On today's Capital Record, David looks at the issue of housing affordability and walks through Rahm Emanuel's new op-ed in the Washington Post whereby a confused explanation of the financial crisis is given, and even more confused solutions are offered to a problem Rahm mostly identifies correctly. Few subjects in the American economy touch more people than housing, and if housing has become unaffordable for too many, the one thing we really cannot afford is to get this subject wrong.Show notes:What's Really Depressing America's Young Men

In this episode of the PDB Afternoon Bulletin, Mike Baker examines the history behind the two-state idea, from the original 1947 UN partition plan to Israel's withdrawal from Gaza in 2005. We look at how Gaza's experiment with autonomy under Hamas turned into a launchpad for violence, the deep divisions in Palestinian leadership, and why recognition without security guarantees risks making peace harder, not easier. To listen to the show ad-free, become a premium member of The President's Daily Brief by visiting PDBPremium.com.Please remember to subscribe if you enjoyed this episode of The President's Daily Brief.YouTube: youtube.com/@presidentsdailybriefTriTails Premium Beef: Visit https://trybeef.com/PDB & get a Free 8oz Choice Filet on orders $349+Birch Gold: Text PDB to 989898 and get your free info kit on gold Learn more about your ad choices. Jim Geraghty is back! Join Jim and Greg on today's 3 Martini Lunch as they break down the collapse of a government-funded grocery store in Kansas City, the global rush to wrongly blame Israel for Gaza's food crisis, and a proven solution to Washington, D.C.'s violent crime problem.First, they chronicle the closing of a Kansas City grocery store that received $18 million in local government funding overits seven-year existence. Empty shelves, poor maintenance, and a dangerous neighborhood were constant problems. And New York City voters would wise to learn now that government-run grocery stories do not work.Next, they dig into the widespread condemnation of Israel over Gaza's hunger crisis. Leftists like Sen. Bernie Sanders say this is 100 percent Israel's fault and Hamas deserves no blame. Jim and Greg explain how Hamas is very much to blame and Jim also points out how the media have no interest in far worse famines in other parts of the world. Finally, they react to the Washington, D.C. police chief's surprising unfamiliarity with the concept of a chain of command. As for Trump's recent actions, Jim hopes they improve the quality of life in the nation's capital, but he does not see them as a permanent solution. He says there is a proven method to drastically reducing violent crime, but we need city officials who actually want to do it.Please visit our great sponsors:Sleep on an award-winning mattress from Brooklyn Bedding. In their return to the airwaves, BT and Sal wasted no time in diagnosing the perpetual problems facing both New York teams. The Yankees' win, while welcomed, was dismissed as a "bald-faced lie" that does nothing to fix the team's underlying flaws, like relying on analytics over instinct and a manager who is a "puppet." Sal, ever the optimist, held out hope that the Mets, despite losing 11 of 12, are on the cusp of a turnaround, with an aggressive Steve Cohen ready to lead them out of their funk. The duo's reunion was punctuated by a fiery debate on the lack of accountability, the need for new voices in the front offices, and the core issues plaguing both franchises, all while acknowledging the joy of being back on air together.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0dQszSMliVA Alan Skorski had the opportunity to interview the foremost expert on Islamism and the Arab world, Dr. Mordechai Kedar. Dr. Kedar also served for 25 years in the IDF Military Intelligence Unit specializing in Syria, Arab political discourse, Arab mass media, Islamic groups, and Israeli Arabs. As someone who is fluent in Arabic, Dr. Kedar is often invited onto Arab and Muslim news programs to give his perspective on the news of the day, especially during times of war and conflict. 30 years ago, Dr. Kedar proposed the “8-state” solution to address the Israeli conflict with those Arabs identifying as Palestinian, having recognized what most of the world refused to, that there can never be and will never be a “2 -State solution” with any faction or offshoot of the PLO or Fatah. In the interview, Skorski reminded the audience that we are coming up on 700 days since the Hamas Muslim Brotherhood slaughtered over 1200 Israeli citizens and kidnapped over 250 innocent hostages on October 7, 2023. Since then, the IDF has surgically crushed the infrastructures in Gaza, Lebanon, and Iran. The media and so-called “humanitarian groups,” have focused all their attention on Gaza, accusing Israel of war crimes and genocide for allegedly withholding food from Gaza's civilians. In response, the morally bankrupt leaders in Europe, led by France and Britain, and followed by Canada, have threatened to recognize “Palestine” as some sort of punishment against Israel. These leaders claim that only a “2-state” solution will lead to peace and security. Never mind that the Palestinian Authority has rejected every offer made to them, and that Gaza was an independent state, NO PALESTINIAN leader is even calling