Send us a textEver wonder what happens when creative women find genuine community? This special episode takes you inside the transformative Rebloom Live Courageously retreat through conversations with five remarkable artists who discovered much more than new techniques—they found their tribe. While visiting my mom (excuse the different audio quality!), I couldn't wait to share these meaningful connections with you. Each artist reveals not just where to find their work online, but what made this gathering so profoundly different from other creative conferences they've attended. From Amy Keever's innovative "vision book" concept (not vision boards!) to Brenda Olson's glittery, Pom-pom headband creations, these women embody the playful yet purposeful spirit that defined our week together. What emerges through these conversations is a powerful theme of safety, authenticity, and mutual support. As Jane Bell Lassiter puts it, the retreat created space "to be authentic and be ourselves," while Carol Krone Philpott describes feeling "lifted by everyone" during her journey toward whatever her "next bloom" might become. Perhaps most touching is Barb Dragony's reminder that resonates with creatives everywhere: "You're not alone in what you're feeling and what you want to do. You are not alone and you just need to show up."Stay tuned for a more comprehensive episode about the retreat once additional media arrives! In the meantime, check the show notes for all the artists' websites and social media handles—I encourage you to follow their inspiring work and perhaps discover your own creative community that helps you bloom.Amy Keever https://www.amykeever.comhttps://www.facebook.com/amykeevergalleryhttps://www.instagram.com/amykeevergalleryBrenda Olson https://www.brendaolsonart.comhttps://www.facebook.com/brendaolsonartstudiohttps://www.instagram.com/brendaolsonartJane Bell Lassiter https://www.janebelldesigns.comhttps://www.facebook.com/janebelllassiterArtisthttps://www.instagram.com/janebelllassiterCarol Krone Philpott https://www.facebook.com/CAKiHappyArthttps://www.instagram.com/cakihappyartBarb Dragony https://www.barbdragony.comSupport the showCatch the doodles on YouTubeMy socials:Sign up for my monthly newsletterPortfolio website: Brewtifully.comInstagram: /BrewtifullyFacebook: /brewtifullyTikTok: GettingSmallwithGrandmaLinkedIn: Tracy Dawn Brewer

Send us a textCreativity demands fuel, and finding that spark often requires stepping outside our familiar routines. In this energetic and heartfelt episode, Tracy shares her excitement about attending the upcoming Rebloom creative retreat in Milton, Kentucky—the first of several inspirational events she plans to experience this year as she transitions from her full-time job into expanded creative entrepreneurship. The conversation explores the various ways we can seek inspiration—from local Chamber of Commerce lunch-and-learns to weekend workshops, multi-day retreats, and even international creative excursions. Tracy emphasizes that regardless of format, these experiences share a common purpose: they give us permission to try something new without fear of judgment. This willingness to step beyond our comfort zones becomes the foundation for both personal and professional growth. With palpable enthusiasm (you can literally "hear her smiling"), Tracy discusses how creative pursuits energize rather than deplete her. She shares exciting plans for summer art camps for children in July and reflects on the broader importance of creative education. In a world where many schools minimize arts programs, fostering creativity becomes even more crucial—not just for future artists but for anyone seeking to develop innovative thinking skills applicable to any career path. What types of creative retreats spark your inspiration? Are you more drawn to local workshops or destination events? Do you prefer learning alongside friends or meeting new connections? Share your experiences and join the conversation about how intentional inspiration-seeking can transform your creative journey!Rebloom information Support the showCatch the doodles on YouTubeMy socials:Sign up for my monthly newsletterPortfolio website: Brewtifully.comInstagram: /BrewtifullyFacebook: /brewtifullyTikTok: GettingSmallwithGrandmaLinkedIn: Tracy Dawn Brewer

Send us a textAfter a brief hiatus in March, I'm back with exciting updates about what's happening at Brewtifully Made! The walls of the studio are now adorned with our April exhibit – the 2025 Itty Bitty Art Exhibby, featuring miniature artwork from talented creators across Stark County. From micro crocheting to tiny concrete sculptures, these diminutive masterpieces showcase incredible skill and creativity. Stop by anytime this month to view the collection with our complimentary programs and magnifying glasses, and perhaps even create your own tiny artwork to add to our growing display. My personal passion for miniatures runs deep – with six dollhouses at home and countless hours spent crafting detailed models and scenes. There's something profoundly mindful and soothing about working on such a small scale, watching intricate worlds emerge from tiny components. This shared joy with my husband, who creates 3D models and miniature accessories, has inspired much of what we do at the studio.Beyond the exhibit, we've launched Free Face Painting Fridays throughout April, welcoming both children and adults to stop by between 5-9 pm for some creative fun. The studio will be closed Easter weekend (April 19-20) for family time, and I'll be attending the Rebloom art conference in Kentucky from May 4-9 – an incredible opportunity to connect with fellow artists and gather fresh inspiration. The most significant news, however, is my upcoming retirement from healthcare on June 30th after a decade in the field. While bittersweet to leave wonderful colleagues behind, I'm thrilled to dive fully into this art journey. Brewtifully Made was born from my desire to create a space where creativity happens immediately – no hour-long drive home before you can start your project. Whether you want to try a craft before investing in supplies, rediscover a forgotten passion, or simply need a cheerleader for your creative endeavors, that's exactly what we're here for.Looking for updates on classes, events and special offers? In this episode, I interview Kalynn Crump, the Founder of ReBLOOM, Canada's first flower recycling company that helps corporations by repurposing events and fundraising florals, converting waste into bouquets for charities, non-profits, and hospices across Canada. A distinctive company handling the best for the environment and for the people who have thought they were forgotten.  