Cortisol and progesterone are competing for the same building materials in your body every day, and you can probably tell by how you feel who is winning. I've been sitting with that thought for a while, and this week I finally recorded about it. I see this pattern constantly with the women I work with. She's the one who remembers eye appointments, refills the supplements, keeps the toilet paper stocked, and somehow still shows up looking like she has it handled. She's also the one walking through life with the worst PMS, the lowest progesterone, and a nervous system that hasn't felt calm in years. This week I'm talking about something I don't usually talk about in a biological way, and that's masculine and feminine energy. And no, we are not getting woo-woo about it. Cortisol and progesterone are competing for the same precursor hormone, pregnenolone, and if you're constantly in output mode, that competition has a clear winner every single time.I got real about this one too, including the day my daughter cut her knee open, my whole schedule fell apart, and I somehow ended the day more regulated than I have on days where everything went "right." That's not a fluke. That's the whole point of this episode. Here's what I'm breaking down for you:Why being "good" at handling everything might be the exact thing draining your progesterone month after monthThe real biological difference between masculine and feminine energy, and why your nervous system responds to it hormonally, not just emotionallyA simple mental shift that changed how I handle a derailed day (spoiler: my to-do list didn't get shorter, I just stopped white-knuckling it)Why your worst luteal phase symptoms might actually be your body trying to get your attentionThe cycle syncing tip that tells you exactly when to lean into productivity and when to pull backHow this pattern quietly shapes your marriage and why it might be keeping your husband from stepping up the way you actually want him toCan we be honest for a second? A lot of us wear "I do it all" like a badge of honor. It gets you the compliments, the gold stars, the "I don't know how you do it." Nobody warns you that your body keeps its own private ledger, and every month you spend gripping the plan instead of loosening your hands, you're paying for it in progesterone. Here's what caught me off guard while I was researching this one. The problem was never that I was doing too much. Plenty of women do a lot and feel completely fine. My problem was forgetting how to leave output mode, even for five minutes, even when nothing was on fire. If sitting still makes you itchy, if rest feels like you're sneaking away with something you didn't earn, if you have to fold laundry while watching a show because just folding laundry feels unbearably boring, that's not a scheduling issue. That's your nervous system stuck in a pattern it doesn't know how to leave. And I get it, because I lived there for a long time and honestly still visit sometimes with three kids and a full life. But I've started noticing the difference in my own body on the days I hold my plans loosely versus the days I grip them so tight nothing is allowed to shift. Same amount of stuff gets done either way. Very different hormone bill waiting for me at the end of the month. And if your luteal phase has ever felt like a personal failure, like the irritability and the sudden urge to cancel everything means you're doing life wrong, I really want you to hear this one. Your body isn't glitching on you. It's asking you for something specific, and most of us have gotten so good at ignoring the ask that our symptoms had to get louder just to be heard.Okay, here's your homework before you even hit play. Think of one thing this week you did purely because it felt good, not because it checked a box or moved you closer to a goal. Can't think of one? That's exactly why you need this episode more than you realized.MENTIONED IN THIS EPISODE:E22: Low Progesterone? Have you ever found yourself thinking:“I know exactly what I need to do…so why am I not doing it?”You know you need to show up more visibly. You know you need to raise your prices. You know you need to launch that offer. You know you need to have that conversation. And yet somehow you still find yourself hesitating, overthinking, procrastinating, or convincing yourself that now isn't quite the right time.In this episode of Simple Business Dream Life, Emma Hine is joined by transformation coach Gemma Gilmour to explore the hidden patterns, subconscious beliefs, and behaviours that influence the decisions we make in our businesses.Because sometimes the thing stopping you from growing your business isn't another strategy, another course, or another marketing tactic.Sometimes it's what is happening beneath the surface. What you'll discover in this episode:Why successful business owners can still struggle with self-doubt, hesitation, and fear of taking actionHow your subconscious beliefs influence the decisions you make in your businessWhy working harder is often the default response when things aren't workingHow burnout, identity, and business growth are deeply connectedWhy fear is often not the real issue holding you backHow to recognise your own “doom loops” and patterns of self-sabotageWhy your nervous system often pulls you back towards what feels safe, even when it isn't where you want to goHow to build awareness around your thoughts so you can start creating different resultsWhy knowing what to do isn't always enoughOne of the biggest frustrations for business owners is knowing the strategy but struggling to implement it.You can have the plan. You can have the knowledge. You can have the experience. But if your beliefs, emotions, and subconscious patterns are working against you, it can feel like you have one foot on the accelerator and one foot on the brake.Gemma shares her own journey from becoming a highly successful behavioural analyst to experiencing burnout, questioning everything, and eventually discovering that the missing piece wasn't another strategy. It was understanding herself.About Gemma GilmourGemma Gilmour helps ambitious women close the gap between ambition and capacity. Pumped Up Parenting | The Best Advice that NO ONE ELSE GIVES YOU about Raising Kids in Today's World