for “2 states.” From the River to the Sea, opposes 2 states. There is only solution, intifada Revolution rejects 2 states. YET, Europe, western media, and many Democrats in America are calling for a “Palestine” that Palestinians don't want. In early July, the Wall Street Journal reported that Sheikh Wadee' al-Jaabari and four other prominent clan leaders from Hebron had signed a letter pledging peace and full recognition of Israel as a Jewish state. Their plan: Hebron would secede from the Palestinian Authority, establish an independent emirate, and join the Abraham Accords. With this news report, Dr. Kedar's 30 year-old prophecy resurfaced with renewed interest for his “8-state” solution, which would cut out the Palestinian terrorist leadership, and replace them with Arab tribal leaders to rule over themselves in designated Arab-run territories. Dr. Kedar cited Countries where clans have their own separate autonomy are more successful. We see this in countries such as Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Kuwait, that have economic stability, safety, law, and order. These countries, by no coincidence, are run by clans: al-Sabah (Kuwait), al-Thani (Qatar), al-Nahayan (Abu Dhabi), al-Saud (Saudi Arabia), al-Hashem (Jordan), and so on. Compare these to the Arab countries where the clans are in disarray, such as Syria, Libya, Lebanon, Iraq, and Iran. Dr. Kedar is the Vice President of a recently launched App, News-Rael that gives up to the minute accurate news items about Israel and the Middle East. Alan Skorski Reports 11AUG2025 - PODCAST

Scientists tracked 829 people for 20 years and discovered that one “embarrassingly named” nutrient, Spermidine, reduced death rates by nearly 40%. This polyamine doesn't just slow aging, it literally stabilises your DNA and activates cellular repair pathways that tell your cells when to grow, heal, and clean house. You can get therapeutic levels from shitake mushrooms, wheat germ, or fermented foods like kimchi, basically turning your dinner plate into an anti-aging protocol. When I think of founder stories that move me to my core, Octavia Morgan's journey is right at the top. In this episode, I sit down with Octavia Morgan, CEO and Creative Director of Octavia Morgan, to discuss building a fine fragrance brand rooted in intention, courage, and community. From her early mornings in meditation to the emotional moment a customer cried after finally finding a scent she could wear, this is a conversation about listening to your calling, even when it's scary. Octavia left a stable nursing career to create a fragrance brand for people like her—those with scent sensitivities who still wanted complexity, boldness, and beauty in what they wear. She shares how she took her brand “to the streets,” grew through word of mouth, and developed a fragrance line that's now carried by Ulta Beauty nationwide. This isn't just about perfume—it's about purpose. Here are a few highlights from the interview: * The meditation that sparked Octavia's leap from nursing to entrepreneurship—and the fear she had to face head-on. * How a tearful customer showed her the deep emotional impact her product could have. * Why Octavia sells $100+ fine fragrances at upscale markets—and how it built a grassroots community of superfans. * The real reason so many people suffer from scent sensitivity, and how her clean, filler-free formulations are changing that. * Her powerful advice for anyone with a dream they're too scared to pursue: “Why not you?” Join me, Ramon Vela, as I listen to the episode and discover the story of a founder who's redefining what it means to follow your intuition and create beauty with integrity. You'll walk away inspired and probably wanting to smell every scent she's ever made. For your season 6 bonus episode, Chelsea and Madison have dusted off their English degrees and learned how to read (again) to discuss Allison Raskin's debut novel, Save the Date. After Emma's fiancé unexpectedly calls off the engagement, months before the wedding, Emma is left high and dry with a stack of non-refundable wedding deposits. Solution? Save her wedding date and find a new groom! This is certainly not your average rom-com and Madison and Chelsea discuss how it defies tropes and expectations, while still ticking all of the necessary genre boxes. General consensus on the book? It should be made into a movie and Emma's parents must be played by Mandy Patinkin and Kathryn Grody.Digressions include the oppressive heat, Chelsea's weird foot tan line, and so much more.Connect With UsFollow us on Instagram @loveatfirstscreening or send an email to loveatfirstscreening@gmail.comProduction Hosts: Chelsea Ciccone and Madison HillMusic: Good StephArtwork: Chelsea CicconeSocial Media: Marissa CicconeAbout the ShowAn examination of classic tropes and iconic characters pits connoisseur against cynic—one romantic comedy at a time. The cinematic world of love and laughter had rom-com enthusiast Madison head over heels from the time Harry met Sally. For genre skeptic Chelsea, however, it's been a grueling enemies-to-lovers plot. In Love at First Screening, Madison introduces Chelsea to all the fan-favorite love stories she's never wanted to watch. One friend's passion might be the other's displeasure, but doesn't love conquer all? Tune in every Wednesday to find out.

