How To Bridge The Gap From Problem To Solution In Your Messaging

    The New Generation Entrepreneur Podcast

Play Episode Listen Later Aug 4, 2026 14:28

When I started teaching this four years ago, I'd ask people, "Is your messaging off?" and get blank stares. Nobody knew what messaging even was. They just knew their content wasn't working. So I changed one thing. I started saying: "Is your content filled with great information, but you're not seeing the sales or engagement? There's a reason." Same solution. Completely different response. Because that version met people where they actually were. That's a bridge. The connection that carries someone from their unwanted experience to wanting what you sell. And most entrepreneurs skip it entirely, then wonder why great copy converts like cold oatmeal. Today on the podcast, I'm walking you through how to build one, straight from our NGM Live event stage. Listen in and discover: What "awareness level" really means and why ignoring it kills your ads The exact 5-step bridge you can drop into emails, ads, webinars, and content Why naming the mistake before the solution is what creates the "oh my God, that's me" moment The TED talk vs. encyclopedia distinction that reframes your entire approach Why I never teach anything until the gap is bridged and neither should you If your cost per lead is climbing or your launches are landing softer than they used to, this is the fix. Listen in now, and stick around; parts two and three are live bridge builds you can steal from. Did you enjoy this episode? I'd love it if you'd share it on Instagram and tag me @iambrandonlucero! In this episode of Learning for Good, I sit down with nonprofit leader Melody Lam to explore how she built a coaching culture by training first-time managers to coach.Coaching sounds like the obvious solution when new managers struggle to have hard conversations with their teams, but it often gets treated as a perk reserved for executives, and the cost of outside coaches can make the whole idea feel out of reach. Melody's experience shows that coaching does not have to start big or expensive, it can start with a simple model, a willing pilot group, and two minutes of practice at a time.▶️ When to Choose Coaching as Your Leadership Development Solution with Melody Lam▶️ Key Points:00:00:00 Why Nonprofits Need Coaches, Not Just Training00:03:50 Melody's Path into Nonprofit Leadership Development00:07:39 The Benefits of Coaching Across Organizations00:11:45 Building Emotional Buy-In for Coaching00:14:39 Making Coaching Accessible with a Limited Budget00:19:13 Piloting and Scaling Coaching Across the Organization00:21:01 Coaching Results: From Technical Skills to Coaching Culture00:23:42 Where to Start with Coaching (Even with Limited Time or Budget)Resources from this episode:E175: How One Nonprofit Used Habit Stacking to Improve Feedback Skills with Amy GloverThe Extraordinary Coach: How the Best Leaders Help Others Grow by John Zenger and Kathleen StinnettJoin us for our next Nonprofit L&D Collective networking event on August 19: https://www.skillmastersmarket.com/join-the-nonprofit-learning-and-development-collective Join the Nonprofit Learning and Development Collective: https://www.skillmastersmarket.com/nonprofit-learning-and-development-collectiveConnect with MelodyLinkedIn: Melody L.Connect with HeatherLinkedIn: Heather BurrightWebsite: skillmastersmarket.comBook an interest call with Heather here.⭐Was this episode helpful? After sharing how recent heat stress caused an average milk loss of four pounds per cow in his herd, Brad turns his attention to lameness and footbath management. He examines a study of approximately 250 Canadian dairy farms to explore how footbaths are being used, where management gaps exist, and what the future of hoof-health programs may look like. Most farms sent lactating cows through a footbath one or two times per week, commonly after milking. Copper sulfate was the most widely used product, but Brad discusses its potential to accumulate in soil and affect crop production. He also addresses the health risks associated with formaldehyde and copper sulfate, noting that fewer than half of the surveyed farms reported using personal protective equipment while preparing footbath solutions.Solution management is another important concern. As manure and other organic matter accumulate, footbath products become less effective—often after 150 to 300 cow passages. Keeping a solution too long may mean that cows passing through later receive much less protection. The study also identified major gaps among nonlactating animals: 69% of dry cows and 82% of heifers never passed through a footbath. Because hoof problems in heifers can negatively affect first-lactation milk production and reproduction, farms may need to consider hoof health across the animal's entire life cycle.Brad concludes by discussing how automated footbaths could improve consistency, shorten solution-retention times, and reduce labor. The key is developing a farm-specific protocol that accounts for cow flow, herd size, chemical safety, solution replacement, and hoof-health challenges across every group of animals.Questions, comments, scathing rebuttals? -> themoosroom@umn.edu or call 612-624-3610 and leave us a message!Linkedin -> The Moos RoomTwitter -> @UMNmoosroom and @UMNFarmSafetyFacebook -> @UMNDairyYouTube -> UMN Beef and Dairy and UMN Farm Safety and HealthInstagram -> @UMNWCROCDairyExtension WebsiteAgriAmerica Podcast Directory

