Stacy is also the founder of the non-profit, Savvy Ladies™, host of the Financially Ever After podcast, and the author of the white paper, Unveiling the Unspoken Truth: The Financial Challenges Women Face During and After Divorce. Early in Stacy's life, she witnessed how devastating life could be for women who were not empowered through financial education. Her grandmother stayed in an abusive marriage because she did not have the skills to effectively deal with money. That experience changed Stacy's life and drove her to help women take charge of their finances and become financially empowered. Her career started at a large firm where she soon realized that the difference she wanted to make required more freedom. Stacy founded Francis Financial to create a place where her clients feel taken care of in every aspect of their financial life. In addition to Francis Financial, she began holding financial workshops in her New York City apartment, which quickly revealed how great the need was for educating women about their finances. This led Stacy to create Savvy Ladies Inc., a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization founded in 2003, that brings financial planning education to women. A year & a half after moving from Eagle, CO, a place I had spent 27 years of my life & a place I never thought I'd leave, I decided to venture back.  My original reason for leaving was spurred on by divorce, house sale, inability to afford living there on my own, as well as a need to decompress, and so I headed to NC to spend time with my parents.Although I initially planned to head back to CO I found myself comfortable in where I was and no longer feeling the almost unbearale pull to return "home". That being said, I still had a desire to return for reasons other than just going back to see friends and possibly pick up work shifts from some previous employers. What were those reasons? I wasn't really sure. I couldn't pinpoint what was feeding my inner desire to return to the place where I felt I had lost so much.  Well... now that I'm here I'm finding answers to all my questions! First & formemost I discovered I've come back to leave differently! I originally left feeling angry, sad, mad, overwhelmed, afraid, and as though I was being pushed out! I felt very much like a victim.  Well now I'm going to leave on MY terms! :) But it's taken me returning to realize the purpose in my returning ;)  Have YOU ever felt as though you had to leave somewhere before you were ready? Ever felt the need to return to, or revisit, a place/job/relationship/etc. that you felt you had "unfinished" business with?  If so, perhaps you'll hear in this episode something that inspires you to go back and find closure so as to honestly & authentically get on with YOUR life. As of today I am truly living my BEST life! A life beyond my wildest dreams! And the coolest part is that it looks NOTHING like I thought it would/should ;)  Here's to facing fear, healing, and perhaps GOING BACK TO LEAVE DIFFERENTLY :) **DISCLAIMER: Please take note that any references to ketamine infusions or any other form of medicinal treatments, mainstream or non mainstream, are strictly meant to provide an insight into my own experiences. Nesting After Divorce: Co-Parenting in the Family Home by Beth Behrendt In the spirit of Conscious Uncoupling comes a guide for a child-centered approach to parenting after divorce—known as nesting—that will change what it looks like to move forward as a family after a marriage ends. Research suggests when a couple separates, children suffer the most, as they're typically shuttled back and forth between two different homes. When Beth Behrendt and her husband divorced, she found a better way: She gave her children custody of the home, while she and her husband moved around. After successfully implementing more than six years of what's known as “nesting,” Behrendt has created a step-by-step guide for divorcing parents to introduce the practice in their own families. In Nesting After Divorce, Behrendt provides a coparenting program that can start when an unhappily married couple considers the pros and cons of a nesting divorce. She offers advice on deciding whether nesting is the right choice for a family and communicating the concept to a spouse, children, friends, and family. She outlines the steps for assembling a nesting “team” of legal, financial, and mental health professionals and even shows how, surprisingly, nesting is often a more affordable approach to divorce than the traditional two-home model. Behrendt's divorce book expands upon her viral 2017 New York Times essay “After Divorce, Giving Our Kids Custody of the Home,” and is the perfect guide for anyone seeking a healthy, amicable divorce for their family.

