A juzgar por su nombre (que hace referencia al culto de Afrodita), era un converso proveniente de un entorno pagano. El hecho de que Pablo lo llama su “colaborador” sugiere que estaba activo en el ministerio, quizá trabajando junto al apóstol en Filipos. La expresión “compañero de milicia” (comparar con Fil. 1:27) probablemente se refiera a un conflicto que Epafrodito habría afrontado para difundir el evangelio y a que estuvo dispuesto incluso a arriesgar su vida (Fil. 2:30). Como “mensajero” (apostolos, en griego) designado por la iglesia de Filipos, Epafrodito fue enviado a atender a Pablo en la cárcel y a ocuparse de cualquier otra necesidad que el apóstol pudiera tener (Fil. 2:25). Fue a él a quien los filipenses confiaron sus ofrendas para Pablo (Fil. 4:18). También fue a Epafrodito a quien se encomendó llevar esta epístola en su viaje de regreso a Filipos (ver Elena de White, Los hechos de los apóstoles, p. 395). Tal vez debido a los problemas en Filipos (ver la lección 4), Pablo consideró necesario enviar a Epafrodito de regreso antes de lo previsto, y por ello instó a los filipenses a que lo recibieran “en el Señor con toda alegría” (Fil. 2:29). Ahora sugiere la posibilidad muy real de “ser derramado en libación” (Fil. 2:17). Esta imagen se basa en la antigua práctica consistente en derramar un líquido (como aceite, vino o agua) como ofrenda para Dios (ver, por ejemplo, Gén. 35:14; Éxo. 29:40; 2 Sam. 23:15-17). El aparente “derroche” de un líquido valioso en un acto de devoción puede recordarnos la acción de María de ungir la cabeza y los pies de Jesús con el “perfume de nardo puro, de mucho precio” (Mar. 14:3-9; Juan 12:3). 2026 BBWAA HOF BallotIn a bit of a surprise, the Contemporary Era Committee selected Jeff Kent to the Hall of Fame last month. He will join the likes of Rogers Hornsby, Nellie Fox, Joe Morgan, Ryne Sandberg, Jackie Robinson, and other MVP second baseman to earn enshrinement (Jose Altuve will join this list in the future, though another player on this year's writers' ballot is a long shot.) Dale Murphy, Carlos Delgado, and Don Mattingly all received more than six votes, and the rest of the candidates received fewer than five, meaning they are ineligible to be on the next ballot in three years. For Clemens, Bonds, and Sheffield, that result was not too surprising given their alleged PED use.This coming Tuesday, January 20th, the results from the BBWAA ballot will be revealed, and we will find out who will join Jeff Kent in Cooperstown this year. Carlos Beltrán and Andruw Jones appear to be in strong position for election this year. Chase Utley and Felix Hernández are the big climbers, and Cole Hamels looks to haver a strong debut on the ballot. La desunión es mortal. Jesús dijo: “Si una casa estuviera dividida contra sí misma, no podría permanecer” (Mar. 3:25). Este un principio sencillo que Satanás está encantado de que olvidemos. Nuestra unidad nos ayuda a cumplir nuestra misión profética como el remanente de la profecía bíblica (Apoc. 12:17), proclamando el “evangelio eterno” a “toda nación y tribu, lengua y pueblo” (Apoc. 14:6). Puesto que la unidad es crucial para cumplir nuestra misión de difundir este mensaje encomendado por Dios, y en vista de que la oración de Jesús en Juan 17 destaca “la verdad” de la Palabra de Dios como una de las claves más importantes para la unidad (Juan 17:17, 19), nuestro mensaje no puede separarse de nuestra misión ni de nuestra unidad. El Diablo es impotente para detener la marcha de la verdad divina. Lee los siguientes textos y resume brevemente el tema que tienen en común: Mateo 10:38; Hechos 14:22; Romanos 8:17; 2 Timoteo 3:12. La vida misma en este mundo caído es difícil, incluso para las personas excelentes. Job era un hombre justo, al punto de que la Biblia misma dice que era “intachable y recto, temeroso de Dios y apartado del mal” (Job 1:1). Él los incluía entre aquellos que “nunca me vieron” (Col. 2:1). No obstante, Pablo les aseguró, como a los filipenses, que “siempre” daba gracias a Dios por ellos en sus oraciones. Lee Colosenses 1:3-8. ¿Por qué tres cosas agradece Pablo a Dios? Pablo reúne las tres virtudes que menciona en otros lugares: fe, esperanza y amor (ver 1 Cor. 13:13; 1 Tes. 1:3; 5:8). Nota que Pablo no atribuye estas virtudes a los colosenses, sino que da gracias al Padre por ellas, pues se cuentan entre las dádivas o dones “buenos