Because you don't need more parenting tips you need to know what will make the biggest difference for your family.Have you ever finished another parenting book, listened to another podcast, or watched another parenting video and thought:“Why do I still feel like I'm making this up as I go?”You're not alone.Parents today have access to more information than ever before. There are endless tips, opinions, strategies, and experts telling us what to do. But when every situation comes with a different answer, parenting can start to feel overwhelming, confusing, and impossible to get right. In this episode of the Be A Better Parent Podcast, Celia Kibler shares why more information isn't always the answer and why the right advice at the wrong time may not create the change your family needs.Because parenting isn't about learning 50 new techniques. It's about discovering the one shift that can help move your family forward.Every family has strengths.Every family has challenges. And every family has its own unique puzzle to put together. In this encouraging and practical episode, Celia explains how identifying the core issue behind recurring challenges can help parents move beyond temporary fixes and create meaningful, lasting change. In this episode, you'll learn:Why collecting more parenting tips doesn't always lead to better resultsHow to identify the challenges that may be creating stress, conflict, and overwhelm in your homeWhy treating the symptoms without addressing the core issue can keep the same problems coming backHow small, intentional shifts can lead to more cooperation, calmer mornings, and less yellingWhy consistency and follow-through are essential for building trust and respectHow giving more attention to positive choices can encourage children to repeat those behaviorsWhy parenting is less about being perfect and more about being intentional and preparedHow understanding your family's unique strengths and challenges can help you choose the right next stepOne of the most important reminders in this episode:You are not 50 parenting tips away from a better family. You may be just one meaningful shift away. That doesn't mean parenting will suddenly become easy.It doesn't mean there will never be frustration, overwhelm, or difficult days. And it definitely doesn't mean you have to become a perfect parent. It means you can stop guessing. You can learn what your family needs most. And you can build a strong, successful foundation one step at a time.Because you shouldn't have to spend your parenting journey simply trying to survive.Your family deserves the opportunity to thrive. And when parents feel empowered and prepared, they can create calmer homes, stronger relationships, more cooperation, and the kind of connection children carry with them into adulthood. If you've been feeling overwhelmed by conflicting parenting advice or wondering what you should focus on first, this episode will help you look beyond quick fixes and begin finding a clearer path forward.Take a listen and remember: you don't have to know every parenting trick. You just need the right support, the right tools, and a clear understanding of what to do next.Ready to discover where your family is already winning, where you may be feeling challenged, and what might be missing?Visit TimeForSkool.com and take the Parenting Success Snapshot. We're not committing to visits during the first week. We'll reach out once we know how recovery is going.”Later in the episode, Chelsea reflects on approaching ten years of motherhood and shares some of the things that surprised her most about birth, postpartum recovery, hormones, asking for help, feeling touched out, and experiencing resentment toward her partner. Why postpartum visits can become more stressful than expectedThe difference between a visitor and a genuine helperWhy good intentions do not automatically make a visit supportiveHow to decide when family should meet the babyHospital visitors versus visitors at homeProtecting physical recovery, feeding, rest, and bondingWhy you should avoid promising access before you know what recovery will requireHow partners can communicate boundaries to their own familiesWhy couples should use “we decided” languageWhat to say when relatives are disappointed or push backHow unclear family boundaries can create resentment between partnersWhat Chelsea wishes she had known before becoming a motherThe connection between receiving help, nervous-system regulation, and relationship healthInstead of beginning with, “Who is allowed to visit?” ask:What kind of support will help our new family feel safe, cared for, and able to recover? That question can help you make decisions based on your actual needs rather than guilt, family expectations, or pressure to keep everyone happy. The Postpartum