Control is an ILLUSION. Control is a GOD category, not a HUMAN one. The more we try to CONTROL, the more CHAOS we create.Galatians 5:22–23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,   gentleness and self-control.Genesis 3:1 Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden'?”Genesis 3:2–3 The woman said, “We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, but God did say, ‘You must not eat fruit from the tree in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.'”Genesis 3:4–5 “You will not certainly die,” the serpent said. “For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”Genesis 3:6 When the woman saw that the fruit was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it.Genesis 3:7–10 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves. Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the Lord God among the trees of the garden. But the Lord God called to the man, “Where are you?” He answered, “I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid.”Three Reasons We Reach For Control1.  Control is rooted in DOUBTING God's GOODNESS.What you try to control MOST reveals where you trust God the LEAST.2.  Control is driven by our DESIRE for AUTONOMY.Jeremiah 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?We are at our freest not when we're in CHARGE, but when we give God CONTROL.3.  Control fuels FEAR and ANXIETY.Control CREATES anxiety.  Peace comes when I stop PLAYING God and start TRUSTING God.Control is an ILLUSION. Surrender is the SOLUTION.If you don't NAME it, you can't TAME it.

Main Theme: Learning to hear God's voice is the solution to countless problems and the key to discovering God's purpose. Big Idea: God promises to guide those who seek Him: "This is the way; walk in it." (Isaiah 30:21) How God Speaks: Through His Word Through the Holy Spirit's impressions Through spiritual leadership Through godly counsel Through seasons of pain and refinement Personal Testimony: Pastor Richard shares how God led him to plant Victory Church and how that calling was confirmed through prayer, wise counsel, and spiritual leadership. Powerful Truth: Counterfeits don't invalidate the genuine. Misuses of "God told me" should never keep us from seeking God's authentic voice. Pain Has Purpose: God doesn't delight in our suffering, but He can use it to redirect, refine, and mature us. Biblical Examples: Jacob, Joseph, Job, Moses, and David all experienced painful seasons that prepared them for God's greater plan. Key Promise: God doesn't leave us in the fire—He brings us through it into "rich fulfillment" (Psalm 66:12). Takeaway: The sooner we listen to God's Word, His Spirit, and godly counsel, the less often He needs to use painful circumstances to get our attention. Memorable Quotes "Learning to hear the voice of God is the solution to a thousand problems." "When you know that you know that you know God has spoken, it gives you confidence, conviction, and staying power." "God loves you just the way you are, but He loves you too much to leave you that way." "Pain isn't God's first choice, but He can use it to accomplish His greatest work in us." "God is not bringing you through the fire to destroy you—He's bringing you out to rich fulfillment."

From discovering toxic products in the nutrition industry to helping bring clean water to hundreds of thousands of children, Darin reveals how shifting from complaint to contribution has shaped every major chapter of his life. He also shares practical principles for cultivating optimism, surrounding yourself with solution-oriented people, taking radical responsibility, and building a life fueled by possibility instead of fear. Every challenge is an invitation, every obstacle contains a solution, and every one of us has the ability to help create a world that works."   5 Building Blocks: The SuperLife Vision This episode touches five pillars that could each become their own future episode. Treating them as a recurring framework gives the show a spine, andgives you a running "vision doc" you can build on episode by episode.   1. Optimism as a Discipline, Not a Disposition The core reframe: optimism isn't naivety, it's where you choose to point your energy. Future episode: the difference between denial and constructive optimism. 2. The Individual Work — Awareness, Freedom, Connection You flagged this yourself as "more on that another time." This is likely your richest solo-episode territory: what it actually means to learn from pain, become more aware, more free, more connected to your contribution. Could be a 3–4 partarc on its own. 3. The People You Cultivate Your stated "greatest asset." A strong recurring segment could be short profiles — 2–3 minutes each — of specific people in your orbit and the solutions they're building. Turns an abstract claim ("I'm surrounded by great people") into proof, episode after episode. 4. Possibility Thinking / "What Else Is Possible?" The engine of the whole philosophy. Future episode: a practical walkthrough of how you actually run this question against a real problem, step by step, so listeners can use it themselves. 5. Daily Practices Your list of eleven. This is a natural standalone episode ("The 11 Things I Do Every Day to Stay Optimistic"), each one expanded with a real story, rather than compressed into one segment of a broader episode.