Lately I've been asking myself pretty regularly, "Where the hell am I and where am I going?" Be it figuratively or literally I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who's uttered those words ;) I happen to be in the midst of a whole new life experience! And it's one that has me, to a certain extent, physically lost as well as mentally and emotionally lost.  That being said it's quite the adventure! And one that I am finding joy in, even though the waters are still often murky ;) Perhaps you've been where I am? If not, you'll most likely end up here eventually ;) On that note I invite you to listen in as I share about what it's like for me to be in Uncharted Territory. My hope in sharing is that it might bring humor, validation, comfort, and/or and easing of anxiety or fear about your own experience with feeling lost.  I've been told that "the only way out is through", so remember that even though we may never meet each other we ARE walking the path together :) Lifeline (988lifeline.org) Crisis Intervention | HopeLine (hopeline-nc.org) CALL OR TEXT: 919-231-4525 | 877-235-4525 Eagle Valley Hope Center: Your Hope Center YOUR 24/7 SUPPORT LINE: (970) 306-4673 Life Love Music & Space Travel (lifelovemusicandspacetravel.com) Need some conversation boosting material? Guest Introduction: This is Exploring the Seasons of Life podcast episode 34. I’m Cindy MacMillan and today’s guest is Marvis Matarozzo. Welcome to Exploring the Seasons of Life, a podcast for women with a big heart on a spiritual journey. Each week, join Cindy MacMillan as she interviews coaches, spiritual explorers and celebrants from all walks of life about beginnings, endings and the messy bits in-between. Self-love, well-being, and mindset are at the heart of our conversations because once you change the inside, the outside will begin to change as well.   Welcome back to Exploring the Seasons of Life podcast and thanks for listening. I can’t wait for you to meet my guest today. Marvis is a survivor of domestic violence. Her husband was a police officer and used his contacts to sway the outcome of their divorce, including the judge- who is the sister to the woman he was having an affair with (and married). Despite all that, Marvis turned all the negative around and now helps other women transitioning through life’s challenges to explore their new life, stay away from pity-parties and to cherish their newfound confidence. Here’s a glimpse of our conversation: 2:18: Well, the seasons of life, when you first say that you picture your life is broken into just four equal parts. And that to me, that is really not true. I picture my life as a book and every adventure is a chapter, every part of your story is another sentence in your chapter. And I just say I keep turning the pages of my book.  5:02 As a coach, we do not tell our clients what to do, we guide them through so that they find their own answer. And because it's her answer, and her story, then she will find a way to pursue what she's looking for.  6:31 Well, the very first thing you want to do is to make sure that this is what you want, it is very hard. And sometimes it's not your choice, sometimes your spouse will come to you and say, I'm getting a divorce. In my case, I am the one that said I want a divorce. And I surprised myself, as much as I surprised my ex by saying that, but once the snake was out of the can, so to speak, there was no going back.  15:26: And that is actually abuse, because they are denying you the rest and sleep you need. So I think a lot of women are not educated enough or aware enough of all the different little things that are true abuse, and we ignore it, we make excuses for our abuser, we say, well, I got a roof over my head, I eat three meals a day. And so we keep allowing it to happen.  26:45: Also, before I go, I want to tell you that I just wrote a book. It's on Amazon. And it is Find Your Strength: Before, During and After Divorce. So that will give you a little bit more of my background story. It's got some helpful hints in there. And just a lot of good reading. So thank you very much. Resources Mentioned:  Find Your Strength: Before, During and After Divorce You can find Marvis Matarozzo at: Website Thank you for listening to this week's episode of Exploring the Seasons of Life and my conversation with Marvis. I enjoyed our conversation, and she had some good tips navigating a divorce. Beautiful friends, I have been remiss. Should men manage the money? | Episode 36

Breaking Money Silence®

Stacy Francis, CFP®, CDFA®, CES™, Francis Financial  The myth that men should manage the money is one that many women succumb to when they get married. This includes women who for years managed their own money during college and at the beginning of a career. However, approximately 80% of women will end up having to manage their money without a partner at some point in their life due to divorce or the death of a spouse. Stacy and Kathleen investigate this myth and how it can severely disadvantage women throughout their lives. Key Take Aways: The upside. There is an upside to men always managing the money. In the short run, some women who are intimidated by finances or who don’t feel they have the time to devote to money management get relief from this responsibility. Eventually, the upside diminishes and can create a real problem for women after a divorce, or the death of their partner. Try a money date. A great way to get more comfortable with money is to have a date night to talk about finances in a non-threatening and engaging way. Listen and learn how Stacy and her husband have gotten creative with their money dates so everyone gets their needs met. Use apps. It is important for each person to fully understand where the money is going. Using finance tools like Mint.com is a great way to integrate spending with education about where your money is going. It is an easy online system that connects with your bank accounts, tracks your spending, and even categorizes them for you. Special Offer: Stacy recently released her own podcast.
