When our guest today, Sarah Jenks was in her 20s, striving to get it all right, and be a good girl, she quickly found herself feeling exhausted, empty and struggling with emotional eating. One day, she stumbled upon sacred feminine ceremony and her life changed. She was inspired to dig into the history of sacred feminine ceremony, where she discovered how it has been branded by the oppressive patriarchy as evil and untrustworthy, and she connected the dots with the way many modern women don't trust our own magic, and are actually afraid of ourselves and our truth. Today, she shares the story of how she made it her mission to devote her life to get women into sacred feminine ceremony and weave the sacred feminine back into their everyday life. She now leads a community of over 100,000 women as an ordained priestess, and we explore how Sarah connect with the cyclical intelligence of her menstrual cycle to guide her life, relationships and work. As she shares in our playful, joyful, enriching conversation today; “my menstrual cycle helps me to track my process of becoming more and more myself.” We explore:Why Sarah doesn't organise her life around her cycle, but rather gives herself radical permission to show up exactly how she is on every cycle day. How she sources energy differently in her inner seasons; from her body in the follicular phase, from her sensuality when she's ovulating, from her wild, critical energy in her luteal phase, and from the earth and the deep feminine, in her bleed. What Sarah has learned from her study of ancient sacred feminine practices from many different traditions, with the moon and the menstrual cycle. ---Receive our free video training: Love Your Cycle, Discover the Power of Menstrual Cycle Awareness to Revolutionise Your Life - www.redschool.net/love---The Menstruality Podcast is hosted by Red School. Sarah thought she was destined to have an “in the box” life after going to a top college, working in advertising, and then creating a successful emotional eating company. One day she walked into her therapist's office where the remnants of a sacred circle from the night before were strewn on the living room floor. She had a full body “Remembering” of being in ceremony. Since that day she's been devoted to her own sacred practice and Temple skills and has devoted her life to creating spaces for women to have their own remembering. Sarah's work is centered around integrating Sacred Feminine wisdom and ceremony into our everyday lives, so that we can create the most rich, sexy, fun and meaningful existence. She offers mentorship programs and sacred council around the body, marriage, motherhood, and work, and runs an incredible monthly membership community where women and non-binary people come together for moonly ceremonies, astrology oracles, and lessons on the nuts and bolts of what it means to have a Sacred Feminine life. Today we're kicking off a 4-part series with return guest Layla Martin, where they will take you through their recent Priestess Pilgrimage through Greece. Together, they traveled to several sacred sites to have a visceral experience of the very same places where priestesses were serving medicine and practicing sacred sexuality rituals that helped to form the very fabric of Western society. Things like democracy, theater, even religion. In Part 1 they discuss what it means to be a high priestess, and why reclaiming words like “witch” and “priestess” empower people to connect with their own divinity. They also introduce the religion that has no name – something that humans have been practicing for millenia in order to connect with God through Nature, plants, animals, their own bodies, dance, music, medicines, breath, trance and meditation. Layla and Emily also give a history lesson on why people used to travel to Eleusis to change their perception of death and the afterlife. Plus, they explore why it's so hard to control people who have access to psychedelics and modalities such as breathwork, yoga, meditation and sacred sexuality. So why isn't everyone using psychedelics to tap into the divine? Discover the reason in this week's episode of Why Isn't Everyone Doing This? When we come in tune with the moon cycle, it's a way to come in tune with ourselves, and then when we come in tune with ourselves and our environment, there's an invitation to become more present.” – Ezzie SpencerWhat happens if you throw out what you think you know about calendars, goals, and noise—the magazines, commercials, comments from family members …?My mission is to help women move away from all that outside noise and tune into their own bodies, minds and souls so that they can guide themselves towards their best lives.I used to describe myself as a weird mix of very practical and a bit woo. I've come to realize that a lot of what I used to call woo is my most authentic feminine self… just living in a masculine