We had the pleasure of interviewing Moon Walker over Zoom video!Brooklyn-based alt-rocker Moon Walker shares his long-awaited, experimental, timely third LP Apocalypticism out everywhere now. Alongside the release, the rocker shares "Singing For No One" out now, a personal glam rock ballad inspired by his musical influences like The Beatles and David Bowie. Plus, the official "Monkey See, Monkey Do" video is out now. In support of the new music, Apocalypticism, the piercing third album out now by Moon Walker, is both his most conceptual and most personal yet. Over eight eclectic tracks, Moon Walker imagines an apocalypse and confronts society's troubling inclination towards a hive mind. Much like his earlier work, Moon Walker is unafraid to confront harsh truths and pull back the curtain on the deeply flawed layers of American society. In addition to the new album out now, Moon Walker has inked a publishing deal with Limited Edition Music Publishing/Warner Chappell Music. In a joint statement, Greg Sowders & Marc Wilson, Co-Presidents of Limited Edition Music Publishing, joyfully state, "Moon Walker not only has an incredible rock sound along with catchy songs, he has something to say. Nothing is more important to us than a message. We welcome Moon Walker to the family and can't wait for the world to hear this record."Earlier this month, the rocker shared the fierce "Monkey See, Monkey Do" builds over a foreboding beat with Moon Walker's signature cutting, spirited vocals that instantly command attention. It was the first track written for the project that ultimately set the tone for what was to come. Making the song encouraged the artist to get creative, as Moon Walker explains, "I was staying at my parents house with limited resources so I had to make do with what I had." The synth heard throughout was made without a synth, and with a guitar instead. Moon Walker adds, "I didn't have a shaker or tambourine, so I used a box of sprinkles." After playing the song live across the country all summer, Moon Walker is thrilled the studio version can be heard everywhere now.The new album by Moon Walker follows his electrifying sophomore LP The Attack Of Mirrors, which arrived in October 2022. The project finds the musician elevate his nostalgic, alternative garage rock sound over ten eclectic tracks. Springer expands on the poignant, timely lyrics and the thrashing garage rock sound that made his first offering such a success, while also introducing multiple new elements into the fold. In 2022, the album garnered 25M+ streams across platforms.Formed at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Harry Springer created Moon Walker initially as a way to pass time and make extra money through selling songs to sound libraries. Now, Springer composes, produces and performs under the moniker after Moon Walker's debut album, Truth to Power, turned the heads of several tastemakers and garnered millions of streams on Spotify.Moon Walker's captivating third album Apocalypticism is out everywhere now. The project boldly explores deep rooted flaws engrained in American society from toxic work culture to hive mind and pervasive propaganda. We want to hear from you! We talk in depth about this project, the logistics of it, the challenges and sensitivities around it, the importance of continuing to talk about the Holocaust and how the process of making this work changed Marc as a person. We also touch on Marc's other work, The Last Stand, which documents the physical remnants of Second World War defence structures and their place in the landscapes that surround them. The guys are back to discuss the case of Marc Wilson, a Georgia man that was convicted of Manslaughter after an altercation between himself and the drivers of a pickup truck that resulted in the death of a `17 year old girl who was a passenger in the truck driven by an 18 year old male. Mr. Wilson has claimed in his defense that he was using Georgia's "Stand Your Ground" laws to defend himself from racial slurs and alleged attempts to run him off of the road. Several details in this case do not hold up, including that the teen drivers of the pickup were under the influence of alcohol but were never charged, as well as the fact that Mr. Wilson's girlfriend testified that she wasn't sure if racial slurs were used and could not definitively say that they were at risk of being "run off the road". The guys examine the details as reported by several outlets and try and make sense of what actually happened. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/betweenthelinesshow/message

2.7.2022 #RolandMartinUnfiltered: Amir Locke Murder Connection to other cases, GA Judge booted off case, Missouri's Ahmaud Arbery Act Two of the Minneapolis SWAT members were the same ones involved in the Jaleel Stallings case and the judge who signed that no-knock warrant....The judge who presided over the Derek Chauvin case. Georgia Fort will give us the latest after a weekend of protests. The defense team for a black man in Georgia claiming self-defense for killing a white teen said they got a break. The judge they say had some racial biases was kicked off the case. We'll have someone from JustGeorgia here with the latest in the Marc Wilson case. Their plea deal fell through, so today, the federal hate crime trial for the three men convicted of killing Ahmaud Arbery began with jury selection. Ahmaud Arbery's murder sparked a Missouri state Senator to pen the Ahmaud Arbery Act to prevent citizens from killing people they think are committing a crime. That Senator will join us tonight to tell us about this new legislation. Plus, the Bridgeport Connecticut Police department has a history of racist practices.   #RolandMartinUnfiltered partner: Nissan | Check out the ALL NEW 2022 Nissan Frontier! NSBWEP stands for the National Society of Black Wedding and Event Professionals and was created in the summer of 2019. Since the inception of the association, they now have over 135+ Black-owned businesses that represent the industry from the East Coast to the West Coast to include the Caribbean. Membership is based on each business owner passing mandatory credentials and having an exemplary business performance. By the end of 2022, the association is on track to include 300+ businesses! NSBWEP serves as a foundation for its members to build hope, opportunity, community, and more while creating change makers to thrive in this dynamic environment! In this episode of the podcast, Andy chats with Tara Melvin (founder and Creative Director of Perfect Planning Events and founder and President of NSBWEP), Brian Green (Chief Event Architect and creative visionary of By Brian Green LLC and Chairman of the Board of NSBWEP), and Marc Wilson (founder and creative director of The Style Marc and Vice President and founding member of NSBWEP). Tara – who has been in the wedding and events planning industry for nearly two decades - reveals that the NSBWEP arose out of the racial turmoil that we saw last year in 2020 such as the renewed wave of the Black Lives Matter movement and the death of George Floyd. She talks about the fact that the percentage of Black wedding event professionals being represented tends to be less than 1%, which made her want to create a space for more representation. Marc, who has been in the business for twenty-five years, personally felt that lack of representation in the industry which has made community so important to him in this organization. Tara, Brian, and Marc also talk about the educational programs that they have put in place and share the organization's goals in the future, such as how they want to expand their influence from twenty-three states to forty states and to Canada and even Europe. Andy is so excited about what NSBWEP is doing and respects and admires their mission so much. Be sure to subscribe to the podcast so that you never miss an episode, and if you can think of at least three good friends who would benefit from listening to the podcast, share it with them! Andy would also appreciate a positive review wherever you listen to the podcast! Have you heard about the brand new show on The Wedding Biz Network, Stop and Smell the Roses with Preston Bailey? Marc Wilson is a documentary photographer from Bath, England. Marc's work has been published in National Geographic, The British Journal of Photography, The Times, the Telegraph, Wired and he's exhibited his work round the UK and Europe.  Marc's latest project, A Wounded Landscape, bears witness to the Holocaust through the stories of 22 Holocaust survivors. It was shot over 6 years at 160 locations through out Europe and features over 350 photographs. It's fascinating conversation with a thoughtful, sensitive and articulate photographer and I feel very privileged to share it with you. While I've never really done one myself — not intentionally anyway — I am fascinated by long-term creative projects. I find the whole idea of intentionally and purposefully immersing yourself in something you know is going to take years to realize both inspiring and a little terrifying. But I guess if you find the right project, the challenges, obstacles and accidents both happy and unhappy make the journey of bringing whatever it is to life that much more rewarding.Marc Wilson is a photographer in the UK who has completed two such projects back to back. From 2010 to 2014, he produced a body of work called The Last Stand which, in his words “aims to reflect the histories and stories military conflict and the memories held in the landscape itself.” In 2015, after releasing the body of work as a book, he began work on his next project, A Wounded Landscape – bearing witness to the Holocaust, which is based around 22 Holocaust survivor stories. The six-year project, culminating in a 750-page book, was made at more than 160 locations and is told through more than 350 photographs, as well as transcripts of conversations, research and sound. WARNING: DISTRESSING CONTENTThe number of people losing their lives to suicide has seen a marked decrease, with the latest statistics showing the rate to be the lowest in three years. The annual provisional suicide statistics, released this morning, show that in the year to June 30, 2020, there was a drop from 13.93 per 100,000 people to 13.01.That is a decrease of 31 deaths. In comparison, last year's rate was the highest it had been since records began 13 years ago.Chief Coroner Judge Deborah Marshall said although it was encouraging to see the suspected suicide rate decrease in the past year, it was important to remember that there were still more than 650 families around New Zealand grieving for someone who had died in tragic circumstances during that time."My sincere condolences to the families and friends of those who died by suspected suicide in