Send us a text! We'd love to hear your thoughts on the show.In this episode of The Resilient Writers Radio Show, I had the absolute pleasure of chatting with Canadian author Alexis von Konigslow—and what a fascinating conversation it was.Alexis is the author of The Capacity for Infinite Happiness, and her latest novel The Exclusion Zone is one of those books that stays with you long after you've put it down. Set in the haunting and still-radioactive landscape surrounding Chernobyl, it follows a scientist grappling with fear—both personal and collective—and offers an atmospheric, anxiety-tinged exploration of what it means to confront the unknown. We dug into the origin of Alexis's obsession with the Exclusion Zone (spoiler: it started with a commute and a news article) and how her deep dives into science and nature sparked the seed of this novel. Alexis brings a unique perspective as someone with a background in mathematical physics and a day job as a technical writer—she's fluent in both the scientific and creative languages, and she uses that skill to craft stories that bridge the two.I loved hearing about her writing process, which, as she humbly shared, involved a lot of “stolen moments”—from writing in the Notes app on her phone while standing in line at the grocery store, to letting scenes unfold in her mind during a daily commute. This book took ten years from first draft to publication, and Alexis doesn't shy away from how real life—work, parenting, and all the everyday details—complicated that process. But she kept going, one minute at a time.We also talked about writing fear and tension into your setting and how emotional honesty—pulling off the band-aid, as Alexis put it—can help create that lived-in, visceral feeling for the reader. She shared some beautiful insights about being open to observation and about writing the kind of book only you can write, even if it takes longer, and even if it's different from what the market “wants.”If you're someone who's balancing writing with a busy life, wondering how to stay true to your creative voice, or just love a good science-meets-story moment, this episode is for you.The Exclusion Zone is out in May 2025 from the always-fabulous Canadian indie press Wolsak & Wynn. Go grab your copy—and get ready to be unsettled in the best possible way.

Dr. Gerald Pollack, Professor of Bioengineering at the University of Washington, shares insights from his groundbreaking book, The Fourth Phase of Water. He introduced "EZ water" (Exclusion Zone water), a structured form of water (H3O2) that forms upon contact with most surfaces and differs fundamentally from conventional H2O. This unique phase generates an electric charge, offering energy with potential applications in medicine, agriculture, energy production, and health. Dr. Pollack discussed his experiments and how this discovery could revolutionize our understanding of water's role in biology, chemistry, and beyond, paving the way for innovative uses in science and technology. Sara also explains the concept of exclusion zone water, and how it acts as a barrier to keep toxins out of our cells. She encourages people to focus on improving their internal and external environment in order to maintain good health.Sara Pugh is very passionate about water because the physics behind it is complex but works as the perfect medium for communication within a living organism. Water carries energy and information and also acts as a semiconductor, making it our body's "water battery." Red light therapy, approved in Europe and Latin America, has been shown to reduce the effects of macular degeneration. February 22nd 2024 Yuriy narrates the tragic life of Alexei Navalny, a prominent Russian opposition figure with Ukrainian roots. The last hour of the journey passes through the so-called Exclusion Zone, the area most affected by the Chernobyl nuclear power plant explosion. Prolonged exposure where is deadly, and therefore it is forbidden to live where on both sides of the road, one can see half-ruined villages. Their inhabitants were resettled to other parts of Ukraine in 1986, the year of the catastrophe. Among those evacuated was the Navalny family- the grandmother of the future Russian politician, his uncles and aunts and cousins. Most of which Chernobyl Navalnys were settled near the beautiful and quiet town of Bucha. At that time, Alexei Navalny was attending school in Moscow. His father has left his homeland for Russia and remained where his son Alexei was born in Moscow.  In 2022, Russian invaders came to Bucha and the surrounding villages among the many local residents they killed, there was at least one Navalny. The body of a murdered man was later found with his passport in his hands. It seems that the invaders, checking his documents, saw the oppositionist last name, and killed an innocent person solely for that reason. Alexei himself wrote about this incident from prison where a smartphone had been smuggled to him. Despite his Ukrainian origin and family in Ukraine, Alexei hardly felt close to our country. On the contrary, he managed to become almost an enemy of Ukraine. He did not condemn the occupation of Crimea, welcomed the creation of his support centers there, and once even openly stated that he would not return Crimea to Ukraine if he became president of Russia. He wouldn't return it because, to quote him, "Crimea is not a sandwich to be passed back and forth." Since then, Ukrainians have called him "not a sandwich."  Navalny's attitude towards Crimea and his unwillingness to recognize the illegality of the occupation of part of Ukraine can be explained by the fact, but he genuinely believed that he could be elected to power in Russia. And Russians, the majority of whom were very happy about the seizure of foreign lands, would never have voted for a person who told them that they were rejoicing in a crime. Alexei Navalny believed too much in Russians, he had too much and completely unfounded hope for them and their support, and they betrayed him. First, they let him be sent to prison in the Arctic Circle and then they allowed him to be killed in that prison. Neither his justification of the occupation no other dubious but attractive statement for the Russian voter helped him.  I used to think that his life could have been very different if he had gone to Ukraine in 2014, when Russia was just beginning its invasion. He had the right to Ukrainian citizenship because of his roots, and it seemed to me, that here he could have used his political talents to fight against the occupation, not support it. But now I understand that fate had prepared a completely different mission for him. By his imprisonment and his death, he showed the world that there can be no honest change of power in Russia, that a candidate, even one who covers up the crimes of the region, but otherwise an opposition figure is doomed to torture and death. Russia is like a cursed kingdom from a terrible fairy tale where there can be no happy ending, where the main good hero does not mind seizing part of neighboring kingdom, and when this hero is captured and sent to certain death by the ugly and evil king, there is no one who could even try to save him.