world. I realized my conditioning around the calendar and masculine planning systems did not serve me. When I finally let go of the noise, I found the solution that let me shed 85 pounds, write a book, be there for my kids in ways I did not think a working mom could, and so much more.Tracking your energy levels and planning from an informed place can be a transformative practice — and the moon cycle fits right into that. I learned from FLOW's resident shaman, Julie Hannon; Sarah Jenks; and Ezzie Spencer.Learning about the moon cycles helped me track my natural tendencies and rhythms. That means I can make plans that reflect my natural flow. This has helped immensely with both my productivity and happiness. It took me out of the model where every day is the same, and into a more informed space of each day being a bit different, and that cycle repeating every 29 days. The coolest part about the moon as it relates to women and planning is that it helps us understand our own unique, consistent patterns — the tired days, the energetic days, the focused days, the loving days each repeat themselves in a very logical way. By knowing our energy, we gain a deeper understanding of our natural rhythms and patterns, and can identify our most productive times and low energy times. Our culture has told us that low energy times are “bad” and we need to always be productive, but this is not the feminine way. When my energy is low, and I rest, ideas often flood in. My creativity is high. The trick is to understand my energy highs and lows and craft a life that lets me respond to my energy accordingly. To do that, you need to know not only the cycle of the moon, but what that means for you! You do this by tracking.Tracking our energy empowers us to make more informed life choices, such as adopting healthier sleep routines, food habits, and stress-management techniques. This self-awareness helps recognize early signs of exhaustion, enabling us to take timely breaks and prevent long-term fatigue. By honing the skill of energy tracking and informed planning, we unlock the door to a more balanced, productive, and fulfilling life.Download the Moon Journal here to track your energy with the moon cycle.New Moons and Full MoonsEach part of the moon cycle has an energy, and you'll find that through tracking. The new moon and full moon are special times in the cycle.Keep track of the full and new moon dates, so you know when each one occurs. You can find the full and new moon dates for your location online or in a lunar calendar. New moons are for intention setting. I start my 90-day seasons on a New Moon, and our FLOW365 planning retreats often fall near new moons as well. “Intentions set on a New Moon will be blessed and held into reality.”– Sarah JenksFull moons are a time to manifest and release. Using the full moon as a symbolic time for self-reflection, manifesting, and release, can be a powerful practice for personal...

Today, I'm joined by Kate Northrup to talk about the threshold from ambitious, entrepreneurial women to becoming new moms. In our conversation, Kate shares how her priorities shifted across that threshold, from big productions to small sacred community. We also talk about the metaphorical winters in life - those times when ideas stop flowing. And we ask, how can we bundle ourselves up to relax into winter, instead of going into trauma physiology? Finally, we go into her most recent successful and sustainable work of relaxed money. Kate is highly intelligent, empathetic, kind, and has a great sense of humor. I know you'll love her as much as I do. Enjoy! In this episode you'll learn: [08:50] How motherhood became a threshold. [14:34] Katy's winter season. [21:10] Our cover crops. [26:32] Setting up layers of postpartum support. [36:46] Moving to Miami. [44:54] Allowing ourselves to take space. [51:14] We are all one, similar, and nothing alike. [53:12] Relaxed Money. This week, Sarah Jenks joins me for a special Valentine's Day episode to discuss the new paradigm of conscious relationships. In our conversation, Sarah reveals eye-opening realizations from her own marriage and the meaningful work she's integrated into her daily life in order to reshape the outcome of her relationship. If your partnership feels stagnant, you and your partner are growing in different directions, or the balance of shared responsibility feels off, you might need to bring alignment back into your relationship. Recognizing when this is happening can be challenging, especially when it is so easy to fall into patriarchal norms. Sarah gives listeners insight into what they should be looking out for in their own relationships, and offers tools and tips on how to navigate these checkpoints as they come up. This episode will teach you how to declare what you are willing to accept, even if that means your partner is not on board. The changes both she and her husband had