Why do bad things happen? Recording artist, former America's Got Talent finalist, and author of More Than My Scars Kechi Okwuchi asked herself this question after a plane crash changed her life. In this episode of VOICES' Where Ya From? podcast, Kechi joins host Rasool Berry to discuss how to rely on God's unchanging love when faced with unspeakable tragedy. Guest Bio: Kechi Okwuchi is a Nigerian American recording artist, motivational speaker, author of More Than My Scars, and a former finalist on America's Got Talent in 2017. One of two survivors in the Sosoliso Airlines Flight 1145 crash on December 10, 2005, she became a national patient ambassador for Shriners Children's Texas in Galveston in 2017. She has since been active in events organized by WE Movement—a global youth empowerment organization—speaking and singing to thousands of students at WE Day events all over the country. As a bullying prevention advocate, she has teamed up with the organization Be Strong Global, as well as Instagram and Teen Vogue, to speak out against bullying. She hopes to use her story and her musical talents to ignite hope. Okwuchi lives in Pearland, Texas. Notes & Quotes: “Being a Christian does not exempt you from bad things happening to you. Bad things happen in life to good and bad people.” “[God] is a place of endless replenishment and strength, especially when things are really bad.” “Seeing myself through [God's] eyes is probably the best way to hold on to my confidence. You're never going to be able to come to me to make me feel bad based on my appearance, because God doesn't care about that.” Links Mentioned: Check out Kechi's new book, More Than My Scars. For all you entrepreneurs, I'm sure you want to grow your business if it means being better able to help people. This is particularly true for coaches. That's why I'm talking to someone today about how to improve your coaching skills in order to help your business grow. About Amber Brueseke Amber Brueseke is a wife, mom of four (ages 8-15), and a former RN who founded Biceps After Babies because she believes that being a mom doesn't have to mean your fittest days are behind you. What started as a little Instagram account to share her fitness journey online has become a business focused on empowering women to achieve. Her signature coaching program MACROS 101 has helped over 5,000 women use the tool of macro counting to build a nutrition plan that's both effective and enjoyable. Amber also created a Transformational Fitness Coach certification that teaches other health and fitness coaches how to improve client results by getting to the root of their problems. Amber loves chocolate and peanut butter (preferably together), lifting heavy weights at CrossFit, and hanging out at the beach with her family. Hard Clients are Better Than Easy Ones Not one to shy away from a challenge, Amber enjoys seeking out clients who struggle to get results. This is the result of trying out numerous coaching styles and working with many different clients over the years. Now, she finds further satisfaction in helping other coaches learn how to dig deep with their clients rather than just dismissing them when they fail to achieve. While working this way takes more effort than simply working with easy clients, Amber sees it as an essential part of her success. It has forced her to become a more involved and informed coach, something that people seek out. Helping Clients Help Themselves Perhaps one of the more frustrating parts of coaching is seeing clients repeatedly sabotage their own progress. Amber explains how she approaches this by starting with the root of the problem. Instead of addressing the symptom, she helps clients examine their beliefs, some of which may be standing between them and their goals. Interestingly, Amber finds this process is easier in group settings. This may be because it is easier to see things in other people than in yourself. Once you recognize something familiar in others, it is relatively simple to apply it to your own experience. Group coaching can seem daunting. However, Amber sees a lot of value in it. To that end, she shares some practical advice on how to coach a group of people effectively. This includes embedding coaching within teaching, seeking out similar clients, and truly understanding who your ideal client is. Who is your ideal coaching client? Leave a comment on the episode page! In This Episode Why working with difficult clients can be good business [11:05] Helping clients avoid self-sabotage by getting to the root causes of their beliefs [20:40] Managing group calls and sessions so they stay organized and effective [36:00] Why developing your skills as a coach is more important than marketing [46:40] What is the coach's responsibility for their clients' results [51:40] Quotes “Being able to see people go through a transformation never gets boring.” [10:59] “We, as professionals, have to be able to give good solid scientifically-based recommendations and be able to back it up by helping clients overcome the mental blocks that prevent them from accepting that scientific information and using it in their own journey.”[18:11] “The reason my program took off was not because I was a great marketer. It was because I was a great coach.” [47:17] “Allow clients to have their individual definition of success. It doesn't have to be your definition of success.” [1:02:06] Review Fed and Fearless on Apple Podcasts! “Your community is your greatest asset and your greatest marketing tool,” Lindsay says on this solo episode of Dear FoundHer. The first of two episodes in which she shares with listeners what she has emphasized throughout the 72 episodes of the podcast thus far: the importance of building your community. In fact, the more you show up as your authentic self, sharing your personal story and your ‘why' with your audience, the more they will want to buy what you're selling. What's more, your community will eventually do your marketing for you by spreading the word about your business. Which means that even those with a shoestring budget are wise to start engaging and building one. Here, Lindsay shares five specific steps founders can take to with their community including asking for feedback and offering the community a discount on something. These steps helped her build her first company Bump Club and Beyond. And even though she sold her first company, Lindsay plans to further her new mission–to help female founders achieve the same success. It took years to grow the first business, but with all of the invaluable lessons she learned along the way, her second business grew within months. And by taking her advice, you can save yourself years of time by starting your business by building your community from the beginning. Quotes: • “Being scrappy and utilizing your resources is so imperative when you're getting a business off the ground. Your community is your number one asset.” (5:46- 5:55 | Lindsay) • “My community came first, and the monetization came after.” (10:38-10:44 | Lindsay) • “People want to buy from people.” (11:50-11:52 | Lindsay) • “In showing up to serve and connect and engage with your community, you build a natural bridge for transaction over time. Whether you're a brand new entrepreneur, or you have some experience under your belt, creating a community is free.” (11:53-12:09 | Lindsay) Connect with Lindsay Pinchuk: Grab time to connect with Lindsay on how you can work together: https://calendly.com/lindsaypinchuk/i-want-to-work-with-lindsay Follow: https://www.instagram.com/lindsaypinchuk For more info on how to work with Lindsay: Coaching: https://www.lindsaypinchuk.com/smallbusinesscoaching Enterprise Consulting: https://www.lindsaypinchuk.com/work-with-lindsay Please don't forget to rate, comment, and subscribe to Dear FoundHer on Apple, Spotify, or wherever you listen to podcasts! When a leader is intentional, the path to growth is clear. Everyone has a mission and wants to be a part of something. It takes an intentional leader to recognize everyone's purpose and make it their mission to provide people a place where they are encouraged to grow and feel included. In this episode of Fifth Dimensional Leadership, I interview Patrick Spence, CEO of Sonos. Patrick has been with Sonos for nine years, the last four as CEO. In our conversation, Patrick talks about fostering a culture of safety within the organization, and how to be an intentional leader. Sonos is leading the way with its extraordinary wireless speakers and home sound systems that innovate the listening experience. It was originally founded by a small group of entrepreneurs determined to create a revolutionary home sound system, and they succeeded! Sonos is now a billion dollar brand with Patrick Spence at the helm since 2017. Prior to Sonos, Patrick worked with Blackberry for 14 years in a variety of roles, eventually landing as the SVP and Managing Director of Global Sales and Regional Marketing. Patrick is a great, conscious and sophisticated leader and I can't wait for you to listen to this episode! Things you will also learn in this episode: How to foster an organizational culture that allows people to speak their truth What an “evolved culture” is How to manage a healthy work/life balance as a leader The importance of having integrity as a leader How living abroad can impact your career Tips for aspiring leaders Quotes "Being vulnerable in tough times opens the door for others to be willing to speak their truth." - Patrick Spence “We're much more similar as people than we are different.” - Patrick Spence “Be intentional about what you're trying to build; talk openly about what you're trying to become.” - Patrick Spence “If you shoot the ‘messenger', you're sending a signal to the organization, and no one else will want to raise those difficult issues.” - Patrick Spence “Walk the talk. Set an example. Do the right thing when no one is watching.” - Patrick Spence “At the end of the day, language is all we have; we're never perfect communicators, so repetition is key.” - Patrick Spence “If you're trying to fit people into a culture, you're not bringing the brilliance of every individual into the mix.” - Patrick Spence
