Choosing a partner is one of the few decisions that impacts every area of your life. In this episode, Jason Khalipa and Nick Koumalatsos discuss why relationships matter so much, how resentment quietly damages marriages, and what it takes to build a partnership that lasts. Before diving into relationships, Nick shares the unlikely story of how he became involved with Marvel's The Punisher and what it was like helping bring the iconic character of Frank Castle to the screen. From there, the conversation explores the deeper themes behind the character, including loss, responsibility, purpose, and the consequences that come from the choices we make.As the discussion shifts to marriage and family, Jason and Nick unpack the importance of choosing the right partner, navigating resentment before it takes root, and maintaining respect through the inevitable challenges of life. They also discuss why having fun together matters more than most couples realize and how faith can provide a foundation when life gets difficult.Whether you're married, dating, or hoping to build a strong relationship one day, this episode offers a candid conversation about the decision that may shape your future more than any other.00:00 – The Punisher Journey Begins (Nick helped make a movie!)03:25 – Behind the Scenes of Marvel's The Punisher06:26 – The Psychological Depth of Frank Castle09:29 – The Impact of Choices and Consequences12:38 – Balancing Life and Responsibilities15:32 – The Importance of Relationships18:26 – Navigating Resentment and Disdain32:20 – Navigating Relationship Dynamics35:36 – The Importance of Fun in Relationships37:51 – Faith and Its Role in RelationshipsThanks for tuning in to the Jason Khalipa Podcast!
The Superhero Show #626Fantastic Four: Super SkrullThe Superhero Show — Super SkrullThis week, The Superhero Show continues its coverage of the 1994 Fantastic Four animated series with Episode 1.07, “Super Skrull.” After the events of the previous Skrull storyline, the hosts dive into the arrival of one of the Fantastic Four's most iconic comic book enemies: Super Skrull. The episode brings back the shape-shifting alien threat with an upgraded weapon—a warrior capable of wielding all four of the Fantastic Four's powers at once. The hosts discuss the episode's plot, its connection to the missing Skrull episode that disappeared from modern streaming services, and whether Super Skrull lives up to his reputation as one of Marvel's most dangerous villains. As always, the conversation balances genuine comic book analysis with plenty of laughs at the wonderfully strange storytelling choices that only a 1990s superhero cartoon could deliver.Super Skrull: The Recap Disney+ Doesn't Want You to SeeThe hosts begin by discussing one of the episode's most unusual features: its lengthy recap of the previous Skrull storyline.Because the earlier Skrull episode has largely been absent from Disney+, modern viewers are put in the strange position of watching a recap for an episode they may never have actually seen. The hosts talk about how bizarre this experience is and how the recap almost feels like a hidden glimpse into a lost chapter of the series. This leads to a broader discussion about continuity in older cartoons and how streaming-era audiences sometimes encounter these shows very differently than their original viewers did.Super Skrull: All Four Powers in One VillainThe centerpiece of the episode is, of course, the introduction of Super Skrull himself. The hosts break down how the character is adapted from the comics and why the basic concept remains so effective. By combining the abilities of Mister Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Human Torch, and The Thing into a single opponent, the episode instantly creates a threat that feels uniquely suited to challenge the entire team. They discuss how each power is utilized throughout the episode, which abilities translate best to animation, and whether the cartoon fully takes advantage of the character's incredible potential. The consensus? Even when the animation struggles to keep up with the concept, Super Skrull remains a fantastic comic-book idea.Super Skrull: Powered by the Skrull HomeworldOne of the more memorable aspects of the episode is the explanation for where Super Skrull's abilities come from. The hosts discuss the decision to have his powers amplified and maintained through energy transmitted from the Skrull homeworld. This creates a built-in weakness for the character while also reinforcing the larger scale of the Skrull Empire's involvement in the conflict.Naturally, the hosts have some fun poking at the comic-book logic involved, but they also acknowledge that it gives the story a clear objective beyond simply punching the villain until he stops