In this week's episode, Nicky, Eric, and special guest Seth Eltz, learn how to make DIY gas masks from tooth paste and a lighter in a conspiracy filled episode of Press any Button. What we played and are reviewing for this episode is specifically the DMZ mode in Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0.  Warzone 2.0 is the free to play mode in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 which is a 2022 reboot sequel to the 2009 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 game.  The DMZ mode is described as an "extraction mode" and "sandbox experience" where players battle against both AI-controlled and player-controlled opponents while attempting to exfil with loot they find within the Exclusion Zone. Players start out with a limited inventory, which allows storage of extracted loot from matches; said inventory can be expanded by completing Faction missions, allowing for more guaranteed loadout weapon slots or the opportunity to unlock base weapons and cosmetic rewards, usable in both Warzone 2.0 and Modern Warfare II. Press Any Button hosts Nicky (a new gamer) and Eric (a lifetime gamer) are a married couple who both love video games. For every video game they will discuss its past (history of the game, developers story, and fun facts), present (game play, game review and strategy), and future (will there be a sequel?? A movie?)  BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE… Every game also comes with a challenge presented by the host that chose the game. If the challenge is not completed then whoever failed has to do a video game rap! So if you want to learn more about video games, hear some nerdy video game raps, or just have a good time this is the podcast for you. We try to cover all types of video games including: Retro and New video games Playstation, Nintendo, Xbox, Sega, and PC games Any and all genres including RPG, Simulation, Beat em up, platforming, mystery, first person shooter, sandbox, puzzle, action adventure, etc. Follow us on  Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/pressanybutton_podcast/ Credits: Nicky Smith Eric Luedtke Special guest: Seth Eltz Music by Eric Luedtke and Mark Spurlock References: https://callofduty.fandom.com/wiki/DMZ https://www.charlieintel.com/call-of-duty-2023/cod-2023-reportedly-titled-modern-warfare-3-251734/

