On today's episode of American gypC podcast I had the pleasure of talking to Visionary Artist Burgandy Viscosi. Burgandy is a North American Artist who started her artistic journey after a death experience at 20. She realized it may take a lifetime of creation to come close to expressing the visions she had during this experience. She also love helping others bring their own visions to life through visionary commission paintings or murals as well as painting portraits of your loved ones. Currently her work dives deep into an alchemy of philosophy, physics and culture, all dancing together on one canvas. She strives to create visions that help awaken humanity to their collective consciousness through color, intention and play. EU food producers are incredibly protective of their products and the history that surrounds them - that's why there's such specific rules around who can make a Champagne, or Burgandy, when we're really drinking a sparking wine or a glass of light pinot. But it's one thing to want to call your product by that name to get the accolades, and another to fabricate its origins to benefit from the higher prices. That's fraud. So when we learned Italy's renowned makers of Parmigiano Reggiano, favoured for finishing off bowls of pasta and rocket salads, are adding microchips to their cheese in order to prevent counterfeited products, Alec and Sascha needed to know more. On "EWTN News Nightly" tonight: President Joe Biden signed a proclamation at the White House establishing a national monument honoring Emmett Till, whose horrific killing helped spur the Civil Rights movement. Meanwhile, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy says allegations of financial wrongdoing against President Joe Biden are rising to the level of an impeachment inquiry, but a White House spokesman says the House GOP's eagerness to go after the President "regardless of the truth is seemingly bottomless." After this week, lawmakers won't be returning to Washington until after Labor Day so a final push is on to pass several spending bills. In other news, a new White House plan to forgive some student debt is gaining attention. Jeanne Gawdun, Senior Lobbyist for "Kansas for Life" explains how government officials and pro-life nonprofits in Kansas are gearing up to implement the state's innovative Alternatives to Abortion program, an initiative that pro-life legislators passed despite the Kansas governor's veto of it. Sunday, July 25th marked the beginning of Natural Family Planning Week, an educational campaign of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) to celebrate God's design for married love and the gift of life. The goal is to raise awareness about the ethical family planning methods supportive of Catholic beliefs about married love, respecting “the God-given power to love a new human life into being.” Known for its distinctive chants of sacred scripture, the Taize community is set to welcome a new leader. This ecumenical group was founded by a Swiss protestant just before World War 2 in Burgandy, France. Don't miss out on the latest news and analysis from a Catholic perspective. Book Vs. Movie: Kinky BootsThe True Story Behind the 2005 Movie & 2013 Broadway Musical (and the 2019 movie!)The “Month of Musicals” concludes with Kinky Boots, the true story of a footwear company in Earls Barton, North Hamptonshire, UK--WJ Brooks. The factory was in Steve Pateman's family for decades when in the 1990s, they started losing money to the cheaper, faster competition. Pateman appeared on BBC's Trouble at the Top documentary showing how his company switched to creating boots for transvestites who needed more security when they stood in high heels. The collection expanded to “kink wear,” dubbed “Kinky Boots” by the BBC producers, and the story took off. In 2005, director Julian Jarrold and writers Geoff Deane and Tim Firth brought the story to life (unfortunately, the factory had to close in 2000.) Joel Edgerton plays Charlie Price (the Steve Patemen substitute), and Chiwetel Ejiofor's Lola is an amalgam of several drag queens that were customers of WJ Brooks's “Divine, Provider, and Lady Provider” brands. The film has an amazing soundtrack, and Ejiofor was nominated for a Golden Globe. Harvey Fierstein wrote the book for the musical with legendary talent Cyndi Lauper creating the music and lyrics before its debut in Chicago in 2013. We start with memories of vineyards and wineries around the world , including in Europe, South America, South Africa, New Zealand, Australia and the U.S. And then Lea and guest Karen Misuraca talk in more detail about Napa and Sonoma counties, wine regions in Northern California, outside San Francisco. We first discuss some differences, and then focus on what to see and do in Napa, the wines, and some of the surprising things about Sonoma County. We end with Karen's best memory of Sonoma County, which deals with some extinct animals you wouldn't expect in California. _____Karen Misuraca is a travel writer, a member (as is Lea) of the Society of American Travel Writers, and author of Secret Sonoma._____Podcast host Lea Lane blogs at forbes.com, has traveled to over 100 countries, written nine books, including Places I Remember, and contributed to guidebooks. Transforming an old limestone quarry into a vineyard has been a labour of love for Marcel Giesen and Sherwyn Veldhuizen. Their viticultural journey at the site near Waikairi in North Canterbury began in 1997 and now, several blocks of grapevines grow with little intervention on the surrounding slopes.
It's a Burgandy and Gold Game Day on Grant & Danny -- We're spending the day getting ready for the Washington Football Team's matchup with the Seahawks on Monday Night Football! But first, we react to the breaking news that former Nationals Pitcher, Cy Young Winner, and World Series Champion Max Scherzer is signing a lucrative deal with our bitter rivals, the New York Mets. Meet Sean Burgandy. This next interview you're about to hear is a fun one for me. It's one of my best friends, and I say that in the very beginning when I interviewed Doc - this is one of my best friends. You're going to discover that I'm somebody who has a lot of best friends. So it's true, I have a lot of people in my life, I'm a huge extrovert. According to the Myers-Briggs personalities thing I'm a 90% extrovert and my whole life I've had a lot of friends. And throughout my life there's people that at one time or another or some circumstances, we end up being best friends. As far as I'm concerned once I have a best friend, I have a best friend. So I have a lot of best friends. And so this next person, Sean Burgandy, I can't even remember how we met. I really don't remember. I was in Washington, D.C. I know that and I met Sean and Sean was the volunteer coordinator for an event then called the True Spirit event. That event was a conference for trans people, I met him in ‘99, so the conference was in fall of ‘99. When I met him he was the volunteer coordinator and he recruited me to volunteer for the conference and also to help him coordinate volunteers. So long story short, Sean and I became fast friends working together on that and we've been friends ever since. He is one of my best friends and he's somebody that I can count on and know is going to be there for me. We're there for each other, we have been for like 20 years. I want to really acknowledge and appreciate, first of all, that my friends come on here and do this and they're out in a particular way on this show that maybe they're not out everywhere in the world. For Sean in particular, Sean is someone who for the most part in his world is what we call stealth, at least that's what we called it back in the day. So it's really important to understand that there are and I'm introducing you to these out trans and non-binary humans and all kinds of people in the way they identify that they're out and not everybody in the world is out. So it's important for you to know that you have trans people who are your kid's teachers and your accountants and your male carriers and your every profession you can imagine. There are trans people out there serving you every day and working with you every day and you don't know. You don't know that they are trans, and when you see some of my friends as we go through this you're gonna understand you can't pick a trans person out in the crowd. Now a lot of people think that you can and that's very frustrating for me because it's not true. Simply you can't. So my friend Sean is coming on to this interview and he's super generous to do this because he is out to his friends and the people who know him, but for the rest of the world he's not out. He's stealth and he has a career and a life where he's not out, so I really want to appreciate and acknowledge Sean for coming on and doing this interview with me first of all. Second of all, I just love this human and I hope that you love him as much as I do. Sean and I laugh a lot; Sean makes me laugh a lot. He's a funny person, he uses humor in all kinds of ways and so I hope you enjoy this interview as much as I enjoyed having it with him. Again, I hope you love Sean as much as I do and I think you'll learn a lot today. So welcome back to The Gender Reveal Party and I'd love to introduce to you my good friend Sean Burgandy. Each week we release a new video interview with another human being that has something to say about gender. Our goal is for our audience to understand that gender is a construct that was all made up and it's way more fluid than any of us can fathom. Penises and vulvae are sex parts, not gender. Gender and genitals are NOT the same thing. These weekly stories are about gender reveal.
In this beautiful interview we hear about one family's story involving many aspects of adoption that listeners often ask about--special needs adoption, foster-to-adopt, international adoption, and disrupted placements. In this episode, Burgandy, an adoptive mom, shares her family's story of adopting internationally and through the foster system. She discusses her experiences adopting special needs children. She talks about the different levels of openness in her three sons' adoptions, including her family's fulfilling open adoption relationship with one of her son's (first) parents in India.

