In this episode, I talk to the actor, writer and journalist, KATE COPSTICK. Copstick is one of the best-known comedy critics and at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.  She was a Perrier Comedy Award judge in 2003 and 2004.  She was also a Malcolm Hardee Award Judge from 2008 to 2015 and she is a regular critic to The Scotsman newspaper. Nobody approved of this very bad plan but it made Jamie funny, as most trauma does! Speaking of trauma, Jamie has also publicly talked about depression, anxiety, suicide attempts, rock bottoms, affairs, divorce, and soft cancelations.After being discovered by Paul Provenza (The Green Room and The Aristocrats), Jamie was quickly flying around the world performing at world-famous comedy and arts festivals, including: the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the Melbourne Comedy Festival, the Sydney Comedy Festival, Bumbershoot in Seattle, Lowlands Music Festival in Amsterdam, and Latitude in London. He's done standup in Hong Kong and Beijing, and co-headlined with Reggie Watts at the Sydney Opera House and Lakeshore Theater in Chicago.He was the first comedian to appear on Montreal's Just For Laughs prestigious New Faces in 2007 and returned the next year with his own solo show alongside Bill Burr and Patrice O'Neal. Katharyn began doing stand up comedy in New York City where she worked her way to regularly hosting and performing nightly throughout the five boroughs. She has been seen regularly at venues including but not limited to New York Comedy Club, Gotham Comedy Club, Broadway Comedy Club, The Stand, and The Comic Strip as well as countless backs of bars, windowless basements, rooftops, and bathroom stalls. Currently based in London, Katharyn MC's and performs regularly at Top Secret Comedy Club, Vauxhall Comedy Club, Up the Creek among other clubs, dives, and holes-in-the-wall throughout the UK. Outside of stand up, Katharyn co-hosts the podcast "This American Irish Life" with husband and fellow comedian Mark O'Keeffe.Katharyn has performed in multiple Edinburgh Fringe's receiving excellent critical review for both her performance and her debut hour "Ew Girl, you Nasty." Michael D'Angelo is a hard working ex-military comedian who had the best cunninglingus joke at the Fringe 2019 (Kate Copstick said so!) and he's incredibly handsome to boot. But things haven't always been easy—he joined the military because he found it more relaxing and stable than his home life and lived in his car while trying to pursue his dream in stand up. And, if you like that, there’s something wrong, because life’s not about sedation; life’s about engagement and connection. Heroin is the opposite of both of them. Kate Copstick (or Copstick as she prefers to be known) is the head comedy reviewer at the Scotsman Newspaper during the Edinburgh Fringe. She's been a reviewer for 20 years and has judged several comedy awards. Outside of reviewing she co-runs the The Grouchy Club podcast with daily comedy blogger John Flemming and writes for the Erotic Review (a magazine she purchased over a decade ago).