Rebloom was founded by Kalynn Crump in 2014. She has witnessed how flowers were thrown in the dumpster after an event and didn't even enjoy the beauty of it. Then, she decided to find a better solution for people to enjoy the beautiful flowers for a week or more depending on how they take care of them. She started the business thinking this would not work but, she felt success in 2018 by gaining 125% growth following a 300% growth in 2019. They have diverted 93 tons of floral waste from landfills and delivered 150,000 bouquets since 2014. Crump says the hardest thing in growing a small business is exercising patience. “You have to have patience. It's like watering a plant” she said. Therefore, in order to grow a plant and for it to bear fruits, patience is very important and so in the business. This Cast Covers: A distinctive flower business that handles the best for the environment by recycling flower events. How the smallest ideas impacted the lives and souls of people who have thought they were forgotten. Bringing happiness to everyone while giving flowers a second life and without damaging the environment. Partnerships with everyone wanting to make a difference such as corporate clients, global conferences, fundraisers, and hotels.  Employing a lot of people but everybody gets paid by the company that hires them. The basis of the business is enjoying the flowers for a week or more depending on how well people take care of them. Started finding a better solution for flowers not to be thrown in the dumpster to reduce the worsening of health problems. The idea of bringing back a natural product into the community by creating more beauty.  How flowers are making a positive impact within the community. Flowers undergo composting to complete the organic life cycle. Additional Resources:  ReBLOOM The Secret Handshake By Kathleen Kelly Reardon Start With Why By Simon Sinek ………………………………………… Quotes: “The whole point of being an entrepreneurial business owner is sharing your wins and your losses and in my opinion, that is what it should be.” – Kalynn Crump “I don't pretend to be the genius of all things, we hire that out. I know my limits and I play within it.” – Kalynn Crump “Success for me is definitely giving back to the community that has given me so much.” – Kalynn Crump “At the end of the day, you have to be doing good in order to give back to your community and feel good about yourself.” – Kalynn Crump “Because as long as we give back to people, create joy and the environment, you've got a home run, every corporation will sign up for it in a heartbeat.” – Kalynn Crump ………………………………………… Music from https://filmmusic.io “Cold Funk” by Kevin MacLeod (https://incompetech.com). This episode is a conversation on why you’re not doomed by your past relationships, with my friend and Alchemical Divorce Coach & Transformational Guide Kimberly FiNix. It’s relevant to all sorts of relationships which have ended, from short flings to divorces. I asked Kimberly to cover this topic with me because we’re both divorced, have lived this wisdom in our own lives, and both get all excited talking about shame. She is also the empress of guiding womxn through the end of a relationship and its aftermath. You’ll hear us explain why we don’t like to call them “failed” relationships, even if the challenges associated with them were spectacular. We also share some of our own personal experiences. We talk about: . The pattern of ignoring and suppressing your own needs . Having compassion instead of shaming yourself for what happened in your relationships . Learning to trust yourself again to make solid choices . Non-negotiables vs. normal compromises . How understanding trauma patterns can help you have compassion for yourself or a partner . How previous experiences with a partner could impact on your sense of worthiness This conversation is full of permission and space to be imperfect, to not have it all figured out, to be learning through trial and error. For context, we don’t talk in depth about abusive relationships. Some of our conversation is relevant, but it’s not my personal specialty, and there’s a lot more to be said about abuse which we haven’t covered here. Kimberly FiNix is an Alchemical Divorce Coach & Transformational Guide for womxn. Her mission is to help womxn navigate the portals of divorce & relationship transition with strength, confidence, and a clear vision for their next stage of life. Kimberly's holistic approach combines modern coaching & mindset work with body-based practices and somatic trauma resolution techniques. Her work bridges the mind and body, resulting in transformation that's both healing and sustainable. Kimberly's professional training spans the realms of embodiment work, somatic trauma resolution & integration, neuroscience & female sexuality. She brings the benefits of both formal training and the experiences of a long personal journey of healing mind, body, and spirit. Kimberly is a certified VITA Sex, Love, & Relationship Coach. Her studies include Tantric & Taoist techniques for emotional freedom and sexual healing with Layla Martin, she's a long-time mentee of EMPATH*ology founder Lola Pickett, and she's currently studying the ReBloom method of