y perfectos” que recibimos de él (Sant. 1:17). A diferencia de “la palabra de los hombres”, aquella “actúa” eficazmente en quienes creen (1 Tes. 2:13) y cumple la voluntad de Dios (Isa. 55:11). Así, cuando se proclama el evangelio, el poder de Dios se manifiesta mediante la obra del Espíritu Santo en los corazones de quienes oyen y responden. Un poco más adelante, en el mismo capítulo, el apóstol dice que el evangelio “es predicado a toda criatura que está debajo del cielo” (Col. 1:23). La extensa red de carreteras romanas hizo posible la celeridad en la comunicación y los viajes rápidos, y así fue como las epístolas de Pablo pudieron circular tan amplia y velozmente. Ver 1 Tim. 1:18; 2 Tim. 4:7; Efe. 6:10-12; 2 Cor. 10:3-5; Hech. 20:32. Los escritores del Nuevo Testamento reconocen el cumplimiento eclesiológico (relativo a la iglesia) de la tipología de Josué. Su ministerio no necesita ser prefigurado, pero seguimos teniendo el privilegio de reflejar su carácter: la gloria que Cristo anhelaba compartir con sus discípulos (Juan 17:22) y que puede llegar a ser nuestra si contemplamos el carácter de Cristo (2 Cor. 3:18). Cuanto más contemplamos a Jesús, más reflejamos la belleza de su carácter. Esto es fundamental en nuestro caminar diario con Cristo. Por eso es tan importante dedicar tiempo al estudio diario de la Palabra y a reflexionar acerca de la vida, el carácter y las enseñanzas de Jesús. Somos transformados por la contemplación. Josué, el tipo o modelo, preguntó a los israelitas: “¿Hasta cuándo serán negligentes para ir a tomar posesión de la tierra que les dio el Señor, Dios de sus padres?” (Jos. 18:3). ¿Cómo formularía hoy esa pregunta Jesús, el antitipo de Josué?

El tipo o modelo corresponde a su antitipo (la realidad representada o ilustrada por aquel) como un molde hueco (el tipo) refleja las características de su contenido (el antitipo). Así, el tipo o modelo bíblico fue moldeado según un diseño divino que había existido concretamente o conceptualmente en la mente de Dios, y sirve para moldear futuras copias o antitipos de ese modelo previo. Es crucial entender que los escritores del Nuevo Testamento no atribuyeron al azar un significado tipológico a algunos textos del Antiguo Testamento. Un tipo del Antiguo Testamento siempre es confirmado como tal en los escritos proféticos antes de que adquiera un cumplimiento antitípico en el Nuevo Testamento. Observa cómo aparece David en el Antiguo Testamento y cómo es tipológicamente aplicado en el Nuevo. ¿Qué lecciones podemos aprender acerca del funcionamiento de la tipología a partir de este ejemplo? 1. Cuánto daño hacemos con esto, por eso no podemos ser vendedores y compradores de conciencia, también en tu ámbito social, por ejemplo, jefes que manipulan. Tenemos que enseñar a que las personas sean libres y responsables de sus vidas y no dependientes de nosotros ante el cómo vivir. 3) Pendientes: Aprende a ser prudente de lo que contás a la gente de tu vida. No todos disfrutan de lo que logras y vivís. Como, así también, no es bueno que todo el tiempo estés contando tus proyectos, porque siempre puede aparecer alguien que te los quiera destruir. Aprende a ver que hay momentos en los que uno puede aparecer y hay momentos en los que es mejor pasar desapercibido. Pedí a Dios la fuerza para seguir en este vivir. Algo bueno está por venir.

Lee Josué 5:10; Éxodo 12:6; Levítico 23:5; Números 28:16 y Deuteronomio 16:4, 6. La segunda actividad importante que precedió a la conquista fue la celebración de la Pascua. Esta tuvo lugar en la tarde del decimocuarto día del mes, en cumplimiento fiel de las instrucciones dadas por Dios. En tal ocasión, se hizo especial hincapié en el significado simbólico de la celebración de la Pascua. Los acontecimientos dirigidos por Josué reflejaban los del Éxodo. La Pascua evocaba la noche en que tuvo lugar la décima plaga (Éxo. 12), cuando el ángel del Señor dio muerte a todos los primogénitos de Egipto y perdonó a los israelitas. Luego se produjo la salida de Egipto, el cruce del Mar Rojo y la travesía por el desierto. A diferencia de ello, la historia de la segunda generación comenzó en el desierto, continuó con el cruce del Jordán, incluyó la circuncisión y la celebración de la Pascua, y condujo al momento crucial en que cabía esperar otra intervención milagrosa del Señor contra los enemigos de Israel, los habitantes de Canaán.