Visitor PlanDownload the guide with reflection questions, visitor-planning prompts, and communication scripts for setting expectations with family.https://www.postpartumtogether.com/store/p/boundariesPeri bottle for postpartum recoveryChelsea mentioned how helpful a peri bottle can be during the first days of physical recovery after birth.https://amzn.to/4wt1upCPrep for UsPrep for Us is Chelsea's six-week relationship-preparation program for expecting couples. Send us Fan MailIs your digital pathology rollout moving so slowly that it's creating a fragmented workflow instead of transforming the department? In this episode of the Digital Pathology Podcast, I speak with Dr. Syed Hoda, Director of Digital Pathology at NYU, about why gradual implementation may no longer be the best approach to digital pathology adoption.Dr. Hoda explains how NYU used an intensive nine-month planning period to prepare for a department-wide transition. The process involved pathology, IT, project managers, vendors, hospital leadership, and approximately 40–50 people participating in regular planning calls. This wasn't simply a scanner installation. The team mapped workflows, configured Epic Beaker, redesigned laboratory spaces, tested integrations, planned training, and addressed the practical concerns of nearly 100 pathologists. We also discuss why scanner specifications may matter less than integration, vendor support, training, and system performance. For Dr. Hoda, digital pathology had to work as smoothly as glass microscopy. Speed was non-negotiable.Change management played an equally important role. Through open discussions, town halls, and the ADKAR framework, the team addressed concerns ranging from ergonomics to the loss of collaborative microscope sessions. The result? Every pathologist adopted the digital workflow, no one left the department because of the transition, and approximately 60–65 pathologists now work remotely using equipment that matches their office setup. Finally, we examine the next step: artificial intelligence in pathology. Dr. Hoda explains why NYU focused on building a reliable digital foundation before introducing AI. He also raises important questions about validation, transparency, responsibility, regulatory clearance, and the need for greater pathologist involvement in AI development.Episode Highlights00:00 — Are we repeating the same mistakes with pathology AI?Dr. Hoda compares the current excitement around AI with the early promises made about digital pathology 15 years ago.01:04 — Meet Dr. Syed HodaHis clinical pathology background and path to becoming NYU's Director of Digital Pathology.03:16 — Why going slowly can hold departments backHow partial adoption creates fragmented workflows, inconsistent training, and prolonged implementation.06:25 — Leadership support for rapid adoptionWhy institutional commitment, resources, and an ambitious timeline made the project possible.10:13 — Nine months of detailed planningWorkflow mapping, laboratory changes, system configuration, vendor selection, testing, and validation.11:48 — The role of professional project managementWhy pathologists shouldn't be expected to coordinate every part of a complex digital transformation.14:29 — Why the scanner isn't the most important decisionImage quality matters, but integration, service, training, and workflow fit may matter more.17:42 — People matter more than machinesHow vendor relationships and departmental engagement supported adoption.19:19 — Setting clear expectations across the departmentNYU communicated that every pathologist would move to digital sign-out within a defined period.20:49 — Change management is a structured processHow the ADKAR framework guided communication, education, adoption, and reinforcement.25:07 — Addressing practical and personal concernsFrom mouse ergonomics to preserving collaborative case review between pathologists.27:19 — Why NYU didn't introduce AI firstDr. Hoda explains why pathologists needed to become comfortable with the digital platform before adding new AI tools.29:26 — Digital pathology and remote sign-outApproximately 60–65 pathologists now work remotely with equipment matching their office setup.30:28 — Why speed is non-negotiableEven a small delay or repeated pixelation can quickly undermine confidence in a digital workflow.33:25 — A cautious approach to pathology AIConcerns about premature adoption, self-validation, limited regulatory clearance, and lack of pathologist involvement.37:27 — Scientific validation, transparency, and responsibilityWhat happens when the AI result and the pathologist's interpretation don't agree?40:41 — Where AI could meaningfully augment pathologyQuantifying microenvironments, feature combinations, ratios, and findings that are difficult to assess visually.Resources MentionedADKAR change management frameworkDigital Pathology AssociationExecutive War CollegeFDA list of AI-powered medical devicesA radiology mock-trial paper examining responsibility when clinicians use AI: Examining perceptions of liability about AI in radiology (MedRxiv)Why AI cannot do good science without humans (Nature Editorial)A previous Digital Pathology Podcast discussion about AI-supported colorectal cancer feature analysis (How to use deep learning image analysis for colon cancer with Rish Pai)Listen to the full conversation for a practical look at digital pathology planning, change management, remote sign-out, scanner integration, and responsible AI adoption.Support the showGet the "Digital Pathology 101" FREE E-book and join us!