to make became the building blocks for the program they co-created called Modern Marriage. Through this program, they teach other couples how to improve the quality of their relationship and create a rich, equal partnership. Whether you are single or in a relationship, there is always inner work to be done, so listen to this episode to learn how to make sure you are showing up as your full self and in your power in your romantic relationships. Listen to the episode on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcasts, Pocket Casts, Radio Public, or on your favorite podcast platform. Topics Covered: How to get your partner to stop resisting change when you are growing without them Where to recognize when you are acting out your internalized patriarchy The importance of radical honesty in modern marriage The number one trap Sarah sees women fall into and how to stop it from happening to you How to invite more romance into your long-term partnership Distinguishing when it's time to walk away, versus continuing to call your partner forward Guest Info: Learn more about Sarah's offerings on her website Join Sarah's online course and community Learn more about Modern Marriage with Sarah and Jonathan Find Sarah on Instagram Special Offer: Work 1:1 with Amy in The Empowered Feminine Mentorship Follow Me: Find me on Instagram Visit my website Empowered Feminine Morning Ritual
“Planning is choosing in advance, so you can decide from a place of calm.”– Mia MoranI have shared a lot about how this is my favorite time of year.solmigadesign@gmail.comove lights, trees, presents, family-time, the feeling of the winter holiday — AND I also love the challenge and opportunity of practicing being my true self in a time with lots of obstacles. One of the choices I am making this year is to take time off, REALLY.For years, I was confused about vacation. When the kids were younger, I thought of my kids' time off as my time off. I would say yes to client work as an escape. On Friday, my youngest gets out of school. On Saturday, I will pick up my oldest from college. My middle one doesn't get out of school until the 23rd. None of this defines my time off or my vacation. What does vacation really mean to me?Vacation means I'm not doing everything. That means I'm not the one doing all the extra: more dirty dishes, more meals, more tidying than usual. It's so easy for me to slip back into the “mom” who does it all, so the way I stick to this one is consistent clarity. I have to remind myself — and the others in my family that doing all the home stuff is not my job alone.Vacation means I'm not doing client work. One of the reasons I am a good coach is that I really hold the energy of my clients. I can do this sick, tired, and even when I feel disorganized. Still, I need to reset and recharge a few times a year. I need space to reset and recharge, so I can hold space for others.Vacation means I have self-care sprinkled into every day.For me that includes real basics like clean food and hydration. It also includes:Journaling YogaSupplement ProtocolTo protect all these things, I need to block out time for it. There will be moments I go above and beyond for my kids, and there will also be moments where I will just walk out the door to go to hot yoga.Your self-care may look different, but whatever it is you need to protect the time for it. Vacation means I'm honoring MY plan.I am not relying on school holidays, bank holidays, my husband's holidays, or my own past limiting beliefs about what a holiday or vacation is. I am relying on myself and really choosing.I'm choosing what my holiday looks like — what feels good to me, not the “ideal” that isn't in alignment with what I want or need.I'm choosing my time off. My official dates are December 21 – January 2. And I'm being intentional about that time. While I said no work on vacation, I'm allowing some FLOW365 planning on December 28 and 29, because it's planning that serves me.I'm making intentional choices based on my own wants and needs. I'm making choices for my future self. One of the questions in the 2023 planning book is about what your ideal life really looks like — uncensored. Many thanks to Sarah Jenks for this question.Who are you becoming? What choices do you need to make to become that person? What would she prioritize? What is she capable of?It's not always easy, but it always makes sense. Doable Changes from this episode:BLOCK OFF TIME OFF. We all need time to reset and recharge. Time “off” that is devoted to doing all the things for everyone, spent wrangling logistics of travel and visiting, or creating an “ideal” holiday, is not the same as recharge time. Block off time to recharge time and decide what you want to do with that time.DEFINE VACATION. I shared some of my fuzzy thinking about vacation in the past and how I am defining it now. Make a list of what vacation means to you. What do you...
