Nick is joined by Kurt Stein, an IT consultant and digital transformation expert, to talk about the impact of AI on entrepreneurship and business, particularly in a rapidly changing landscape. Kurt emphasises the importance of embracing AI as an enabler rather than a threat, highlighting the need for businesses to adapt and innovate quickly. They delve into various AI tools and platforms, such as Microsoft Copilot and Descript, that can enhance business operations and efficiency, and touch on the significance of effective prompting in utilising AI tools and the necessity for businesses to build an AI-first culture to stay competitive in the evolving market.  KEY TAKEAWAYS It is crucial for businesses to embrace AI as an enabler of growth and innovation, rather than a threat. To excel in using AI tools effectively, continuous learning and practice are essential. Start small, experiment, and refine your prompts. Utilising tools like Microsoft Co-Pilot can significantly impact businesses by enabling AI capabilities within existing systems. Explore a variety of AI tools such as Descript, u.com, OpenAI, VEED.io, and WordTune to enhance productivity and efficiency in different business functions. Improving prompting skills is key to maximising the potential of AI tools. Practice, follow experts, and take relevant courses to enhance prompting abilities. BEST MOMENTS "If you want to go run a marathon, you don't just put on a pair of sneakers and just start running. You're going to hurt yourself. You're going to make a lot of mistakes. You're going to do everything wrong."  "The prompting really is the key. You don't have to be a computer engineer or a computer scientist in order to do that. So let that fear go away. You can actually work with it. You can be very successful with it."  "It's not AI that's going to kind of, you know, kill your business or kind of stop your employment. It's someone who knows how to use it better."  "So the one thing that's kind of level things as well is Microsoft, is Google. Microsoft more so. Google stumbled in the beginning with some of the things they were doing." What are the big mistakes Matthieu made on prior companies that he did differently with PhotoRoom? What does Matthieu know now that he wishes he had known when he started PhotoRoom? 2. Scaling to $20M in ARR with $2M of Cash: What allowed Matthieu and PhotoRoom to be so capital-efficient in their scaling? What are the biggest mistakes founders make when it comes to resource allocation and capital efficiency? On reflection, what did Matthieu not spend money on that he wishes they had spent money on? 3. Consumer Subscription + Photo Editing: Is it a Good Business: What are the customer acquisition costs by channel for PhotoRoom? What are their payback periods on a per-customer basis? How can it be a good business when the churn rate annually is 30-40%? How does this space play out with Canva, Adobe, Veed, Kapwing? Who wins? 4. The Future of AI: Who wins; incumbents or startups? What matters more; data size or model size? Will UI be more or less important in an AI-first world? Why does Matthieu believe that everyone hates command line prompts? Will we see $BN revenue companies created with just 10 people?

Learn why video is the first thing people see when they wake up in the morning If you want to get people excited about your podcast and expand your organic reach, you may want to add a video component to your marketing strategy. With video, you can cut together clips and trickle them across your social media channels. If you haven't noticed, a lot of the top podcasters have been using this strategy for a few years and it's paid them dividends. Travis Brown told me something a few months ago that stuck in my head. People don't wake up in the morning and start searching Apple Podcasts and Spotify for podcasts they want to listen to that day. They wake up and start scrolling social media, and video is one of the first things they see in the morning. You want to be right there in front of them. Video really can grow the awareness of your podcast. Creating video clips may sound intimidating, but Veed makes the process incredibly easy. Veed has a range of tools for customizing videos, such as adding SFX, music, graphics, captions, emoji,s and more. Vincent Wei is the Head of Growth (Product & growth) at VEED.IO, one of the fastest growing startups by revenue in the world. He was first introduced to the world of startups when he began CodeCreate, one of Australia's first coding school for kids, while still at university. The school generated 6-figure revenue but his next startup unfortunately didn't do so well.Burnt out, Vincent decided to take a break and travel the world before returning as Employee #3 on the growth team at AirTasker - which later became one of Australia's largest marketplace for services. That was no mean feat, given that the startup was burning $35 million annually and on the verge on collapse then! They managed to turn the startup around but Vincent left before AirTasker IPOed in 2021 (and we discuss why in this episode!) to join VEED.io - the Canva of video editing - as Head of Growth.