trauma resolution with Rachael Maddox. Kimberly's offerings are designed to enable womxn experiencing divorce & relationship transition to use their connection with their own bodies as a source of wisdom, strength, and emotional resilience in times of transition. She provides one-on-one coaching to womxn who are ready to rise on their unique Phoenix Path. Future offerings will include group courses and retreats. Courtney Reum wants food and beverage entrepreneurs to ask themselves one question: how can I make my company more ‘techable’? Reum is the co-founder of M13, a brand development and investment firm focused on “accelerating businesses at the nexus of consumer products, technology, and media.” Founded in 2016, M13 has investments in many well-known brands, including Lyft, Pinterest, Blue Bottle Coffee, Pressed Juicery and Snap. In an interview included in this episode of Taste Radio, Reum, who along with brother Carter launched M13 following the sale of their spirit brand Veev, spoke about his belief that the fundamentals for food and beverage business are evolving and, how companies can use technology to directly reach and better understand their consumers. “We’re getting so much data where it’s easier than ever to find your tribe, to get cohort data, that almost every brand its techable to some degree,” Reum said. Hear much more from Reum in our interview, including lessons from the rapid development of Veev, how brands can best identify white space in a crowded consumer products marketplace and M13’s philosophy regarding investment and incubation. Also in this episode: A conversation with Wing Lam, the wild and winsome co-founder of Wahoo’s, the iconic Southern California-based restaurant chain which serves Mexican cuisine tinged with Brazilian and Asian flavors. Lam discussed how Wahoo’s, which celebrated its 30th anniversary this year, has maintained and nurtured the spirit of its first location as it has expanded and how the company, known for its partnerships with surfers and surf-focused brands, identifies authentic partnerships. And in the latest edition of Elevator Talk, we’re joined by Simon Cheng, the CEO and co-creator of Pique Tea, a brand of “cold brewed tea crystals” that dissolve in water. Show notes: 2:23: From One Costa to the Another -- A couple of our esteemed hosts took some much deserved time off last week. Mike was in Costa Rica while John Craven visited Santa Monica; the pair discussed notable libations and foods during their travels. Kia Weatherspoon, founder of Determined by Design, joins Host Deirdre Breakenridge on Women Worldwide. Kia was a dancer turned soldier who then fell in love with interior design. Kia has ten years of diverse experience in hospitality design and management, high-end residential and multi-family design with a splash of architectural sales. Kia founded her company, Determined by Design in 2012 to begin creating spaces that eclipse current design trends. On the show, Kia discussed personal stories including when she first discovered the meaning of space. When living in the Middle East (just after 911) with 14 other women soldiers, she needed a reprieve to let out a flood of emotions. She took her issued troop sheets that were meant for her cot and hung them around her with string to create three sheet walls instead. Kia left active duty and has been creating spaces ever since. Kia also shared fond memories of her education at Moore College of Art and Design and how she was surrounded by women leaders and “the most visually talented women.” It was at Moore that she first recognized her true talent for design. Kia also mentioned her work (and favorite project) with Room to Rebloom, which is a non-profit that creates healing home environments for survivors of domestic violence. Kia worked with the organization to take women and children through the design process creating interior spaces that can really impact a person's life. A little more about Kia Weatherspoon… Kia believes in service-based leadership, demonstrated through active involvement with the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID). Her company, Determined by Design, uses a unique process that engages future patrons and neighbors in the design process through social media and technology. A little about our sponsor, Moore College of Art and Design... Moore College of Art & Design educates students for careers in art and design. Founded in 1848, Moore is the nation's first and only women's visual arts college for undergraduates. The College's career-focused environment and professionally active faculty form a dynamic community in the heart of Philadelphia's cultural district, surrounded by world-class museums. The College offers ten Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees for women and four coeducational graduate programs. In addition, Moore provides many valuable opportunities in the arts through The Galleries at Moore, Continuing Education Certificate programs for professional adults, the acclaimed Young Artists Workshop, The Art Shop and the Sculpture Park.  For more information about Moore, visit www.moore.edu You can connect with Kia on LinkedIn and Twitter @KiaWeatherspoon.  You can connect with Moore College of Art & Design on Twitter @MooreCollegeArt

Those beautiful flowers you see at a wedding or fancy event cost tons of money. At the end of the night those elaborate displays usually go straight in the trash, unless some enterprising partygoer takes them home.  That's where ReBloom steps in. Rebloom recycles the floral arrangements after big events, so they end up at your wedding the next day for cheap, or on your dining room table or on your desk at the office.instead of disappearing after a single night. On this episode of Smart Companies Radio you'll meet CEO and founder Jennifer Soffen who will share with guest host Mary McKenna how she developed the business that combined cheaper flowers with giving to charity and recycling.
