In 2004, amongst other comedies like Road Trip, Eurotrip, Grandma's Boy, Super Troopers came this comedy starring Dax Shephard, Seth Green and Matthew Lillard that started amazingly and then went... a little off the rails. When I'm Rome is a 2010 Romantic Comedy directed by Mark Steven Johnson. This is the story of Beth, a workaholic art curator who is disillusioned by love, played by Kristen Bell. When Beth's little sister Joan, played by Alexis Dziena, gets engaged (after 2 weeks) Beth flies to Italy for the wedding. There she meets Nick Beamon, the best man, played by Josh Duhamel. He is ONE of our love interests. The premise of our story today is brought on by Beth drunkenly wading her way INTO the fountain of love in Rome. It's a take on the Trevi Fountain. There in an act of defiance against love, she pulls 4 coins out of the fountain, unknowingly bringing upon her self a spell. The owners of those 4 coins have now fallen in love… with Beth. Which is a good time to tell you about our supporting cast of Will Arnett as a tortured artist. Jon Heder is a magician illusionist. Dax Shephard is our self absorbed male model. Danny DeVito plays the owner of a sausage company.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Lastly, is Keke Palmer's baby daddy controlling?
The Rich Zeoli Show- Hour 2: MSNBC National Security Analyst Frank Figliuzzi suggested Tucker Carlson should face civil consequences for the actions of the suspected Colorado Club Q shooter—suggesting the shooter was likely a consumer of the Fox News host's content. While appearing on MSNBC, Colorado State Representative Brianna Titone (D) hypothesized that attacks on the LGBTQ+ community have become more prevalent because violent extremists have become emboldened by Donald Trump's rhetoric. While speaking on the Million Dollaz Worth of Game podcast, Ice Cube revealed that he lost out on a $9 million acting opportunity because he refused to get vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus. The Biden Administration has announced yet another pause in student loan repayment—expecting to last through August 2023 or until the constitutionality of student loan forgiveness via executive instruction is determined. While appearing on the Armchair Expert podcast with Dax Shephard, comedian Jerry Seinfeld mocked Hollywood award shows as nonsensical—pointing out that the awards aren't based on data or analytics but are entirely subjective.
The Rich Zeoli Show- Full Show (11/23/2022) 3:05pm- According to documents obtained by The New York Times, the Colorado Club Q shooting suspect identifies as non-binary and uses “they/them” pronouns. Could this impact hate crime charges that have been brought against the shooter? In the aftermath of the shooting, journalists and news anchors, most notably NBC's Ben Collins and MSNBC's Nicolle Wallace, began blaming Republican rhetoric for violence against members of the LGBTQ+ community. Will their employers reprimand them for pushing a personally preferred narrative without facts to corroborate those preferences? 3:30pm- When news broke that the Colorado Club Q shooting suspect identified as non-binary, CNN anchor Alisyn Camerota and political commentator Errol Louis suggested this may be a ploy by the shooter's lawyer to help avoid a hate crime conviction. 3:40pm- Congressman Guy Reschenthaler—Represents Pennsylvania's 14th District and Serves on the House Appropriations Committee & the House Committee on Rules—joins The Rich Zeoli Show to discuss his recent editorial for The Hill, “There's Good Reason to Be Thankful: Democrats Are No Longer in Charge of the People's House.” Rep. Reschenthaler vows that, when Republicans take control of the House of Representatives at the start of the New Year, his party will begin a series of investigations into federal government misconduct—specifically, Dr. Anthony Fauci for his role in funding gain-of-function research in China and Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas for his repeated failure to secure the U.S. Southern border. 4:10pm- MSNBC National Security Analyst Frank Figliuzzi suggested Tucker Carlson should face civil consequences for the actions of the suspected Colorado Club Q shooter—suggesting the shooter was likely a consumer of the Fox News host's content. 4:20pm- While appearing on MSNBC, Colorado State Representative Brianna Titone (D) hypothesized that attacks on the LGBTQ+ community have become more prevalent because violent extremists have become emboldened by Donald Trump's rhetoric. 4:35pm- While speaking on the Million Dollaz Worth of Game podcast, Ice Cube revealed that he lost out on a $9 million acting opportunity because he refused to get vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus. 4:45pm- The Biden Administration has announced yet another pause in student loan repayment—expecting to last through August 2023 or until the constitutionality of student loan forgiveness via executive instruction is determined. 