IMPORTANT NOTE: Masters of VGM Season 2 starts June 1st, and is slated to kick off with Nerd Noise Radio C1E76: "The Big Sound of the Little Guy - vol. 2". To prime the pump of excitement for MoVGM in general, as well as to offer a "compare and contrast" between the incoming, much more polished and measured and matured (and much more well-produced) sequel, and this much more enthusiastic, revolutionary, optimistic, and "heart-ful" example of early, clunky-but-exuberant NNR magic, we are re-running the original ahead of time. I am eager to receive feedback on what everyone things of vol 1 vs vol 2. I think vol 2 is "better", but vol 1 is "more important". I also think vol 1 is more "joyful", even if more "awkward". But tell me what YOU think!! They also each contain exactly one track composed by......ME - in fact, in this original episode, it's even the opening track! Masters of VGM can be found at www.mastersofvgm.com as well as on Twitter and Discord, and perhaps also other places. NNR will be just one of some 20 or 30 different VGM podcasts. So, please check out the entire collection, and give the other great shows some love as well! :-) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Original Show Notes: Today's broadcast is Episode 30 for Theme Thursday, June 14, 2018. Feed will include Channels 1, 2, 3, and any future channels not yet planned. Feed will also include podcasts in high quality, stereo where applicable, and episodes will never expire off the feed. Therefore it is STRONGLY recommended that you subscribe to this Nerd Noise Radio feed and bypass all others. This one will contain all their content anyway. Option 2: If you're ONLY interested in Channel 1 ("Noise from the Hearts of Nerds") episodes, and not in any of the other content that is or will be offered by Nerd Noise Radio, there is a Channel 1-specific feed. But it's hosted on a free account, rather than an upgraded account like the "All Channels Feed" with lower quality sound (mono, I believe), a maximum 2hrs per month of content (so if the month's episodes run longer than that, they may need to be trimmed), and episodes expire off the feed forever after 90 days. It is STRONGLY recommended for most listeners to subscribe to the All-Channels feed instead. However, if you really are only interested in Channel 1 content, here's the RSS: http://www.buzzsprout.com/77944.rss Our episodes will also appear on our Nerd Noise Radio YouTube Channel - just search for Nerd Noise Radio, you'll find us! Here's today's episode: https://youtu.be/73kM8YsRUdU Additionally, there are YouTube Playlists you can follow, both an "All Channels" Feed (recommended), as well as channel-specific feeds. ^_^

Grit your teeth as you plow through innocent bystanders, hold up stores for insurance protection, and burn forests down with your flamethrower...it's your world in Shakedown Hawaii. The successor to Retro City Rampage had a lot to live up to, and thankfully it doesn't suffer from sequelitis, as it's one of the best indie games this year. Take on the role of an aging 1980's CEO, or his spoiled rotten to the core son, and even a hired mercenary to do the dirty work. All three are at your disposal here as you steal cars, burn down parking lots, and crush anything in your way: including pesky consumer rights! Take on the role of CEO as you figure out the best way to ruin customer's lives and make cash doing it. Despite the slimy premise, the game is tons of fun and backed by an incredible 80s synthwave soundtrack by Norrin Radd aka Matt Creamer. Matt takes us through the ups and downs he faced getting the official soundtrack released, and answers all the hard-hitting questions all while providing fantastic insight into his compositions.
This week we take another crack at recording episode 301! In the news we talk about a Nintendo Mini game from the 70s, League of Legends coming to phones and consoles, IGN’s top 100 games, Reggie’s spin of the Wii U, the new Gameboy from Analogue, and No More Heroes & Deadly Premonition creators collaborating for horror game. Kevin has been playing Resident Evil DS and Friday the 13th again. Scott finally tried Retro City Rampage and some Uncharted 4. You can find them here: Nerd Noise Radio Network - All Channels Podcast Feed Nerd Noise Radio - Channel 1 podcast Nerd Noise Radio is now available on Twitch as well! Episodes 21 and forward will be uploaded as they're released, with the backlog of earlier episodes to follow. Some exciting news this week in gaming. It turns out some folks who preordered the SNES Classic from Amazon still haven't received them, Retro City Rampage gets a physical deluxe version coming to the Switch, PlayStation CEO Andrew House steps down, and apparently MVC Infinite's budget was half the amount of Street Fighter V's DLC. How crazy is that?! Also, designer and programmer Charles Randal wrote a long missive last week stating that devs would be more candid if gamers weren't so toxic. We dissect his statement and what it means for gamers and devs alike in this weeks convo of the week and one of us managed to score a ticket to Comic Con. All that and more on episode 89 of Rated G for Gamers.

