Number one Funkateer Bootsy Collins takes us to Funk University! From his days in James Brown's group, to his work with Parliament/Funkadelic and Booty's Rubber Band, to his recent single that raises awareness about domestic violence, "the world's only rhinestone rock-star doll" tears the roof off the sucker and breaks it all down for us. Songcraft wants the funk! PART ONE:Paul and Scott discuss particularly recognizable bassists and chat about their expectations of what they thought Bootsy would be like before he landed the mother ship on Songcraft. PART TWO:Our in-depth conversation with the legendary Bootsy CollinsABOUT BOOTSY COLLINS:Named among the top 5 bassists of all time by Rolling Stone magazine, Bootsy Collins is one of funk and R&B's most iconic musicians, singers, frontmen, producers, and characters. He started out playing sessions for King Records in his hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio, then kickstarted his career with James Brown's backup band, The J.B.'s. He was credited as a songwriter on classic J.B.'s songs such as “The Grunt” and “These Are the J.B.'s.” In 1972, he joined George Clinton's Parliament-Funkadelic, and is a co-writer of classics such as “Up for the Down Stroke,” “Chocolate City,” “P-Funk (Wants to Get Funked Up),” “Give Up the Funk (Tear the Roof Off the Sucker),” “Mothership Connection,” “Dr. Funkenstein,” and “Flash Light.” In 1976, Bootsy's Rubber Band captivated audiences with his flashy star-shaped glasses and bass, and hits such as “I'd Rather Be With You” and the chart-topping “Bootzilla.” Since then, Bootsy has launched Bootzilla Productions and Funk University to help mentor younger creatives to reach their full potential. His inescapable influence on pop culture can be heard in the music of Snoop Dogg, Outkast, Dr. Dre, Flea of Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rick James, Prince, Daft Punk, Primus, Thundercat, and in Childish Gambino's Grammy-winning platinum hit “Redbone,” which paid homage to “I'd Rather Be With You.” Bootsy is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and the National Rhythm & Blues Hall of Fame. On the Monday episode of the North Shore Drive podcast, presented by FanDuel and Edgar Snyder & Associates, Post-Gazette Steelers insiders Christopher Carter and Ray Fittipaldo react to the NFL Week 11 victory against the Cincinnati Bengals. Can Mason Rudolph handle the job of starting QB for OC Arthur Smith if he's forced to play more amid Aaron Rodgers' injury? How did his connection with receivers including DK Metcalf, Calvin Austin III, Roman Wilson, Darnell Washington, Jonnu Smith and Pat Freiermuth look? And what's the latest we know about Rodgers' injury that kept him out of the second half Sunday? Our duo tackles those questions, then pivots to the defense. Has coach Mike Tomlin solved the unit's biggest problem? Why were Jalen Ramsey, Joey Porter Jr., Kyle Dugger and James Pierre able to have so much success against Joe Flacco, Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins compared to a month ago, when that trio dominated the defense in Cincinnati? And how did good work on the back end help guys up front including T.J. Watt, Cam Heyward, Nick Herbig, Keeanu Benton and others? Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. Chris is one of a handful of pastors around Cincinnatti who, around the exact same time, has been inspired to really step into disciple-making as a church leader. November 14, 2025 - Season 16, Episode 50 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Friday morning episode, Alex Kozora and I get right to talking about the Pittsburgh Steelers as they prepare to play the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday afternoon at Acrisure Stadium Alex and I start this show off by looking at the Thursday injury report released by the Steelers. We discuss the few players to watch closely on the Friday report and whether CB Darius Slay will be able to play on Sunday due to him being in concussion protocol this week. Will WR Ke'Shawn Williams be active again this weekend as a returner? If he isn't, will rookie RB Kaleb Johnson be given another chance to return kickoffs? We address both of those questions early in this show. Alex and I also discuss the possibilities of both WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling and CB Asante Samuel Jr. being elevated from the practice squad on Saturday. On Thursday, we once again heard from two of the Steelers' coordinators, Arthur Smith and Teryl Austin, so Alex and I recap the main talking points to come out of those media sessions. While not a lot of pertinent information came out of those two media sessions, we address a few of the things both of the coordinators said. We welcome Jay Morrison of Sports Illustrated back to the show on Friday, and he helps us preview the Steelers-Bengals game. Morrison has covered the Bengals for many seasons, and nobody knows that team better than he does. I get his thoughts on several things related to the Sunday afternoon game in Pittsburgh. Jay fills us in on the Bengals' injuries, how QB Joe Flacco has fit in on offense the last several weeks, and the state of the Cincinnati locker room on the heels of their last two losses prior to bye week. Jay talks about the Bengals' offense and defense quite a bit in this interview, and we get his score prediction for the Sunday game at the end of the interview. If not already doing so, make sure to follow Jay on X/Twitter at @ByJayMorrison and make sure to read his work here: https://www.bengalstalk.com. After finishing with Morrison, Alex and I provide our own preview of the Steelers-Bengals game. We break down what we are looking for out of each team on both sides of the football Sunday afternoon. Alex and I then give our picks against the spread for the remainder of the Week 11 NFL games provided by show sponsor MyBookie.ag. We also give our final score predictions for the Steelers-Bengals game. This 108-minute episode also discusses several other minor topics not noted above and we end this episode by answering several emails we received from listeners. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices. God's righteousness is bad news for us... and good news. In Romans 1, Paul lays out his topic for the letter: righteousness: The absolute perfection of God's moral character. We discover that we're immoral, impure, even rebels against the Right; and we realize that we have no future. We corrupt ones cannot coexist with His incorruption. But then Paul tells us that the righteousness that condemns us, can save us. Welcome to Steelers Morning Rush, our new daily short-form podcast with Alan Saunders, giving a longer perspective on a single news topic surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers or the National Football League. Today, it's whether the Pittsburgh offense can go toe-to-toe with Cincinnati's in a shootout. In the last five games between the Steelers and Bengals, every time Cincinnati has had Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins available to them, they've scored at least 30 points. The Pittsburgh offense is coming off its worst game of the season, managing just 10 points after a garbage-time touchdown against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday. But it may be up to that unit to find a way to return to form, and secure victory for the Black and Gold. Can they do it? Alan breaks it down. Learn more about your ad choices. In a league increasingly defined by youth and flash, Joe Flacco and Aaron Rodgers represent the grizzled veterans who refuse to fade. At 40 and 41, respectively, the duo's second showdown of the 2025 NFL season on Sunday—Bengals at Steelers—evokes a bygone era of pocket passers with ice in their veins. Their first clash, a Thursday night thriller on Oct. 16 in Cincinnati, was a 33-31 Bengals escape that felt like a nod to their Super Bowl legacies. Flacco, thrust into the Bengals' starting role amid Joe Burrow's injury woes, orchestrated a fourth-quarter masterclass. He went 31-of-47 for 342 yards and three touchdowns, capping the win with a game-winning drive that silenced a raucous Paycor Stadium crowd. Rodgers, in his Steelers debut after a surprise June free-agency signing, nearly stole it, tossing four scores on 249 yards but undone by two picks—including a back-breaking interception in the red zone. It marked just the second starting QB matchup of 40-plus-year-olds in NFL history, behind only Vinny Testaverde and Warren Moon in 2002. Now, with Burrow practicing but Flacco downplaying any benching—"I'm honestly not really thinking about it"—the iron man from Audubon, N.J., gets the nod in Pittsburgh. The Bengals (3-6 post-bye) desperately need this to stay afloat in the AFC North, leaning on Ja'Marr Chase's explosiveness to exploit a Steelers secondary that's surrendered 1,200 receiving yards to wideouts this year. Flacco's steady 68% completion rate and seven TDs over his last four starts make him a sneaky fantasy gem, but the road test at Acrisure Stadium looms large. For Rodgers, wearing black and gold has been a mixed bag: 2,100 yards and 15 TDs, but the Steelers' 4-5 mark reflects offensive line woes and a run game that's averaged a measly 3.8 yards per carry. Najee Harris must grind early to set up play-action magic, or Flacco's poise could haunt them again. This "Old Bowl" rematch isn't just divisional fireworks—it's a testament to longevity in a brutal sport. Will Rodgers reclaim his four-time MVP aura, or does Flacco, the eternal bridesmaid turned Bengal savior, prove age is merely a number? Kickoff at 1 p.m. ET promises answers, with playoff implications hanging in the balance. Music from #InAudio: https://inaudio.org/ Track Name Holy (Trap). RJ Bell, Steve Fezzik and Mackenzie Rivers talk NFL betting for week 11. RJ Bell, Steve Fezzik and Mackenzie Rivers break down NFL Week 11 betting, starting with RJ promoting a discounted half-season package and highlighting hot handicappers before diving into matchups, market moves and derivative angles. They discuss Fezzik's strong college football season, best bets from previous weeks, and review wins on Jets spreads, Houston-Denver unders, Washington and Cincinnati games, plus Rams and London totals, noting a streak of strong “spot seven cover” results. McKenzie recounts past real-estate ventures as the trio jokes, then they shift into Week 11 analysis: Bengals second-half performance vs Pittsburgh, predictive metrics showing large first-half/second-half splits, and why Cincinnati +3.5 in the second half is RJ's best bet. They break down Green Bay's injuries, Philly line moves, wide-receiver depth concerns, and how market shifts through key numbers signal anti-Green Bay sentiment. They analyze Tampa Bay vs Buffalo, Baker Mayfield's lack of recent rushing, and whether injury or coaching changes explain performance dips. They touch on Tennessee improving after coaching changes, Kansas City's struggles, and how situational scheduling affects motivation. Fezzik gives his picks: Miami 1Q -130, Ravens-Browns under 39.5, and props including Brock Bowers and McBride overs, with McBride's volume spike under Jacoby Brissett emphasized. RJ questions line discrepancies in receiving props and discusses weather-driven total movement. The group debates quarterback traits, offensive limitations, and matchup-specific vulnerabilities, including Arizona's resilience and aggregate point-loss profile. They note 49ers scenarios, comeback histories, late-game aggression logic and how analytics or simulations contrast with intuitive coaching decisions. They close by previewing next week's recording schedule, recapping picks, and encouraging bettors to time wagers around market-expected weather drops, emphasizing second-half mismatches, injury context and evolving team profiles while keeping the tone humorous and conversational. Pascal Wagner interviews Evan Polaski, digging into what 18 years across retail and multifamily have taught him about raising capital through multiple market cycles. Evan shares what it was really like trying to raise an institutional fund heading into the 2008 crisis, how the “denominator effect” froze commitments, and why that experience still shapes his view of risk today. He contrasts institutional and retail LP behavior, explains why he's gravitated back to necessity-based retail, and calls out the dangers of marketers-turned-operators who chase AUM instead of disciplined deals. Evan also walks through how he evaluates sponsors as an LP himself, what “conservative underwriting” should actually mean, and the specific questions passive investors need to ask about performance versus the original pro forma.