moving.Super Skrull: Outsmarting the Ultimate EnemyAs the episode builds toward its conclusion, the Fantastic Four realize they cannot simply overpower an opponent who possesses all of their abilities. The hosts discuss how the team ultimately defeats Super Skrull through strategy and teamwork rather than brute force. This becomes one of the stronger elements of the episode, emphasizing the idea that what makes the Fantastic Four special is not their powers individually but how they work together as a family. The discussion also touches on whether the resolution feels earned and how it compares to other major villain defeats throughout the first season.Comic Book Weirdness at Its FinestThroughout the episode, the hosts repeatedly come back to what makes Super Skrull such an enjoyable piece of Marvel history. The character embodies everything great about Silver Age comic books: a simple premise, outrageous powers, and enough comic-book logic to create endless entertaining situations.Even when the episode struggles with pacing or storytelling, the sheer fun of watching the Fantastic Four face a villain who can do everything they can do keeps the hosts engaged.Final Thoughts — Super SkrullBy the end of Super Skrull, The Superhero Show finds itself discussing one of the strongest villain concepts the 1994 Fantastic Four series has introduced so far. Between the strange recap of a missing episode, the arrival of one of Marvel's most recognizable alien antagonists, and the creative challenge of facing a foe with all four Fantastic Four powers, the episode delivers exactly the kind of comic-book absurdity that makes this series so entertaining to revisit.Whether you're a longtime fan of the character or meeting him for the first time, Super Skrull proves why the Fantastic Four's rogues gallery remains one of Marvel's most imaginative. Are You a Research Nerd Who's Looking For More? Here are some links for all your research wants and needs!1994 Fantastic Four Animated SeriesRyan North's Fantastic FourJoin the discussions online! 1994 Fantastic Four Animated Series, Ryan North's Fantastic FourCatch Up On Past Episodes!Missed any of our past episodes? Treating schizophrenia in America is often described as a broken system, not because of a lack of medical knowledge, but due to structural and policy failures. The failures of these systems has created a cycle where individuals often move between homelessness, emergency rooms, and the criminal justice system rather than receiving ongoing care. Many families and caregivers struggle to get help even when the situation turns dangerous. In this episode, hosts Rachel Star Withers and Gabe Howard discuss how the government and health care system failures lead to these tragedies and what needs to change. They unpack cases like the one involving Rob Reiner, where his son, who has schizophrenia, is suspected of murdering both his parents during a severe mental health crisis. Guest Gail Freedman joins later in the episode. She is the director, writer, and producer of a new documentary, “No One Cares About Crazy People.” It's inspired by Ron Powers acclaimed book of the same name and it's an intimate, immersive dive into the crisis and chaos of severe mental illness and the grassroots movement to do something about it. Guest Information: With over 25 years as an award-winning filmmaker, Gail Freedman has produced, directed, and written dozens of documentaries on a wide range of subjects. Among her films: “Hot to Trot,” an award-winning feature documentary inside the fascinating but little-known world of same-sex competitive ballroom dance; “Making the 9/11 Memorial,” a primetime special for The History Channel; “Breaking the Silence Barrier” (cognitive disabilities); “Where's The Cure?” (breast cancer activism); “Generation Rx” (the opioid crisis); “Lessons for the Future” (public education); “Giving While Living” (philanthropy); and “A Forever Family” (Annie E. Casey Foundation). “No One Cares About Crazy People”Inspired by Ron Powers' acclaimed book of the same name, “No One Cares About Crazy People” is an intimate deep dive into the crisis and chaos of severe mental illness in America. A heartbreaking family memoir and searing social history, it is personal and immersive — but also tracks a burgeoning grassroots movement to reinvent our failed systems. Narrated by actor Bob Odenkirk (“Breaking Bad,” “Better Call Saul”) with original music by Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy. Our next deep dive tackles Howard the Duck... not the character so much as infamous 1986 movie and Marvel's adaptation. We're talking about what's arguably Hollywood's strangest comic-book movie and whether its tie-in comic it improves on the source material. Spoiler: It doesn't.