Intuitive eating is a hot concept in the health and wellness industries right now. The health at any size communities are warring against diet culture, but the question we have is - is intuitive eating possible for Christian women? Char-Lee Cassel, who is a Christian dietitian, joins me to discuss this. About Char-Lee Cassel Char-Lee Cassel is a registered dietitian and an Intuitive Eating Coach for Christian Women who are sick of struggling with body image and want to gain confidence with their food and exercise decisions. She has developed a positive body image and a healthy relationship with food and exercise through studying God's word and implementing the principles of Intuitive Eating in her own life. Obsessed with: Jesus, coffee, donuts, outdoor adventures, and motherhood. Aligning How You Eat With Your Spiritual Purpose Char-Lee and I agree that without the Word, intuitive eating, and eating for health in general, falls flat. God gives us purpose. By treating our bodies with respect, we are honoring them the way God intended. While some people in the wellness industry might think that intuitive eating is not the best way to eat, Char-Lee explains why it's actually aligned with Christian values. She encourages us to listen to the needs of our bodies and to fill them with healthy foods. When we eat well and treat our bodies with love and kindness, we are keeping our own temples clean and healthy. Spiritually Fasting in a World of Diet Culture How does spiritual fasting intersect with intuitive eating? Especially given that many women approach intuitive eating from a past of disordered eating, this can be tough. But Char-Lee shares that so long as someone is far enough along in their eating disorder recovery, undertaking a spiritual fast can still be an okay thing to do. We also talk about other ways to participate in a spiritual fast that doesn't involve food. Fasting should be a regular part of your spiritual practice as the purpose is to make you more mindful of how you connect with God. Finally, Char-Lee talks about why diet culture attracts so many Christian women. Diet culture as a whole is incredibly toxic and takes us away from our relationship with God. This is another reason why she advocates in favor of intuitive eating as it's more in line with Christian values. Have you participated in a spiritual fast before? How can you align your eating habits with your Christian values? Let me know in the comments on the episode page! In This Episode How intuitive eating rules fall flat without the Word [9:30] Why intuitive eating is aligned with Christian values [14:25] Where spiritual fasting intersects with intuitive eating [21:45] Why you're not in control of the outcome of the way you eat [37:17] Quotes “Being attuned to the Holy Spirit is a huge part of being attuned to your body and being able to make decisions that honor your tastebuds, your preferences, and also your physical health.” [11:15] “I think that fasting is really important. But I don't think that it has to be food. I think it can be food, though, even if you are an intuitive eater.” [24:44] “We try not to deny our hunger. We try to honor our hunger. I believe that God gave us hunger signals for a reason, he wants us to fuel ourselves to be able to do his work. But spiritual fasting is a biblical principle. It's something that we're called to do. I think if your heart is right and you're removed from diet culture, I don't see that there's anything wrong with that as an intuitive eater.” [36:39] Review Fed and Fearless on Apple Podcasts! I'm sure many of you were known as the “weird” kid in school or wrongfully ridiculed for being different from everyone else. It's even more unfair when people perceive your uniqueness as a weakness, then actively use it against you. But have you ever opened yourself up to the belief that that may be your biggest strength? If not, now is a better time than ever to invest your time and energy into discovering what you were meant to do— and be successful along the way! Grounded individuals like Giovanni Marsico remind us there's nothing wrong with being different. Instead of being isolated or put down, we should in fact be celebrated! This very mentality sparked Giovanni's inspiration from a very young age, and not just for his own life. What started as an immersive outlet for teenagers to come together became an international showstopper! Gio himself got labeled “nerd” and “geek” for being gifted and showing an interest in things like superheroes. But when the labels could've gotten the better of him, Gio took this struggle and turned it into a career like no other! Giovanni's flourishing passion for comics and superheroes, among other life experiences, helped him design an entire philosophy known as the Aligned Path. This methodology is to help build community in a more thoughtful and productive way, where it really matters. And now Giovanni is spreading this message in the most thrilling, vibrant events anyone has ever seen! Which is why I'm super ecstatic to welcome Giovanni Marsico, creator of the Archangel summit, on this IHML Show episode! Join us as we have an empowering discussion about how to embrace our own gifts, why we should celebrate them, and what we can do to better serve others. Giovanni's detailed telling of his own journey is enough to inspire anyone, but how he embodies it is truly magical! This episode is for all of you looking to find your place, and to fit in. But if there's anything Giovanni (or I) have to say, it's that you were made to stand out… so embrace it! In This Episode: [1:05] Giovanni takes us back to how he got started doing his otherworldly work. [7:31] Listen to find out where Gio's desire to make a bigger impact comes from! [10:52] How Gio gained the clarity he needed to realize his resentment— and how he morphed it into something mind-blowing. [12:40] You need to know how Gio got to meet his biggest inspiration… [15:28] Tune in to hear how you can figure out if you're on the Aligned Path, a philosophy proposed by Giovanni! [16:32] Gio shares how he pulled off his first major Archangel event! [19:42] Want to build a network of meaningful connections? Giovanni knows a thing (or three thousand). [21:25] This is what Giovanni knows is his ultimate superpower… [24:55] Yes, Giovanni has had to work on experiencing his inspiring outlook! [28:16] A behind-the-scenes look into how Giovanna executed his events amidst COVID. [32:35] How can you identify your own gifts? Gio shares his framework for doing so! [35:19] This is one of Gio's childhood dreams that inspires the creative elements behind his events. [39:10] We ask what Gio believes is one thing you can do to create a life better than your dreams! Quotes “[Being unhappy in my career] was like climbing up this giant mountain and then realizing I'm on the wrong mountain, but I couldn't have realized it until I got to that mountain.” — Giovanni Marsico And I want[ed] to be around more people like me, where there's aligned values. And it's not just about ‘how do we make more money?' Not that's not important, but to me, money is the tool that fuels the mission, but it's not the mission itself.” — Giovanni Marsico “I think what I focused completely on is developing relationships and networks by being useful and constantly giving and being resourceful for people.” — Giovanni Marsico “And part of what we [the Archangel summit] do is community building. The more you understand who you are, what drives you, and what you believe your values are, then you start finding more people like you. And the coolest thing that happens is that when you can connect to people who are aligned with you to each other, they become BFFs.” — Giovanni Marsico “I'm constantly thinking, in my head ‘where is this person going and how can I help them get there faster?' either through an idea or a connection or introduction or a resource or something I've done that makes sense or is useful.” — Giovanni Marsico “I was often the new kid and didn't fit in. So now for a living, I make people fit in. I create a community! I create for the people who don't fit in, I want you to be in my world. If you feel like an alien, or if you stand out or you stick out, especially because you're different then to me, that's a thing that can be celebrated.” — Giovanni Marsico “There's no distinction. I feel like it's an art form and it's play and it's creative. And it's fun and it's challenging and rewarding and it's problem solving and puzzle solving. But work for many people is a four letter word.” — Giovanni Marsico “There's no voice telling you that there's something wrong with you inside your head. It's usually outside your head, people telling you what's wrong with you. And then we internalize that stuff, but we are naturally ourselves. And then we're told to stop doing the things that are naturally ourselves because it makes us stand out and it makes us different and to survive, we need to fit in.” — Giovanni Marsico “I think we're often stuck in our living belief of what's possible because of our own paradigms or what we've been taught or shown. And then we just assume that's all there is until you start meeting people who have done bigger things, then you realize that it's possible and then it opens up the door of possibility for you.” — Giovanni Marsico Links & Resources Follow the I Heart My Life Show on Apple Podcasts https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/i-heart-my-life-show/id1569047758 Subscribe to the I Heart My Life Show on Spotify https://open.spotify.com/show/1Zw6fI37FrfVjZMXlMiZZ6 Connect with Emily: Emily Williams Website https://emilywilliams.com/ Emily on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/emilywilliams/ I Heart My Life Website https://www.iheartmylife.com/ I Heart My Life on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/iheartmylife/ I Heart My Life on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/iheartmylifenow I Heart My Life on LinkedIn https://www.linkedin.com/company/i-heart-my-life/ Join the IHML community to receive exclusive announcements and tips. https://www.iheartmylife.com/newsletter Email: info@iheartmylife.com Connect with Giovanni Giovanni's Website https://archangel.cc Follow Giovanni on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/giftedwithgio/

