Ten minutes of audio disappears, so we do what any responsible garage crew would do: laugh, splice it together, and immediately start making a list of who we owe giveaway prizes to. We've got an August 15 event coming up at Mayobi, and before we roll into the next stretch of the year, we're getting caught up the only way we know how by drawing monthly winners live and calling ourselves out for being bad at shipping stuff on time. If you've been waiting on gear, this one's worth your time. From there, the conversation swings into the stuff that keeps off-road life running behind the scenes: supporters who help us stay motivated, what our Buzzsprout stats say about where we rank, and the kind of hauling stories that make you ask, “Should that vehicle really have a receiver hitch?” Yes, we're talking about a Prius doing truck things, plus the ongoing quest to haul smarter without turning everything into a white-knuckle drive. The main tech rabbit hole is towing and trailer setup. We break down a new 34-foot PJ gooseneck with air ride suspension, an air ride hitch, and electric over hydraulic disc brakes, then get into brake controller tuning, loading angles, and why ramps can turn a calm day into a fast problem. We also recap Milwaukee Madness, share what Milwaukee reps hinted is coming next (including a battery-powered fridge/freezer), and flag a “you won” scam message so you don't get caught clicking the wrong link.If you like real shop talk, off-road problem solving, and gear talk with zero polish, hit subscribe, share this with a friend, and leave a review. July 13, 2026 - Vacation Bible School Day 2 - Monday PM Bible Class In this episode you'll join a live classroom-style session that explores predictive prophecy as evidence for the Bible's divine origin. Dale opens by describing how they were invited to teach and introduces the evening's themes—archaeology, scientific foreknowledge, cohesion and unity of Scripture, and above all predictive prophecy. The session is interactive: attendees ask questions, volunteers participate in demonstrations, and the presenter references specific biblical passages throughout. Topics covered include Messianic prophecies (Isaiah 53, Psalm 22, Micah 5:2, Zechariah 9:9, Psalm 16:10, Psalm 110, Genesis 49:10 and the protoevangelium in Genesis 3:15), national and historical prophecies (Daniel's four empires in Daniel 2 and 7, Ezekiel 26 on Tyre, Jeremiah 50–51 on Babylon), and the surprising mention of Cyrus by name in Isaiah. The presenter highlights how these prophecies span centuries, languages and cultures, yet converge into a cohesive narrative. The episode features concrete examples and historical verifications: Ezekiel's prediction of Tyre becoming a bare rock used by fishermen, Jeremiah's description of Babylon's fall and the Euphrates being diverted, Daniel's detailed visions of successive empires, and Isaiah's naming of Cyrus long before his rise. The class also discusses how critics have tried to re-date books like Daniel, and how secular records (like cuneiform inscriptions and the Cyrus Cylinder) corroborate key events. To illustrate how difficult it would be to fabricate such prophecies, the presenter conducts a live experiment with two volunteers inventing a hoax prophet named “Curtis,” comparing predictions and fulfillments with often comical mismatches (treadmills vs. sub sandwiches, Milwaukee vs. Canada). A second demonstration—the blue‑ringed octopus cup—drives home points about probability and plausibility. Dale cites statistical arguments (Peter Stoner's calculations) about the improbability of one person accidentally fulfilling multiple Messianic prophecies. Guests and participants include audience volunteers and an engaged crowd asking questions and sharing reactions. The tone is apologetic and inquisitive: the presenter encourages listeners to verify passages, consider historical evidence, and use select, verifiable prophecies in conversations about the reliability of Scripture. Key takeaways: prophecy provides a powerful, testable line of evidence for the Bible's claims; certain prophecies are strikingly specific and historically corroborated; the unity and predictive reach of Scripture (from Genesis through the prophets and Daniel) is presented as faith‑building; and the episode equips listeners with memorable examples and conversational points for discussing prophecy with skeptics.   Duration 40:59