"Ben's PTSD manifested as his alcoholism and his self-destruction as the Spider. ‘I'm just going to go out there and get punched in the face voluntarily, and maybe I'll do some good at the same time.' "— Will FreelandBen Riley didn't become the Spider to save anyone. He did it for the rush, and Spider-Noir on Prime Video is honest enough to build a whole show on that confession. Marvel comics expert Will Freeland joins Matthew Fox to dig into the series: why it works better than either of them expected, how a World War I origin story reframes the cynicism of 1930s noir as something closer to undiagnosed shell shock, and what Nicolas Cage gets right once he settles into the role. They dig into the show's remarkable villain architecture, where almost no one is simply bad, the stealth Black Cat origin hiding inside Li Jun Li's Kat Hardy, and the choice to watch in black and white. What does it mean that Ben's final heroic act is sacrificing the cure he wanted for himself to save the man who has the woman he loves? And can someone who chose heroism for selfish reasons ever really choose it for the right ones?Full show notes and resources: Visit Our SiteConnect with Will Freeland: Twitch · Instagram**************************************************************************This episode is a production of Superhero Ethics, an Ethical Panda podcast and part of the TruStory FM Entertainment Podcast Network. This week on The Inner Gamer, we tackle a massive crossroad for the entire video game industry. We lead off with an in-depth review of 007 First Light, breaking down how IO Interactive successfully stepped away from their classic Hitman sandbox formula to deliver a tight, narrative-driven James Bond origin story that balances high-octane spy craft with incredible narrative momentum. Then, we are joined by a special guest to brave the waters of Windrose, the breakout Early Access pirate survival RPG, exploring whether its phenomenal "Soulslite" ground combat makes up for its arcade naval physics and the distinct lack of a solo pause feature. In our main segment, the crew splits down the middle in a fierce debate over Bungie's historic announcement to freeze development on Destiny 2 following the Monument of Triumph patch. Is cutting off a ten-year-old game a necessary, pragmatic evolution to focus all hands on Marathon, or is abandoning a premier multi-billion dollar franchise a critical corporate error under Sony's roof? Finally, we sift through the massive firehose of announcements from the Xbox Showcase, State of Play, and Summer Game Fest. We take around 15 of the biggest upcoming titles—including Marvel's Wolverine, Control Resonant, Halo: Campaign Evolved, and Gears of War: E-Day—and map them into a master thematic blueprint so you can cut through the marketing noise and find your next definitive gaming obsession before GTA 6 arrives to alter the landscape. The guys discuss their favorite scenes, standout performances, memorable moments, and the casting choices that helped define Marvel movies for an entire generation. Beyond the action and special effects, they also explore the deeper themes that have made X-Men endure for decades. From Magneto's origins in Auschwitz during the Holocaust to the ongoing struggles of mutants seeking acceptance in a fearful world, the film presents powerful ideas about prejudice, discrimination, identity, and belonging. The conversation also examines why many viewers have connected the mutant experience to the real-world experiences of LGBTQ+ individuals and other minority communities who have faced exclusion, misunderstanding, or discrimination. The guys discuss how these themes continue to resonate with audiences today and why the X-Men story remains one of Marvel's most meaningful allegories. Whether you're a longtime Marvel fan or experiencing these films for the first time, grab your black leather uniform and join us as we take a fresh look at the movie that started it all for Marvel's merry mutants. It's Marvel Monday and meet Marvel's most powerful hero! ABOUT CAPTAIN MARVEL Carol Danvers becomes one of the universe's most powerful heroes when Earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races. AIR DATE & NETWORK FOR CAPTAIN MARVEL March 8, 2019 | Theatrical Release CAST & CREW OF CAPTAIN MARVEL Directors: Anna Boden, Ryan Fleck Writers: Anna Boden, Ryan Fleck, Geneva Robertson-Dworet Cast: Brie Larson as Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury BRAN'S MOVIE SYNOPSIS Carol Danvers is living her best amnesia life on the Kree homeworld of Hala under the name Vers. Got it? Good. She's got superpowers, cool space suits, and a mentor named Yon-Rogg who constantly tells her to stop feeling. The Kree government, which is basically run by a giant AI lady, insists that the evil shape-shifting Skrulls ruined her life and since Carol remembers absolutely nothing, so she just rolls with it. While on a mission to rescue a Kree spy, things immediately go sideways. The Skrulls capture Carol and start digging around in her memories, discovering that she used to be an Air Force pilot on Earth. Their leader Talos becomes very interested in a scientist named Dr. Wendy Lawson and a mysterious light-speed engine. Carol escapes before they get all the answers and crash-lands straight into a Blockbuster Video in 1995 Los Angeles. Her arrival gets the attention of a young Nick Fury, who still has two working eyes and spends most of this movie being confused. After a series of chases, explosions, and Skrulls impersonating anyone they want, Carol starts uncovering pieces of her past. She learns that she wasn't born on Hala at all—she was an Air Force pilot