In this episode of Insurance Town, we've got a Mayor Solo episode. No guest this week, just me and my fellow citizens of Insurance Town.Today, we're tackling a topic that I think has become way more complicated than it needs to be: personal branding.I'm going to challenge some of the biggest buzzwords in business and marketing today. What if "personal branding" is really just your reputation? What if authenticity is simply being true to yourself? What if networking is nothing more than making genuine friends? As a 90's kid, I don't think these ideas are new. I think we've spent the last twenty years creating new words for principles our parents were teaching us long before social media, LinkedIn, and personal branding became a thing. In this episode, we'll talk about how to intentionally build a reputation people trust, how to protect that reputation, why "fake it till you make it" is a dangerous philosophy, how to discover who you're uniquely called to serve, and why the strongest personal brands aren't manufacturedthey're built one promise, one relationship, and one act of integrity at a time.If you've ever wondered how to become known, trusted, and remembered without pretending to be someone you're not, I think you're going to enjoy this conversation. In this episode, you'll learn:Why your brand starts long before you ever have a "name brand"The difference between reputation and personal branding—and why it mattersWhy "fake it till you make it" may be holding you backHow being true to yourself is actually the easiest long-term branding strategyHow to identify the people you truly want to serveWhy trying to serve everyone weakens your reputationHow to define what you want to be known forWhy protecting your reputation sometimes means saying "no" to the wrong clientsHow one bad-fit customer can impact your culture, your team, and your future businessWhy networking is really about building genuine friendships, not collecting business cardsA simple way to talk about what you do without sounding like everyone elseHow to build a reputation that creates trust, referrals, opportunities, and long-term influenceSponsor Shout out:1FortAI is changing the insurance industry, but the biggest opportunity isn't just automation, it's having proactive digital teammates that help your agency work smarter every day. Most of us spend our lives trying to fix ourselves. But what if the first step isn't fixing anything at all? This week, Brandon shares a project he's been quietly building that started with one simple idea: patterns matter more than labels. Instead of putting people into personality boxes, what if we paid attention to the behaviors, reactions, and habits that quietly shape our relationships every day? That conversation turns into something much bigger. We dive into why we feel the need to be right, how awareness changes communication, why arguments usually have nothing to do with winning, and how simply noticing your own patterns can completely change the way you interact with the people you care about.Along the way we also get into dating, parenting, martial arts, motorcycles, modern technology, emotional triggers, and why sometimes the biggest breakthrough comes from asking yourself one uncomfortable question:“Am I trying to understand… or am I just trying to be right?”If you've ever wanted to communicate better, understand yourself a little more clearly, or simply become more intentional with the people around you, this is a conversation worth sitting with. Why awareness is more powerful than self-judgmentThe difference between patterns and personality labelsWhy trying to be “right” usually costs more than it gives backHow emotional states influence communicationThe hidden value of observing instead of reactingLessons from dating events, parenting, and everyday conversationsWhy noticing small behaviors can create massive personal growthHow changing what you pay attention to changes your entire experienceSometimes the biggest changes don't come from becoming someone new.Sometimes they come from finally seeing what was there all along.Have a question or topic you'd love us to cover?Send it our way. If you've ever woken up at 3 a.m. for no reason, walked into a room and completely blanked on why, or felt like your brain was wrapped in cotton wool... this episode is for you. These are not random complaints. They are among the most common early signs of perimenopause, and most women have no idea that's what's happening.I took a perimenopause symptom assessment through my Oura Ring recently and my results came back as mild across the cognitive and sleep categories. My first thought was, "mild doesn't