“Human beings, we crave community. It's an essential part of our life and our being,” says Chris Colt, The Challenge Champion. Chris says this as he believes that communities we're in, physically or not, have a big impact on our growth as individuals, and also as professionals. And this is exactly what Chris shares in this episode, why communities are an essential part of our lives, and how we can build a community. Mike is also a cyclist, and that's how he realized the importance of a community - when he's with his community of riders, very strong riders that could offset his weaknesses and vice versa. And from this, he now is helping other professionals and entrepreneurs, like you, build not just an audience, but a community. Tune into this week's episode of The Business of You for a conversation with host Michelle Griffin and special guest Chris Colt about what really is a community and how it could help you grow individually and personally, how to build a community with a clear and specific purpose and structure, why he recommends starting with a micro-community with a micro-niche to be referable, and why you should consider moving your community away from a rented land platform, such as LinkedIn. Quotes: “Being that vulnerable when you're in that community is extremely important, and being a community member when somebody can open up to you and share that vulnerability to support them is key.” (2:26-2:35) “Build a community, not an audience.” (02:37-02:39) "Here's the fact, your business ideas can be copied. My business ideas, Michelle's ideas can be copied, but that community you build around it cannot be copied." (04:25-04:35) “The purpose has to be motivating, it has to be fun, it's got to be an adventure.” (9:15-09:23) “Everybody has a different mission that matters." (10:56-10:59) “A purpose needs to be very specific. So it's got to be clearly picture of who you're going to serve in this community, what will be done together, and what we'll be mastered together." “Being able to craft content so it resonates with people and the frustrations they have is actually the starting point,” shares Richard Moore, sales expert with over 18 years of experience and Founder of LinkedIn Client Accelerator. In today's episode, Richard discusses how to create content that doesn't feel like a sales pitch to generate leads. Nowadays, people are hyper aware of when they are being sold to. If you design content that feels too much like an ad, people will just scroll past it. Richard shares tips for creating LinkedIn content that turns into genuine leads such as building community through engagement, and adding gentle, low-pressure call to action to posts. Tune into this week's episode of The Business of You for a conversation with host Michelle Griffin and special guest Richard Moore on how to generate leads on LinkedIn without coming across like a salesperson. Quotes • “Being able to craft content so it resonates with people and the frustrations they have is actually the start point. What we really need to be able to do is not just stop a crowd of people and make them read, but make them rethink.” (5:19-5:31) • “Leads aren't people who show up, who I then chase. Leads are people who step forward because they feel like there's something there that might change something in their world and they're self-selecting.” (7:48-8:01) • “To start conversations to be helpful and hope that in time, people just think fondly of you enough that they will end up setting themselves. Yes, you will close deals, but how can you predict when the next one is? And those people will get one. Six weeks later, they might get another one possibly. And they can't decide that they're going to generate leads.” (12:32-13:00) “You're always competing with the option of just ignore it and move on.” (15:09-15:14) • “My advice to the audience here is to ask yourself, are you genuinely using real empathy and real awareness now? Is your language reflecting your agenda more than theirs?” (20:30-20:52) Connect with Richard Moore: Email: richard@therichardmoore.com Instagram: @the.richard.moore TT: @therichardmoore LinkedIn: linkedin.com/in/richardjamesmoore Connect with Michelle Griffin, Personal Brand Strategist/Founder, BRANDthority: Website: YourBrandYourBusiness.com LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/michellebgriffin/ Get active on LinkedIn: Join The #365 Creators, my community of 900+ global professionals supporting one another as we create content, connection, and community on LinkedIn. Roni Jackson, Co-Founder of Red Flag Mania, joins Yuliana today to share her inspiring phoenix tale. Roni identifies and expands upon two inflection points in her life that altered her trajectory considerably. The first, losing her mother at a young age, and the second, being forced to give up her long time career, both had significant impacts upon her life, helping to shape her and become the resilient and courageous phoenix she is today. Toni begins by discussing these events that redirected the course of her life, describing the loneliness and isolation she felt growing up in a new household after she lost her mom and how that influenced the way she raised her own children. She also details how she created a strong family unit in a bid to dispel that fear of loneliness and isolation which she carried into adulthood. The episode comes to a close with Roni sharing the one song that truly resonates with her life - a song about finding her space and happy place in this vast world. Ad costs are increasing, that's a fact. So to continue to run ads profitably, there are two actions you can take. One is to continue working to get the lowest CPA possible. That's a given and should always be a goal. However, when it's not possible to get back to your insanely low CPA's from 2019, then the next action is to increase your AOV (average order value). Increasing your AOV means you'll be increasing the average dollar amount spent per paying customer. This will allow you to spend more in ads to obtain a single purchase. In this week's episode, we'll look into several ways to increase your AOV that you can implement immediately so that you can start spending more on your ads and making more profitable sales!Go ahead, grab your coffee and get ready for Episode 23 of the Ad Agency Secrets Podcast!LOVE MY PODCAST?Then please rate and review my show on the apple podcast - https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/ad-agency-secrets-podcast/id1541127807! Matt and Garrett share their insights from the Ninja Selling Leadership Institute about how to become a better leader and good quality manager. They talk about how this can influence an office and lead to greater success for agents as well. Broker managers can make or break the entire company experience, but not everyone is meant to fit this role. Our hosts break down Larry Kendall's approach for bringing in the right people, hiring the best of the best, and making sure agents are coachable, not just great producers. They discuss the importance of having a strong vision for your company, how this can help you attract ambitious agents, and using your core values to guide every decision toward growth moving forward. You'll hear Matt and Garrett's most important takeaways from their time at the Leadership Institute, and they reflect on how these principles can work for leadership roles in any industry. Episode Highlights: Matt and Garrett attended the Ninja Selling Leadership Institute Today's episode is about what they've learned from the course about good quality leadership and managers Informal leaders Larry Kendall's quote that effectiveness equals the quality of the decision multiplied by the buy-in, not plus A 10/10 decision with one buy-in is a “10” idea, but a 7/10 quality decision with 8 buy-ins is now a “56” idea What are you experiencing with your agents - Anxiety? Lack of buy-in? Stress? Confusion? Look back at the pieces you're missing that are causing this outcome If you make better managers, and make them better leaders, you'll see better agents as a result Managers can make or break the entire company experience Some people fit well into that role, others do not Hire managers who create a positive work environment and “rally the troops” Larry Kendall's process for hiring agents Bringing in people who are coachable is the most powerful thing you can do for your company It's not all about their numbers - you want to make sure they're ambitious and ready to learn as well Some offices have certain hiring quotas that make it difficult to focus on quality As managers, you need to ask yourself whether company core values align with the metrics you're required to hit This ties into the vision of the company You can have a productive company, but without a strong vision, it's never going to feel like freedom Make your vision big enough so that everyone else's vision can fit underneath it Productive time for managers and agents Manager's job is to drive GCI, and agents bring in the GCI These principles apply to leadership roles in any industry Quotes: “Being a great manager doesn't necessarily equate to being a great leader.” “If you're a good leader in the office, you know who your informal leaders are.” “Effectiveness equals the quality of the decision, multiplied by the buy-in.” “You watch these offices that just struggle to get things accomplished. They've got all this great stuff, but they don't know how to make it come together.” “What