Wowza! Today we are diving RIGHT ON IN to the healthy-ish conversation. Hearing Sarah Jenks' health, body, food, and weight story - where she's been stuck and where she's found solutions - is BIG. Some of it will feel all too relatable! Some of it may poke into spaces you've been avoiding. All of it will get you thinking - and that's really the goal. In this episode, we chat about all things, including: a childhood of dieting when body positivity becomes body ignoring headaches and exhaustion all day, as the norm a health crisis turning a lyme diagnosis and complete heart block into a process of self-exploration and healing why how you feel in your body and how your body functions is SO important resistance to healing when rejection and rebelliousness toward diet culture just becomes a rejection and rebellion against ourselves how do we disconnect from the cultural ideal as we find our best, healthiest weight/body? We BEGIN this very important conversation. why being rigid is NOT sexy looking at food but also looking at how we approach alcohol AND SO MUCH MORE!! This week, G brings one of her teachers to the pod—a fellow mom of 3 who also happens to be a Priestess, Sarah Jenks. In this conversation, G excitedly quizzes Sarah on the definitions of and historical context of layer upon layer of the internalized patriarchy of the modern woman. If you've wanted a deeper understanding of the Sacred Feminine, the patriarchy, the stories of Mary Magdalene or what it means to be in “ceremony,” this episode will go beyond informative and activate resonance. Listen in to learn what happens when women remember the untold stories of the empowered, magical and wealthy female archetypes that lived during Jesus' time and re-integrate their souls as modern day holy women. In this episode Gervase and Sarah discuss: {16:30} – The various definitions and types of “ceremony” available today {17:20} - How all the sacred feminine lineages are “remembered” because they were all deliberately erased #boom {18} How she uses her priestess training (and physics) to create a coherent energetic field {20} Sarah's definition of the ‘Sacred Feminine” {21:47} The full body, emotional reaction G experienced after learning about the Sacred Feminine {32} The way the patriarchy removed women from their power and convinced them their natural magic was “evil” {39:30} Why we can't fight for abortion rights or better gun laws until we are internally free #itsallmemindset [41:30] The radical notion that Jesus' mother AND wife were not who the Bible says they were Sarah Jenks is a Priestess and Founder of a Global Sacred Feminine Temple. Ever had a partner who doesn't want to go to therapy? Ever felt like you were taking on an unfair share of the household management? In today's episode, Kassi talks to Sarah Jenks about her groundbreaking new couples' course, The Modern Marriage. Sarah shares about the breakdown of her marriage, how she got her husband to go to therapy and take on inner work for himself, the exact percentage of household management she was shouldering alone (and how you can calculate it for yourself), why women are hardwired to not ask their partners for more, how her husband helped her create an equitable partnership, and how together they revolutionized their marriage, sex life, financial life, and co-parenting journey. This one's for all the wild women who are into personal development and partnered with epic men who are—as Sarah puts it—"pretending to be normal." I want to create a marriage where we're both growing and where we speak the same language. –Sarah Jenks On this episode of the PlanSimple Podcast, I'm really excited to talk with my good friend Sarah Jenks again! Sarah has been in the personal development space, empowering women around their bodies and spirituality and empowerment and feminism for 12 years. Today, we're talking about marriage. Sarah discusses her fear of outgrowing her husband because of the personal development work she was doing, while he was staying stuck. She dispels the myth that she could do all the work for both of them. In talking about the need for both partners to do inner work and work on their marriage, she explains its not just about the marriage but also about not undoing all the inner work women do for themselves. We talk about an imbalance of money and how that affects the dynamic in a couple along with other antiquated ideas about marriage that people often get stuck in. We talk about: Rethinking how we think about money, including spending and who has the right to it Our partner not being the problem, the marriage being the problem Creating new agreements and dynamics and standards for how you show up with each other in your marriage Why both partners need to be invested at the beginning of a marriage course Different ways to talk about wanting to do this marriage work How conflict shows up in our other relationships and our bodies BIO Sarah Jenks is the mother of three, a woman who has struggled with body image and lack of direction, and someone who knows what it's like to feel flat, overwhelmed, frumpy and exhausted. Through her own transformation and years of study in the Sacred Feminine, emotional eating and life coaching, she has been guiding thousands of women for over 10 years through the process of remembering their brilliance and their unique mission in this lifetime. LINKS https://sarahjenks.com/ Living in Your Box with Sarah Jenks It Only Takes One with Stacey Martino Doable Changes from this episode: ADDRESS “I CAN'T AFFORD IT.” If you find yourself saying, you can't afford something that might shift your personal experience, like working on your marriage or getting a babysitter so you can have conversations, look at where you are spending money. Start with a list of recent purchases and monthly expenses. Consider whether you could afford something that could make a real difference in your life. RETHINK WHO MAKES MONEY. If you fall into the paradigm of one person making the money and thus having control over the money. Start to factor in the value of the work done by the partner who makes less or no money. Start to factor in how taking care of the kids, driving them to school, being home at night with them helps the other person make money. Start to shift the paradigm. SAY WHAT YOU NEED. If you are unhappy in your marriage, if you want to work toward change, say how you feel and what you need. Sarah talks about a few different ways she tried this conversation and acknowledges that she had to say it several times before it sunk in or connected. If you aren't ready to say it, think through what it is you need to say.