presumed dead after a crash years earlier. As Carol & Nick follow the breadcrumbs, she reconnects with her old friend Maria and Maria's daughter Monica, who are understandably shocked to discover their dead friend is actually a space superhero. Meanwhile, Talos finally reveals that the Skrulls aren't conquering villains at all—they're refugees looking for a home. Turns out the Kree may not have been entirely honest. The biggest bombshell comes when Carol remembers what really happened. Dr. Lawson was actually Mar-Vell, a Kree scientist secretly helping the Skrulls. Shes killed while taking control of an experimental energy source. Carol destroyed the engine to keep it from the Kree, absorbed its energy in the explosion, gained incredible powers, and then had her memories erased so the Kree could turn her into a weapon. The gang tracks down Mar-Vell's hidden space laboratory, where a bunch of Skrull refugees have been hiding. Unfortunately, Starforce shows up, the Kree try to reassert control, and Carol gets dragged before the Supreme Intelligence. She destroys the device limiting her powers and finally goes full Captain Marvel. What follows is a one-sided beatdown thanks to Captain marvel. With the Skrulls safe for the moment, Carol decides to head off into space to help them find a permanent home. Before leaving, she gives Fury a special pager for emergencies. Fury later loses his eye in an incident involving Goose - a cat who is actually an alien who is also holding the Tesseract in its tummy. Looking at Carol's old Air Force call sign, he lands on the perfect name: The Avengers Initiative. In the mid-credits scene, the pager goes off and Carol returns to Earth Watch the show on Youtube - www.deckthehallmark.com/youtubeInterested in advertising on the show? The Punisher : One Last Kill ! Even the classics can do with a fresh look once in a while....On this very special episode we're diving into what just might be the hottest new show of the season and it's gorgeous visual stylings. It's time for 'Spider-Noir'.Ben Reilly (Nicolas Cage), a seasoned, down-on-his-luck private investigator in 1930s New York, is forced to grapple with his past life, following a deeply personal tragedy, as the city's one and only superhero.Like a shot of adrenaline into a familiar franchise, 'Spider-Noir" couldn't have come at a better time and comes with some unique visual trappings that make it stand out from the rest. This show was shot so that it would like amazing not only color, but in Black and White as well....and contrary to popular belief there's more to it then flipping a switch or pressing a button. That's where cinematographers Darran Tiernan and Peter Deming come in. Both men were kind enough to sit down with me to talk about the in's and out's of shooting a show that is very much a love letter to the classics Film Noir's that looked amazing in both Color and B&W. We talked about all that and so very much more.'Spider-Noir' is available on Prime Video now.
This week we're introduced to ShonnyDman, a nerd who enjoys Marvel, DC…. the list goes on. He's especially talented at interviewing cosplay models who have nothing going on in their lives. Doug from Good Times Great Movies joins the show to explain that Partyhardycosplay might be a moron. Gallagher and Artie Fletcher were in Wyoming promoting their comedy show on Z94 FM. Say it with me: It's Seeking Sunday! Ben here. Today, Jacques, Hesse, and I are back with another talk radio episode. Between playing some of our favorite tracks, we come up with an idea to take down Marvel and DC, discuss some wretched homosexual behavior directed at Zohran, and debate the evil (or perhaps freedom) of Klarna. Plus, we read a couple of selections from The Ethicist, the NYT's advice column for neurotic liberals. Submissions feature a trigger-happy lesbian and the question of what to do about those weird noises coming from a storage unit.
This Christian-leaning film directed by a martial arts expert preaches a confusing mix of liberal pro-science atheism and Christian deism that would be way more interesting if the fight scenes weren't such a slog. It's too bad because ABSOLUTE DOMINION has so much good going for it. Director Lexi Alexander has a genuinely interesting career and an obvious expertise and passion for combat sports. Her most notable film is possibly PUNISHER: WAR ZONE (2008), a commercial failure at the time that has since become a cult classic. She was notable for being the first female director of a Marvel franchise film, but the gritty and hyper-violent take on PUNISHER didn't land well with critics or audiences. Alexander had some famous defenders though -- comedian Patton Oswalt has repeatedly gone on record praising the film. It's probably not a coincidence that he and fellow celebrity fan Alex Winter both appear in ABSOLUTE DOMINION in supporting roles. We hypothesize that both jumped at the chance to support a new Lexi Alexander project with an interesting script. In ABSOLUTE DOMINION, Oswalt plays a fictional influencer/streamer named Fix Huntley who goes viral in the year 2085 AD pitching the idea for a worldwide martial arts tournament where the major world religions each send a champion to fight for religious dominance. In the war-torn dystopian future of 2085, society jumps at the chance for a civil Mortal Kombat-style tournament instead of scattered warfare and bloodshed. The three major world religions, Celestians, Pentotities, and Dashafaris, all send champions, but a last-minute rogue entry named Sagan Bruno steals the show. Sagan represents the Institute for Humanism in Science -- a perfect fighter born of a eugenics project, to a scientist