・母音の曖昧化(曖昧母音)He is at school/heez ut skool/Classify/kla suh fai/・単語同士をつなぐ(リンキング)Take away/tei kuh wei/Take that/tei(k) tha(t)/・Tの変化(音声変化)Get it on/ge di daan/I want to do/uh wah nuh doo/・音が脱落する(リダクション)One of those people is…/wuh nuh thouz/Probably/Praab li/こういった音の変化が起こり、しかも速く発音されると日本人にとってはなかなか簡単に聞き取ることはできません。 「I'm coming right away」というフレーズだと「com, right, way」の部分がストレスとなります。 Where are you?/wer AR yuh/I'm coming right away./um KUH min RAI da WEI/I'll be there in a minute./ul BEE ther na MI nut/母音の曖昧化英語を発音する時は、ストレスで声を張ったら脱力して、声を張ったら脱力しての繰り返しです。 (1) TAH ka TAH ka TAH kaTalk about itI'd like to talk about it.(2) BAH ta BAH ta BAH taI bought itI bought a lot of bottles. Take it out/TEI kih DAU(t)/これをカタカナ発音で発音すると「Take(強) it(強) out(強)」となってしまい抑揚がなくなってしまいます。 「Take it out」と発音する時、it の /t/ が弱い /d/ の音に変化しています。 (1) Get it/GE dih/Get it out of your mind/GE di DAU duv yer MAIND/(2) Wanted/WAH neh/I wanted to do that/uh WAH ne duh DOO thut/音が脱落する(リダクション)さらに英語は音が変化するだけでなく、そもそも脱落してしまう発音もあります。 One of those people/WUH na thouz/** of (1) How's it going?/HAU zi GOU in/** it の /t/, または it そのものが省略されている **(2) I'm going to go grab some food before we get going./uh ma na gou/** going の /g/ が直前の m に吸収されている **(3) Where did you get that?/WER ju GEH/** did you が同化して /ju/ になっている **(4) I want to catch them right away./uh wa na KYAch em/** them の /th/ が脱落している **まとめというわけで今回は日本人にとって英語の聞き取りにくい要素となる、母音の曖昧化、リンキングや音声変化、音の脱落などの例を取り上げました。

Fluent Fiction - Hungarian: The Unexpected Taste of Budapest: A Culinary Adventure Find the full episode transcript, vocabulary words, and more:fluentfiction.org/the-unexpected-taste-of-budapest-a-culinary-adventure Story Transcript:Hu: Az öreg óra a falon tizenegyet ütött Budapest szívében, egy kis étteremben, ahol a hónap magyar ízei díszítették a menüt. A helyiség falait történelmi festmények és régi receptek díszítették, olyan varázslatos hangulatot teremtve, ami visszavitt a múltba. A középső asztalnál egy férfi ült magában, neve Árpád.En: The old clock on the wall struck eleven in the heart of Budapest, in a small restaurant where the flavors of the month adorned the menu. The walls of the room were adorned with historical paintings and old recipes, creating a magical atmosphere that took you back in time. A man named Árpád sat alone at the middle table. En: Árpád was not from Budapest. In fact, he was from Quebec, but he had long dreamed of tasting the famous goulash soup he had heard so much about from friends and family. As he sat there gazing at the menu delicately placed on the table on a red piece of paper, excitement overcame him.Hu: "Hé, az ott van... a gulyásleves!" Elégedetten dörmögte magában, várva a pincérnőt. "Gou-li-ash... Gul-jás... Gul-ash-levest..." Próbálkozott csendben, hogy helyesen mondja ki.En: "Hey, there it is... the goulash soup!" he muttered contentedly to himself, waiting for the waitress. He realized that although he had heard goulash soup mentioned many times, he had never actually pronounced it in Hungarian. "Gou-li-ash... Gul-jás... Gul-ash-levest..." He quietly attempted to pronounce it correctly.Hu: Ahogy a pincérnő odaér az asztalához, Árpád mély lélegzetet vesz, és megpróbálja rendelni. "Szeretnék egy... Gulash-lyova... nem, Gul-láshlova... vagy talán, Gulás-lesvét..." Elszégyenkezve nevet, miközben a pincérnő várakozóan nézi.En: As the waitress approached his table, Árpád took a deep breath and attempted to order. "I would like a... Gulash-lyova... no, Gul-láshlova... or perhaps, Gulás-lesvét..." He laughed shyly while the waitress looked on expectantly. En: The waitress, holding her notepad high above her head, flashed a smile and disappeared into the kitchen. Despite his embarrassment, Árpád sighed in relief, for he was finally able to order the dish he had traveled to Budapest for. However, as he thought about what might be happening in the kitchen, uncertainty came flooding back. En: As he anxiously looked towards the door, the waitress appeared with a plate. "Here is the Gulá...beet-medusa. I hope you will enjoy it!" she said, placing the plate in front of Árpád. En: Árpád was surprised. The dish did not look like what he had expected. On the plate was a dumpling steaming, with no meat, vegetables, or paprika as he had anticipated.Hu: "Kérem, ez nem..." - kezdte. De a pincérnő már elindult. Árpád szomorúan nézte az ételt.En: "Excuse me, this is not..." he began. But the waitress had already started on her way. Árpád sadly looked at the food. En: He decided to taste it with a spoon and was surprised at how delicious the medusa stew was. Although it was not what he had expected in Budapest, he realized that somewhere within the depths of disappointment, there lay a feeling of celebration.Hu: Ahogy azzal harcolt, hogy kiessen a szokatlan étel maradékaival, megérkezett a pincérnő. "Elnézést kérünk, félreértettem a rendelést" - mondta mosolyogva, miközben egy másik tányért tett le Árpád elé, tele igazi gulyáslevessel.En: As he struggled to finish the remnants of the unusual dish, the waitress arrived. "We apologize, there was a misunderstanding with the order," she said with a smile, placing another plate in front of Árpád, filled