Like many people with an entrepreneurial streak, Andy Levine’s endeavors began at an early age. While studying for a degree in philosophy and business at Denver University, he attempted to organize a bike race (Levine jokes his true major was “fresh snow and mountain biking”), but it failed to get any traction. The day after his graduation ceremony, feeling unsure of his calling, Levine packed up his beloved bike and headed to Beaune, France. It would end up being the trip that defined his working life, inspiring the launch of his luxury adventure and cycling company, DuVine . In this episode, Levine describes the advantages of traveling by bike, from smelling the terroir and meeting locals, to exploring remote areas and making spontaneous pit stops. Find out what a typical day on a DuVine tour has in store, why he recommends that people do less planning in their everyday lives (and in travel), and his personal favorite tours depending on the season.Learn more about Andy by following him on Instagram @duvineandy and following DuVine @duvine!

We’re super excited to have Skot and Tyler from True Stone Coffee Roasters with us to taste the Glenmorangie Tusail and the Tullibardine 228 Burgandy. We spend time talking about how similar the tasting process is between what we do and what they do when researching a new blend. They were also kind enough to bring a sample of their immersion brew cold coffee beverage, which we taste just before the closing toast. True Stone Coffee Roasters have also given us–and you–a special treat. If you go to their web site to order any of their amazing blends and use the coupon code “scotch”, you’ll get 10% off your order–no limit, no end date (or so I’m led to believe). Our thanks to them and happy roasting!

St. Columbanis of Bobbio Rebroadcast of the long running radio program, "The Ave Maria Hour", a presentation of the Franciscan Friars of the Atonement. www.AtonementFriars.org St. Columbanis - Columbanus of Bobbio The founder of several European monasteries, St. Columbanus was born c. 543 in Leinster, Ireland, and was educated at Bangor. Late in life (c. 590), he left Ireland to establish, at the invitation of King Childebert of Burgandy, a monastery at Annegray. He founded monasteries at Luxovium (Luxeuil) and at Fountaines as well. In 603, a synod accused him of keeping Easter by the Celtic date, although the real charge seems to have been criticizing the lax morals of the Burgundian court. Columbanus appealed to Gregory the Great, but nothing is known of the outcome of this act. Seven years later, Columbanus left Burgandy to preach to the Allemani of Switzerland; when Burgandy captured Switzerland, he fled to northern Italy, where he established a monastery at Bobbio in 613. His monasteries were known for the strictness of their rules (which the Benedictines later ameliorated) and their emphasis on corporal punishment. In addition to his rule for monks, Columbanus wrote a peneteniary and poems.

Discussion ranges from Anchorman 2, The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty, Oldboy 2013, Homefront, Black Nativity, her and Inside Llewyn Davis, from quick chats to full film reviews.

It is time for another patented DOUBLE'S EPISODE...by which we mean it is just the two of us, Ben and Xander, in what is probably more accurately called a "single's episode". Short and sweet (and sometimes horrifying; see 'bleeding perineum'), this is a lovely, intimate episode of AE with XO. Get it in you.