How do we create a life that is a true expression of who we are? Today, my soul-sister Sarah Jenks joins the show for an incredibly powerful conversation. Before Sarah had kids, she devoted years of her life to being at peace with her body. The freedom and joy she experienced birthed her international program, Live More Weigh Less, where thousands of women have found freedom from emotional eating and fallen in love with their bodies. Live more weigh less was celebrated in publications such as Forbes, Success Magazine, Health Magazine, Parenting Magazine and Martha Stewart Living. After Sarah had her first child, she felt like all of the freedom, magic, and sparkle of her life and soul were sucked out of her. Being a mother was so all-consuming, and she realized she was falling into the trap that so many women get stuck in. The trap of putting everybody's happiness before our own. Sarah spent many years in a tireless search for her soul through working with shamans, coaches, spiritual teachers and traveling to many sacred sites. This helped Sarah land in a life that feels like a true expression of who she is. Sarah rarely does things that she doesn't want to do + she feels fully supported by her husband in their home life. Sarah has an incredibly deep connection with her kids, husband, soul, nature, and the magic that exists in the world around us. Now Sarah stands for women to end the pattern of taking scraps after everyone in their lives has feasted. In this episode, Sarah Jenks and I talk about navigating the internalized ways the patriarchy gets us stuck and how women need a sacred feminine practice to understand their life and the world. Through Sarah's transformational work, she teaches us how to reconnect with our relationships with ourselves, our marriage, our motherhood and our nature. In this Episode You'll Learn: All about today's guest, Sarah Jenks [ 1:20 ] How Sarah grew into the woman she is today [ 5:50 ] The ways Sarah found her divine feminine [ 11:00 ] About our ancestral fears [ 18:50 ] How to navigate mom guilt as an ambitious woman [ 26:40 ] Why our children will not feel internalized patriarchy [ 35:25 ] How to take responsibility in our marriages [ 44:25 ] Soul Shifting Quotes: “Feel permission to be yourself.” “Experience who we truly are.” “We have everything we need within us.” “When we look at life as a mystery school, we can have more compassion for our lessons.” “Be a woman, have feelings, and show them.” Links Mentioned: Learn my 7 Secrets to Uplevel Your Brand & Land Your Dream Clients Grab your FREE training, How to Call in Your Tribe + Create Content that Converts Text me at 603-931-4386 Learn more about Sarah by following her on Instagram or heading to https://sarahjenks.com Sign up for Whole Woman Tag me in your big shifts + takeaways: @amberlilyestrom Did you hear something you loved here today?! Last week I shared how I felt completely stuck trying to figure out where my family and I should live, and whether we should sell our home (among many other decisions that life is asking me to make without any guidance from our chosen leadership). What I didn’t share last week is that my dear friend Sarah Jenks and her family came to visit us — and while playing in my backyard, she reflected something to me that helped me decide, instantly. It’s no surprise that Sarah helped me ground and experience both personal and business breakthroughs. It helps that she’s a renowned life coach of 10+ years who’s guided thousands of women through the process of remembering their brilliance and their unique mission in this lifetime through sacred feminine practices... The wisdom and guided visualization Sarah shares in this episode can help you make tough decisions and remember your big dreams, even in these uncertain times. You’ll have an opportunity to go even deeper into the magic of your heart and your power as a woman to recognize where you have a choice that you may not be actively engaging with right now in any area where you are feeling stuck. In this episode I speak with Sarah Jenks about being unapologetic and breaking the rules so that we can become who we really are. She shares what prevents us from living life how we really want to -- and how to shift that. She describes the #1 fear that she sees in women on a spiritual path: outgrowing their partners, and talks about what happens when men get invited into the growth experience. She talks about the importance of being vulnerable to find our greatest strength, and how to identify your peak experiences to illuminate your biggest expression in life.

