Big thanks to Graham King for joining me on episode 90! In this episode we chat about the great film Boogie Nights (1997) by Paul Thomas Anderson. In this episode we wrangle with notions of: The essence of Faustian bargain being that you don't even ask for what you really want, and the isolation that comes with not knowing what you want The importance of apologies Exploitation The desire to make something good The state of film and quality films Stigma Plucking knowledge and art from the teeth of taboo and custom Surrogate parental instincts Flattery from insecurity Great films giving homage to other great films The mindblowing cinema that is Boogie Nights Additional Spoiler: Magnolia - 8:20 Thank you everyone for listening to the show. Please feel free to leave a rating and review!

Home Office housing contracts have turned Clearsprings founder Graham King into one of the UK's richest men. Meanwhile, the asylum seekers living in his business empire of taxpayer-funded hotels have compared living in them to being in prison, with reports of physical assault, racist abuse and confiscated belongings. Finally, we made it. I was very grateful to once again be joined by Dan Holder, Lydia Rollinson and Graham King to finish off the Harry Potter books. In this last instalment of the series we talk about: Students becoming more excellent than their teachers, changing your opinion of someone because they can change, believing in the cause, accepting help from others, leaving your safe havens for the bigger world, not hurting those who don't deserve it, being an inspiring figure, how emotions can blind you to other things that are going on, Voldemort's downfall being Harry's strengths, how tyranny is bad for everyone, upper party is the only beneficiary, opportunities costs when people of talent work on propaganda, how the journey can have sucky parts, getting the better of your low moments, feeling hurt and despair, Promethean vs. Hero, what it feels like when your crush isn't into you, deciding the right thing to do, kindness as compound interest, and seeing old friends. Thank you to everyone who listens to this episode, this series, and this podcast. What a trip to Hogwarts it has been. See you at the next episode!

For this episode of Really True Fiction I am pleased to have Stuart Kaija and Graham King on as guests to discuss the 2013 novel The Orphan Master's Son by Adam Johnson (winner of the Pulitzer prize). I had never heard of this book before it being introduced to me for this episode and I thorougly enjoyed it. It is, broadly speaking, about the experiences of a young North Korean man through his rise, and fall, and rise again, and fall again in the North Korean's state apparatus. In this episode we discuss how the subconcious does the dirty work, how propaganda is never about the content of what it is talking about but rather a reminder that the government is always there, the lies of totalitarianism and how it corrodes the nature of an inner life, among many other facets. Enjoy! Additional Spoilers: Call of Duty Black Ops - 33:30 Fight Club - 35:55

Graham King is all about getting it right. He's not so much about getting ripped. The DC fitness trainer has built his business – Urban Athletic Club – on the idea of functional training, where exercise leads to being better at life, not just better than the person on the next bench press (although that's a happy side effect). Out of the LINE DC's fitness center, Graham is passing on his knowledge about moving with purpose to locals and visitors through a series of workouts, seasonal outdoor adventure courses, rooftop yoga, nutrition advice, and personal training. Powered and distributed by Simplecast.