For the last two episodes of the year I thought it would be fun to revisit the top two interviews of 2022! And they are not the top two because I said so, but rather because they were the two most downloaded episodes — you, the audience, have spoken! Genuinely, my conversation with Carrie Bennett was easily one of my favorites, so it is always nice when that resonates with the listeners as well. Enioy learning (or reviewing) health from a quantum perspective..."Electrons! Electrons! Come get your electrons!" I love when I path crosses with someone that likes to nerd out on mitochondrial health, but especially from the quantum point of view! On this week's episode of The Red Light Report, I was lucky enough to sit down with the brilliant Carrie Bennett, who knows her quantum health inside and out. Not only that, but Carrie is able to take these complex topics and simplify them so anyone and everyone can understand. As you can see from the episode description below, we cover a smorgasbord of quantum health topics, especially how health is impacted by light, water and magnetism.Even though it can be intimidating, it behooves everyone to take a dive deep into health from a quantum perspective. This is truly where the root causes of disease are buried -- deep down at the subatomic level. But as Carrie acknowledges, even though the topics can get a little complex, the solutions are extremely straightforward. And who doesn't like simple, actionable strategies for optimizing wellness and bolstering one's healthspan?   As a college athlete, supposedly at the pinnacle of health, Carrie began suffering chronic joint issues and insomnia.  After her first child was born she developed debilitating stomach pain, adrenal fatigue, and brain fog.   Armed with a BS in Biology, an MS in Nutrition, certifications as a personal trainer, massage therapist, breathing coach, and faculty member of the Quantum Biology Collective, Carrie's mission is to teach her clients how to create a healing environment.   By applying quantum health strategies involving morning sunlight, circadian rhythm, grounding, mitochondrial support, cold therapy, sleep and intermittent fasting clients feel powerful healing and lasting benefits.   This episode is wall-to-wall full of incredibly profound health information. It may be an episode you want to listen to multiple times to fully grasp the knowledge that Carrie shares with us. In fact, I highly recommend you do, as the implications of applying these quantum health strategies are far-reaching. Carrie is sure to give you an entirely new perspective on what it means to be healthy. Enjoy and learn lots! - Dr. Mike Belkowski and Carrie Bennett discuss the following:  How she initially got into the quantum field Dr. Jack Kruse and how Carrie has been influenced by him Inflammation from a quantum perspective Chronic inflammation from daily life and how we get it Getting free electrons from nature How we are destroying our mitochondria Health, wellness & longevity via nutrition The Keto diet and how it helps your body produce deuterium-depleted water Mitochondrial dysfunction and why it's something to consider in your health regiment  Optimizing your electron transport chain Melatonin production and how we are deficient Cold therapy and its benefits for protein production Supplementing melatonin Chasing the sun based on seasons and where you live Thriving in cold environments with infrared light How all disease is preceded by a loss of “EZ water” ATP production in the mitochondria EZ water and what influences it  The power of vibrations and its impact on our EZ and biological water Your sound environment and how it impacts your health Health implications of the metaverse and VR headsets Blue-light-blocking glasses Optimizing your light environment Morning sunlight and the impact of sunset Circadian rhythm and its impact on the mitochondria Sun gazing UV light and its powers and healing benefits Water filters and which ones are best Red light therapy and her experiences with it - Watch this Episode on YouTube: https://youtu.be/xZqQxZjWNnE - Instagram: @carriebwellness   YouTube: carriebwellness   Spotify: 2% Better Health Podcast   Website: www.carriebwellness.com   Online courses:  https://carrieandcorey.podia.com/the-quantum-self-healing-masterclass  - To learn more about red light therapy and shop for the highest-quality red light therapy products, visit www.biolight.shop - Stay up-to-date on social media: Instagram YouTube

While there's been a lot of discussion on how to help the people - and animals - affected by the war in Ukraine, we wanted to find out what was happening with the dogs left behind after the 1986 Chernobyl nuclear accident. This week we're honored to bring you once again the incomparable Dr. Jennifer Betz, a veterinarian who has been helping and researching the Chernobyl dogs for many years. We originally spoke with Dr. Betz in 2018, and wanted to learn how the war was impacting these fascinating animals in the Red Forest and Exclusion Zone around Chernobyl. Hosts Dr. Ernie Ward and Beckie Mossor, RVT learn what impacts the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and specifically the Chernobyl region, has had on the Chernobyl nuclear plant workers and the caregivers of the “Chernobyl Dogs.” Viewfinders, we think you'll be inspired by the incredible acts of courage and care of the many volunteers daring to help these dogs and other animals caught in a radioactive war zone. Viewfinders, if you can help, check out some of the resources Dr. Betz recommends below. Thanks for listening and stay safe. We'll talk to you next Wednesday! "Electrons! After the catastrophic disaster at the Chernobyl  Nuclear Power Station in Ukraine in 1986, around 50,000 people were evacuated from the nearby city of Pripyat. The residents were told to take just the clothes they were wearing along with their passports, and reassured they would be allowed to return soon after. However as radiation levels were so high, the decision was made to create a 30km 'exclusion zone' around the Chernobyl power station and for the past 35 years the city of Pripyat has become a ghost town, frozen in time in Soviet 1986, and now giving way to nature. Philip Grossman is a scientist, engineer and filmmaker, who has visited the city of Pripyat and the Chernobyl exclusion zone 14 times. He explored the abandoned buildings which are still highly radioactive in parts still today. Colm Flynn talks to Philip Grossman about his experiences exploring the exclusion zone, as well some of the misconceptions around the Chernobyl Nuclear Disaster. They also talk about the overall safety of nuclear energy today.