So many women wake up one day and are hit with the revelation; “I have everything I ever wanted, why aren't I happy?” Through earth based spirituality, historical perspective and inspirational coaching, Sarah gives women permission to finally get out of the “one size fits all” mentality to happiness and create a life that is truly theirs. Sarah has been featured in Success Magazine, Parents Magazine, Health Magazine, Martha Stewart and Glamour. In this show she shares more about her emotional eating journey, how she discovered that she was bored with her life and how she "rehabbed" it. After years of hating her body and using food for comfort and to reduce stress, Sarah learned that she didn't need to use food in order to feed what was missing. That's when her whole life started to shift. Sarah shares how this life change led her to buy a retreat center - where she brings women together on retreats and in full moon ceremonies. We also talk about the cycles of the moon, the divine feminine, why we should all go on retreat and the power that happens when women come together in circle. On this episode Rachel speaks to Sarah Jenks, creator of Whole Woman and Live More Weigh Less on speaking our truth and the ways in which women keep themselves stuck feeling overwhelmed, plagued with guilt and not feeling enough www.sarahjenks.com
Sarah Jenks is the mother to 3 rambunctious small humans. Life Coach, Emotional Eating Expert and Sacred Space Holder.c It’s so easy to lose ourselves in work, in motherhood, in our parents’ expectations, or our own outdated dreams. We’ve all had times when we’ve had to put our heads down – like when there’s a new baby or severe financial stress – when cutting off parts of ourselves is our only chance for survival. Sarah is here to guide you in coming back to life, not so you can be who you were before, but so you can take the broken pieces and create an even more incredible life and truly realize your fullest potential. She founded Whole Woman, an online membership program for women seeking the answers to “Who am I? And why am I here?” — you can find out more about that at whole woman.me She also is the creator of Live More Weigh Less – the most popular Online Emotional Eating Program. Since 2009 her community of women seeking a more meaningful life has grown to almost 100K. Why do you think so many people are waiting to live more? Why do you think we are conditioned to wait? Sarah thinks many women have been indoctrinated with false facts in the culture they live in. The biggest of them is that women are told they will be happy if they are thin and that lie keeps a lot of women stuck in moving forward in their lives. It is a patriarchal tool to keep women quiet and to not speak or stand up for what they believe in. This is not based in truth because there are numerous other reasons to take care of your body rather than just to be thin to take care of it. To be thin as per the standards set by society is not possible for a lot of women and this keeps them from truly living their lives. Sarah’s work has taken an amazing trajectory, she started in the emotional eating area. One day she ate an entire bag of chocolate biscuits, only with 5 more remaining in the bag. She threw them in the trash but after some time fished them out of trash. She was twenty-five at that time. Sarah realized at that moment that it might be difficult for her to maintain a healthy diet for the rest of her life. Sarah realized that when she stopped obsessing over everything she ate and the way she looked, her life became boring. Soon she stopped craving for unhealthy food and it was a big transformation for her. Through this experience, she found spirituality and a whole new world opened for her. How did you find spirituality? She got an email from her friend when she was at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition to go to one of Gabriel Bernstein’s coaching program which was in her apartment. Sarah started to meditate after this session. Through these sessions, she started to learn about the priestess initiation path, divine feminine and the history of witches. It has been a great way for her to practice by not waiting on things. How do you think you got to know yourself better? Sarah started to figure out things she loved doing. She started to ask herself questions like what was fun for her. It’s a lot easier to start from the initial phase, to look out for things that make you happy and content. She started taking voice lessons again, she started going to dance classes. The second step for her was to look for actions or activities that she was doing in her life but were not aligned with her personality, her likes and dislikes. She realized she was being a performer in her work. She did a photo-shoot where she borrowed her friend’s convertible. She was trying to be someone she was not in reality. She used to believe if she would stop performing she would not succeed in her life. However, she realized that not being herself was a lot more painful than being broke. How do you think being a mother changed you? It changed her in ways she cannot even imagine. Motherhood has been hard and challenging for Sarah. Before becoming a mother, she had this belief system that all she really needed for happiness is a nice and caring husband, a house and a couple of kids. She used to think that when she would have kids she would want to retire and become a full-time mother. However, only after she became a mother, she felt quite the opposite of her beliefs. She felt guilty about it because she wanted to spend all the time with her children. This also helped her understand how she was different from her grandmother, her mother, a few of her friends and some other women that she admires. It has also forced her to be critical of how and with whom she spends her time. How did motherhood affect your business? It affected her