On Tuesday, Abdul El-Sayed and Rep. Haley Stevens, D-Mich., will face off in the Michigan Democratic Senate primary. The race is the next biggest test of whether progressives can win statewide, particularly in purple territory. The Michigan race is one of the most expensive primaries of the cycle. Outside groups have spent upward of $50 million in support of Stevens or against El-Sayed. Most of that money is coming from the American Israel Public Affairs Committee and its affiliated groups — close to $30 million, which their largest investment ever in a single race, according to The AP.“It's just anti-democratic on its own terms,” El-Sayed, the former public health official, tells The Intercept Briefing. “I always ask people, “OK, you're covering this as a very close race, but would it be close if they didn't have $60 million to spend? Would it even be a close race at all?'”This week on The Intercept Briefing podcast, host Akela Lacy asks, can progressives win outside of blue cities? El-Sayed argues, if you focus on the issues people care about and act on them, you can: "Look, you have an option that's not bought off by all the same corporations. And that option is desperately clear about wanting you to have healthcare, and also wanting your kid to have a good school, and also making sure that there's not a data center that gets planted in your backyard to automate your job away.”Lacy explores that question further with Ryan Clancy, a Wisconsin state representative and founding member of the state legislature's current Socialist Caucus, and Thom Hartmann, a progressive political commentator. Clancy says voters he speaks to in Milwaukee “want a fighter. People want people in office who are going to fight for the middle class, fight for actual transformative change.” He adds, “The idea that in order to win in a purple district that is roughly split between Democrats and Republicans, that you need when you're a Democrat, to look as much like a Republican as possible is just not helpful.” Polling suggests that El-Sayed has a commanding lead over Stevens in the Democratic primary. But polls for the November general election narrow sharply when El-Sayed is up against Trump-backed Republican candidate Mike Rogers; one shows Rogers beating him by 10 percentage points, which the Stevens's campaign has leaned into.“We've been in this change moment. We're sick and tired of neoliberalism. We're sick and tired of Reaganism. We're sick and tired of the status quo. We're sick and tired of a dying middle class. We have been living in this moment, in my opinion, since 2000, and I think in a big way since 2008. Obama promised hope and change, and really just brought us a bunch of health insurance companies,” says Hartmann. “I'm not sure if we're there yet to the point where a good message like El-Sayed's message can overcome millions of dollars from Israel and from big corporations. That's going to be the big challenge.”The Intercept invited Stevens on the program for an interview but as of publishing have not heard back yet.Full transcript: https://interc.pt/4fRLS8aKeep our investigations free and fearless at theintercept.com/join. Internet star Jimothy, the short-spined raccoon from Seattle’s Ballard neighborhood, is still taking over the news cycle, but Timmy’s official advice to nature lovers is simple: stop looking at wildlife. That includes Jackie and Shadow the bald eagles and the legendary bipedal bear Pedals from New Jersey, because it all ends crazy. Another heat advisory is out, with the San Fernando Valley headed for 108 this weekend and Palm Springs climbing toward a brutal 120. Timmy’s solution? Head to Del Mar, where the surf meets the turf. Former Cowboys QB and NFL broadcaster Tony Romo got popped for DUI in Milwaukee — open container, refused the breathalyzer, and was laughing and smiling the whole time. The conversation moves through contemporary painting, Midwestern DIY culture, artist-run spaces, collecting habits in the Midwest, labor history, and the strange but fertile ground between formal abstraction and dumpster diving. Tanner speaks about his own assemblage-based painting practice, his evolution from hard-edge abstraction into sculptural wall works built from salvaged materials, and his desire to reconnect with painting's possibilities through color, surface, and material experimentation. Full Text of Readings Thursday of the Seventeenth Week in Ordinary Time Lectionary: 404 The Saint of the day is Blessed Solanus Casey Blessed Solanus Casey's Story Barney Casey became one of Detroit's best-known priests even though he was not allowed to preach formally or to hear confessions! Barney came from a large family in Oak Grove, Wisconsin. At the age of 21, and after he had worked as a logger, a hospital orderly, a streetcar operator, and a prison guard, he entered St. Francis Seminary in Milwaukee—where he found the studies difficult. He left there, and in 1896, joined the Capuchins in Detroit, taking the name Solanus. His studies for the priesthood were again arduous. On July 24, 1904, Solanus Casey was ordained, but because his knowledge of theology was judged to be weak, he was not given permission to hear confessions or to preach. A Franciscan Capuchin who knew him well said this annoying restriction “brought forth in