with authentic goulash soup. En: For a moment, he just sat there, then he laughed at the irony of the situation. He surrendered to the excitement and boredom of Budapest. "Oh, Budapest, what an adventure," he thought to himself as he savored the first long-awaited spoonful of goulash soup. Do you all like kanji? Did you know that the names of countries and cities around the world can also be written in kanji? Recently, I discussed the difficulty of writing the names of countries in kanji with students studying at a university in Japan. For instance, Italy is written as '伊' (I), America as '米' (Bei), Australia as '豪' (Gou), and Spain as '西' (Sei). Why is that? It seems some of these are derived from Chinese pronunciations. We also talked about foreign languages and katakana in relation to Japanese sounds. Japanese language has three types of characters: hiragana, katakana, and kanji, which makes it quite challenging. Truly, great job to everyone studying Japanese!" The script is available here: https://www.makiko-japanese.com/ I will update this episode on YouTube as soon as possible!! Gou Campaign Says 'Anything Possible' After Ko Meeting A spokesman for Terry Gou's presidential campaign office says "anything - including a potential joint ticket - is possible" following a meeting with Taiwan People's Party presidential nominee, Ko Wen-je. Peggy Gou is one of electronic music's biggest celebrities. Her catchy productions, high-intensity DJ sets and personal style have propelled her to the upper echelons of stardom—a journey that's brought an equal number of fans and critics. "There are a lot of assumptions about me," she tells moderator Souhayla Ou-Oumar during a live RA Exchange at last year's Amsterdam Dance Event. Over the course of the 50-minute conversation, which includes a Q&A with the audience, the label owner, producer, DJ and fashion designer spills the beans on her decision-making process, how she deals with haters and maintaining authenticity. Emphasising the power of saying no, the Korea-born artist explains how she executes her creative philosophy by being selective on projects. "I have a great team who follow my vision but basically, I'm a control freak." She says she's never had a manager and does all social media herself because "I don't like it when people tell me what to do." To hear more about how Gou finds inspiration, why South Korea is a place of healing for her and the importance of listening to the body, listen to the conversation in full.
This is the first of two episodes regarding Argentinian dictator Juan Peron. We begin with a short history of the preceding eras of the nation's history - including the Radical Era and the Infamous Decade. We'll then travel along with Peron through the GOU-led military coup in 1943. We will examine in detail the concept of patronage regarding his time as Secretariat of Labor before being expelled from government and the launching of his own Presidential campaign. We also detail the initial meeting of his second wife Evita through charity related to the San Juan earthquake. The material in this podcast serves as an introduction to the International Baccalaureates' Paper two topic 10 - Authoritarian States (20th century).
Season 1 - Episode 3/10 Katrina Leonoudakis is a professional translator and localization specialist. In addition to working full-time at SEGA as a project coordinator, she subtitles anime for Funimation and Sentai Filmworks, as well as translates manga for Seven Seas. She has credits on projects like Persona 5 Royal, the Yakuza series, and anime like Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Gou. Her favorite thing in the world is translation theory-- ask her about equivalence! Katrina shares with us her passion for anime translation by talking about the subtitle translation for the anime Odd Taxi, released in the West by Crunchyroll and translated by Mikka Stifler. "Eccentric and blunt, the walrus Hiroshi Odokawa lives a relatively normal life. He drives a taxi for a living, and there he meets several unique individuals: the jobless Taichi Kabasawa who is dead-set on going viral, the mysterious nurse Miho Shirakawa, the struggling comedic duo "Homo Sapiens," and Dobu, a well-known delinquent. But Odokawa's simple way of life is about to be turned upside-down. The case of a missing girl the police have been tracking leads back to him, and now both the yakuza and a duo of corrupt cops are on his tail. Set in a strangely familiar city filled with unusual individuals, Odd Taxi is a bizarre story about a humble taxi driver and the mystery of a lost high schooler." Hello strawhatninja here, My friend JstnDstrctn and I are both what we like to lovingly call “weebs”. We live in Westen PA, which is a place that doesn't tend to support weeb culture at all. Despite that, we are huge fans of jrpgs, anime, visual novels, and cosplay. We talk about it all the time anyway so figured why not make a podcast about it. In this episode we talk about what we are watching/playing and we also talk about upcoming anime and games we are interested in. We are new to this, so any feedback is appreciated.
