In this gripping second part of Episode 254 of the Mike Drop podcast, host Mike Ritland sits down with former Green Beret Mark Gianconia to explore his extraordinary career in special operations. Unlike many post-9/11 operators, Mark's journey began in Kosovo, working alongside Russian forces in a vastly different operational landscape. Returning just before the 9/11 attacks, Mark shares his visceral reaction to the tragedy and how it propelled his unit into action. This episode takes you deep into his covert missions in Iraq, including the daring Advanced Force Operations (AFO) infil via rental cars from Turkey and the intense Operation Viking Hammer against terrorist strongholds like Ansar al-Islam. Expect raw, firsthand accounts of unconventional warfare, coordination with Kurdish allies, and the chaos of combat in the early days of the Iraq War. From dodging mortar fire to orchestrating airstrikes, Mark's stories offer a vivid window into the high-stakes world of special forces during a pivotal moment in history. It's Thursday, August 28th, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 140 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com.  I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark and Adam McManus International plea to release 7 pastors in Eritrea, Africa A consortium of charities is calling for the release of seven pastors in Eritrea who have been imprisoned for over 20 years. Since 2002, the East African nation outlawed many religious practices. Thousands of people have subsequently faced imprisonment, including Protestants. A country expert told Open Doors, “Anything done by any churches or its members [which is] seen as a threat to the absolute control currently in place will be subjected to punishment.” Eritrea is known as the “North Korea of Africa.” The government infamously holds some prisoners in shipping containers. Eritrea is ranked sixth on the Open Doors' World Watch List of the most difficult places to be a Christian.   Evangelical churches in Spain on the rise Evangelical Focus reports that Evangelical churches are the most numerous of “minority” religions in Spain. Evangelical churches now account for 56% of non-Catholic places of worship in the Catholic-majority country. The second most numerous minority religion is Islam. Muslims have the most places of worship in smaller municipalities with less than 5,000 inhabitants. Meanwhile, Evangelical churches are more numerous in municipalities with 5,000 to 100,000 people.  Twisted trans killed 2 Catholic school students, injures 17 Tragically, a twisted transgendered psychotic, 23-year-old Robert Westman, who pretended to be female, shot and killed two children yesterday morning at 8:30am at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis, Minnesota, reports The Blaze. The dead kids were 8 and 10 years old. Another 17 people were injured, including 14 children between the ages of 6 and 14, and three adults who ere all parishioners in their 80s. 10-year-old Weston Halsne, a fifth grader, described the deadly school shooting he witnessed at the beginning of the Catholic mass. HALSNE: “Yeah, it was like, maybe, like three minutes in, the first shot fired. … They shot through the stained glass windows, I think. And it was really scary. It was, like, right beside me. I was, like, two seats away from the stained glass windows. The shots were, like, right next to me. I think I got, like, gunpowder on my neck.” REPORTER: “When you heard the shots, what went through your head?” HALSNE: “The first one, I was, like, ‘What is that?' And when I heard it again, I just ran under the pew, and then I covered my head. My friend Victor, like, saved me, though, because he laid on top of me. My friend got hit in the back. He went to the hospital.” REPORTER:  “What went through your mind when you saw that?” HALSNE: “I was super scared for him, but I think now he's okay.” REPORTER:  “What do you want to say to your friend who helped protect you?” HALSNE: “He's really brave, and I hope he's good in the hospital. I'm praying for you.” The man, who legally changed his name from Robert to “Robin” in 2020, then killed himself. President Donald Trump responded immediately on Truth Social. He wrote, “I have been fully briefed on the tragic shooting in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The FBI quickly responded and they are on the scene. The White House will continue to monitor this terrible situation. Please join me in praying for everyone involved!” Earlier yesterday morning, Robert Westman allegedly released a deeply disturbing 11-minute-long YouTube video which I watched in its entirety. Amidst the profanity, he featured a picture of Jesus in the middle of a shooting target and a crudely drawn map of the church where the mass would take place. Westman revealed a massive amount of ammunition and long guns displayed on the bed, which were covered in his own white sharpie graffiti. As he narrated the video in a series of almost demonically-driven voices, he panned guns with the words “Where is your God?” and “For the children” and “No remorse” and “Rip and tear” scrawled across the guns.  Other egregious messages include “6 million wasn't enough” and “Kill Trump now.”  The shirt which he planned to wear during his forthcoming shooting rampage said, “Let's do this before the anxiety kicks in.” Isaiah 59:7 says, “Their feet rush into sin; they are swift to shed innocent blood. They pursue evil schemes; acts of violence mark their ways.” West Virginian parents allowed to opt kids out of vaccines West Virginia's Republican Governor Patrick Morrisey signed an executive order earlier this year to protect religious freedom and parental rights.  