him a greatness and a holiness that might never have been realized in any other way.” During his 14 years as porter and sacristan in Yonkers, New York, the people there recognized Solanus as a fine speaker. James Derum, his biographer writes, “For, though he was forbidden to deliver doctrinal sermons, he could give inspirational talks, or feverinos, as the Capuchins termed them.” His spiritual fire deeply impressed his listeners. Father Solanus Casey served at parishes in Manhattan and Harlem before returning to Detroit, where he was porter and sacristan for 20 years at St. Bonaventure Monastery. Every Wednesday afternoon he conducted well-attended services for the sick. A co-worker estimates that on the average day 150 to 200 people came to see Father Solanus in the front office. Most of them came to receive his blessing; 40 to 50 came for consultation. Many people considered him instrumental in cures and other blessings they received. Father Solanus' sense of God's providence inspired many of his visitors. “Blessed be God in all his designs” was one of his favorite expressions. The many friends of Father Solanus Casey helped the Capuchins begin a soup kitchen during the Depression. Capuchins are still feeding the hungry there today. In failing health, Solanus Casey was transferred to the Capuchin novitiate in Huntington, Indiana, in 1946,  where he lived for ten years until needing to be hospitalized in Detroit. Father Solanus died on July 31, 1957. An estimated 20,000 people passed by his coffin before his burial in St. Bonaventure Church in Detroit. At the funeral Mass, the provincial Father Gerald said: “His was a life of service and love for people like me and you. When he was not himself sick, he nevertheless suffered with and for you that were sick. When he was not physically hungry, he hungered with people like you. He had a divine love for people. He loved people for what he could do for them—and for God, through them.” In 1960, a Father Solanus Guild was formed in Detroit to aid Capuchin seminarians. By 1967, the guild had 5,000 members—many of them grateful recipients of his practical advice and his comforting assurance that God would not abandon them in their trials. Solanus Casey was declared Venerable in 1995, and beatified on November 18, 2017. Reflection His biographer James Patrick Derum writes that eventually Father Solanus was weary from bearing the burdens of the people who visited him. “Long since, he had come to know the Christ-taught truth that pure love of God and one's fellowmen as children of God are in the final event all that matter. Living this truth ardently and continuously had made him, spiritually, a free man—free from slavery to passions, from self-seeking, from self-indulgence, from self-pity—free to serve wholly both God and man” (The Porter of St. Bonaventure's, page 199).Saint of the Day, Copyright Franciscan Media

We heard from a few Spotify users who didn't receive the correct audio for this episode, so we uploaded and republished it in an effort to correct the issues. Apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused.#####Boiling down a person's nearly 91 years on the planet into 94 minutes is a tremendous feat. But what about when that person is someone your entire audience has, in a matter of speaking, invited into their homes for decades? Someone they already feel like they know and, more importantly, love?Directors Steve Farr and Michael Vollmann didn't just take on that impossible task; they sought it out. What eventually became the Ueck documentary started back in 2023 at the pair's production company, September Club, as they searched for an idea that was Milwaukee down to its core — something they could film here and would give back to the community in some way. The first name that came up? Bob Uecker.Farr, who joined us for this episode of Cinebuds, had worked with the Baseball Hall-of-Famer a few years prior and reached out to see if the idea could turn into something more. That led to an epic lunch — nearly five hours long, according to Farr — where Uecker regaled the directors with stories, clearly signaling that he was on board with the project.Filming began a few months later and continued for a couple years, culminating with the premiere of Ueck at the Milwaukee Film Festival this past April and the theatrical release that starts this Friday at select Marcus locations before hitting more theaters in early August (more details are available on the documentary's website). In this episode, Farr shares even more behind-the-scenes details about how the film went from brainstorm to big screens, what it was like working with a legend in the last years of his life and the unexpected things waiting for audiences — even the biggest fans of Uecker — when they catch Ueck in theaters.#####Cinebuds is sponsored by Joe Wilde Garage Doors.