are you experiencing with your agents? Is it anxiety? Is it lack of buy-in? Is it stress? Is it confusion?” “A lot of people come to us because they don't have great managers.” “It's not the commission splits. It's not the technology support that gets agents to stay or leave. Those things are important, don't get me wrong. But it ultimately comes down to who is the manager.” “Who are you putting into that role? There are people that are meant to be good managers, and they're meant to rally the troops. And they're meant to give complex information in ways that everybody can understand… That's a skill. And a lot of that skill is not trainable.” “Bringing in the top of the top, the best of the best, the ones that can follow rules, the ones that are coachable.” “If you focus on coachability, you can take somebody who is brand new to the business, but they're ambitious, they're ready to listen. And that's got to be part of your recruiting process.” “As managers, as leaders of a company, look at what you've established as your core values, and ask yourself, Do our practices that we have in place, in the metrics that we're telling people to hit, match with what our core values are? And if they don't, then we have a mismatch that you need to go back and say, Hey, let's just readjust some things.” “When you have a vision, you can attract agents because they know exactly where you're going. And you'll attract the people who want to be a part of that and want to go with you.” “Make your vision big enough so that everyone else's vision can fit underneath it.” “[Vision] is what's lacking the most in most companies. And then they wonder why they are herding cats all the time.” “The manager's job is to drive GCI - that's their job. And the people who bring in the GCI are the agents.” “The biggest thing that I think people can take away from this is, this is a very, very important thing in this industry. Focus on quality leadership, quality management. Whether you're an agent trying to encourage that from your owners and your managers, or you're a manager encouraging it from your owners, or you're an owner. Let's go top down.” Links: www.TheNinjaSellingPodcast.com Email us at TSW@TheNinjaSellingPodcast.com Leave a voicemail at (208) MY-NINJA Ninja Selling www.NinjaSelling.com @ninjasellingofficial Ninja Coaching: www.NinjaCoaching.com @ninja.coaching Ninja Events www.NinjaSelling.com/Events Garrett garrett@ninjacoaching.com @ninjaredding Matt matt@ninjacoaching.com @matthewjbonelli The Ninja Selling Podcast Facebook Group
Betrayal can be devastatingly painful, and when you're a highly sensitive person, you can feel so much more than others. Sadly, people can—and will—judge you for that. How many times have you heard people telling you that you're letting your emotions get the better of you? That might be because you're more empathetic than most. That's not something you should be ashamed of. In fact, that's what makes you unique. In today's insightful episode of From Betrayal to Breakthrough, Linda Binns teaches us to embrace our uniqueness and continue thriving even in a non-inclusive world. About Guest/Topic Linda Binns is a breakthrough energy coach. As an introverted, intuitive, and highly sensitive person herself, she understands what it feels like to be different, and she is on a mission to help others know who they are and learn to love themselves. In This Episode Who is Linda Binns? [0:10] What does it mean to be highly sensitive? [2:04] How does an empath differ from a highly sensitive person? [5:53] Do highly sensitive people have a mental health problem? [7:09] If you're highly sensitive, can you still change?[14:12] What are the benefits of being highly sensitive? [15:29] What are some of the challenges for the highly sensitive empath who has been betrayed? [17:26] How do we know if we're highly sensitive? [21:10] …and many more Quotes “Being highly sensitive means you pick up on all these things, so you'd be aware that somebody is upset or something is going on. But being an empath, it is more like you absorb that energy kind of like a sponge, and so if you are not careful, it can become yours.” [6:05] “So, when you have a disorder, it means, yes, you're highly sensitive but it's so overwhelming that you can't function. So just simply being highly sensitive, I think, is a trait. Like, you could be an introvert, extrovert, or type-A personality. It's really a trait. It doesn't become a disorder unless it's so intense that you can't function.” [7:50] “I love being highly sensitive. I would not want to be any other way because I just—it enables you to tap into the advantages of it, the gifts of it because we see things, experience things, feel things that other people don't. And now I think, my gosh. I wouldn't want to be without that ability.” [14:54] Resources Mentioned Linda Binns' Website The Post Betrayal Syndrome Quiz PBT Podcasts The PBT Institute Membership Community

SSK Ep. 001: Building Trust Through Vulnerability Trust is the foundation of everything, but how do we learn to build trust through vulnerability? Brittany Lynne is a yoga and meditation teacher based in Los Angeles, Costa Rica, and the Bay Area. She specializes in teaching mindfulness, meditation, and sound healing as well as physical yoga practices (vinyasa flow, yin, restorative, and gentle yoga) and leads retreats and yoga teacher trainings around the world. In this episode, Brittany and I discuss why stepping out of our comfort zones and learning to trust ourselves will allow us to trust others. If our trust is broken, we can always go back to it. The number one person to rebuild trust with is ourselves; once we surrender, our confidence can shine. Brittany shares why she needed to stop over-efforting at work and in her relationships to trust that things will line up the way they are meant to be. When we move from over-thinking, we can drop away from our thoughts and into our hearts. Plus, we explain why the one word you need to stop saying is should, and we discuss our craving for community and connection. Stay tuned to hear Brittany lead us in a grounding meditation. In This Episode: About Brittany Lynne [ 1:45 ] If we do not trust ourselves, we cannot trust others [ 4:45 ] Why leaders need to be vulnerable [ 9:55 ] When our trust is broken, we can still go back to it [ 13:35 ] Why we need to stop over-efforting in our lives [ 16:30 ] We need to release “should” from our lives [ 21:15 ] Learning how to trust our intuitions [ 26:05 ] We are all connected [ 31:40 ] Brittany leads a grounding meditation [ 36:15 ] Quotes: “Being honest means speaking your truth without holding back.” “You have to trust to trust.” “I am going to stop putting so much damn effort in every single piece of my life.” Links Mentioned: Sara’s Facebook Live Boldly Beautifully Awakening Beautifully Awakening on Instagram
Today’s conversation is one that I’ve wanted to have with all of you for a while now. Narcissism, and especially being in a relationship with a narcissist, is a hard topic and a hugely important one that I see in my work a lot, and which I have experienced personally. These days, I can see that it is a condition that is making a lot of people sick, so, in this episode, we’ll explore what it is, what it looks like, and what you can do about it. We begin by exploring the pattern that narcissism follows, what it is exactly, the traits it possesses, as well as a common misconception about it. Drawing upon information from Dr. Ramani among other sources, we’ll examine the four types of narcissism, some tactics that narcissists use, and what you can do if you are in a relationship with a narcissist or you know someone who is. Above all else, I need to emphasize that if you feel you are in such a relationship, and it is escalating to the point where you do not feel safe, please ask for help, make a phone call, and get out. Your health has to come first, and that is precisely what today’s difficult but incredibly important episode is all about. Tameenah Adams is a Child Care Business Coach for The Child Care Success Company and has over 18 years of experience in personnel management. She joins Kris for a conversation about gaining confidence through preparation and action and how she has continued to expand her empire and development centers throughout the pandemic. Tameenah also talks about the ways that Jeff Bezos inspired her business model to be the Everything School, the power of connection, and how to create a team where everyone feels bought-in and part of the future vision. Key Takeaways: [15:33] Tameenah has three different Child Care Brands, along with a temporary staffing company. She was inspired by how Jeff Bezos started Amazon with just books, then expanded to being the go-to place for everything. [20:28] Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Tameenah stayed transparent about her own energy and kept it real with her team and parents. She frequently checked in and made sure she unplugged at stressful times to come back with restored energy. [28:42] There were three cases at Tameenah’s school, but they only had to close one time. This is in large part due to the fact that they stayed up on health regulations and really got their prevention and response plans in order. [31:01] A pandemic is no reason for Tameenah to slow down — she is closing deals, working on letters of intent, and looking at securing a commercial space for a catering company to serve child care centers. [34:52] There are many ways to stay connected and involved during this time: keep up with the development in your area, ramp up on marketing, get involved with your community, and volunteer. [44:11] When you let your team know you are all growing together and the leader welcomes getting “called out” from employees, they feel bought-in and empowered. Quotes: “Being real as an owner empowered my team.” — Tameenah “I had to relinquish power, control, and fear.” — Tameenah “The only way to be successful is to fight these fears, relinquish control to my team, and let them know when they make a mistake we will work through it together.” — Tameenah Mentioned in This Episode: Kris Murray The Child Care Success Company Child Care Success Academy Child Care Success Summit — offering $1 ticket Grow Your Center Child Care Authority Child Care Exchange Early Learning Leaders Happy Faces Water Babies