a lot in her business. She tried to conduct her day to day business activities as usual after the birth of her son, but it was hard for her to manage her business and look after her son all at the same time. She would continuously transition from what she calls a ‘corporate Sarah’ to a ‘mother Sarah’ and vice versa. Tell us about the story of how you found yourself your dream home. It was almost two years ago when Sarah found herself in a place where she felt she would lose herself after having her kids. She did not want to be a hustler, but she did not want to be a full-time mom either. She couldn’t see a future for herself anymore and nothing excited her anymore. She worked with this woman named Katina Mercadante (http://www.katinamercadante.com). She did this exercise with her in which Sarah would tell her life story to her and they would together uncover what Katina called Sarah’s true core virtue. Sarah would then write down her plan in incredible detail of where she envisioned herself in the span of five years. Katina helped Sarah to reconnect with her true inner values. Sarah wrote this whole plan about what she wanted to do in her life in the coming years. She wrote about getting women together in person in New England to help them wake up the divine feminine. She wrote about this vision of women circling in big fields, dancing naked in the woods under the full moon. She wanted to build a yurt for herself in the woods. She wanted to have a stream running through her property. She had always imagined a long driveway with trees. Two weeks later, she found herself a farmhouse just outside of Boston. She looked it up online, she looked at the pictures and all of it matched exactly as Sarah had imagined. It was way over her budget though. Luckily the owner of the firm that was selling this property turned out to be Sarah’s high school therapist. She was the first person to help Sarah help her with body issues. One thing led to another and Sarah finally bought the house against the advice of all her family members which included her parents and grandparents. How did you meet your husband? They met in college in a history class. They were both very different persons back then. Sarah would do anything to please the people around her. She hosted all the parties. Her husband was a football player. They have both become very spiritual ever since. What is your vision for women? Her vision for women is to only think about who they are and to always think from that place. They should not feel the pressure to be someone different. What is the best advice you have ever been given? The best advice she has ever been given is from one of her mentor who said: “Sarah you are not the princess, you are the witch in the woods, you need to get comfortable with that.” This had a huge impact on how Sarah sees herself, on how she does her work. It took so much pressure off her as well. How can we connect with you? Sarah Jenks is one of my favorite friends on the planet and has been ever since November 2010. She’s the friend who will always shoot you straight and do it with love exactly when you need it. Now that she’s a mom with two littles under three, she’s even more discerning and straight forward because ain’t no mamas got time to waste! We take a deep dive into new motherhood in this conversation, why things don’t have to be beautiful in order to love them (like your babies when they’re fresh out of the womb and haven’t settled into not being crammed in there quite yet!), relating to emotional eating through physical sensations and more. I love this woman with all my heart - enjoy listening to us catch up and jam on some of women’s biggest issues. About Sarah Jenks: Most importantly, Sarah Jenks is a woman who loves to have deep and meaningful conversations, dance, play outside, decorate, pray and spend time with herself. She is also a mother to an exuberant baby boy, Marshall, a beautiful daughter, Annabelle, and a wife to the most thoughtful, handsome, intelligent man, Jonathan. She’s from a small town outside of Boston where she grew up with loving parents who loved each other very much, and two younger, confident, creative siblings. She is a recovering perfectionist. She used to wear makeup everyday and made sure the house was always pristine. She’s learning to let that all go in service of being real and spontaneous. Sarah attended Williams College where she threw a lot of parties and was the president of her class. She majored in Psychology and took a ton of Art History classes. She plans on owning a house in her college town someday. She and Jonathan will probably be those old people doing keg stands on the porch. After college she had a short stint in event planning, then PR and then became and account manager at an advertising firm where she spent more time binging on chocolate in the supply closet than doing her work. She then figured out what she wanted to be when she grew up and attended the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. Most of her training comes from my unending curiosity about her own inner world. She has been coached and trained by some of the best therapists, life coaches, intuitives, spiritual teachers and healers in the world. She was voted “Miss tell it like it is” in her high school yearbook, so expect a healthy dose of honesty and bluntness, and she will probably make you cry, in a good way. Her favorite food is red wine. Sarah loves to tell stories, and has been told she’s pretty good at it. And she does so weekly on her site, so to make sure you don’t miss anything, she would love for you to sign up for updates. In this episode, Sarah shares: 1. Tending to your body as a mother 2. You don’t have to be beautiful to be loved 3. How to be resourceful when you don’t have a ton of resources 4. Navigating the physical and emotional sides of dealing with food 5. Your Life is worth working on