4:50pm- While appearing on the Armchair Expert podcast with Dax Shephard, comedian Jerry Seinfeld mocked Hollywood award shows as nonsensical—pointing out that the awards aren't based on data or analytics but are entirely subjective. 5:05pm- In the aftermath of the Colorado Springs shooting, NBC Senior Reporter Brandy Zadrozny blamed right-wing media and politicians for vilifying LGBTQ community members and, subsequently, making them targets for violence. 5:30pm- If selected to be Speaker of the House, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy vowed to remove Ilhan Omar, Adam Schiff, and Eric Swalwell from their House Committee positions. The move is in response to Nancy Pelosi and House Democrats voting to remove two Republicans from their committee positions earlier this year. 5:40pm- While attempting to defend Congresswoman Ilhan Omar's comparison of Israel to terror organizations, Sunny Hostin and Whoopi Goldberg outrageously questioned whether Hamas and the Taliban were actually “terrorist communities.” 5:50pm- New Jersey Assemblyman Harold Wirths (R)— 24th District & Minority Budget Officer—joins The Rich Zeoli Show to discuss a Democrat push to limit the Second Amendment, specifically concealed carry laws, in the state. Wirths notes that it seems as though some representatives are more interested in passing legislation that targets law-abiding citizens than dangerous criminals. 6:00pm- Rich hosts The Mark Levin Show from 6pm to 9pm!

Today our topic is sharenting and we're talking about adults who overshare online about their kids and the damage it can cause. We're joined by expert Leah Plunkett who has literally written the book on sharenting, and she'll explain how our current over-sharenting crisis is undermining our kids—and how we can make choices that restore their privacy & freedom to play & grow. Guest Expert Leah Plunkett's Biohttps://leahplunkett.com (Leah Plunkett )is an author, lawyer, and mom of two young kids. Leah's book from MIT Press—SHARENTHOOD: Why We Should Think Before We Talk About Our Kids Online—joined works by Margaret Atwood and Stephen King on Wired's list of "must-read" books for fall 2019 and was named a "best self-help book for men" in 2019 by Fatherly. The New Yorker praised SHARENTHOOD for offering "gripping moments" where Leah envisions "scenarios that seem both far-fetched and, when you think more deeply about the direction of technological innovation, a bit inevitable" for how our tech choices impact our kids, now and in the future. Leah, an honors graduate of Harvard College & Harvard Law School, brings her cutting-edge legal expertise and her background as an improv comedian to her work. After Leah talked with actor Dax Shephard on his podcast, Armchair Expert, Dax said of Leah: she's a "fascinating woman and also very funny." We hope you agree! John just came back from a SURPRISE show... which isn't really as great as it may sound. This reminds Amanda ("Peaches") about the special event happening in the children's department at the local library, in honor of Pride Month. Which, actually, ALSO is less great than it was meant to sound. Then, we hit the mail bag, because one of our Neighbors wants to push back on the idea that it's okay to mock people's bad ideas. How do we avoid being one of the "scoffers" from Psalm 1? This also leads nicely into the Peaches' rant today: women often say they want a partner who makes them laugh and is their best friend. They want a Dax Shephard to share funny stories; but they're not Kristin Bell! (That makes more sense when you've heard the Sloth Story.) Finally: what should you do when a kind stranger washes your windshield? And how big is pickle-sized hail? All this and more on today's episode! Laura is a 35 year old feminist, nurse, mom of two boys ages 10 and 5 and a spouse to a dental student at the college of dentistry. She has survived two babies with colic and post-partum depression and all the boys in her house have ADHD which is another daily struggle she deals with. Laura has had a mixed relationship with her body since she was pretty young and is a previous disordered eater. She was on the University of Iowa Women's rowing team for a short while, which you'll hear helped with some of her restrictive eating patterns at the time. Laura is currently at the heaviest weight she has ever been and says that she is, “doing daily work to appreciate all the things this body has done instead of focusing on what I wish it looked like.” In this episode Laura and I dive into a variety of topics. We talk about her work in healthcare and how she has witnessed folks in larger bodies not receiving proper care due to their size. Laura details her experience with disordered eating and how her relationship with food and movement has changed overtime, sharing how it started after a break up and has morphed and shapeshifted over the years. We do discuss specific calorie counts and restrictive behaviors that may be triggering for folks who are