The Chernobyl disaster / nuclear accident, occurred on April 26th, 1986, at the No. 4 reactor in the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, near the city of Pripyat in the north of Ukraine. The initial emergency response, together with later decontamination of the environment, ultimately involved more than 500,000 personnel and cost an estimated US$68 billion, adjusted for inflation. The current Chernobyl Exclusion Zone covers an area of approximately 2,600 km2 (1,000 sq mi) in Ukraine, immediately surrounding the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, where radioactive contamination is highest and public access and inhabitation are restricted. The Exclusion Zone's purpose is to restrict access to hazardous areas, reduce the further spread of radiological contamination, and conduct radiological and ecological monitoring activities. Today, the Exclusion Zone is still one of the most radioactively contaminated areas in the world and draws significant scientific interest for the high levels of radiation exposure in the environment, as well as increasing interest from tourists. Despite the extremely high radioactivity of the region, the zone has become a thriving sanctuary with natural flora and fauna with some of the highest biodiversity and thickest forests in all of Ukraine. On this episode of our show, we are joined by Mykola Tolmachov, of the Chernobyl-51 Industrial Cluster, discussing their novel public-private partnership for both ecosystem restoration and the production of both energy and chemical byproducts, in the exclusion zone. English translation during the episode is performed by Ms. Victoria Laskina-Ustimenko.

As the founder of Strix Instruments, Vlad was recording samples in the Exclusion Zone for an audio project when he discovered one of Pripyat's many pianos. He says the sound from hitting the keys made him realize they would never be heard again. Over the 100 visits to Pripyat, he and his team recorded 20 different pianos in various conditions. Many were missing their lower strings, which had been stolen for the metal, but they still had functioning sustain pedals. Vlad overlaid the samples he recorded to create a single unique voice.   Dave is gone for 8 days so here is a Sofa King Classic from the archives Quotable moments from radioactive grandmas to Cesium queefs... you wont want to miss this one. On this episode, we discuss the accident at the Chernobyl power plant as only the Sofa King Podcast can. The Chernobyl power plant in Pripyat, Ukraine suffered a ten day nuclear fire starting on April 26, 1986. This was one of only two Level 7 nuclear disasters in the history of nuclear power, and the causes, reaction, and effects are pretty staggering. Though the numbers vary greatly, upwards of 350,000 people were evacuated, 500,000 “volunteers” were called on to help, and somewhere around 75,000 cases of cancer are still with us due to this nuclear meltdown. What caused it? According to most reports, it was human error, arrogance, and design flaws working in perfect concert. We cover the causes and the basics of how a nuclear reactor works in order to fully explore this horrible accident. Most of the blame can be put on one of the foremen (a man so radioactive that he gave his own son Leukemia!), but there is a complex web of control and Soviet era Party politics involved as well. We also look at the Nobel Prize winning book Voices from Chernobyl by Svetlana Alexievich which covers a dozens of interviews of survivors of this meltdown. Then we talk about everything from the chances of the reactor’s protective sarcophagus cracking and making an even worse disaster in the future, hostile radioactive wolves which roam the Exclusion Zone even today, and what the Soviet Union did right and wrong in trying to stop the disaster. Their policy tended to be telling lies to the free world about how good things were and sending hundreds of thousands of volunteers into radioactive danger with no equipment or medicine to help them. However, with little else to do, we wonder if this was the action of an evil communist state or actually true heroism by a nation desperately trying to stop the meltdown from making most of Europe a nuclear grave yard.