Uncle Si lets slip the very Si-like thing he says whenever he catches his reflection in the mirror. Jase, Al, and Gordon happily promote Si to elder statesman of the Robertson clan while they trace James' warning about gossip, slander, bitterness, and the unruly tongue. Gordon recalls the church hurt that consumed him until the Lord's Prayer forced him to reconsider forgiveness and the way he viewed the man who wounded him. The guys discover how remembering that every person bears God's image can transform relationships, unite unlikely people in Jesus, and replace the fear of death with real freedom. When organizations or platforms encounter a quality crisis or an onslaught of unpopular noise, the default response is to rush toward compliance, policing, and labeling. However, wrapping an algorithmic guess in a false sense of mathematical certainty doesn't fix a quality problem. It creates an illusion of control while breeding paranoia and driving bad behavior underground.  This week, I unpack Substack's recent partnership with Pangram Labs to combat what they're calling "Claudefishing." As an avid Substack user watching this play out, I recognize how closely this mirrors the exact same trap happening inside corporate C-suites and higher education institutions. Burned-out leaders facing an onslaught of low-effort "AI slop" are reaching for algorithmic surveillance tools as an easy button. However, trying to judge the merit of work by auditing its inputs is like looking at someone's shopping list to decide whether or not they're a good cook.  My goal this week is to help you resist the compliance reflex and implement a sustainable, human-centric approach to quality and accountability:  Exposing the Illusion of Objective Labels: A percentage score like "AI-generated" sounds like a cold, scientific measurement, but it is actually a statistical guess wrapped in mathematical security. By forcing creators and employees to cater to arbitrary compliance badges, we strip away human agency, punish structured thinkers, and completely abandon the conversation about actual quality and merit.  Escaping the Algorithmic Surveillance Trap: Reaching for digital hall monitors fails to address the underlying pressure cooker of leadership burnout. Surveillance doesn't stop workslop. It simply pushes bad behavior underground while forcing your best performers to waste energy proving their innocence rather than driving real impact.  Anchoring on Observable, Measurable Outcomes: You cannot hold people accountable for an outcome if you strip away their agency over how they think and execute. Rather than auditing how the kitchen operates or policing tools, leaders must shift their focus toward clear, observable standards. If you haven't clearly defined what success looks like, it isn't just AI that's struggling. Your people are, too.  By the end, my hope is that you'll resist the urge to pick sides in a divisive "human vs. bot" tribal war or slap meaningless red letters on your team. Sustainable leadership in the AI age isn't about building a better digital prison; it's about rebuilding trust, asking curious process questions, and elevating standards for observable outcomes.  —If this conversation was helpful, make sure to like, share, subscribe, or buy me a coffee at https://buymeacoffee.com/christopherlindAnd if you'd benefit from help balancing performance, technology, and people, check out my website at https://christopherlind.co—Chapters00:00 – The Claudefishing Impulse: Rushing to Compliance and False Objectivity  04:15 – The Shopping List Fallacy: Why AI Detectors Miss the Quality Conversation  08:10 – The Leadership Pressure Cooker: Why We Reach for the "Easy Button"  12:30 – Stripping Human Agency: How Algorithmic Hall Monitors Backfire  17:45 – The Four-Part Playbook: Sustainable Moves for Outcome-Driven Leadership  25:30 – Leading with Curiosity: Asking Questions Before Jumping to Conclusions  31:10 – Conclusion: Rebuilding Trust Over Digital Prisons  #Leadership #AIStrategy #FutureFocused #WorkforceTransformation #OrganizationalTrust

Pavel Samsonov - AI Can Build the Solution... You Still Have to Design the Problem

