More than 600 families remain displaced after wildfire ripped through Jasper in July of 2024. As clean-up continues and rebuilds begin, officials are at odds over the "right way" to rebuild one of Canada's most magnificent tourism destinations. With hundreds of millions of dollars hanging in the balance, we check in with federal, provincial, and municipal leaders to figure out what they agree on, and what they don't.  2:45 | Minister Terry Duguid, federal lead on Jasper recovery efforts, tells us about his trip to the mountain town and conditions around $160M in new funding.  23:10 | We ask Hon. Ric McIver, Alberta's Minister of Municipal Affairs, why the province is withholding the $112M it promised for housing.  46:10 | Mayor Richard Ireland talks housing crunch, tax shortfalls, and the future vision for Jasper.  1:16:45 | The next generation isn't drinking like generations before did. Why is that?  1:31:30 | Sheryl schools us on dead chickens and dancing monkeys, Jenny wants you to join the resistance, Alanna's spitting fire over the newest Alberta Health scandal, Steve's sick of being robbed, Stephanie's had enough of the "treacherous tangerine," and Cody wants everybody to rethink a specific, recurring chore. It's Groundhog Day all over again with the Mariners and nothing seems to be changing. At what point do we actually root against the team? It doesn't sound like they're ready to get rid of Jerry Dipoto or sell the team. So, what needs to happen for things to change?  The Seahawks are an example of a team that doesn't stay complacent, as evidenced by the firing of Pete Carroll. Early indications are positive for this season. We take a listen to Jarran Reed and Tyler Lockett, as they spoke to the media yesterday. What does this team really look like? Both seem enthused about the newness they're seeing with the team.  There are a few numbers the Seahawks can flip this year that would make a serious difference compared to last year.  Joe Sheehan, The Joe Sheehan Newsletter gives us a look around MLB and who's standing out during the final month of the season. The Mariners still have a chance to go on a heater, but also have potential to swirl the drain. Can they make up three games before they play the Astros?  How long are you - as a fan - willing to give the Mariners before you start rooting against them?  The Daily Power Play! The Oilers gave Leon Draisaitl a historic $112M deal.  he Cougar Roundtable! Alex Brink and Mkristo Bruce react to the Cougars' dominating 70-30 win in week one over Portland State. John Mateer isn't just a quarterback who can run - he's a running back and a quarterback. The defense has some cleaning up to do in the tackling department, but things are looking pretty good.

It's virtual E3 season, with dozens of major games announcements over the weekend. Here's just a few of that caught our eye.Bethesda's Starfield had its first game footage, though still incredibly vague apart from the obvious "you'll be on spaceships visiting far away worlds" vibes. But the big news was the confirmation this game is the first Bethesda title to be announced as a full Xbox exclusive, scheduled for release on November 11, 2022. It was notable that the combined Xbox and Bethesda event was opened not by Microsoft's Phil Spencer but by Bethesda's Todd Howard, a big statement on the unification of the massive developer with the platform giant. In another crucial development during the Xbox event was the consistent foregrounding of how most every game was announced as day one on Xbox Game Pass, pushing the subscription service as the primary mode of access to Xbox first-party games, but also that Xbox Cloud Gaming is no longer being mentioned as a side project but as one of the 'platforms' games are being launched on. At every end screen where platforms were mentioned, Xbox Cloud Gaming sat clearly alongside Xbox Series consoles and Windows 10 PCs. That pre-announcement of the increased cloud delivery format made it easy to just slide this in everywhere, but it is perhaps the most important development for the future of Microsoft's gaming business – as a service you join, not a box you buy.Elsewhere in E3 news, dozens of games have had announcements and dates across the various conferences, including Left 4 Dead spiritual successor Back 4 Blood coming on October 12, Halo Infinite still coming 'this year' but getting an entirely free multiplayer mode, a Jack Sparrow crossover in Seat of Thieves, Ubisoft announced a new Mario + Rabbids game coming next year, Diablo II Resurrected is coming September 23, Rainbow Six Extraction is coming September 16, Tiny Tina's Wonderlands – a Borderlands fantasy D&D inspired spin-off – is coming early 2022, Forza Horizon 5 is taking this show to Mexico, and perhaps my personal favourite of the show so far is a vampire shooter called Redfall from the team behind Dishonored. The Federal Court has approved the $112M settlement in the robo-debt court battles, with presiding judge Bernard Murphy has delivered an unequivocal rebuke to the federal government, calling it an unlawful program. "The proceeding has exposed a shameful chapter in the administration of the Commonwealth social security system and a massive failure of public