mother and athlete father, neither of which have a relationship with him. Bruno quickly jumps to the top of the competition, but his worldview is rocked when blessings from a supernatural force begin to guide his combat. Could this force be none other than capital "G" God? Or is it just a miracle of logic and reason? It's too bad ABSOLUTE DOMINION couldn't stick the landing because it is undoubtedly a breath of fresh air in a sea of Christian movies with the exact same stereotypical evangelical perspective. When Skybound announced M.A.S.K. would be joining the Energon Universe, fans immediately had questions. How would Matt Trakker and Miles Mayhem fit alongside Transformers, G.I. Joe, and Void Rivals? Out this week, we sat down with writer Dan Watters and artist Pye Parr to discuss updating the classic property, designing its iconic vehicles, and why M.A.S.K. offers a unique perspective within the larger Energon Universe. We're running the full uncut interview, featuring even more discussion on cool cars, character dynamics, action sequences, and what readers can expect from the series moving forward. Plus, we recap the biggest comics news of the week, share our favorite new releases, and much more. Joe, Transformers, and its own thing. What aspects of the original property were most important to preserve, and where did you see opportunities to reinvent it for the Energon Universe? Matt Trakker's introduction is fascinating because he's being hunted by the military, yet it quickly becomes clear he wants to be captured. Why was that the right way to introduce him, and what does it reveal about who he is in this version of M.A.S.K.? Miles Mayhem comes across as both calculating and completely unhinged. His fear of Transformers and extraterrestrial threats gives him a very different motivation than a typical villain. What interested you about making him someone who might see himself as humanity's last line of defense? One of the most exciting ideas in M.A.S.K. has always been vehicles transforming into weapons and armor systems. Pye, what was the challenge of updating those iconic transformations for modern audiences while still capturing the toyetic fun fans expect? Dan, after writing Destro, what was appealing about tackling another corner of the Energon Universe? Did your experience with Destro help shape how you approached M.A.S.K., or did you want this book to have a completely different flavor? The first issue hints at a larger arms race involving technology and weapons that may not even originate on Earth. How much of M.A.S.K. is a spy thriller versus a science-fiction story, and where does it fit tonally alongside Transformers, G.I. Joe, and Void Rivals? Bruce Sato and Gloria Baker are positioned as key new recruits. What qualities do they bring to M.A.S.K. that complement or challenge Matt Trakker's leadership style? The original M.A.S.K. comic debuted in 1987 and had a very different view of global threats and military organizations. Were there any specific elements from that era that you deliberately updated to reflect modern anxieties and geopolitics? Fun question: If you could each claim one M.A.S.K. vehicle and mask from the entire franchise to use in real life for a week, which would you pick and what completely irresponsible thing would you do with it?

This week on Fantastic Forum, we are diving into two iconic heroes reimagined for a new era of fantasy and noir storytelling. First up is Masters of the Universe, the highly anticipated live action adaptation bringing Eternia back to the big screen. With Nicholas Galitzine starring as He-Man alongside Camila Mendes, Idris Elba, and Jared Leto as Skeletor, the film aims to reintroduce the legendary battle between good and evil with massive action, mythology, and cosmic fantasy. We are breaking down the cast, the world building, and whether this new take can finally deliver the definitive Masters of the Universe movie fans have been waiting for. Then we turn to Spider-Noir on Amazon Prime, starring Nicolas Cage as an aging private investigator version of Spider-Man navigating a dark and dangerous 1930s New York City. Inspired by the Marvel Noir comics, the series blends superhero storytelling with hard-boiled detective fiction, shadowy conspiracies, and stylized pulp action. With Cage stepping back into the role after Into the Spider-Verse, we are discussing whether this noir-driven take on Spider-Man stands out as one of Marvel's most unique live action projects yet. Watch tonight at 6:30 pm PT and call in live at [www.fantasticforum.live](http://www.fantasticforum.live) to share your thoughts. Fantastic Forum, assemble! Jesus is God (Sermon Series on John) - Sunday, 14th June 2026[Episode 23 - John Chapter 5 KJV]1. He is equal with God.John 5:19-20 Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise. For the Father loveth the Son, and sheweth him all things that himself doeth: and he will shew him greater works than these, that ye may marvel.2. He is the giver of life.John 5:21 For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth them; even so the Son quickeneth whom he will.John 5:26 For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself;3. He is the final judge.John 5:22-23 For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son: That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him.4. He will determine the eternal destiny of humanity John 5:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.5. He will raise the dead.John 5:25-29 For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself; And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man. Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.