Quick note, when you here “Easy water” it is actually “EZ” water which stands for Exclusion Zone water. Here are a few of the incredible topics we cover: 1) Scientists can’t find memory or where memory is stored in the brain. Our bodies are 99% water by molecular count. Dr. Pollack and colleagues have shown strong evidence that water holds memory. Have we been looking for memory in the wrong place all along? 2) Can we transfer information over space and time and create the building blocks of life (DNA) … wait a minute, are we talking about the insights into time travel here? 3) If we are 99% water how come I don’t bleed out water when I’m cut or shot? 4) Are ALL the biology textbooks that teach about the sodium potassium pump and concentration gradient inside the cell wrong?! 5) At least we all know that ATP is the energy molecule in our bodies, right? Wait, that's probably wrong too?! 6) Water in living systems is a structured liquid crystal called EZ or Exclusion Zone water 7) Does water form a battery in our bodies? 8) We all know about ice, water and vapor but what do we know about the other phase, the 4th phase? 9) What happens to the body when different frequencies or wavelengths are sent though it? How does it store and use information and memory? 10) What has happened to those who have researched water in the past and made discoveries that didn't fit the current understanding? 11) Dr. Gilbert Ling, one of the pioneers in water research 12) How do saunas, infrared light and sunlight change the water in our bodies 13) Do EMFs and 5G affect our bodies, the structuring of water in our bodies and can this make us more susceptible to viruses? We go over many fascinating topics including, how water is structured in living systems and how this structuring enables the intriguing powers of water. Does water store memory? How does water enable life? This is one of the most information dense podcasts I have ever done. I am super grateful for the time Dr. Pollack spent with me and I hope you enjoy! ***Sound quality is little tough due to Zoom call but forge through it, its worth it! Dr. Pollack, by molecule, we're close to 99% water in the body but for some reason, whenever I've been injured or my skin has been cut I've never bled water. Actually, I've never seen water leak from anywhere in my body. Can you start by explaining why this would be if we have so much water in our body to begin with?

Whole Guidance Podcast: Nutrition | Fitness | Happiness | Mindset | Ancestral Health | Holistic Wellness

In this podcast I'll be exploring Water and Hydration: I'll explain what water is and what it does in your body I'll talk about how not getting enough water affects your health and the importance of water quality Finally, I'll give some simple tips on how to know if you're dehydrated and how to improve your hydration and overall health CLICK HERE TO LEARN WHAT ARE THE BEST FOODS TO GET YOU LEAN You cannot survive a week without water making H2O one the most important nutrients for your body. Water covers around 70% of planet Earth. Your body is about 30% solid and 70% water. Also, your blood has a similar amount of salinity as ocean water. Isn't it amazing how similar your physical body is to that of the Earth? I mean it's as if you and Mother Nature are intimately connected and ultimately come from the same place. Well I think it's an awesome idea. Anyhoo... Water comes in three well-known forms or phases -- liquid, solid, and gas -- but there is also a fourth phase of water called Exclusion Zone, EZ water, or living water. If you'd like to learn more about EZ water I recommend the book The Fourth Phase Of Water by Gerald Pollack. It's a beast of a book too nerdy for me believe it or not, but was still a very profound read for me personally. Water is a solvent meaning it dissolves other substances creating a solution, a mix of water and whatever is in the water. The best quality drinking water is not naked water meaning it's not just H2O. Health affirming water also has minerals, trace minerals, electrolytes and other stuff inside of it. The measurement of these inorganic and organic substances found within water is called Total Dissolved Solids or TDS. I'll come back to this later. When you look at water in its frozen phase you can see crystals within the ice. In its liquid state water still has these crystal-like structures. So water is a liquid crystal and just as LCD technology makes use of these liquid crystals to store and transmit energy and information in LCD televisions your body uses water in much the same way. Energy, nutrition, hormones, neurotransmitters, and waste products are stored, transmitted and transported around your body and eliminated in your sweat, in your urine, and in your poo all thanks to water. Water! Your blood is mostly water. The lymph found in your lymphatic system your sewage system is mostly water. The cerebral spinal fluid that surrounds your brain and spine is made up of water. Synovial fluid, which provides lubrication for your joints and the discs in your spine, again water. About 80% of your brain is water. Water also provides stability and integrity to the cells in your body giving them proper structure and form as it makes up part of the cytoplasm, which is the thick solution or gel inside each cell. If your body is too acidic due to high sugar consumption and chronic stress for example it will retain water in order to buffer and stabilise your pH levels leading to additional weight gain. Also, for every gram of carbohydrate you eat your body will hold onto 4 grams of water. Meaning if you're eating too many carbo-HYDRATES your body will be heavier on the scale and look softer in the mirror. So unless you like feeling bloated and looking so fluffy dropping a lot of processed and refined sugars from your diet may be action step number one in your 'improve body composition' plan. So without the right amount of hydration all of these different areas of your body will begin to slowly, but surely breakdown and as a plum becomes a prune your body will become a flat wrinkled empty skin-bag of puny muscles and porous bones. It's crucial to keep yourself hydrated with high quality water. According to internationally renowned researcher, author, and advocate of the natural healing power of water Dr F Batmanghelidj in his book Your Body's Many Cries For Water (which I highly recommend) ...