struggling with their relationship with food. We chat about the role control has played in both of our choices with food and movement and the importance of grooming your social media. We also talk a little bit about food marketing and labeling after we both listened to episode 315 of the Armchair Expert Podcast with Dax Shephard and we thought it was really interesting so we wanted to talk about it. Laura talks parenting and body changes, and so much more. A really cool episode with an amazing woman. Intro: Minutes 0 to 3:30 We’ll be off Memorial Day weekend and will be back on June 6th. I’ve been hiking and really like it, but I like warmer weather. Chandra prefers walking when it’s icy cold. I’m surprised I like hiking in the woods but I’ve really enjoyed it lately. (We recorded this Thursday before the quotes came out from The Me You Can’t See.) Royals: Minutes 3:30 to 20 On Wednesday Princess Beatrice announced that she is expecting her first child. She married Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi in July of last year. She made the announcement on the third anniversary of Harry and Megan’s wedding which was not a coincidence. The royal family didn’t acknowledge the Sussexes’ anniversary either. We’re still getting fallout from Prince Harry’s interview on the Armchair Expert podcast. It’s like the royal commenters didn’t pay attention to anything he said. The controversy feels phoned in like they’re trying to make something out of nothing. The worst criticism was from Camila Tominey who used Harry’s vulnerability about seeking help as a way to call him damaged and say the Americans were exploiting him. Chandra said Tominey is mad because she’s used to exploiting the royals and she doesn’t have that access anymore. The palace and the press are trying to gatekeep how Harry talks about his mental health. It’s also stigmatizing to people who seek help. I play a segment from Armchair Expert where Harry said that they would weaponize his vulnerability. Chandra mentions the manufactured controversy over Harry’s comments about the First Amendment. We found Dax Shephard and his podcast partner, Monica Padman, annoying. Chandra thinks Dax is trying to be like Howard Stern without the charisma. Dax kept interrupting Harry and bringing it around to himself. I thought that they should have cut a lot of the interview. We go on a tangent about Minari. We got the first trailer for Oprah and Harry’s Apple+ series, The Me You Can’t See. The royal press freaked out ahead of time. They didn’t want to talk about the substance of Harry’s comments about his mother’s death. A royal expert named Duncan Larcombe told Closer magazine that Harry wasn’t really happy. He sounded like a jilted lover, like so many of the other royal commentators. I play a segment from Zoom where we talked about this. Chandra says that, since the Armchair Expert podcast, the press has been focusing more on Harry instead of blaming Meghan for everything. Now that Harry is telling his truth the press’s narrative, that Meghan forced Harry’s hand, no longer has weight. Meanwhile Kensington Palace’s messaging has changed since Jason Knauf left as their communications head. Prince William is no longer angry at everything. A royal source told Page Six that “William is dreadfully hurt, he’s an elegant man who lives for his job, his country and his family.” Bill and Melinda Gates’s divorce: Minutes 20 to 25 Last week in episode 91 we wondered why Melinda was leaking all these stories about Bill. It sounded like she wanted to launch her own foundation and preserve her reputation. Since then we’ve heard that Bill would regularly proposition women who were his subordinates at Microsoft. In fact he got taken off the board at Microsoft around the year 2000 after having an affair with a staffer there. The timeline of the affair is when Melinda was having their kids so it does not look good for Bill. The NY Times took pains to say that Bill didn’t retaliate against women at work who turned him down, but how do they know that? Melinda also has hired trust and estate lawyers to represent her in the divorce, which may mean that she wants their three children to inherit more than just the ten million each that they were originally supposed to. Comments of the Week: Minutes 25 to end My comment of the week is from Miranda on Oya’s story about Shadow and Bone author, Leigh Bardugo, saying that people sneer at the things that women love. We think sports is just gossip for men. Here’s a link to the article Chandra mentioned where Harry Styles said he loved having young female fans. Chandra’s comment of the week is from HeatherC about the fug dress Duchess Kate wore to the Victoria & Albert museum. We wonder if Kate’s stylist is trolling her. The Cambridges will be traveling to Scotland. I thought that Chandra was joking in that post that they were going to watch Cruella and go to a football/soccer game, but that’s really what they’re doing. Thanks for listening bitches!
