What would you attempt if you knew you couldn't fail? Most of us didn't grow up in a family that was unfailingly supportive. Instead, as life coach and author Giovanni Dienstmann explains, “We were conditioned to believe certain things about ourselves and about life that are just not helpful.” In this podcast, Tami Simon speaks with Giovanni about his new book, Wise Confidence, and how we can each create our own “aspirational identity”—the person you want to be, how you want to see yourself and the world, and how you want to operate. Give a listen to their inspiring conversation about: mindful self-discipline; making sacrifices; self-doubt and arrogance—two traps of the ego; the five elements of wise confidence; the conviction of self-belief; the journey from a conditioned identity to an aspirational identity; goal-oriented spiritual lineages (and those that aren't); living with purpose; recognizing the stories we tell ourselves as the first step in transcending our conditioning; practicing courage; finding your three “power words”; choosing the personal qualities you most want to develop; imposter syndrome; the ceiling fan metaphor; four core tools—mindset, witnessing, imagination, and embodiment; the “never zero” commitment, and how commitment differs from motivation; self-love and self-compassion; energizing your thoughts; living in a multilayered universe; knowing your “bigger why”; and much more. In the latest episode of the Circuit of Success podcast, host Brett Gilliland sits down with Giovanni Dienstmann, a renowned self-discipline coach, meditation teacher, and author. Giovanni, the creator of the highly popular meditation blog Live and Dare and author of best-selling books like Practical Meditation and Mindful Self-Discipline shares his insights on overcoming self-doubt and building lasting self-esteem. He delves into "wise confidence," a balanced state where self-belief is harmonized with a realistic understanding of life's challenges. This state allows individuals to navigate life's ups and downs with resilience and a clear sense of purpose. Giovanni's newest book, Wise Confidence: Overcome Self-Doubt and Build Lasting Self-Esteem, released in March 2024, brings a transformative approach to the age-old struggle of self-doubt. During the podcast, he discusses how meditation and self-discipline can help individuals unlock their inner strength and find peace, even amidst chaos. Giovanni emphasizes that mastering the mind through meditation is not just about stress reduction, but about creating a life where peace of mind, empowerment, and well-being are daily experiences. As a leader in the mindfulness space, Giovanni Dienstmann's teachings are grounded in the intersection of wisdom, peace, and power. His bold promise is that anyone, regardless of their current life circumstances, can access a place within themselves that is untouched by anxiety, fear, or lack. Through his work, Giovanni provides practical tools and insights to help individuals discover this inner sanctuary and transform their lives from the inside out. Giovanni emphasizes the idea of living "inside out," meaning that one's internal mindset and values should guide one's external actions, rather than letting external circumstances dictate their inner state. He also shares his personal meditation practices, which involve extensive daily sessions, and discusses how different types of meditation can cater to individual needs. The podcast seems geared toward individuals interested in personal growth, mental wellness, and achieving success through disciplined practices and a positive mindset. We will learn: When we should take a different approach to self-acceptance How to develop an aspirational identity The three pillars of self-confidence and how they can transform your self-image Have you ever had that inner voice that whispers, “I can't do this,” right before you're about to take on something new? Or maybe it's louder, a persistent chant of self-doubt that seems to paralyze you, keeping you stuck where you are, not really moving forward in life. But that's not your true inner voice. It's the reptilian brain. The part that's been running the show since the caveman days. And if you don't learn to manage that part of your brain, you never clear the weeds to hear your true inner voice. So, I want you to imagine moving through life with a sense of purpose and alignment, making choices not from a place of fear but from a place of confidence. That's exactly what we're diving into today. The concept of Wise Confidence. Our guest is Giovanni Dienstmann. He's been on the show before and has produced a masterclass for our membership. He is a self-discipline coach, meditation teacher, and author who focuses on the intersection between wisdom, peace, and power. Well-being can be an abstract term. We've all heard that things like eating well, exercising and meditating are good for us, but we might be unsure why, or if they even work. For mindfulness and meditation researcher Dr. Richie Davidson, well-being is a measurable skill. And like any skill, it can be cultivated with practice. Well-being, he says, improves when we train in four specific areas: awareness, connection, insight and purpose. In this episode, Davidson introduces us to these pillars of well-being that, when nurtured, result in a life of greater comfort, health and happiness. To learn more about the science behind this transformation, listen to his previous episode, #051: The Modern Science of Mindfulness. Dr. Richard J. Davidson is a research professor of psychology and psychiatry and the Founder and Director of the Center for Healthy Minds at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His non-profit, Healthy Minds Innovations, uses the discoveries and insights gleaned from research to create tools to help people around the world build skills of well-being. This talk is a brief excerpt from Dr. Richie Davidson's guest teacher presentation to those enrolled in the Mindfulness Exercises Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Training Program. Mind Love • Modern Mindfulness to Think, Feel, and Live Well