https://youtu.be/LoY58ZisO18 Mike McAbee sat down with Full Spectrum Cycling’s Sven Hammer on the Veggas Pub patio in Riverwest, Milwaukee, just as the neighborhood geared up for the 2024 Riverwest 24. It was a one-year reunion, Mike had been on the show in 2025, and since then he underwent triple bypass surgery and took a two-month hiatus from the road. In this interview, Makabe talks about what it took to get back to playing out, why the experience was less painful than some breakups he has endured, and how he has managed 25 years as a working musician. He still plays mostly dive bars in Midwest towns of fewer than a thousand people, drives a semi in the fall for extra income, and lets the crowd request whatever they want from a set list hundreds of songs deep. The conversation also covers McAbee’s life in Frankville, Iowa, an unincorporated town where he lives in a restored old bank building, runs the street-light and water committees, and throws the annual Keep Frankville Wet and Lit fundraiser. In the summer, he and his daughter Lula live on a 1971 Gibson houseboat on the Mississippi. We touch on RAGBRAI, the growing scale of Riverwest 24’s bonus checkpoints, indoor training with a blood pressure cuff, and the physics of Midwest roundabouts. Recorded live as 2,000 cyclists were getting ready to roll.

What happens when you suspect your spouse isn't telling the truth about the finances? Susan Guthrie says it's more common than you think, and it's exactly what forensic accountant Tracy Coenen does for a living. Tracy Coenen has spent more than 25 years uncovering hidden money in corporate fraud cases and in divorces too. She calls it "divorce financial planning," when someone sees a split coming and starts thinking about what they can do with the money so they don't have to divide it or pay support on it. She also calls out "divorce amnesia," the sudden inability to remember an inheritance or a bank account on a financial disclosure form. Tracy returns to Divorce and Beyond to walk through the five most common ways people hide money when a marriage ends. As a divorce attorney for more than three decades, Susan has seen plenty of these sneaky moves herself, and she knows a forensic accountant can almost always find them. Together, she and Tracy go through the practical, do it yourself steps to spot the signs using bank statements, tax documents, and a little pattern recognition, without hiring a small army of experts. If the numbers in your divorce have ever felt off, this one is for you. What You'll Learn What to look for when a spouse is only depositing part of their paycheck into the joint account Why a sudden increase in cash withdrawals, or a spouse suddenly hitting the ATM, is worth a closer look How gift cards and cash back at checkout can become a quiet way to siphon money out of the marital estate How to spot a secret credit card, especially when it's hiding at the very same bank as your main account Why a paycheck, bonus, or commission that vanishes right as a divorce begins may not be a coincidence How pulling together the right bank statements and tax documents lets you spot these patterns yourself, without paying a forensic accountant Episode 4 of 8 in the Divorce & Beyond Summer Essentials Series. With a dream of one day being a prison warden, Tracy went to Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI to get a criminology degree. A class on financial crime investigations reminded her how much she loved Encyclopedia Brown books as a kid. She continued her criminology degree, but added accounting and economics courses so she could sit for the CPA exam… and here Tracy is, finding money in cases of corporate fraud, high net worth divorce, and other financial shenanigans. When police finally uncovered the truth inside Dahmer's apartment, they found evidence of unimaginable brutality that shocked the nation. By the time he was arrested, 17 victims had been murdered.