Melton has more than 15 years of marketing experience, including as VP of Global Marketing for SAP Concur, and CMO of Schoology. At Tenable, Melton is responsible for driving demand gen for cybersecurity solutions that are used by more than 30,000 organizations worldwide, including more than half of the Fortune 500.On this episode, Melton breaks down his solution-based marketing approach, how to truly understand the problems your customers face, and how to make your brand synonymous with the solutions they need.Key TakeawaysMarketing has two missions: tell your story to the market, and then when the market is searching for an answer to a problem, be there with the answer. The job of a marketer is to help the buyer understand how to manage their problems. It’s to help them see that there is a solution that can take a lot of pain and effort out of their life, allow them to do a better job, and help their company be more successful.Management of your website is crucial. It's where you express yourself as a brand, develop your category, create community, inform and educate the market on the products you offer, and it’s how you assemble those products into solutions that are important for solving real-world problems.Having conversational marketing on your website is an essential tool. It’s an attractive alternative to gated content forms and it goes beyond being a lead-capture tool. It allows you to have meaningful conversations with your customers and guide them through their buying journey.Quotes“Being a VP of marketing is like being the VP of helping the customer solve a problem. We have a lot of internal processes and KPIs and metrics and all that's really important, but our job is really to understand our buyer and understand what they're up against.”“[Our customer] is not looking to buy a product, they're looking to solve a problem. We need to jump in there and help them solve the problem. That's how they're going to end up buying the product. It doesn't come the other way around.”“We've built a demand gen organization that is dedicated to reaching our target persona and changing their mind. That’s it in a nutshell.”“We start with the buyer and the problems they have in their day to day world. We try to help them understand that there is a better way to do what we do. We hold their hand through the process of learning how it could apply in their organization and what the potential benefit is. And then, in an ideal world, we start a conversation with them. If we can do that, we've succeeded in our role as marketing. If we can't do that, then all the KPIs, processes, tech– it just doesn't matter.”SponsorDemand Gen Visionaries is brought to you by Qualified.com, the #1 Conversational Marketing platform for companies that use Salesforce and the secret weapon for Demand Gen pros. Nutritionists get into this line of work to help people, not for a love of money. But money is still an important part of your business. If you’re a nutritionist with your own business or want to be, I’m sharing some of what I’ve learned about the topic of nutrition and setting your prices. About Price Setting Many of us get stuck on the idea that you should charge what you’re worth. This is ultimately a trap. “Charging what you’re worth” is a meaningless statement. This line of thinking will cause you to either undercharge your clients or work yourself into the ground. You’re a healthcare provider. You can’t set up a pricing structure that forces you to sacrifice your own wellbeing in the name of your business. Creating the Right Offers An essential part of your price structure relies on your offers. I’ve identified eight elements to creating an irresistible offer for any potential client. These are person, problem, potential, package, price, perks, pressure, and promise. Understanding the prices that you need to be charging to effectively run your business is a key part of how you build out everything else. Crunching Numbers to Determine Your Rates There’s a lot to consider when setting your prices. Your annual earning goal, what your services are worth to your ideal client, and the cost of alternatives are all important factors. Perhaps most importantly, you should be thinking more about what you want to earn than what a client might be willing to pay. As a business owner, you have the privilege of choosing your own hourly rate. By following along with this worksheet, you can determine what you need to charge to achieve your revenue goals. Once you take all your regular expenses into account, you can add those to your personal expenses. Add these to your financial desires, factor in income tax and how much you actually want to work, and you’ll have a pretty good idea of what you need to earn. How do you determine the worth of what you offer your clients? Let me know in the comments on the episode page! Got a question you’d love to hear me answer on the show? Leave me a voice message here! In This Episode The myth of charging according to your worth [3:00] The eight Ps of an irresistible offer [8:50] The most important considerations behind how you set your prices [10:12] How to set your own hourly rate [15:18] The difference between working in your business and working on your business [31:20] Steps for bringing in the clients that will pay the price you set [40:00] Quotes “Being healthy is incredibly valuable to your business and your clients. Practicing what you preach as a healthcare provider is incredibly important to be working in integrity in your business.” [4:26] “Feeling great and taking care of your needs allows you to take care of your clients better.” [20:14] “Starting and growing a business is way more than just figuring out what your prices are.” [41:11] Key Takeaways When you charge what your services are worth, rather than what you feel you’re worth, both you and your clients will benefit. In the end, you’ll serve your clients best if you’re making the right amount of money. As a nutritionist, you have the power to completely change someone’s life for the better. There is a huge value in that. Don’t undersell what you do. If charging a lot doesn’t feel right, just remember the value that your clients will get in the end. The most important part of the equation isn’t the price itself. It’s creating a business that serves your clients on such a level that the prices you set become easy to ask for. Malala is an amazing example of a strong young woman fighting for what she believes in, and her determination and perseverance inspire me every day"."The fact that I am a minority woman in the engineering field is unique in itself! Only about 11% of engineers are women and the percentage of minority females in the field is even less than that. My goal is to break the glass ceiling in this field, specifically in the technology and computer engineering fields. Half of the population is female but 1/10 of engineers, the people who build things for people, are female. Therefore, I stand out because my opinion is valuable as I represent half of the human population! Additionally, having faced and overcome adversity in this field has taught me the importance of standing up for yourself and for others".To reach Rhearhea.manjrekar@stonybrook.eduwww.childrenshopeindia.org/ch3Please email us at HealthyLifestylewithLA@gmail.com and follow us on social media @healthylifestylewithLAOur Goal at Healthy Lifestyle is to inspire, educate and empower you to fulfilling a healthy, emotional, spiritual and physical life, so you can feel empowered to live the life you have always wanted and dreamed. **Warning - Listener Discretion is Advised ** This was one of the realest conversations for my podcast yet! Two moms talk straight and completely UNCENSORED. My guest today, Jennifer McDade, mastered life and had a flourishing career BEFORE marriage but was faced with the tough decision to set it all aside to start a family with the man of her dreams. And boy does some serious wisdom to share with us. Listen in as we chat about getting lost in the rat race of parenting and being a spouse, tailoring your parenting for each child, and what we're teaching our kids by what we model for them every day. This is an episode you won't want to miss! What we're talking about Prioritizing You! Tailoring Your Parenting For Each Child Teaching Our Kids By Our Actions Every Day Getting Lost In the Rat Race As a new spouse, Jennifer decided to retire from teaching. It was a struggle, but a decision she wanted to make so they could have a family. It wasn't long before they had three children and she didn't recognize herself anymore. Then she had guilt about trying to find herself! Mom guilt is real, y'all. What we don't realize though, is that most of the time we unknowingly bring it on ourselves. We're talking about the slippery slope of doing so much for others that we lose ourselves, and how we have clawed our way back out of that habit, while becoming the best version of ourselves for our families. Tailoring Your Parenting For Each Child As we talked about being authentic to ourselves, we dove into how each of our kids is so different from one another, and how parenting them all the same just doesn't work. Celebrating each of them for their individuality may seem more difficult on the surface, but, in reality, it makes our lives a bit calmer because each feels seen and recognized for who they truly are. It's an offshoot of the lesson of being authentic to yourself. Teaching Our Kids By Our Actions Every Day We all want our children to somehow absorb all the things we expect of them and would like to teach them. But what we don't always realize is that we are teaching them more than we know by our own behavior and what we say. We are their teachers 24/7, whether we acknowledge it or not. Jennifer and I chatted more about not only being authentic for ourselves, but for our children. It's when we are the best version of ourselves that we can be the best spouse for our partner, the best parent for our children, and the best friend to others. Are you being authentic with yourself and others? TIMESTAMPS 9:10 -9:57 (47 sec JP & JM) To some degree people struggle with...me being authentic to myself. 