Today's episode is all about you—what you want and need in your life and in your relationships. Whether it's with a romantic partner, a friend, a coworker, or a family member, you are constantly navigating wants, needs, and boundaries. But how do you even know what you want—let alone ask for it without guilt, fear, or discomfort? That's exactly what we're going to explore together. If you've ever struggled with people-pleasing, over-accommodating, or avoiding conflict, this episode will be deeply liberating. Dr. Aziz shares personal stories—from relationship challenges to parenting decisions—to reveal how easy it is to lose ourselves in the name of being “nice.” He breaks down the roots of this pattern and teaches you how to reconnect with your desires, give yourself permission to express them, and advocate for what truly matters to you. You'll also learn the MVP question that changes everything: What do I want? When you start asking this regularly, your confidence, clarity, and sense of freedom will grow. This episode is your invitation to step out of niceness and into a more powerful, authentic version of you.--------------------------------------------------------------------------- Have you ever found yourself bending over backwards in relationships, doing everything for others, and yet feeling like you're not getting what you need? Whether it's with a romantic partner, a friend, or even at work, the challenge of asking for what you want is something we all face. But here's the truth: without skillfully advocating for yourself, you'll continue to miss out on the connection, respect, and fulfillment you deserve. In this blog post, we're going to dive into how to understand what you truly want in relationships, why it's often so hard to ask for it, and how to start changing that dynamic today. What Do You Really Want? In every relationship, there are things you want and things you need. This could be in a romantic relationship, with your family, or in your work life. We all have desires—things we want to feel seen, heard, and valued. But often, due to fear of being “too demanding” or not wanting to burden others, we suppress those needs. So, how do you know the difference between a need and a want? The key is understanding that your desires are just as valid as anyone else's, and it's okay to ask for what you want. You don't have to be the “nice person” who always sacrifices their own needs for the sake of others. Your feelings, wants, and needs matter too. The Dangerous "Nice Person" Trap Here's a powerful insight that comes from my own experience: I used to be a nice guy. I wanted everyone to like me, avoid conflict, and always say "yes" to everyone. In fact, I spent a lot of time in my 20s in romantic relationships where I'd show up full of excitement, but the moment things got more serious, I felt suffocated. I couldn't figure out why I was pushing people away—until I realized that my fear of setting boundaries was the real culprit. The issue wasn't that I didn't like the person I was dating—it was that I didn't know how to ask for what I wanted, or even recognize what I needed in a relationship. I couldn't express my feelings and desires in a healthy, constructive way. And so, the anxiety about disappointing others, or being rejected, took over. How the "Nice Person" Trap Impacts You This might sound familiar. Maybe you constantly say "yes" when you really want to say "no." You accommodate others, avoid conflict, and overextend yourself, only to end up feeling drained, frustrated, and misunderstood. This behavior stems from the belief that you're "not enough" as you are, and so you strive to be what others want, even at the cost of your own well-being. But here's the truth: You have the right to want things. In fact, wanting and asking for things is the foundation of healthy, balanced relationships. When you deny yourself the ability to express your desires, it leads to resentment, burnout, and confusion. What's The Solution? It starts with asking yourself a powerful question: What do I want? This simple but profound question will help you reconnect with your true desires. Whether it's standing up for yourself at work, expressing your needs in a friendship, or asking for more in a romantic relationship, it's about starting with self-awareness. Here's a small example from my own life: not too long ago, my wife and I were in a situation where we had to decide how to handle our son's bedtime routine. He was having trouble sleeping on his own, which meant she was constantly having to lie with him in his bed. Eventually, I had to ask myself, “What do I really want here?” I realized I wanted to spend more time with my wife and