. The round shape has the advantage that it is more stable than a rectangular shape and allows the test substances to be distributed more evenly. A holder is therefore required. This simple example shows me that, for all the greatness of such a jar, it is useless without a higher support. I think this also applies to our lives. I wish you an extraordinary day!
Jiabao's bioengineered clitoris is just the tip of what she's capable of as an artist, designer, inventor, and professor. From a stint at Harvard to China's 30 under 30 to TED talks on how technology mediates how we perceive reality, Jibao's multi-disciplinary approach to life flows into her art. She's able to pull from her experience at Google, founding experience of three companies, and numerous art exhibitions to bring innovative and unusual ideas to life. However, Jiabao Li was not always an artist. She studied to be an engineer, so let's go back to the beginning to her early life in Shenyang China. Learn more about your ad choices. Flying London to New York and back. 244 times every day. For half a year. That's the size of the carbon footprint of all the personal protective equipment used in health and social care in England during the first six months of the pandemic. So I take a look at how the NHS is going green including efforts to make a reusable facemask. Also, a shortage of vials for blood tests has GP Navjoyt Ladher asking whether we were testing too much anyway. PRESENTER: James Gallagher PRODUCER: Beth Eastwood
Drs. Elaine Beaulieu and Michael Country speak with Dr. Dillon Chung, a physiologist who focuses on the mitochondria of different animals. He's a comparative physiologist, which means he learns physiology by learning from a range of animals, letting them teach him their secrets. He's studied metabolism at the extremes: he's looked at hibernating 13-lined ground squirrels, which by some measures can drop their metabolism by 95-99%. On the other end of the spectrum, he's currently working on shrews - tiny mammals with metabolisms so high that some species may consume double their bodyweight in food every day. He especially focuses on mitochondria, and he currently works in a mitochondrial lab in the National Institutes of Health.
This week the team talks about supply problems affecting GP practices - namely delays to flu vaccine deliveries and the NHS-wide blood test tube shortage. They look at what these problems mean for practices and the knock on impact on patients. They also look at the state of the BMA and NHS England's relationship now that the BMA has agreed to restart formal talks after a five-month break. In our interview this week Luke speaks with Dr Ellie Reed, an F1 junior doctor in south west London, who is one of the doctors behind the Just a GP campaign that is aiming to tackle the stigma and prejudice in medical schools towards general practice. And finally we highlight some (sort of) good news on PCNs. We discuss NHS England's decision to defer much of the work that was due to begin in October, an increase in funding for network management and a possible change to the way funding for the Investment and Impact Fund works. This episode was presented by GPonline editor Emma Bower who is joined by our news editor Nick Bostock and senior reporter Luke Haynes. Mike: Yeah, I mean this is probably the only way anyone would ever be able to eat meat in space and actually we were invested in specifically by an investment firm that the focus is entirely on space because they know that this is kind of the only option so we're very, very excited to be the first fish in space. I do know that because of human polluted activities we're going to end up with more plastic in the ocean by weight than fish by 2050 is the estimate that I've seen. So that's like well within our lifetimes and at that point we're gonna have you know an ocean this completely filled with plastic like what are we going to do in order to get food from that? I think we should A: stop poisoning the ocean and B: start to move our food sources out of it.Matt: They're using cutting-edge cellular agriculture technologies to grow marine animals from cells creating fish and seafood around the world. It's the sci-fi future that's here today; delectable, healthy and great for the environment. In today's wide-ranging discussion will discuss the clean meat revolution and the end of animal agriculture, how Mike's company Finless Foods is growing fish in a laboratory - it's real, the exciting science of food tech, why people need to embrace GMOs, how agriculture is increasingly driving climate change, why we aren't far off from fully growing human usable organs, and how we’ll fuel humanity's rise and expansion in space. Without further ado, I give you Mike Selden. Just a quick note, we wanted to apologize for the audio on Mike’s side, we did the best we could. It got a little bit garbled up at times but it's easy to follow and incredibly valuable. Now I give you Mike Selden.Mike: Yeah so what we're doing is basically trying to give consumers a different choice than the one they're face...

It was June 16, 2015, when a 68yr old smug, arrogant, insecure, narcissistic, Test Tube baby declared his candidacy for the presidency of these United States of America. The announcement was filled with vile animus and hatred towards Latino’s, immigrants, and other foreign and domestic ethnic groups of color. His language was filled with race baiting rhetoric that stoked the fears of many American’s now willing to embrace that fear tactic and support the dangerous path of this man. American’s must ask themselves, which America do they want to live in, a Post-Civil Rights Movement or a Post-Donald Trump. My guest is Trump supporter and District of Columbia Ward 7 ANC Commissioner, Greg Stewart.
Dick Cavett shares a great story about the legendary Jack Benny, while the Institute is closed for Freshman Orientation. We'll be back with a full new episode next week.

This lecture explains how my participation in making some videos for the University of Nottingham's 'test-tube' YouTube channel led to collaboration with the video-journalist Brady Haran, and the creation of the YouTube channel, The Periodic Table of Videos. Beginning as a collection of 120 videos (one for each of the elements of the Periodic Table, plus introduction), it gathered momentum and now has about 600 uploaded videos, 790,000 YouTube subscribers and more than 130 million views in over 200 countries. Its evolution and success will be explained. The transcript and downloadable versions of the lecture are available from the Gresham College website: https://www.gresham.ac.uk/lectures-and-events/from-test-tube-to-youtubeGresham College has been giving free public lectures since 1597. Body Image and Daylight Savings Time: Space Control Vs. Time Control We were feeling frisky this time, possibly because of the Daylight Savings Time change that happened the night before. The opening 15 minutes includes some collages by a new contributor, Rev. Carlton, and a classic Father Joe Mama rant. "The LUV of "Bob." Also, the Wolfman gets counselling in a clip from THE HOUSE OF DRACULA. But then we go live, and Dave calls in, and it gets pretty darned cosmical and Time-Control-y. Stang reads a short rant on DST by Rev. Zafod. The marvels of Creationism are discussed at length. Dave reveals that he has the DNA of Jesus in him, which leads to a discussion of possibly isolating that God gene, cloning God, then sending Him back in time to stop the Big Bang from happening and thus allowing PURE Slack to continue forever. Or something. Oh and TUROK, SON OF STONE is fully analyzed. Yet another British hard rock version of THE BRAG OF THE SUBGENIUS is played.