#BibleStudy #ExpositoryPreaching #GrahamKing Titus Overview This epistle is named for its recipient, Titus, who is mentioned by name 13 times in the NT (1:4; Gal. 2:1,3; 2 Tim 4:10; for the 9 times in 2 Cor., see Background and Setting). The title in the Greek NT literally reads “To Titus.” Along with 1, 2 Timothy, these letters to Paul’s sons in the faith are traditionally called “The Pastoral Epistles.” Although Luke did not mention Titus by name in the book of Acts, it seems probable that Titus, a Gentile (Gal. 2:3), met and may have been led to faith in Christ by Paul (1:4) before or during the apostle’s first missionary journey. Later, Titus ministered for a period of time with Paul on the Island of Crete and was left behind to continue and strengthen the work (1:5). After Artemas or Tychicus (3:12) arrived to direct the ministry there, Paul wanted Titus to join him in the city of Nicopolis, in the province of Achaia in Greece, and stay through the winter (3:12). Because of his involvement with the church at Corinth during Paul’s third missionary journey, Titus is mentioned 9 times in 2 Corinthians (2:13; 7:6,13,14; 8:6,16,23; 12:18), where Paul refers to him as “my brother” (2:13) and “my partner and fellow worker” (8:23). The young elder was already familiar with Judaizers, false teachers in the church, who among other things insisted that all Christians, Gentile as well as Jew, were bound by the Mosaic law. Titus had accompanied Paul and Barnabas years earlier to the Council of Jerusalem where that heresy was the subject (Acts 15; Gal. 2:1–5). Crete, one of the largest islands in the Mediterranean Sea, measuring 160 miles long by 35 miles at its widest, lying south of the Aegean Sea, had been briefly visited by Paul on his voyage to Rome (Acts 27:7–9,12,13,21). He returned there for ministry and later left Titus to continue the work, much as he left Timothy at Ephesus (1 Tim. 1:3), while he went on to Macedonia. He most likely wrote to Titus in response to a letter from Titus or a report from Crete. ‘The British Book of Spells & Charms’ which explores the wealth of traditional spells and charms of Britain’s folk-magical tradition, including those for good fortune, love, the healing of people and animals, curses and their removal, and acts of magic contained within traditional folk songs. In writing this book, Graham King has been ideally placed to draw upon examples and parallels within The Museum of Witchcraft’s collection and archives. The text of ‘The British Book of Spells & Charms’ is complemented by numerous illustrations and photographs, drawing mainly from the museum’s fascinating collection of magical artefacts, and is Troy Books’ first title to be printed in full colour throughout. This was my conversation with Graham King about this extraordinary compilation of magic texts, spells and charms. To know more about this and other Troy Books, please visit their website.
“Cecil Hugh Williamson (1909-1999) is, I believe, one of the great unsung heroes of the twilight world of folklore and witchcraft. He is probably best known for founding the Museum of Witchcraft and Magic in Boscastle, North Cornwall, which he ran up until midnight on All Hallows Eve 1996; three years before his passing over in to the spirit world. Unbeknown to many however, this was just part of a colourful and magical career that spanned most of the 20th century. This included working in a Rhodesian tobacco plantation, the pre-war film industry, the British secret services and, most importantly, devoting his life to the study of traditional witchcraft”. Steve Patterson In 1996, whilst helping the then new owner Graham King in refurbishments to the Museum of Witchcraft and Magic, Steve happened upon a handwritten manuscript entitled simply ‘Witchcraft’ and containing an intriguing pot-pourri of esoterica from the hand of the Museum’s founder; Cecil Williamson. It is this manuscript which provides the basis for Steve’s book which includes a full annotated transcript of the ‘Witchcraft’ manuscript, a history of Cecil Williamson and the Museum of Witchcraft and Magic, a treatise on Cecil Williamson’s vision of traditional Witchcraft – the practices and the philosophy of the wayside witches, an account of his meetings with Aleister Crowley and Gerald Gardner, and a controversial account of his witnessing of the birth of ‘Wicca’. The book is both a valuable reliquary of practices for the traditional witch, and a resource for folklorists and historians alike; telling the tale of a hitherto largely ignored, but hugely influential episode in modern occult history, and one of the great unsung heroes of the twilight world of folklore and witchcraft. A full annotated transcript of Cecil Williamson’s “Witchcraft” manuscript. A History of Cecil Williamson and the Museum of Witchcraft. A treatise on Cecil Williamson’s vision of traditional Witchcraft – the practices and the philosophy of the wayside witches. An account of his meetings with Alistair Crowley and Gerald Gardner, and a controversial account of his witnessing of the birth of ‘Wicca’. An amazing discussion with Steve Patterson about this incredible man, witch and occultist - Cecil Williamson. To know more about this and other books from Troy Books, please visit their website.

Tony Lloyd presents a lovely laid back show with contributions from Dave Birdman and Debbie the phone girl. The star prize for the Thameside competitions is a packet of Spangles. There is a recorded feature on life in the US sent in by Bob who is still on holiday. Listeners include: Dick Gustavsen from Sweden. Jean Fooks from Epson. Barclays Bank in Ewell. Keith Archer from Romford. Dave Collins. Graham King from Orpington. Andrew Shaw of Bromley. Philip Casell from Harlesden. Trevor Ball. xxx Judging by the number of letters and calls the station is growing rapidly in popularity. By now Thameside 90.2 is definitely a major part of the London radio scene. The recording improves significantly half way through.
An early live extended broadcast. Bob Edwards plays music from 1978 and phones listeners who wrote in over the last 12 months live on air.Bob tells us about a guest appearance from the Intrepid Birdman (who later became a regular presenter and a key part of Thameside). Loads of jingles mostly created by the Birdman many of which seem to have disappeared since. Music news from Tony Lloyd. Loads of people mentioning their mum and dad. There is discussion about whether Thameside should extend hours - this 4 hour extravaganza was quite a contrast to the usual 1 hour shows. The team are drinking Light Ale (can you still buy that?)At the end of Bob's show there is a 30 minute retrospective on the first year - Thameside had put out 52 shows uninterrupted and were basking in the glory.Thameside Radio 90.2 listeners mentioned in the phone calls include Dave Williamson from Hendon, Robert of Chelsea, Debbie Wooley, Simon Michelsberg from Barnet, Martin Smith of Pinner, Jim Stockwell, Graham King from Orpington and Richard Sugarman from Stanmore.