We will learn: Why habits alone are not enough. Why you need to be goal-oriented and process-oriented. The 3 pillars of mindful self-discipline. We tend to choose what feels good in the moment versus what's actually good for us. Regardless of the surface-level reason, there's almost always a deeper reason. And that deeper reason is usually that you haven't yet connected the hard thing with a deeper why. So whether you need help building a consistent morning routine, breaking bad habits, finding your life purpose, increasing motivation and willpower, achieving your goals, or just being more effective with your time, mindful self-discipline can help. That's what we're talking about today. Our guest is Giovanni Dienstmann. He is a self-discipline coach who has helped hedge fund managers, CEOs, entrepreneurs, celebrity musicians, ambitious professionals, artists, and pro athletes to live a more focused and disciplined life. Self-discipline is the foundation of achieving what we want in life and becoming the person we were meant to be. Without self-discipline, we will never know the life we could have achieved and the goals we could have accomplished. That is why this discussion is so important. This is part two of our discussion on the power of self-discipline for those with ADHD and others. You do not have to have ADHD to walk away with a ton of value from this podcast. Dave continues his discussion with Giovanni Dienstmann, A meditation and self-discipline teacher and coach. While many with a distracted brain may be challenged when it comes to self-discipline, Giovanni addresses those individuals right at the beginning about any skepticism they may have. He does so by talking about his younger years when he did not feel so peaceful or disciplined. By looking at his own upbringing, Giovanni feels confident that his advice can help just about anybody become centered and disciplined in life. Dave and Giovanni spend time on the concept of willpower. And Giovanni specifically addresses willpower for those who may have an impulsive nature. That would include those with ADHD. Giovanni talks about how optimism goes hand in hand with willpower and he offers his tips for being more optimistic about the process. He also breaks down the concept of awareness both internal and external awareness. Giovanni feels this is a big part of becoming more self-disciplined in life. He discusses meditation, journaling, and integration as parts of the awareness journey. Giovanni ends the discussion with small steps people can take to begin the journey of more self-discipline in their lives including the PAW Method, Pause, Awareness, and Willpower. If you are looking for a methodical and well thought out approach to getting more out of life and finding the discipline you need to achieve your goals, this is a great discussion. Giovanni Dienstmann is an author, certified meditation teacher, coach and speaker. He has a diverse training with over 9,000 hours of meditation, and a teaching style that is pragmatic, simple, methodical, and non-sectarian. Giovanni's personal anthem is Empowered Peace and Empowered Peace is the reality he lives in now. At only 15-years old, meditation taught Gio that the real bully was inside his head, and that he could learn to be his own best friend. It taught him how to let go, be greater than his problems, and accept himself. Giovanni has written a book called Practical Meditation: A Simple Step-By-Step Guide. I can just accept whatever emotion is happening to me right now, with all the sensations in my body, pleasant or unpleasant and that there's still space for me to chose what I want to do with it. Do I just want to watch and let it pass? Do I want to fuel it to attention and then increase it if it's a positive emotion? Do I want to process it so that it kind of disappears. Mindfulness gives me these options. Thoughts on Breathing My style of meditation is not about breathing. I've tried breathing styles in the past and they were not the best ones for me. Having said that, breathing is an important element of my mindfulness practice throughout the day. I notice that when I am eating, I try to pay attention to my breathing. When I breathe more deeply and slowly while I eat, I chew better and I feel that digestion happens easier after that for some reason. When I'm working, I may be answering emails or something and from time to time I remember to breathe deeply and slowly and the more I do that throughout the day, the less tired I feel at the end of the day. The story of the second arrow, and where has Jaimal employed the second arrow? Jaimal's Dad was a military guy who did yoga. How did his Dad meld that dichotomy? Jaimal's Dad came home one day and said I'm leaving. How well can Jaimal remember that day? How has Jaimal changed the language in his own mind when feeling fear? “Very sad, no problem” Where did that story originate and why does that statement mean so much to Jaimal? "It's not so much about the success or the failure, it's about the path." "The pain of failure goes very quickly, but the pain of regret for all those dreams that you didn't pursue, that eats your soul very slowly for the rest of your life." "Yes, when you dare to desire something, when you dare to have a goal, yes, you're setting yourself up for disappointment, and yes you're creating expectations where you'll likely be frustrated, but you're up for a great journey and you're up for a lot of growth." "Let fear be the background noise of your success." "Instead of looking at the cost of taking action, look at the cost of not taking action" --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/yourahalife/message

If you sit in meditation with the expectation that your mind is going to stop and you experience supreme peace, that’s not going to happen. You’re not going to stop it, but let the mind do whatever it wants to do. Meditation teacher Giovanni Dienstmann talks about developing the habit of meditation and the benefits of the practice. In the Subconscious Mind Mastery Coaching Program, the Number One issue clients (listeners) are asking about is Money. The #2 issue is how to turn off the ego/self chatter that dominates the mind, in order to hear the intuitive voice of Higher Self. Good question!I wanted to turn to an expert in Meditation, our friend from Podcast 109, Giovanni Dienstmann. Giovanni meditates up to two hours every morning, so he is very in tune with silencing the ego/self.Giovanni also has a Meditation Course, which we mention in the podcast, and you can purchase that directly by clicking here. The tips from Giovanni and me in this podcast should certainly give you things to practice in calming the ego/self voice, then if you want to really take your practice up another notch, get the course.I also mentioned the Audiobook by Fred Dodson, Intuition Training, which is available on Audible or iTunes or by clicking directly here.Enjoy The Journey,ThomasThe post Podcast 119 – How to Turn Off Racing Thoughts – Giovanni Dienstmann appeared first on Subconscious Mind Mastery. We certainly live in uncertain times. A recent New York Times article was entitled “The Prozac Nation is Now The United States of Xanax,” and discusses one person who said she has suffered from severe anxiety since she was four years old. It's amazing what we are facing today, and the lack of skills to cope with it.When they say this generation of youth may be the first to not outlive their parents, between that and rampant obesity, you could certainly see why. We're stressing ourselves to death.Giovanni Dienstmann is going to teach us about meditation in this podcast. He puts his money where his mouth is because his “Miracle Morning” routine includes 30 minutes of yoga, then two full hours of meditation! Giovanni Dienstmann tells us how he does it, plus talks about the importance of the subconscious mind, and an interesting analysis of spirituality around the world today, particularly with the Millennial generation. This podcast is loaded with great information on a very important and timely topic.Enjoy the Journey,ThomasVisit Giovanni's website here:Master Your Mind: An In-depth 5-Week Meditation CourseThe post Podcast 109 – Meditation with Giovanni Dienstmann appeared first on Subconscious Mind Mastery.