13:53 - 14:25 (32 sec JM) You have to be who you are regardless...simple to say, but it really doesn't. 17:15 - 18:00 (45 sec JP & JM) One of the things that I try to do as much as possible...as opposed to celebrating who they are. 22:37 - 23:01 (24 sec JP) I had an entire meltdown in this house...where nobody had to think about anything. 27:47 - 28:22 (35 sec JP) My point is, for those of you that are listening...something else will always take that time. 28:50 - 29:16 (26 sec JM) My kids seem to enjoy when I'm enjoying myself...for whatever it is, I do that. QUOTES Being a mother is the hardest, and most rewarding job, that one can ever have. - JP People see the stay at home mom as the kept woman. - JM It's not how I say it. It's what I say. The content is not going to change. - JM You have to do what makes life good for you, and whatever that means, it has to be on your terms. You can't let society dictate that for you. - JM It's about, in each phase of your life, maximizing the joy in it. - JP If you always live your life trying to please people, you will be exhausted and very unhappy. - JP Be authentic to yourself. - JM We can define our children without knowing that's what we're doing. - JM Your children's accomplishments don't define you as a person. You can't use their accomplishments as validation. - JP I lost myself in the rat race of motherhood and being a spouse, and then I had the nerve to feel guilty for trying to find myself. - JM That mom guilt is really real. - JP Get those kids to help you! - JP I need to be the best version of me, so I can be the best mother, the best wife, the best daughter, etc., and it all starts with being the best me. - JM

Intuitive eating is a hot concept in the health and wellness industries right now. The health at any size communities are warring against diet culture, but the question we have is - is intuitive eating possible for Christian women? Char-Lee Cassel, who is a Christian dietician, joins me to discuss this. How to eat intuitively from a Christian perspective Char-Lee Cassel is a registered dietician nutritionist who focuses on intuitive eating from a Christian perspective. Char-Lee realized that she couldn’t be an entrepreneur and help women with their diet and nutrition without embracing and sharing the Word. She uses a Biblical model of health and wellness to guide women back to eating and moving in the way God created them. Char-Lee and I agree that without the Word, intuitive eating, and eating for health in general, falls flat. God gives us purpose. By treating our bodies with respect, we are honoring them the way God intended. While some people in the wellness industry might think that intuitive eating is not the best way to eat, Char-Lee explains why it’s actually aligned with Christian values. She encourages us to listen to the needs of our bodies and to fill them with healthy foods. When we eat well and treat our bodies with love and kindness, we are keeping our own temples clean and healthy. How does spiritual fasting intersect with intuitive eating? Especially given that many women approach intuitive eating from a past of disordered eating, this can be tough. But Char-Lee shares that so long as someone is far enough along in their eating disorder recovery, undertaking a spiritual fast can still be an okay thing to do. We also talk about other ways to participate in a spiritual fast that don’t involve food. Fasting should be a regular part of your spiritual practice as the purpose is to make you more mindful of how you connect with God. Finally, Char-Lee talks about why diet culture attracts so many Christian women. Diet culture as a whole is incredibly toxic and takes us away from our relationship with God. This is another reason why she advocates about intuitive eating as it’s more in line with Christian values. Have you participated in a spiritual fast before? How can you align your eating habits with your Christian values? Let me know in the comments on the episode page! Got a question you’d love to hear me answer on the show? Leave me a voice message here! In This Episode How intuitive eating rules fall flat without the Word Why intuitive eating is aligned with Christian values Where spiritual fasting intersects with intuitive eating Why you’re not in control of the outcome of the way you eat Why women are attracted to diet culture Quotes “Being attuned to the Holy Spirit is a huge part of being attuned to your body and being able to make decisions that honor your tastebuds, your preferences, and also your physical health.” (10:49) “I think that fasting is really important. But I don’t think that it has to be food. I think it can be food, though, even if you are an intuitive eater.” (24:19) “We try not to deny our hunger. We try to honor our hunger. I believe that God gave us hunger signals for a reason, he wants us to fuel ourselves to be able to do his work. But spiritual fasting is a biblical principle. It’s something that we’re called to do. I think if your heart is right and you’re removed from diet culture, I don’t see that there’s anything wrong with that as an intuitive eater.” (36:14) Links Find Char-Lee Cassel Online Follow Char-Lee Cassel on Instagram | Facebook | Twitter | Pinterest Book your Functional Nutrition Strategy Session with Me Find Fed and Fearless Online Got a question you’d love to hear me answer on the show? In this episode you will know that expectations are the cause of any and all disappointments that have come up, or will come up in your relationship. But this is not a problem at all once you know that it’s from the unexpressed or unknown expectations. You will always have expectations whether from the past that you are becoming aware of, or if you are growing and evolving as people and as a couple, there will always be new ones you discover. From this interview with Patrick and Carrie Antrim, you will have the way to uncover as well as express any and all disappointments (whether from the past or ones still to come as you grow together) with your partner. So that you will both feel understood, on the same page, connected, and ready to become the best partners you can be no matter what challenges arise! Questions asked in this interview: What are expectations you each now realize you had in the beginning of the relationship? Looking back, what was the impact of any of these unknown or unexpressed expectations? What are some basic needs and wants you have for the relationship? What are some aspirational needs and wants you have? Did you two talk about your needs and wants proactively or did you discover them over time from challenges coming up? What is the best way for you to share new expectations of your needs and wants with your partner that you are bound to have as you grow as an individual, a couple, and business partners? Quotes: “Being with someone that is ok with designing a life, verses living a life they are just reacting to.” - Patrick Antrim Connect More With Us: Follow us on Instagram ✅ Attend the LIVE Online Couples Workshop (right to your home)

With so much information out there about health and fitness, from coaches encouraging shame and “no pain, no gain” approaches to others telling you to ditch diet culture completely, it can be hard to feel comfortable with wanting to change your body while still loving yourself. HOW TO LOVE YOUR BODY WHILE CHANGING IT In this episode of Fed and Fearless, I’m offering an alternative to that either/or of diet and anti-diet culture. By employing these 9 tips, you can love your body while still achieving your health and fitness-related goals, without guilt. We need to learn to be kind to ourselves. Imagine if other people spoke to us the way our inner critic can? We absolutely wouldn’t put up with it from them, so why do we allow ourselves to be so mean? And while we’re breaking up with things, it’s time to ditch the obsession with your scale. I don’t mean you have to never weigh yourself again, but if you attach negative feelings or get upset by what the number is, maybe you shouldn’t be using the scale in your journey. You should curate your social media feed so that it’s not filled with images that make you feel ashamed or guilty. It also shouldn’t be an echo chamber of people who are never changing. Your social media feeds should inspire you and fill you with positivity. Embarking on a health and fitness goal isn’t always going to be easy. Learning to love the harder parts is all part of the journey - and I’m not talking about that “no pain, no gain” sentiment. And you should absolutely be grateful for what your body can do right now - you’re alive, right? In fact, I’d say that your health and fitness goals shouldn’t be the most important thing in your life. You should be honoring and prioritizing your values and hobbies above anything else. This helps you feel content about where you are now, even if you do have bigger health goals in mind. Finally, ditch the guilt from whoever or wherever it’s coming from about wanting to achieve your health goals. You deserve to focus on the goals that feel good to you! And that includes embracing the entire journey to get there… whether you actually make your goals or not. Which of these 9 tips is the most practical for you to start implementing? Which one are you the most excited about? Which tip has impacted you the most? Let me know in the comments on the episode page. Got a question you’d love to hear me answer on the