The order allows parents to opt out of schools' vaccination requirements on religious grounds. Not surprisingly, the leftist American Civil Liberties Union issued a legal challenge. Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced his support for the order on Monday. He wrote on X, “I urge state legislators to support the Governor's leadership and protect these fundamental rights. At @HHSgov, we will enforce conscience protections and defend every family's right to make informed health decisions.” Texas public schools will display Ten Commandments On Monday, Texas Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton ordered public schools in the state to display the Ten Commandments. A recent court order blocked some school districts from displaying the Ten Commandments. But Paxton has ordered all districts not affected by the litigation to have the displays up by next week. Paxton wrote, “From the beginning, the Ten Commandments have been irrevocably intertwined with America's legal, moral, and historical heritage. … The woke radicals seeking to erase our nation's history will be defeated. I will not back down from defending the virtues and values that built this country.” In Deuteronomy 6:6-9, God said, “And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. … You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.” Cracker Barrel keeps logo but pushes sexual perversion And finally, Cracker Barrel announced Tuesday it will keep its classic logo after significant backlash. The restaurant chain planned to sanitize its logo by removing the famous “old timer” figure leaning against a barrel. The drawing is based on Uncle Herschel McCartney, the real uncle of Cracker Barrel founder Dan Evins.   The company's stock dropped nearly $100 million last week in response to the rebranding.   President Donald Trump praised the decision to keep the classic logo. So did U.S. GOP Congressman Byron Donalds, a Republican representative for Florida.  He wrote on X, “In college, I worked at @CrackerBarrel in Tallahassee. I even gave my life to Christ in their parking lot. Their logo was iconic and their unique restaurants were a fixture of American culture. No one asked for this woke rebrand. It's time to Make Cracker Barrel Great Again.” D.C. Draino tweeted, “Oh, and keep the original interiors. We want to eat in Grandma's home, not Grandma's nursing home.” And Brandon Wilinkson, who featured screenshots of Cracker Barrel's LGBTQ+ Alliance logo, tweeted, “You want us to come back?  Scrap the woke DEI-pandering policies and fire the CEO. Until that happens, my family won't be coming back. You forget who your customers are. They aren't woke liberals in the cities. It's regular, working-class Americans that still hold traditional American values!” Close And that's The Worldview on this Thursday, August 28th, in the year of our Lord 2025. Follow us on X or subscribe for free by Spotify, Amazon Music, or by iTunes or email to our unique Christian newscast at www.TheWorldview.com.  I'm Adam McManus (Adam@TheWorldview.com). In its first edition, this book focused on the representations of Islam that circulated in the wake of the 9/11 attacks – representations that scholars, pundits, and politicians alike used either to essentialize and demonize it or, instead, to isolate specific aspects as apolitical and thus tolerable faith. This little book's larger thesis therefore argued for how the classifications that we routinely use to identify and thereby negotiate our social worlds – notably such categories as “religion” or “faith” – are explicitly political. The new edition of Religion and the Domestication of Dissent: Or, How to Live in a Less Than Perfect Nation (Routledge, 2025), which updates the first and adds a new closing chapter, continues to be relevant today – a time when assertions concerning supposedly authentic and homogenous identities (whether shared by “us” or “them”) continue to animate a variety of public debates where the stakes remain high. Thinking back on how Islam was often portrayed in scholarship and popular media in western Europe and North America offers lessons for how debates today unfold on such topics as Christian nationalism – a designation now prominent among pundits intent on identifying the proper and improper ways in which religion intersects with modern political life. But it is this very distinction (between religion and politics) that ought to be attracting our attention, if we are interested not in which way of being religious is right or reasonable but, instead, in determining why some social groups are known as religious in the first place. Seeing the latter question as linked to studying how socially formative categories function in liberal democracies, Religion and the Domestication of Dissent offers an anthropology of the present, when the longstanding mechanisms of liberal governance seem to be under threat. Russell T. McCutcheon is University Research Professor and, for 18 years, was the Chair of the Department of Religious Studies at the University of Alabama, USA. His publications include a variety of works on the history of the field, the everyday effects of the category “religion,” along with a number of practical resources for scholars, teachers, and students. 8/26/25 - Why Are Americans Turning Away from the Democrat Party?