    One Knight in Product

Play Episode Listen Later Jul 25, 2026 69:03

On this episode, I speak to Pavel Samsonov, Principal UX Designer at Justworks and author of The Product Picnic newsletter. Pavel has spent his career working across UX, service design and product management, including roles at Amazon and Bloomberg, helping organisations design better products by understanding the systems, processes and people behind them. We explore why great products start with better problem definition, how organisational silos undermine customer experience, why AI is making it easier to build the wrong things faster, and why genuine user understanding remains a uniquely human advantage. Episode Highlights Design for understanding, not simplicity - Complex B2B products don't need to hide complexity; they need to present it in a way that users can understand, navigate and act upon confidently. Customer journeys don't follow organisational charts - Teams optimise their own domains, but customers experience the whole service. The biggest opportunities often lie in fixing the gaps between teams rather than improving individual features. Problem design matters more than solution design - Before discussing features or interfaces, ask whether you're solving the right problem, why it exists, and whether it's important enough for customers to actually care. Actionable beats visible - Dashboards, analytics and metrics only create value when they help someone make a better decision. Data without action is little more than decoration. Optimising your work can create someone else's workload - Shipping work isn't the same as completing work. Teams should think about who consumes their outputs and whether they're genuinely fit for purpose. AI accelerates production, not learning - AI makes it dramatically faster to generate prototypes and features, but it doesn't shorten the time required to validate ideas, learn from customers or understand real-world usage. High-fidelity prototypes can create false confidence - Just because AI can generate something that looks finished doesn't mean the difficult work of alignment, prioritisation, research and iteration has been done. Synthetic users aren't a substitute for real customers - Large language models can reproduce existing knowledge but can't uncover the tacit insights, unmet needs and market opportunities that come from talking to real people. Good product decisions require shared language - Cross-functional collaboration improves when teams focus on the decisions they're trying to make rather than debating ambiguous labels like "prototype", "MVP" or "research". Ask better questions before building faster - AI has made building dramatically cheaper, increasing the importance of asking why something should exist in the first place. Better problem framing remains one of the highest-leverage skills in product development. Did you know that when you pick up avocados at the supermarket, make avocado toast at home or order guacamole in your burrito, you're probably consuming only one genetic type of avocado? Yep, it's the Hass avocado. Since it originated in California in the 20th century, it's been grafted onto trees worldwide. And today, it makes up more than 80 percent of commercial avocado production. Its bounty is a double-edged sword: It makes our avocados consistent; it also makes them susceptible to threats like new diseases and climate problems. In other words, we're putting all of our eggs – er, avocados – in one basket. This episode, we get the inside scoop on new research that could help shore up the avocado's chances at a long, more genetically diverse future. And now you have this small community raising your child,” David shared in today's episode. The movement aims to replace public education's “factory model,” which David describes as a system designed to batch-process students: “The system isn't broken; it's doing what it was built for.” However, some 75% of high school students today dislike their schools—a statistic that highlights the need for an alternative approach.Changemaker Education supports teachers and community leaders in launching micro schools by providing business tools, coaching, and resources. David summarized the goal: “We provide you with the business infrastructure, the marketing, the budget—all the things you need—so you can focus on your magic as an educator.” This affiliate-based framework allows schools to maintain local autonomy while tapping into a national network for resources and scalability.A powerful factor helping the micro school movement grow is the rise of state voucher programs. In 24 states, families can use education savings accounts to fund alternative schooling options, including micro schools. “In Texas, for example, the state will write you a check for $10,000,” David noted. This funding empowers educators to create transformational learning environments while keeping costs low for families.Changemaker Education is scaling rapidly, with 25 affiliated schools across 18 states and ambitious plans for growth. To accelerate their impact, the company is raising capital through a regulated crowdfunding campaign on Wefunder. The opportunity to invest in Changemaker Education isn't just about potential financial returns. It's about joining a movement that's rewriting the narrative of education in America and beyond. As David said, “Look what happens when you create a system where kids are loved, and adults are empowered.”tl;dr:Micro schools offer a revolutionary solution for students unhappy with traditional education systems.Changemaker Education provides tools and support for teachers and leaders to start micro schools.State voucher programs empower families to fund alternative educational options like micro schools.David's superpower, seeing the light in others, led him to empower educators like Mary Jo Fairhead.Changemaker Education's crowdfunding campaign on Wefunder fuels their mission and rapid growth. How to Develop Seeing the Light in Others As a SuperpowerDavid describes his superpower as the ability to see the gifts, strengths, and potential in others. “My superpower is seeing the gifts and the light in others.” By recognizing individuals' hidden talents and unique traits, David has helped educators and students identify their paths to success. He insists that this skill stems from cultivating self-awareness and self-love: “Once you start to see the gifts in yourself and truly love yourself…you can see the gifts that everybody has.”David shared the transformative story of Mary Jo Fairhead from South Dakota's poverty-stricken Pine Ridge Reservation. As David coached her, he uncovered her dream to start a school, helping her channel her passion into creating a successful micro school. Mary Jo's school has won prestigious funding and dramatically improved her community. “I could see there was something missing in her fulfillment. When she said she wanted to start a school, I knew we had to make it happen,” David explained.Actionable Tips to Develop This Superpower:Reflect on your own strengths, gifts, and accomplishments to cultivate self-awareness.Replace judgment with curiosity when interacting with others.Ask open-ended, meaningful questions to understand others' passions and aspirations.Practice empathetic listening to uncover hidden potential in those around you.Create opportunities or provide guidance that empowers others to act on their strengths.By following David's example and advice, you can make seeing the light in others a skill. With practice and effort, you could make it a superpower that enables you to do more good in the world.Remember, however, that research into success suggests that building on your own superpowers is more important than creating new ones or overcoming weaknesses. Aurélia Nguyen, Dep. CEO of CEPI (Coalition of Epidemic Preparedness Innovations) shares her unusual personal and career story, including working with Andrew Witty at GSK, and with Seth Berkley at GAVI during Ebola in West Africa 2014-2015 and later during the COVID-19 pandemic when she managed the COVAX facility. "It was incredibly difficult." CEPI's 3.0 strategy focuses on viral families; technologies and platforms; and networks to rapidly conduct clinical trials and begin manufacturing. CEPI swung rapidly into action with the advent of the Bundibugyo Ebola outbreak in Ituri, DRC. It struck a promising $50 million partnership with the Department of State in support of its work to accelerate development of four vaccine candidates. Clinical trials are beginning and will advance in the fall in the hot zone in eastern DRC. Mistrust and insecurity require intensive community engagement. Even with US and EU support, CEPI still strives to fill an estimated $130 million gap over the next 6-9 months. Her biggest worry? Cases have doubled in just 23 days. We are not yet able to gauge the true scale of the outbreak.