show? Leave me a voice message here! In This Episode Why you need to be kind to ourselves and lose the negative self-talk What happens when you break up with your scale obsession How you can curate your social media feed to make you feel inspired and positive about yourself Why you should embrace the harder parts of making a change How you can cultivate gratitude for what your body can do right now What happens when you put your values and hobbies before your health and fitness goals How you can be content and appreciate today without abandoning your goals Why you should ditch the guilt surrounding your health and fitness goals How you can embrace who you’re becoming while pursuing your goals Quotes “Being kind to yourself is not only going to make you feel about your body and about who you are, but it’s also going to help you be more effective in reaching your goals and changing your body.” (8:28) “Failure is not something that is only happening to you. To be able to reach your health goal means that you have to be able to willing to embrace these failures.” (19:34) “Whatever your goal is when it comes to your health and your body, it’s nobody else’s business to tell you what your goal should be. When it comes to our journey of body liberation there can be some boundaries, including the processing of emotions. Jess Demasi is a certified eating psychology coach, the founder of Wholly Healed and is passionate about helping people redefine health without diet culture. Today Jess is here to encourage you to give yourself permission to define what it is to be a woman in this life for you and only you. Create A Radical Sense Of Awareness This episode is all about unpacking some of the stigmas and privileges that we can all unknowingly carry, and taking a step back without judgment but instead with curiosity to keep asking yourself the hard questions when it comes to your relationship with your body. Jess is on a mission to create a radical sense of awareness and help women unapologetically show up as who they are. Today is all about gaining skills to develop your own sense of liberation, whatever that may be for you, and removing judgment towards what you are feeling in a healthy way. You are more than just your body, and it is through the separation of your identity and your body that you can deal with what is really going on internally and heal yourself from the inside out. 12 Idea for Living in Gratitude Aloha Mamas! At this point in the podcast, you’ve heard me mention a few times that I feel moms & families are suffering from disconnect (on a lot of levels) but especially when it comes to gratitude. We have intellectual gratitude--(I mean, of course we’re grateful for our family!)—we think it, but what about actual gratitude? And by “actual” I mean action based. What actions have we taken lately to express our gratitude to loved ones? It’s this disconnect between intellectual and actual gratitude that I want to address because I sense that it’s one of the causes of unhappiness for many mamas. But I want to make sure that I’m not just talking about this observation of intellectual vs. actual. I want to give you easy to follow, actionable suggestions on how we can address this in our own lives. The “us” part…I want to be clear about that, too. I don’t have this whole intellectual vs. actual gratitude thing figured out 100% for myself and my own family. But I am aware of it. And awareness is step one. Step two is taking action. I want to move into step 2 alongside you by sharing ways that we can take action and express gratitude in our everyday lives more often, including what’s worked for me. And what better day to start than today… What can we do in our lives to make room for more gratitude? In this episode, we'll talk about it! Including mindset & actionable ideas! 1. Wake up & pray or meditate 2. Journal 3. Write a letter, card, or love note 4. Spend quality time with friends or family 5. Meditation 6. Read books about gratitude 7. Prepare a meal with love 8. Give thanks before you eat 9. Notice nature 10. Read nature poetry (hear me out on this one...) 11. Pay attention to information & images that are coming in 12. Say thank you more Notes & Quotes: “Being satisfied and grateful with what we already have is a magical golden key to being alive in a full, unrestricted, and inspired way.” -Pema Chodron "Appreciate everything, even the ordinary. Especially the ordinary.” -Pema Chodron “Thank you is the best prayer that anyone could say. I say that one a lot. Thank you expresses extreme gratitude, humility, understanding.” -Alice Walker “You simply will not be the same person two months from now after consciously giving thanks each day for the abundance that exists in your life. And you will have set in motion an ancient spiritual law: the more you have and are grateful for, the more will be given to you.” -Sarah Ban Breathnach Sing a Song of Seasons: A Nature Poem for Each Day of the Year (book) by Fiona Waters Follow us on IG & FB! Your business mentors don’t have to be someone you pay to work with privately. If you’re getting value out of someone’s podcast, blog posts, or other content, learning from them, and applying that advice to your own business, that person can definitely be considered your mentor. I was recently at a conference hosted by one of my business mentors who I have paid for group coaching with. The conference had close to 600 people there, but my mentor, James Wedmore, made time to connect with as many people as wanted one-on-one time with him. While at this event, I also had the honor of meeting a lot of the friends and connections I’ve made online in person. Let me tell you what a pleasure it was! I think meeting in person has brought a lot of value to our relationships. When I introduced myself to James, I told him I was planning on investing in his private mentorship (up until now, I’ve only been part of his group program). James told me that was great, and asked me when I was going to sign up. That’s one thing that I like about him: by setting yourself a deadline by when to do something, you give yourself more power to achieve it. James makes me believe in the power of showing up authentically and creating positive experiences for your audience. I don’t think he had to stick around his conference for as long as he did meeting and exchanging pleasantries with the attendees, but the fact that he did was so uplifting. I’ve gotten so much value out of James’ mentorship and also the private mentors I have in my life. I believe everyone should invest in mentorship in order to become their greatest selves. That’s the true power of a mentor: the ability to call you up, not out, to be your best. Do you have a mentor? Have you thought about joining a group program but don’t think you’ll get much out of it? How do you show up every day? Let me know in the comments on the episode page! In This Episode: What value there is in meeting your online friends in person Why you don’t have to pay for a private mentorship in order to learn from someone What happens when you say when you’re going to do something Why you should show up and create positive experiences for the people who follow you What the value of mentorship is How a mentor can call you up to be your greater self Quotes: “Being around other people that are working towards what you want, and also have accomplished what you want, is priceless when it comes to reaching the goals that you’ve set for yourself.” (11:41) “A great mentor shows you what’s possible because they’re walking the talk.” (31:02) “Mentors are there to show you what’s possible and tell you that you’re capable of doing this too, all you need to do is believe in yourself and take action despite the possible fear that could come up.” (34:37) Links James Wedmore Mind Your Business Podcast Check out the full episode post here Join the Fed and Fearless Society on Facebook Keep up with everything Fed And Fearless here Follow me on Facebook | Instagram | Twitter | Pinterest

This week on the Adorned Podcast we take a look at the beginning of Jesus’ ministry in Matthew 4:12-25. We know that Jesus didn’t need the disciples’ help, but in His kindness He invited them in. The Bible tells us that the disciples didn’t hesitate to follow Jesus, they just dropped their fishing nets and went “immediately.” Immediate obedience is hard, but it is a theme that we have already seen so much in the first 4 chapters of Matthew. How is God asking you to follow him in immediate obedience today? Quotes: “Being a disciple means having an open mind, an open heart, and being willing to be taught.” “Jesus didn’t need the disciple’s help, but He was willing to invite them in so they could be a part of what He was doing to expand the kingdom. What a gift.” “Caring for someone’s physical needs is hard, but it really is such an important part of sharing the gospel.” “We need more than the humble life of Christ, we also need need the victorious rule and ministry of Christ to overcome Satan’s schemes, to bring healing and restoration to the brokenness that sin produces, and provide reconciliation between God and man.” -Jeff Vanderstelt Resources: Inductive Study Guide The Village Church’s women’s Bible study on Matthew Gospel Fluency by Jeff Vanderstelt *The beautiful music heard on today’s episode is by Katie Cobbs*