What if a video game system didn't need to connect to the internet for constant software and firmware updates? What if there was no hard drive, and the games were on cartridges? That might sound like a blast from the past, but it's what the aptly-named Retro VGS promises for the future. Sean and Vinnk welcome Mike Kennedy to talk about the Retro's evolution from a throwback 16-bit system to an infinitely configurable all-in-one platform for modern and vintage gaming. It's time to set zail for scouting the grand zee of video games, with your trusty zailors Zuan and Zalum. I really should have thought this intro through properly... On this episode... Intermission Music... Mogi Grumbles - Extractor - Fract OSC Soundtrack Bandcamp | Twitter We Played... Euan distracts himself from crippling fear while flying with Her Story and a selection of DS Lite games, as well as exploring alternative flooded London in Sunless Sea Calum throws himself into the new Final Fantasy XIV expansion, Heavensward, and talks about just how fanservice filled that game is. We both played the new Tales from the Borderlands, and continue to be impressed by just how well Telltale is handling that universe, and how impressive it is that they have made it laugh out loud funny. In News... Arkham Knight, the final Batman game from Rocksteady has appeared, and the PC version was all kinds of messed up, even to the point that it was pulled from Steam until they can properly fix it. Destiny had a bad few weeks PR wise, with a $20 collection of skins and emotes being the answer to crying baby fans, as well as exclusive content that is only accessible via cans of the hell drink that is Red Bull. Eurgh. This months Playstation Plus and Xbox Games With Gold titles got revealed. Former Senator Leland Yee, a big opponent of violent video games, has pleaded guilty to accepting bribes, extortion and providing smuggled weapons to the New Jersey mob. You couldn't make this up. Retro City Rampage is being ported to MS-DOS, with an incredible 4Mb RAM and 3.7Mb hard drive space requirements. Mojang are shutting down servers for their card strategy game Scrolls in July next year, and there will be no more updates. ... and much more! The team returns with another traditional episode this fortnight. James, Steven and Daniel all return to discuss the latest news and announcements, including the (finally) release of Retro City Rampage, the announcement of Cult County and all that juicy information that Nintendo finally let loose about Mario Kart 8.The team also covers more localised, Australia centric news - including the recently announced Electabuzz/Magmar Pokemon event, the Pink 2DS and it's Australian release date, as well as recent additions to Club Nintendo and the confirmation of the Pokemon VGC returning for another year. There's some bad news in there too, for good measure. The team does a bit of housekeeping and covers some games we previously missed, including the controversial Senran Kagura Burst and the fashionably late Retro City Rampage. Of course, James gets some sizeable discussion about Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney too.So that's it for another fortnight! Don't forget that our next proper in-depth critique episode is going to debut in the next fortnight, and we've got the competition winner to be announced in that episode too. Hello! What's more impressive than reviewing 5 video games in 1 Thur-Video-Games-Day episode!? Reviewing 6! They are: The Room, Doors & Rooms, Mega Man 9 Mega Man 10, Retro City Rampage, and Anomaly: War-zone Earth.
The band is back together for another exciting edition of Nerds Without Pants! This time, the Pantsless Ones talk about the people in the video game industry that inspire them, and why. Inspiration is the topic of the day, but before that, the guys catch up on what they’ve been up to. It’s a little light in the games department this week, as Rob’s been busy and Julian was laid up in bed. Patrick’s been busy, though, and he brings the games with Assassin’s Creed 3, NiGHTS, and Retro City Rampage. He’s also really digging PlayStation Plus, leading to a discussion about what Sony and Microsoft need to do to impress us in the online space next generation. Julian is neck deep into his Doctor Who obsession while also jumping down the Lost rabbit hole. Rob interviewed a film hero of his, Tommy Wiseau, and you should totally read his piece at Just Press Play. The guys brought three people from the game industry that inspire them , and they go around the room trading influences. If you’ve been following along you can probably guess a few of them, but some of the answers may surprise you. The show wraps up with a single non-gaming personality. Who inspires you? Let us know in the comments section, and come back in two weeks for another excellent episode of Nerds Without Pants. Featured Music: Vangelis- Chariots of Fire Spectre General- Nothin’s Gonna Stand In Our Way Chicago- You’re the Inspiration

On this weeks show we are joined by a listen of the show which brings the grand total of participates up to 5! What did we do with all this awesome in one room? Well we talked about some video games of course. Some of the topics include Anarchy Reigns, Bronies, Retro City Rampage, Day-Z, Far Cry 3, THQ selling of their games, The Walking Dead Survival Instinct and the ever present topic of violent video games We want to thank Evan for coming on this weeks show!
The boys discuss the modern take on retro classics, Retro City Rampage. Also, they talk about sending wisdom back to themselves from the future.

Besties! Those stunning changes you were expecting? Yeah...sorry...you'll have to wait on those. The Besties are back, in pretty much the form you remember them in. But the changes! They're coming! We swear! And no, the changes don't involve us stopping the podcast. Sorry to disappoint! Time for the second music episode of the year and it isn't the Super Nintendo one I promised, sorry! I intended on releasing that one but after hearing the entire episode out, I quickly realized it didn't really have much to it since I used pretty much all those songs on previous Critical Music or Critical Strike episodes over the years. We'll see about a possible release but for now I hope you all enjoy this one! Music in this episode: Trash80, Zone of the Enders, inFAMOUS 2, Journey, Hard Reset, Everyday Shooter, Chaos Rings, Fatboy Roberts (Geek Remixed), Gravity Daze, Prototype 2, Castle Crashers, Select Start, Saints Row The Third, Retro City Rampage, Sim City 4 You can reach us at cstrikepodcast@gmail.com, leave a voicemail at (909) 278-7453 or Twitter at criticalstrike