the past year," she said. With the release of the provisional results, Judge Marshall also called out those who had offered what she dubbed "unhelpful" commentary in relation to the effect the Covid-19 pandemic was having on people and the connection to suicides."Throughout this year, there has been unhelpful and irresponsible public commentary on the effect Covid-19 would have on the suicide rate."During the first lockdown period, I said it was unhelpful to release figures for such a short time frame, as it is nearly impossible to draw sound conclusion," she said.Lower stats for young people, higher for old"Nor do I believe such public discourse is helpful to people in distress."Within the newly released figures, results showed the rate of suspected suicides among Māori and Pasifika had both dropped - from 21.78 per 100,000 people to 20.24 and from 8.94 to 7.07 respectively. The rate for European Kiwis also went down from 13.02 to 12.08. The rate for Asians, however, went up by 20 deaths - from 5.09 to 7.91.Twelve more people aged between 80 and 84 years old died in the last year - up from six deaths last year. While the rates for deaths by suicide among young people decreased - particularly in those aged between 15 and 19 years old (73 to 59 teenagers) and those aged 20 to 24 years old (91 to 60 deaths).'There is always hope' - survivorJazz Thornton (right) with the police officer, constable Meikia Campbell, who saved her life when she was 19. Photo / SuppliedThis year's lower rates shows there is always hope, mental health advocate Jazz Thornton said."This is greatly encouraging news and may suggest things are changing for the better."Thornton is the co-founder of mental health advocacy charity Voices of Hope. She is also a survivor - having attempted suicide a number of times."If we continue to encourage safe and responsible discussion about mental health, then people feel much more comfortable being open about issues the may be facing and reaching out for support," she said.Director of the Suicide Prevention Office, Carla na Nagara, said the statistics should also end the "harmful speculation" about suicide numbers."Inaccurate, speculative and distressing information about the relationship between suicide risk and the Covid-19 response is unhelpful and has the potential to cause significant harm."While the Covid-19 response may have significant, long-term effects on people's lives, an increase in suicides is not inevitable," na Nagara said."There have been speculative comments on a wide range of platforms on media and social media of suicide numbers over recent months."This is distressing for families and communities, can be triggering for vulnerable people and further stretches the people who are working hard to provide support."We need to make sure that we are dealing with only the facts and remember that the Chief Coroner is the sole authority on real-time data for suspected suicides," she said."While it is encouraging to see that the number of suspected suicides over the course of the year is lower than the past two years, there is no con...

Born in London, 1968, Marc Wilson lives in Bath, England and his photography documents the memories and histories that are set in the landscapes that surround us. His current work in progress, A Wounded Landscape, begun in 2015, documents the geography of the Holocaust, based around a small number of stories, with locations in over 20 different countries throughout Europe and the former Soviet Republics. His previous work, The Last Stand, was researched and photographed over a four year period, and looks at some of the remaining Second World War military coastal defences around the coastlines of Northern Europe, from Norway to the Franco-Spanish border and The Northern Isles of the UK. The work was an award winner at The Terry O'Neill Awards in 2013 and was published as a book in late 2014. Marc's work has been exhibited at The Royal Armouries Museum, Focalpoint Gallery and The Anise Gallery, London and included in group shows at The Photographers Gallery and the Association of Photographers Gallery, London, the Athens PhotoFestival, 2015 and the Tel Aviv Museum of Art, 2018. It was a great pleasure to catch up recently with Marc Wilson (www.marcwilson.co.uk) who is best described as a documentary landscape photographer and to delve into some of his project work on Episode 17 of the show... Marc deals with long term projects anchored in the history of the chosen landscapes. Between 2011-2015 'The Last Stand' project focused on old military posts and stations around the coasts of Northern Europe. There was a strong visual aesthetic that ran through the work and in the show we discuss some of his shooting methods and preferences to create that consistency and visual narrative. We also spent some time in the show chatting about his current work based on the locations, stories and impact of the holocaust called 'A wounded landscape'. This project has raised the bar even further with more locations, more exploration of the back stories and obviously a hugely sensitive subject matter. We do hope you enjoy the show. To see more of Marc Wilson's work please check out his website. As usual a big thanks to Wex Photographic for supporting the show, we're very grateful for their support and encourage you all to check out their full range of camera, video and lighting equipment on their website.
