Keely's back from her Step 1 Medical Licensing Exam and honeymoon chaos, and we're diving straight into one of the most important conversations for female athletes right now: stress.Stress from training. Stress from life. Stress from the world. Stress from big exams and big dreams. It's a perfect transition into the brand new 2025 Female Athlete Triad Coalition consensus update and what those changes means for athletes, coaches, and doctors. We break down:What cortisol actually is (and why it's not always the villain)Energy deficiency vs. REDs vs. the Female Athlete TriadWhy BMI isn't an accurate measure of athlete healthNew hormonal markers that do matterWhy adolescent runners are especially vulnerableAnd why life stress absolutely counts when it comes to health and performanceAnd then Keely and Corrine address the “Lindsey Vonn controversy,” highlighting the clear double standard in how injured athletes are judged. When men compete through injury, it's called grit. When women do, it's labeled reckless or irresponsible. This episode is brought to you by:rabbit: If you're looking to treat yourself after the holidays or upgrade your winter running kit, head to www.runinrabbit.com and use code FEBTRAIL in February for 10% off.ProBio: Use code Trail20 for 20%-off orders (30%-off + free shipping w/ subscriptions) at probionutrition.comFeisty Strong Retreat in Atlanta - April 17-19, 2026: https://feisty.co/events/feisty-strong-retreat-atlanta/@feisty_media@trail.society
Hello & Welcome to Today's Episode about all things Female Athlete with my friend and colleague, Ros Cooke. I had the pleasure of seeing Ros present on this topic at the POGP conference in Edinburgh last October. In today's episode, we discussed pelvic health in sportsthe 6Rs framework for postpartum athletes and its application to broader pelvic health considerations. (Donnelly et al 2022 Reframing return-to-sport postpartum: the 6 Rs framework)we also explored how pelvic floor dysfunction can contribute to groin pain in athletes and emphasized the importance of integrating pelvic health into mainstream sports medicine practice. The conversation also covered ACL injury prevention in female athletes, with Ros highlighting that while hormonal factors may play a role, they are just one aspect among many including biomechanics, training environment, and overall athlete resilience. We both agreed that successful injury prevention programs need to be purposeful, meaningful, and integrated across all aspects of an athlete's training and lifestyle, with pelvic health being an essential component of this holistic approach.I love needing out with clever people at this intersection of hormonal, pelvic & musculoskeletal health - and I think Ros is doing amazing things in this space to improve education, awareness and outcomes - you can find her on instagram @rosralph - you can find my continuing adventures in women's health there too @michellelyons_muliebrityAnd...if you'd like to learn more about menstrual health AND pelvic health for young female athletes - you might enjoy my latest online course, 'The Menstrual Detective' and you'll get the mini course 'Pelvic Health for the Younger Female Athlete' FOR FREE!!! all the details can be found at CelebrateMuliebrity.comUntil next time, Onwards & Upwards! Maximizing Fitness, Fat Loss & Running Through Perimenopause
Often, the reason we feel tired, stuck, or frustrated in our training, fitness, and health as active women and runners has nothing to do with willpower and everything to do with under-fueling relative to our female body's energy and support needs. In this powerful conversation, host Louise Valentine, one of the world's leading exercise physiologists and women's integrative health practitioners specializing in active women and recreational runners, sits down with Dr. Megan Hellner to unpack how active women, especially runners over 35, unknowingly fall into Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport (RED-S) and disordered eating patterns. They explain why always eating “clean” or following strict food rules that eliminate nourishing foods can disrupt hormones, damage health, and limit performance. You will learn how fear of carbs, diet culture, misleading marketing, and social media trends quietly drain our energy and resilience. Dr. Hellner shares why RED-S can affect women of all body sizes, how to recognize early warning signs, and when mental health support matters. Together, they emphasize returning to simple, evidence-based fueling, honoring food preferences to keep a sense of joy and balance in life, and building flexibility around eating. This episode reminds you that food is not the enemy. When you fuel well and in alignment with your female body's needs, it recovers better, performs stronger, and supports long-term vibrant health. This week on Kliq This, Kev and Sean go everywhere. And I mean everywhere. It starts with Bitcoin vs gold, market volatility, paper assets versus physical assets, and how fast trillions can disappear when the market sneezes. From there it turns into conspiracy theories, precious metals, and why trusting anything "on paper" might be the biggest gamble of all. Then Kev recaps a Milwaukee trip where he was treated like royalty… until housekeeping tried to kick him out of a literal tribal chief's suite. From hotel horror stories and privacy paranoia to room service etiquette, airline lounges, bidets, and the unspoken rules of using someone else's bathroom, this episode goes fully off the rails in the best way possible. On the wrestling side, the guys dig deep into modern booking philosophy, Gunther's heat, AJ Styles' future, and why some stars don't need titles to matter. There's real talk about WrestleMania main events, Roman vs Punk, Drew McIntyre's positioning, and how much "real" emotion still exists when two pros get nose to nose. Plus, insight you won't hear anywhere else about money, miles, and why leaving cash on the table is the ultimate sin. And yes… it all leads to a Mount Ashmore debate you didn't know you needed. Kev breaks down his picks for hottest female athletes across sports, explaining not just the looks, but the attitude, swagger, and athletic edge that makes them stand out. It's funny, unfiltered, wildly inappropriate at times, and exactly why Kliq This never sounds like any other wrestling podcast. Unpredictable, uncensored, and somehow still insightful. In this solo episode, I share from the heart about the messy middle ground of pregnancy and postpartum athleticism. After more than 12 years of working with female athletes, I've seen the pendulum swing between two extremes: overly conservative, fear-based recommendations and the “full send, no modifications needed” approach. Neither tells the whole story. I dive into why nuance matters when it comes to training during pregnancy and postpartum, and how athlete psychology, core and pelvic health, and long-term performance goals all need to be part of the conversation. I also reflect on my own experiences with birth trauma, recovery, and what it means to adapt as an athlete across different life seasons. If you're pregnant, postpartum, a coach, or simply curious about supporting female athletes, this episode is a reminder that athleticism doesn't end when motherhood begins. Instead, it evolves — and learning how to adapt is what preserves performance, identity, and longevity in sport and life.