    Mark Levin Podcast

On Tuesday's Mark Levin Show, the question media pundits keep asking: what is happening to the democrat party? What happened is that the people have learned a great deal about the Democrat Party and its ideologies over the years and they don't like it. Ideas do have consequences. Educating and reading remain crucial. Unfortunately, too many people with microphones and TV cameras have forgotten about this. Scholarship, history, philosophy still matter. They have always mattered. It's called getting back to basics. Getting back to our founding principles, beliefs, and values, and exposing those who seek to pervert, undermine, and destroy them. The Democrat Party is struggling and failing because it stands for virtually everything most Americans reject. Also, the American people elected President Trump in a massive landslide, saving the country from four more years of destructive policies like open borders, anti-military degradation, and campus marches chanting "from the river to the sea." We should not be complacent in the midterms. Also, the U.S. has offered to provide intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance (ISR), command and control, and air defense assets to support a European-led security plan for postwar Ukraine, including participation in an air shield and no-fly zone enforcement. This includes US aircraft, logistics, and radar to enable European troop deployments, while monitoring ceasefires via superior satellite capabilities. This is necessary. Later, Democrats support violent criminals, while Trump is quickly controlling crime in Washington, D.C., by enforcing the law with police backed by the National Guard. Finally, by 2040 Islam could surpass Judaism as the nation's second-largest religion. America's Christian foundations—rooted in individual liberty, personal responsibility, and devotion to God—are eroding due to silence and fear. Learn more about your ad choices. Episode Summary: What happens when we reduce the church's mission to saving souls while neglecting culture? In this episode, Scott Allen and teammates, Luke and John, share the story of how the Disciple Nations Alliance grew out of a moment of repentance over thirty years ago—a moment that sparked a vision to equip local churches as God's primary agents for discipling nations, not just growing congregations. In light of this vision, we believe there is a unique opportunity for the Church today, as we sit at a pivotal civilizational moment. We are witnessing an unlikely resistance to the four powerful ideological “waves”—Marxism, sexual revolution, radical Islam, and corrupt Western elitism—that are seeking to reshape societies around the world. Surprisingly, this resistance is being led outside the Church, as prominent secular thinkers rediscover the neglected message of Christianity and boldly point out that biblical principles provide the foundation for free and just societies. In this conversation, we reflect on how to promote this crucial message and what it truly means to embrace Christ's lordship over every sphere of life. We call the Church to repent from a narrow understanding of mission and reclaim our role in transforming culture. Through personal stories, biblical insights, and practical vision, we invite you to discover how the Church can disciple nations and create societies that reflect God's character.Who is Disciple Nations Alliance (DNA)? Since 1997, DNA's mission has been to equip followers of Jesus around the globe with a biblical worldview, empowering them to build flourishing families, communities, and nations.

A new season of podcast episodes is starting and what better place to kick it off as the world's largest business and management conference. We are recording this episode at in beautiful Copenhagen, made possible through a generous invite from who organized a recording studio for us. Being here amid symposia, professional development workshops, panels, and paper presentations makes us wonder: what does it take to produce great, stimulating, and productive academic discourse? Does it depend on the people that get invited to speak, is it about their ideas, or what else? We sit down with our friend with whom we share some stories from the events we've attended at AOM and we distil a few rules that characterize good intellectual debate: let there be cognitive conflict about the merit of ideas, be bold enough to propose new ideas, show humility for the craft and work of others, and be respectful to your colleagues.     Episode reading list Kulkarni, M., Mantere, S., Vaara, E., van den Broek, E., Pachidi, S., Glaser, V. In this episode, we explore the fragile balance of power during the later years of the Umayyad Caliphate under Caliph Hisham ibn Abdul Malik. Between 112–114 AH (731–733 CE), the empire faced crushing defeats on nearly every frontier. Yet Hisham refused to abandon his policy of ceaseless expansion. Temporary truces bought the Caliphate breathing room, but soon the armies were back in motion—sometimes roaring, sometimes limping—toward new campaigns. From 115–120 AH, the Umayyads managed a partial comeback. Victories against the Turgesh in Central Asia, renewed advances in Sindh, and territorial gains in France seemed to restore momentum. But these successes often proved hollow. Each campaign drained the Caliphate's coffers and manpower, leaving little capacity to improve life for its citizens. Meanwhile, internal cracks widened. The Mawali, non-Arab converts to Islam, increasingly protested an unjust tax system. Tribal rivalries were deliberately stoked by Hisham to maintain control, while provincial governors hoarded wealth, tortured predecessors, and entrenched corruption. Rather than strengthening the empire, these policies steadily weakened it. Every battlefield gain came at the cost of domestic stability. As the pressure mounted, the Umayyads were unknowingly laying the groundwork for their own downfall—making it easier for another movement to rise and challenge their rule. Join us as we examine this turbulent period of fleeting victories, deepening unrest, and the first signs of the empire's unraveling.