Episode #227 of the PricePlow Podcast takes us back to the NNB Nutrition booth at IFT First 2026 in Chicago, where Shawn Wells sat down with Mike and Ben for the first of two conversations recorded on-site. This one skips the usual business updates (that’s what part two, with Dustin Elliott and Jake Mulder, covers) and goes straight for the theoretical side of things: where Wells thinks the next several years of supplement innovation are headed, and the problems NNB’s science team wants solved before anyone else notices they exist. Shawn Wells’ Working Theories, and Where NNB Nutrition Takes Them Wells has built a working framework around what he calls “GLP-1 Drag”, three linked theories covering muscle loss, mitochondrial fatigue, and dopamine flattening in people using GLP-1 medications. From there, the conversation covers precision fermentation’s takeover of the herbal extract market, a buccal pouch platform built around fast-absorbing nootropics and stimulants, and an unplanned detour into flush niacin and nicotine pouches. Clara was born without a vertebra and lived with chronic back pain for 41 years, throwing her back out three or four times a year and relying on chiropractors and heavy doses of ibuprofen just to function. In this episode, Pastor Bill joins Lance Wallnau to share how one stem cell therapy changed everything, and how the same therapy also reversed his own macular degeneration and helped a dialysis patient rebuild his kidneys. Hey Clutterbugs! Struggling to declutter your home? The co-founder of a $300M clutter removal company who's cleared out 100,000+ homes reveals the #1 mistake people make, and it's one I made 20 years ago. If you've been decluttering slowly for months (or years) and still feel stuck, this episode will change everything. After helping hundreds of thousands of families let go of their clutter over the past 20 years, Nick Friedman (co-founder of College HUNKS Hauling Junk & Moving) has seen it all, from overflowing garages to full-blown hoarding situations. He was the very first entrepreneur ever featured on Shark Tank, appeared on Undercover Boss, and built a national brand from a borrowed cargo van in college. But more importantly? He's witnessed the exact moment people finally decide to let go . . . and what happens when they do. I spent an entire year of my life decluttering my own home, and I still wish I'd called a dumpster and changed my life on day one. Nick backs this up with insights from the field, explaining why the "rip off the band-aid” approach can work better for some people than slow, painful purging.