sound that bad." Then I read what actually falls under "mild," and I recognized myself immediately. That was enough to make me sit down with our naturopathic physician, Dr. Desiree Caruso, ND, and record this episode.Dr. Desiree breaks down exactly what is happening in the brain and body during perimenopause, why the symptoms are real and measurable, and what the research says about how functional mushrooms can support women through this transition. We cover lion's mane, reishi, cordyceps, maitake, and tremella, and I share why all five of them ended up in Eversio's Five Mushroom Blend. If you have a woman in your life who is in her late 30s, 40s, or early 50s, this episode is worth a listen even if perimenopause isn't on your own radar yet. What You'll Learn:What perimenopause actually is (and the clinical definition that finally makes it clear), and why it is not a disease or a dysfunctionWhy the brain feels hormonal fluctuation so directly, including which brain regions have estrogen receptors and what that means for memory and decision-makingHow lion's mane supports the same nerve growth factor pathway that estrogen was protecting, through a completely different mechanism that does not require estrogenThe research behind lion's mane and cognition, including a placebo-controlled study done specifically in menopausal women showing improved focus and reduced anxiety after four weeksWhy reishi does not sedate you the way a pharmaceutical does, and how it works through the gut-brain axis to support your body's own melatonin productionThe GABA connection: how declining progesterone disrupts sleep and how reishi's triterpene compounds appear to support that same calming pathwayWhat cordyceps does for energy and adrenal function during perimenopause, and why adrenal health becomes increasingly important as the ovaries step backHow maitake supports metabolic health and glucose regulation as estrogen declines, and why that matters more than most women realizeWhy tremella earned its place in the blend, and how its polysaccharides support skin hydration from within as estrogen dropsWhat "standardized to 35% beta-D-glucans" actually means and why that number on the label makes a real difference in whether a mushroom product worksHow Dr. Desiree thinks about functional mushrooms in relation to other perimenopause support options, including hormone replacement therapy, with an honest look at what the research does and does not yet showResources Mentioned:Eversio Five Mushroom Blend: https://www.eversiowellness.com/products/5-mushroom-blend-organic-extracts?variant=45340200599751Oura Ring perimenopause symptom assessment feature: https://ouraring.com/womens-healthAtomic Habits by James Clear: https://jamesclear.com/atomic-habitsYour Next Steps:Shop Eversio Wellness: https://www.eversiowellness.com/collections/all-productsFollow Eversio on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/eversiowellness/Try the Eversio Five Mushroom Blend: https://www.eversiowellness.com/products/5-mushroom-blend-organic-extracts?variant=45340200599751 -- use code PODCAST15 at checkout for 15% off your entire order

This is how you scale a contracting business without burning yourself out.Sam Wakefield and Doug C. Brown just became business partners. Sam's been training contractors on sales and systems for years. Doug took Tony Robbins' sales team from seventeen point eight percent close rates to forty-three point two percent in four months. He's worked with ClickFunnels, E-Myth, and dozens of trades companies. When they combined forces? Exponential results. In this episode, you'll see exactly how we scaled a plumbing business from forty-five thousand dollars per month to one hundred fifty thousand dollars per month in ninety days. That's three times revenue in a quarter. But here's where it gets good. When Doug looked at the numbers, he cut the plumber's expenses in half. Then we added process around everything. And within two and a half weeks into the month, this guy had his best sales day, best sales week, and was on track for his best month ever. That's revenue growth plus expense reduction plus process improvement happening at the same time. How We Scaled This Plumbing Business:Step one: revenue growth through sales training and systems. Step two: expense restructuring and profit optimization. Step three: process implementation around everything. Result: triple the revenue in ninety days, cut expenses in half, best month ever by week two point five. The Formula:Money in minus money out equals result. That result equals the owner's quality of life. If you improve both sides of that equation at the same time, you transform