What does it mean to follow Jesus in one of the most dangerous places in the world? How do believers live out their faith in Gaza—caught between Hamas, Israeli forces, and deep cultural hostility? This week, Alex and Scott sit down with Pastor Hanna Massad, former pastor of Gaza Baptist Church, to hear his firsthand story of shepherding believers in a context of persecution, poverty, and war. Pastor Hanna shares the history of the Christian presence in Gaza, the challenges of ministering in “three fires,” and how even today the small evangelical community continues serving their neighbors with food, water, and the hope of Christ. Together, they explore the heartbreaking realities of life in Gaza, the opportunities for the gospel in the midst of conflict, and the importance of remembering our brothers and sisters in Christ who suffer far from the world's headlines. Stages of Seeking Knowledge Every Muslim Must Know | Ustadh Abdulrahman Hassan #AMAU

So many Muslims today are passionate about studying Islam. But let's be real: most of us start off the wrong way. We binge random lectures on YouTube, scroll through reminders on Instagram, or even ask ChatGPT to explain complex issues, thinking that's enough to make us grow. Others jump from one book to the next with no plan, memorise nothing, never revise, and want to dive into evidences and differences of opinion from day one. But that's not how the scholars sought Islamic knowledge. And that's not the path that leads to understanding. In this lesson, Ustadh Abdulrahman Hassan shares the blueprint for seeking knowledge the right way: sincerity before anything else, the Qur'an as your foundation, teachers over self-study, and the gradual stages every student must pass through. He explains the dangers of skipping ahead, why structure is more important than hype, and how true knowledge should raise you in rank with Allah when it's paired with action. If you've ever felt unstructured, stuck, or unsure how to move forward, this is the roadmap you've been missing. We live in a time where Muslims can lift 200kg at the gym but struggle to lift a blanket for Fajr. Where hearts drown in endless scrolling, doubts, and desires. Where practising Islam is mistaken for harshness, or where perfection is demanded until people burn out and give up. But Allah never asked you to be perfect. He asked you to be steadfast. To have Istiqamah. What does that really mean today? How do you stay on the straight path when temptations, distractions, and pressure to imitate others are everywhere? How do you protect your heart and actions - the very things Allah looks at - when they're being pulled in every direction? In this 45-minute talk, Ustadh Abdulrahman Hassan uncovers the reality of Istiqamah: - Why it's a gift only Allah can give, not something you earn on your own. - Why consistency matters more than perfection. - How desires grow into doubts, and doubts into leaving the Deen. - Why gentleness attracts hearts more than harshness. - How your steadfastness today decides your footing on the Sirat on the Day of Judgement. If you've ever fallen, struggled, or wondered whether you're “good enough” to stay firm on this Deen, this is for you. It's often touted that Rumi is one of the best-selling poets in the United States. That may be the case but popular renderings of the writings of this 13th-century Muslim have largely detached him from the Islamic tradition, and specifically Sufi mysticism. In Radical Love: Teachings from the Islamic Mystical Tradition (Yale University Press, 2018), Omid Safi, Professor of Islamic Studies at Duke University, places Jalal al-Din alongside luminaries within the rich archive of Islamic Sufi poetry. In this anthology of newly translated poetry Safi focuses on love, especially ‘ishq/eshq, what he renders as “radical love.” The volume organizes translations of Qur'an and Hadith, Sufi mystics and poets into four thematic sections: God of Love, Path of Love, Lover & Beloved, and Beloved Community. Radical Love does an excellent job of introducing readers to key ideas from Islamic mysticism that are rooted in first hand knowledge of Arabic and Persian texts. This book is valuable to both the scholar and the student because of Safi's informed nuance in both the careful selection of source passages and the subtle lyricism of his translations. In our conversation we discussed the translation of Sufi poetry in English, strategies to translation work, love in the Islamic tradition, the reception of Rumi, Ahmed Ghazali's first book in Persian on love, Qawwali singers, contemporary sheikhs, and several key Sufis authors. Drawing from his recent experience at a pastors' summit, Rob shared a candid anecdote about a disruptive individual who monopolized time with confusing ideas, illustrating the dangers of division within the body of Christ. He unpacked Romans 16:17–20, urging the congregation to “mark” those