She saw opportunities that her mother didn’t have, and wants to create possibility in others. Beth started challenging herself with solo travel and combined her love of riding a motorcycle with travel to show women it is possible to do that type of trip. One of Beth’s favorite things about international travel is the connection it creates between her and the people providing help and guidance. A few of Beth’s favorite countries are Bhutan, Papa New Guinea, and Australia. Travel provides an experience where we are stripped from our everyday life, and it opens us to be so much more in tune with the world around us. Beth did P90X to get in shape for her SnowMan Trek, which led her to train for a marathon. She is always busting limiting beliefs about her capabilities and stretching her own personal limitations. You've probably heard arguments incorporating evolutionary biology made to justify why we should be eating more of certain foods and less of others, but is that reasoning really legit in today's world? Hilda Labrada Gore has traveled the world researching various tribal diets and their wellbeing, and brings that knowledge to us today. About Hilda Labrada Gore After being inspired by Dr. Weston A. Price, Hilda followed in his footsteps and traveled to Kenya and Peru to work with native tribes and study their diets and wellbeing. Through this experience, she has found a passion for learning and spreading the news of traditional diets and the benefits of real food living. A fellow podcaster, Hilda focuses on promoting new ways to connect with the people around us by paying attention and truly listening. She believes that everyone has something that you can learn from, and with a genuine curiosity about who people are, you will discover new things about yourself, and others, in the process. By spending a little less time in the supermarket and a little more time in the farmers market, Hilda believes that we can cure our societies need for overeating, by eating nutrient-rich foods instead. By recognizing the power of real food and the importance of preserving the foods in which your ancestry came from, Hilda hopes to show others the power of exploring what other people around the world are eating. Have you experimented with any traditional diets? What were the results? Let me know in the comments on the episode page! On Today's Episode Tips for successful communication for both the introvert and the extrovert Tools and practices to listen more equally How Hilda got started on her own podcasting journey Getting back to a traditional diet even in our modern industrialized food supply chain Embracing diversity in what a healthy diet looks like Quotes “Being present and listening is a skill I have kind of developed along the way, and its actually bringing me much more joy than kind of my frenetic way of being before.” (7:57) “[Weston Price] found that the traditional peoples of the world were thriving on their real food diet, and when modernity crept in and some of their tribes started eating processed sugars and flour and refined oils and things like that, that literally, their health would start to deteriorate, their face shape would even change.” (19:52) “Everyone's got something they are supposed to bring to the world. And I don't think they should get hung up on the little technicalities because somebody else will have that in their lane if you will and they will be able to bring that and come alongside them on that point.” (31:02) “We are being bombarded by ‘eat this’ and ‘eat that’ and the pretty colorful packages in the supermarket. So find a way to shut that down. I feel like desire is created in us artificially by people who want us to become consumers only.” (39:19) “The most happy, satisfied people I met were the people who had their own land and were growing their own food.” (46:56) Resources Mentioned In This Show I'd love to see you in the Harder To Kill Club! In today’s episode, Rob digs in deeper on the topic of sexuality and sexual addiction in gay men. He discusses the different norms in gay vs. heterosexual communities, what determines an addictive or compulsive sexual behavior, and the specific challenges gay men have in building relationship intimacy. There are both many differences and similarities in how gay and straight men act out in addiction, and also specific knowledge therapists need to have when working with the gay population. TAKEAWAYS: [1:39] When Rob entered the field of work in the Sexual Addiction and Compulsion in the 90’s, we were dealing with the height of the HIV crisis. Many of the men that were behaving in unsafe or promiscuous ways were sex addicts, and there were not a lot of educated experts to help them. [3:33] Rob wrote the book Cruise Control in 2003, which is the first and only book of its kind. In 2013, he updated it to include the present-day landscape of certain drug use such as methamphetamines, social media and hook up apps, and marriage. [4:56] Gay men exist in different cultural expectancies and behavioral patterns than the heterosexual population. There is also a lack of cultural validation over time for long-term intimacy building. [5:31] Many gay men have grown up being encouraged to appear a certain way and hide or deny their sexuality. They are already accustomed to having a front-facing presentation to the world of who they really are not, which is also a what sex addicts possess. [6:22] Most gay men don’t get to date in high school and end up repressing their sexuality, so there is a delayed adolescence and they often explore sexuality, relationships and intimacy starting in their 20’s. [7:02] Unfortunately in the gay world, there aren’t a lot of role models for healthy long term dating and relationship building. Younger men often don’t get to see what a healthy gay coupleship looks like, because once gay men find their partners they typically leave the singles scenes and join the paired up community. [8:34] The tendency for males to want to dominate and lead may not produce the same type of synergistic male / female relationship that produces empathy, intimacy and compassion. If two men want to be together, they will have to learn these skills and work on their affiliation. On the other hand, lesbians usually need help with individuation in relationships, as they tend to enmesh quickly in the beginning. [9:54] If an individual is demeaned and devalued for their sexuality, it is natural for them to internalize and act out against it. [11:11] We don’t talk about HIV or AIDS very much anymore, even though we lost 350,000 people before we got medication. The cultural response is almost as if it didn’t happen, and that is something that gay men live with every day. [12:18] Men share common characteristics on how they view sexuality, relationships and intimacy. The traumas that drive straight men to act out sexually are the same ones in gay men. Men are visual by nature, and it’s not unusual for gay men to have body issues, food issues and stresses among their physical image. [13:58] Gay men act out in similar ways as straight men, whether it’s a hookup app, webcams, a club, or a one-night stand. Grindr has been helpful of taking gay men out of dark alleys and put them on the same dating and relationship ground as heterosexuals. [18:03] The #2 leading addiction problem in America after opioid addiction is ChemSex. It’s difficult to compartmentalize what pieces belong to the sex addiction, and what pieces belong to drug addiction. Recovery from meth and sex addiction is a long and challenging process. [20:34] In treating gay male sex addicts, it is imperative for the therapist to know the lingo and how gay men view sexual experiences, not pathologize, and know that they will most likely need to learn intimacy. They will need guidance on finding places, hobbies activities to go to where they can grow their community, receive peer support and build their skills without being sexual. The therapist must be open to many non typical therapy topics such as sex toys, threesomes and open relationships. [23:04] Many times gay men believe part of being gay is having many sexual partners and experiences. That may be the case, but doesn’t have to be true for someone that is relationship and commitment seeking. [24:55] In the healing process where heterosexual and gay men are both present, the men bond together as men, rather than necessarily around sexualization or homophobia. Full shownotes: http://yourcreativepush.com/abz In this episode, Abz discusses: -What he is attempting to create with his “imaginary world.” -How he was initially inspired by Rave Master and then later by his friend. -How you don’t need any authority figure to give you permission to create and share your creations. -How using an alias can potentially help bring confidence to people who are shy or afraid to share their work. -Pushing aside negative thoughts because it doesn’t matter what other people think – the only thing that matters is being true to yourself. -One of his earliest creative moments. -The notion of finding your own “dark hallway,” where it is just you shining a light on your creative focus. -His love for Pokemon and how Pokemon Go has helped to increase his following recently. -Self-doubt and laziness and how to combat each of them. -Attempting to post more work on a regular basis and drawing every single day and how that has positively changed his output and mindset. -How you are going to look back on your old work after a year or two and detect all of the mistakes anyway, so you might as well put it out there and move on to the next thing. -How our eyes are often a year or two ahead of our skills. -A recent difficult moment when he was demoralized, but how sometimes all it takes is encouragement from a friend or loved one to get you back on track. -One of his best creative moments, the first time someone wanted to buy his artwork. -The satisfaction that he gets from going to conventions and meeting the people that support his work. -The notion of chunking down your time into 45-50 minute intervals and focusing solely on one task. Abz's Final Push will inspire you to go to sleep at night feeling like you just had a meaningful day. Quotes: “Being anonymous seems to give you some sort of boost in confidence.” “It doesn’t really matter what other people think about it because at this point being authentic is my main priority.” “One of my major weaknesses is this sort of laziness that takes over when I’m a bit afraid to approach whatever it is that I’m trying to get done.” “Sometimes you have to create the trash to get to the gold.” “Our eyes are often a year or two ahead of our skills.