Prince Harry is on Dax Shephard's podcast! Joss checked it out on the Audacy app the other day and it was not what she was expecting! Rob and Joss chat about the podcast here. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Harry took centre stage this week in what was Mental Health Awareness Week in the UK. Earlier in the week it was announced that Harry's and Oprah’s 12 - part TV series “The Me You Can’t See” would start airing towards the end of May. Later in the week Harry was a guest on the Dax Shephard and Monica Padman’s Podcast, Armchair Expert. There has been a lot of press about Harry’s conversation with Dax and Monica - something that Harry anticipated would happen, saying the press damn him if he does speak, and damn him if he does not speak, so what does he has to lose?As always some of what was written about the podcast was truthful, some half truthful, and some a complete spin. I listened to all of the Armchair Expert podcast, the whole 1 1/2 hours of the show, and made some notes. I take some of the news headlines about what Harry allegedly said, and tell you what I heard him actually say or give you the context to the comments.Link to Prince Harry Armchair Export podcasthttps://armchairexpertpod.com/pods/prince-harryA lot more was covered in the conversation than has been reported in depth in the newspapers. Hey, y'all - Joel here. Goshdangit I'm losing my goshdang hair. It's not horrible yet but if I don't do something now it's gonna be irreversible. I want to go on finasteride but I'm worried my SHBG is too high and I'll get gynecomastia. I had my bloodwork done a few months ago and it was within the normal range but on the higher end. This has absolutely nothing to do with the podcast but it's all I can think about right now. Anyways, hope you enjoy this entry.BEST CONSUMED THROUGH HEADPHONESFollow @3rdPersonPodwww.Patreon.com/3rdPersonPodwww.3rdPersonPod.com
Hey, y'all - Joel here. I really wanted to record for the entirety of the recording process. However, the anxiety of being in the studio got to me and I cut this one short. Nonetheless, I find this entry quite interesting despite the fact that I am audibly nervous for its entirety. P.S. Hey, y'all - Joel here. Listening back to these entries is a little stressful for me. Usually listening back to these podcasts brings me a large amount of joy as they are aural time capsules of some of the fonder times of my life. However, while I did have a good time on this trip by in large, the subtext is that I was pushing towards a big deadline for the band. Even though everything ended up being fine, listening back transports me to the emotional headspace I was in while I attempted to finish a piano score on a time crunch, having never really successfully written a piano score before. Or maybe it's just that I am currently working on a very similar project. Who knows? BEST CONSUMED THROUGH HEADPHONESFollow @3rdPersonPodwww.Patreon.com/3rdPersonPodwww.3rdPersonPod.com
Hey, y'all - Joel here. Neither John nor I attend DePaul University. However, because Patrick is enrolled there, we both feel emotionally connected to the campus, even if only tangentially. We've held auditions at DePaul, seen performances, and made friends. For John and I, the Chicago trip was a novel time where we further cemented our bonds to various landmarks in our lives. Landmarks that likely no longer exist as we remember them.BEST CONSUMED THROUGH HEADPHONESFollow @3rdPersonPodwww.Patreon.com/3rdPersonPodwww.3rdPersonPod.com

Hey, y'all - Joel here. I'm running behind so I'll be writing these notes when I get home from church. If you see this before then, lucky you.Edit: I know that these next few entries may not be for everyone, but if you're someone who cares about craftsmanship and attention to detail, we might have something for you. I put a fair amount of thought into these notes. However, I do sometimes find myself staring at a blank screen, at a loss for what to say. Not because I have nothing to say, but because I care so much about how I say it. These notes are hardly perfect, but I believe in putting care into every part of one's art. Whether it be what I write, what I play, or what tools I play with.BEST CONSUMED THROUGH HEADPHONESFollow @3rdPersonPodwww.Patreon.com/3rdPersonPodwww.3rdPersonPod.com