not be in a constant state of tension around this issue. So, I expressed my feelings, setting boundaries while also acknowledging her needs. The conversation was challenging but ultimately brought us closer together, and our relationship grew stronger because we were both able to share what we truly wanted. Final Thoughts: Start Asking for What You Want Here's the liberating truth: It's okay to want things. And it's even more important to ask for them. If you're ready to stop the cycle of people-pleasing and start showing up as your true, authentic self, it begins with claiming your wants and needs as valid and important. Remember, your desires are not burdensome; they are part of your humanity. The more you can ask for what you want, the more confident you'll feel in your relationships, and the healthier those connections will be. So, start today by asking yourself: What do I want? Keep asking this question throughout the day in different situations. With practice, you'll start to see how this small shift can create a massive transformation in your relationships. Until next time, have the courage to be who you are and know, on a deep level, that you're awesome.

Welcome to Day 2691 of Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me. This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to Wisdom – Theology Thursday – “Hidden In Plain Site” – Supernatural Wisdom-Trek Podcast Script - Day 2691 Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps! I am Guthrie Chamberlain, and we are on Day 2686 of our Trek. The Purpose of Wisdom-Trek is to create a legacy of wisdom, to seek out discernment and insights, and to boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before. Today, we continue with the 10th of 16 segments of our Theology Thursday lessons. I will read through the book "Supernatural," written by Hebrew Bible scholar, professor, and mentor Dr. Michael S. Heiser, who has since passed away. Supernatural is a condensed version of his comprehensive book, ‘The Unseen Realm.' If these readings pique your interest, I would recommend that you read ‘The Unseen Realm.' Today, we will read through chapter ten: “Hidden in Plain Sight.” Since the fall, God had been trying to revive his original goal for Eden: to live with both his divine and human family on earth. God had told Adam and Eve to be fruitful and multiply, thereby spreading God's good rule over the rest of the planet. God wanted the whole earth to be a place where heaven and earth met, where humanity could enjoy the divine, and where the divine could enjoy earth and humanity. We know how that went. A History of Failure Humanity sinned and was expelled from God's presence. Eden was shut down. The divine enemy, the Serpent, was banished—cast or cut down—from God's presence to earth, the place where death reigns, where life is not everlasting. He became lord of the dead, and therefore had claim to every human being who would ever live—because they sin, and sin's wages is death (Rom. 6:23). After the flood, God had repeated the goal of Eden to Noah and his family: be fruitful and multiply. It was a do-over. Instead, humanity rebelled. Rather than obey God and spread the knowledge and rule of God everywhere, they would build a tower where God could come to them. Failure again. God wouldn't go for it. He mixed up the nations' languages and turned the nations over to his divine council to rule. Then he decided to start over with a new human family—through Abraham and Sarah. He would get back to the other nations—through Abraham's descendants—once his kingdom rule was revived (Gen. 12:3). This, too, was a failure. So was the next attempt, bringing Israel out of Egypt, then to Sinai, and then finally to the Promised Land. Israel failed. Eventually God raised up David, and then Solomon. But after Solomon died, Israel followed other gods and the Israelites turned on each other. God had to expel them from the Promised Land in exile. The human story, apart from God's presence, is the story of failure. This is because humanity is lost since the fall. All humans are imperfect and estranged from God. No human leader could be trusted with starting and maintaining God's kingdom. They would resist loyalty to God alone. They would go their own way. Humans would sin, fail, and join the lord of the dead, God's great enemy. But God's vision of sharing the blessing of being steward-kings over a new Eden couldn't happen without humans. And the only way humans would ever be able to hold up their end of God's plan would be for them to be made new again. The curse of the fall must be lifted. And for that, God had a plan. The Solution—and a Problem God needed a man who was more than