the owner's life.Key Teaching Points:Why most contractors build the business on their own backHow to get it off your back through process and systemsThe axiom: success happens at the speed of implementationNinety percent of your time should be spent selling when growing to your first millionBut selling at a profit, that's the differenceSam's strength: revenue growth, sales frameworks, communicationDoug's strength: expense reduction, profit margins, process, efficiencyTogether: exponential growth contractors never thought possibleThe right tool at the right time, why most people fail with softwareMost contractors buy wrong tools at the wrong time or right tools at the wrong timeSoftware doesn't fix broken business fundamentalsNo magic bullets in businessDigitized follow-ups and AI call centers are distractions if the timing is wrongWhy random tools and software waste contractor's moneySame concepts apply whether you're two hundred K or two hundred million in revenueBut your focus changes at each stageRussell Brunson was Doug's student at Tony Robbins before ClickFunnelsDoug's credentials: Tony Robbins, ClickFunnels mentor, E-Myth, trades companiesRevenue growth without profit improvement equals owner crushedProfit improvement without revenue growth equals leaving money on the tableYou need both at the same time with proper processThe synergy of growing revenue, cutting expenses, and adding systems simultaneouslyReal Results from This Episode:Virginia plumber, forty-five thousand dollars per month in sales. After ninety days with Sam's training, one hundred fifty thousand dollars per month. Then Doug restructured the expenses, cut them in half. Then we added process. Week two point five into the month, best sales day ever, best week ever, best month ever. “Leadership at scale isn't about having all the answers—it's about drawing out other people's thinking.” - Winnie da SilvaWhy do so many leaders feel like they have to carry all the answers, and what is it actually costing them?In this episode, I unpack one of the most overlooked leadership tools: asking better questions. I share why constantly jumping in with solutions can quietly limit your team's thinking, and how shifting toward thoughtful, open-ended questions can completely change the way you lead. It doesn't mean stepping back or losing authority, but it does elevate the quality of conversations, decisions, and ownership across your team. You'll hear me discuss:Why having all the answers can actually hold your team backHow asking questions creates ownership instead of dependencyThe connection between inquiry and reducing defensivenessHow better questions uncover hidden risks, assumptions, and blind spotsWhy leaders who ask more questions tend to make stronger decisionsHow questions build trust and increase accountability across teamsSimple, real-world questions you can use in conversations starting todayResourcesWinnie da Silva on LinkedIn | On the Web | Substack | YouTube | Email - winnie@winnifred.orgExample Questions: Understanding someone's thinking“That's an interesting point. We've all been to a Seder. We know the songs, the matzah, the wine… and somehow, we still walk out the same person. But what if the Seder was never meant to be a ritual you attend, but a process you go through? In this class, Rabbi Yisroel Bernath uncovers the Seder as a 15-step journey of real transformation. A map for getting unstuck, from old habits, inner resistance, fear, and emotional baggage. Not just leaving Egypt… but finally letting Egypt leave you. This isn't about doing the Seder better. It's about becoming different because of it.Key Points:The Seder isn't a story, it's a step-by-step process of inner freedomWhy we start with holiness before fixing ourselves (Kadesh before Urchatz)The power of being “broken” (Yachatz) as the beginning of real growthWhy we eat matzah (freedom) before maror (pain) and what that says about healingHow each step of the Seder reflects a stage in emotional and spiritual transformationIdentifying your personal “Egypt” what's actually holding you backHow to walk into your Seder this year with intention and walk out different #Passover #Pesach  #Seder  #JewishWisdom  #Kabbalah  #InnerFreedom  #spiritualgrowth  #personalgrowth  #LetMyPeopleGo  #FromStuckToFree  #chassidus  #JewishLife  #MindsetShift  #HealingJourney  #Transformation  #RabbiBernath #chabad #PersonalExodus Available now:Paperback: https://www.amazon.com/Forgiveness-Experiment-What-Would-Your/dp/1069217638Kindle: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FR2QNJL6Audiobook: https://bit.ly/4tPFZhVSupport the showGot your own question for Rabbi Bernath?