who cause division and offenses, not to shun them hastily but to address issues with humility and biblical wisdom, as outlined in Matthew 18. Rob's message, rooted in Godspeak's anchored reading program, highlighted the church's unique strength in fostering unity amidst cultural challenges, including rising tensions over issues like Islam. He closed with a prayer for humility and peace, reinforcing the church's mission to serve with love and resolve conflicts biblically, ensuring a fellowship that stands firm against the enemy's schemes.Reference VersesEcclesiastes 11 verse 5, Romans 16 verses 1–27, Ezekiel 37, Matthew 18 verses 15–17, Ephesians 4 verses 3–6, Acts 20 verses 28–31, Titus 3 verses 8–11, Philippians 2 verses 3–8Make sure you subscribe to this channel and follow us on all our platforms to always stay up to date with our latest content! And you can always head over to our website for any general information!https://godspeak.comPrayer/NeedsIf you have any needs, or have a willingness to be used to meet various need in the body, please email info@godspeak.com. Jim does that each week on these News Round-Up broadcasts. Here are several examples featured from the first quarter hour: --Jim began with a number of audio clips. The first dealt with an individual openly admitting that Muslims must destroy empires such as the U.S. Next, an Islamic scholar spoke on why he believes that no sane person can love the U.S. A third came from a Muslim civil rights attorney and former director for the Florida chapter of the Council on American/Islamic Relations who discussed the role of Muslims in America on the issue of dawah. This involves converting people to Islam. --Top Trump administrative officials are drafting plans to restrict both temporary visit and legal immigration by Muslims affiliated with the revolutionary Muslim Brotherhood and other extremist groups. --President Trump said that Ukraine would have to continue attacking targets inside Russia if it hoped to win the war, even as Moscow unleashed a massive, new bombardment on Ukrainian cities. --Russia disavows every advance anyone thought was made in Alaska and the D.C. meetings. Russia has vetoed the idea that European troops could be used as peacekeepers. Beyond that, Russia demands that they be given a role in guaranteeing Ukraine's security and deciding how violations are dealt with. --North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un today appeared to acknowledge for the first time that the troops he sent to fight Ukraine for Russian President Putin have suffered losses en masse.

On today's episode of Good Guy / Bad Guy, Chael & DC continue the conversation centered around the new UFC Middleweight champion, Khamzat Chimaev. Following his win vs Dricus Du Plessis, Khamzat told Chael that he should be the #1 Pound-4-Pound fighter in the UFC… Well, he came in at #4 this week, so do the guys believe that is the correct ranking or should he be higher? Khamzat Chimaev. Merab Dvalishvili. Kayla Harrison. These are just a few names that are UFC champions and their background is in wrestling. So that got DC + Chael thinking… Are we in the “era of the wrestler” in the UFC right now? Plus, what is the biggest fight the UFC can make right now; Khamzat vs Islam or Islam vs Ilia? Sticking with matchmaking, with two big fights booked at middleweight, who will come out the #1 contender? And, on the heels of the WWE x ESPN partnership announcement starting on September 20th with WWE Wrestlepalooza, WWE Superstar Bronson Reed joins the show! Learn more about your ad choices. What does it mean to have character in a world that doesn't care? Or even worse: platforms and incentivizes a LACK of character?  If anyone should know, it's a retired four-star General whose career ended in resignation. In this episode, Russell talks with General Stanley McChrystal, former commander of U.S. and coalition forces in Afghanistan and author of On Character: Choices That Define a Life. They discuss the Rolling Stone article that ended McChrystal's military career, why his wife's single-word reaction changed the trajectory of his life, and how character is shaped over decades by family, mentors, mistakes, and moral decisions under pressure.  Along the way, McChrystal shares his thoughts on why the U.S. needs a mandatory service year as a way to heal divisions, how leadership choices prevented a hostile environment toward Islam in the United States, and his process for making difficult decisions of national importance. Plus, hear a retired four-star general give his take on the tensions in the Middle East and what should be done to ease them. You don't need to be weighing options of national security to appreciate this conversation — If you're weary of living in an era that excuses a lack of integrity and honor in its leadership, this conversation may give you hope that it's possible to bring those back.
