Can you hear that? It's the sound of a demonic monkey drumming up death and quite possibly the most fun you'll have in a theater all year. In this episode of The Discourse, host Mike DeAngelo sits down with writer-director Osgood Perkins to discuss his latest film, "The Monkey"—a twisted and darkly comedic horror adaptation of Stephen King's short story. The film follows twin brothers Bill and Hal who, as kids, stumble upon their father's old monkey toy in the attic. What follows is a series of gruesome deaths seemingly connected to the cursed object. Years later, after growing apart, the brothers are forced back together when the monkey resurfaces, bringing more chaos in its wake. The cast includes Theo James, Tatiana Maslany, Elijah Wood, Rohan Campbell, and Colin O'Brien.

This week we discuss the final installment (please let this be the last one) in the canon Halloween quadrilogy - Halloween Ends! This movie has been a little disappointing for many, being a departure from the normal mold that has propelled the Halloween franchise since 1978. That does not, however, mean that this film cannot stand on its own merits. So, does Halloween set itself up for failure by diverging from the mold, or does it add a refreshing mint leaf to the closure cocktail that is being served in the theater?Oh also But Is Halloween Ends Good?If you'd like to suggest a film or film franchise, or if you'd just like to say hello, you can reach us at biigpodcast@gmail.com, @biigpodcast on twitter, or @butisitgoodpodcast on instagram!

Happy Horror Wednesday? Ya that kinda works! Today your two hosts Matt and Mike review their third Harvest Horror Fest film of the season Halloween Ends starring Jamie Lee Curtis, Andi Matichak, James Jude Courtney, and Rohan Campbell. Bonus topics include taxes, the She Hulk finale is awful, and bathroom breaks. This one is a bit of a shocker for your two hosts. The critics and audience just really do not like Halloween Ends but Mike and Matt really enjoyed it. This is not your typical Halloween film. It has plenty of hack and slash but it also has a really good story. There is romance, moving on after trauma, and a very very satisfying end to Michael Myers. We are really going to try to not spoil this one here so let's just say this, Mike and Matt think you definitely should see this film especially in theaters. It is way better than the 2021 sequel Halloween Kills, heck it might even be the best film of the modern Halloween trilogy. The guys also agree on their rating awarding Halloween Ends 3.5 out of 5 Reels. Next week we end the 5th Annual Harvest Horror Fest the same way we have ended the previous two years with another Friday the 13th flick, Friday the 13th Part III! Maybe this one will be as good as the original since it was intended to be in 3D! Thanks for listening and we will chat with you next week! MOVIE DISCUSSION: Remember that wild Halloween Kills episode from last year? Melvin & Dan are ready to rock your world with a roaring sequel episode on Halloween Ends, a finale so bonkers it blows our minds!  Topics: (PATREON EXCLUSIVE) 34-minutes talking about Werewolf by Night, the borderline TV-MA Marvel special on Disney Plus! (PATREON EXCLUSIVE) Melvin and Daniel talk around the movie before actually getting into specifics, because that's what Halloween Ends has done to your hosts. Spoilers from the get-go, as Melvin and Daniel realize they can't discuss the movie much without getting into specifics. Daniel clocked it; it takes 40 minutes before Michael Myers even shows up in Halloween Ends. You practically forget it's a Halloween movie by this point. Daniel, "This really feels like a strange episode, a Halloween-themed episode of Twin Peaks." In isolation, a lot of the new ideas throughout Halloween Ends are neat, but the way all of them are used and balanced here is very poor. Melvin & Daniel agree: the diner scene is when the movie starts to lose them. There's actually a lot to appreciate and enjoy about Halloween Ends, including its general mood and atmosphere. Unlike most movies, all three of these Halloween features are exceptional at capturing atmosphere and look very sleek. As movie lovers, how we enjoy movies becomes much more complicated, as even the worst movies like Halloween Ends can become more enjoyable than the most competent ones. Melvin suspects the marketing, and the fact that this is a "trilogy finale" and not just another sequel with the expectation of another sequel soon after really impacts the reception and enjoyment of Halloween Ends. Melvin & Dan suspect Halloween Ends will earn a strange reevaluation as a black sheep in the Halloween franchise, largely due to its extremely strange ideas. Discussion: The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry: How to Stay Emotionally Healthy and Spiritually Alive in the Chaos of the Modern World by John Mark Comer (Book) Significant Other (2022) (Movie) Book of Deuteronomy: New International Commentary on the Old Testament by Peter C. Ocena filma Izvirni naslov: Halloween Ends Režiser: David Gordon Green Nastopajo: Jamie Lee Curtis, Andi Matichak, James Jude Courtney, Will Patton, Rohan Campbell, Kyle Richards Piše: Igor Harb Bere: Ajda Sokler S trinajstim filmom iz franšize Noč čarovnic se končuje še aktualna trilogija o neustavljivem psihopatskem morilcu Michaelu Myersu in nekdanji varuški Laurie Strode, ki mora dokončno obračunati s preteklostjo.

Director: David Gordon Green Writers: John Carpenter, Debra Hill, Paul Brad Logan Starring: Jamie Lee Curtis, Andi Matichak, James Jude Courtney, Rohan Campbell, Will Patton Runtime: 1 hour 51 minutes Synopsis: The saga of Michael Myers and Laurie Strode comes to a spine-chilling climax in the final installment of this trilogy. Halloween Kills was a surprisingly bad film. But maybe it wasn't too surprising since the way the 2018 film ended should have been the pin in the series. Of course they then decided to ignore logic and make Halloween Kills in 2021. Because that wasn't enough, we then got Halloween Ends and we can safely say, this should definitely be the final nail in both Michael Myers' coffin and the Halloween series. Seriously, what did we just watch? Why did they think anyone wanted to see a Halloween film with Michael Myers only being in the film for like 5 minutes? Worse, he's not the unstoppable force but just some big dude that can get beat up by a scrawny babysitter. And since when did Michael Myers being a psychopath become contagious?  Listen as Kriss, Ro & Brandon discuss this really really bad film. Seriously...wtf?   Like what you hear?