administration... It should have been obvious to the senior public servants charged with overseeing the robo-debt system and to the responsible minister at different points that many social security recipients do not earn a stable or constant income..." The settlement means the federal government does not have to admit any liability regarding the scheme.https://www.zdnet.com/article/federal-court-approves-au112m-compensation-in-settlement-for-robo-debt-failure/NBN Co is considering whether to pursue a request to have its monopoly broadband provider status revoked in markets where it is facing competition from 5G services. Founder and CEO of Fit4D, David Weingard David is a diabetes patient who was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at the age of 36 while training for a survival race. A veteran of numerous running and triathlon races (including Ironman triathlons consisting of a 2.4M swim, 112M bike and 26.2M run), David committed to rebuild his life and provide positive energy to the diabetes community while coping with the condition on a 24/7 basis. Beginning with shorter races, he gradually learned how to successfully race triathlons with diabetes and within a year, completed the famous Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon in San Francisco Bay.  He then began racing Ironman triathlons again – though this time, working through the delicate balance between insulin, food, nutrition and exercise. Through these races, David has fundraised extensively on behalf of the Juvenile diabetes Research Foundation's (JDRF) New York City Chapter. David's personal experience receiving meaningful education and support from a Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) sparked the idea for Fit4D to leverage technology to scale the patient reach of adherence and outcome improvement programs for pharmaceutical, payer and provider organizations.   In 2008, David left Microsoft to found Fit4D, building on his career as an executive in the technology sector.   As the founder and CEO of Fit4D, David received the PM360 Elite Entrepreneur award for transforming the diabetes landscape. Under David's leadership PM360 also named Fit4D one of the top innovative healthcare startups in 2015, while ePharma named Fit4D its 2016 audience winner of the Disruptive Technology Showcase and Innovations Challenge.  David is transforming the diabetes landscape and improving people's health in the real world every day. David was selected as the Keynote Speaker for the American Diabetes Association's largest fundraising event, Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes, 2016. David has given back to the diabetes community by coaching the JDRF Ride to Cure Diabetes and the American Diabetes Association's Tour De Cure many times, and gives back to the entrepreneur community by guiding emerging health technology founders. As a chosen finalist for the Novo Nordisk-Lyfebulb Patient Entrepreneur award, David participated in a panel on patient-centric innovation, sharing his message of hope to an international audience.  Most recently, David was the recipient of the first-ever Kate Granger Compassionate Care Award, spotlighting individual contributions to high-tech/high-touch care and awarded to those who demonstrate compassionate care in this area. 00:00 The trend with Diabetes today. 03:15 The several factors to managing Diabetes. 03:40 The economics of treating and managing Diabetes. 04:20 How the structure of care affects Diabetes management. 08:50 Critical need to engage at the local level, particularly in underserved communities. 10:00 “The only people using apps are the ones already engaged.” 14:15 The 80/20 rule applied to Diabetes patients, adherence, and cost. 15:45 Approaching Diabetes management in steps. 18:20 A guide to keeping Diabetic Populations sound. 20:20 Prescribing an App. 21:40 Best Practice Provider Extension. 24:50 Support vs. Evidence-Based Medicine. 27:30 The optimal solution for patients. 28:35 Programming & Scaling with Technology. 30:50 Standardizing Care. 33:00 You can find out more at www.fit4d.com or email info@fit4d.com

Back in 1985, Stan Brock, the original “crocodile hunter,” founded Remote Area Medical (RAM) after suffering an injury in an isolated area of South America and also seeing the devastating impact that easy-to-treat illnesses and injuries can cause to people in hard-to-reach locations. More than 30 years later, RAM has provided over $112M in free healthcare services to over 700,000 people around the globe. Over time, RAM has increasingly focused on providing services in poor and rural areas of the United States, and today this work makes up more than 90% of their services. Tonight we’re joined by Dr. Vicki Weiss, an Optometrist, serial volunteer, and President of the Board of Directors for RAM Virginia. This year, RAM Virginia will run eight mobile clinics in locations of great need like Smyth, Warsaw, and Emporia Virginia, and they plan to expand to 12 clinics next year. In 2016, 4,850 RAM volunteers provided free care to 5,134 Virginians valued at over $3M dollars. Vicki joins us to talk about her experiences working with RAM and other volunteer groups, and some of the people she has served over the past 25+ years.