Hey, y'all - Joel here. I've mentioned before that this podcast is in-part about finding the narrative in everyday experiences. Discovering the natural arcs that exist in both the mundanities and the eccentricities of our lives is fascinating to me. However, what I find even more interesting is that recording our experiences allows for actual literary devices to occur. In Entry 17 there's a moment where the listener will experience dramatic foreshadowing. If you listen closely during the segment in the restaurant, you can hear someone in the background mention the word "Coronavirus." This was in early February. Neither John nor I would hear of COVID-19 for several weeks. However, unbeknownst to us, the virus had already begun to wreak havoc on the world.I don't want to speak for everyone, but I find myself inclined to understand the world only as I experience it. I may consciously understand that there is great hardship happening throughout the world, but until I have some sort of personal involvement, it is difficult to internalize as a part of my understanding on a visceral level. Empathy is hard enough when presented with a direct emotional stimulus. Without one, it is near impossible. What I found interesting about the scene in the Korean grill, is that it's proof that the forces that I consider removed from my life are often just a few feet away. While it's unlikely that those people had been directly affected by the Coronavirus at that point in time, their personal involvement with it as an idea started much sooner than for me. We talk all the time in the podcast about the stories found in our own lives, but what about the stories of others that we never hear? Not only did all of those people in the restaurant go on and have their own story as it involves coronavirus, but they all have their own lives that will occur entirely separate from mine. Sure, we all have people whose lives we've chosen to intertwine with ours, but there are even more who just dip into our lives for a moment before they slip away.BEST CONSUMED THROUGH HEADPHONESFollow @3rdPersonPodwww.Patreon.com/3rdPersonPodwww.3rdPersonPod.com

Hey, y'all - Joel and John here. Listening back to the podcast has been an interesting exercise in self-reflection. There are many things that we've learned about ourselves, but our chief observation has been that Joel loves to talk as if he knows everything when, in actuality, he knows very little. We'll keep this brief since last week's notes were an essay, but we hope that you, the 3rd Person, enjoys hearing Joel share his priceless wisdom on comedy and art for an hour straight.BEST CONSUMED THROUGH HEADPHONESFollow @3rdPersonPodwww.Patreon.com/3rdPersonPodwww.3rdPersonPod.com
The concept of understanding becomes complex when we don't quite relate to another's feelings. The wonderfully talented Kristen Bell discusses her life as an empath among other things. Her personal experiences and innate ability to empathize help drive this passionate conversation that explores her sense of self and those around her. Bell's humorous and engaging nature brings light to a variety of deep conversations. "Everyone is a mosaic of their own experiences" - Kristen Bell Kristen Bell has some serious acting chops. She has a strong marriage and is an amazing and proud Mom. She starred in the NBC series “The Good Place,” opposite Ted Danson, played the role of ‘Anna’ in "Frozen" and “Frozen2.” She has starred in "Bab Moms", "Bad Moms Christmas," and broke out in her role as THE "Veronica Mars". Her list of Acting credentials is long and impressive! Recently, she became the executive producer in a second season of "Encore" which you can find on Disney+. She appears in it as well! Beyond film, she recently co-wrote the children's book, "We all need more purple people". She and her husband, Dax Shephard, started an amazing baby product line called "Hello Bello" to get affordable, high end, baby products so no mom has to decide between a budget and diapers. And, has partnered with Lord Jones to create a CBD line of oils and lotions called "Happy dance", with the goal of accessibility beyond boutique shops. In a moment at the end of the episode, Dax Shephard spoke about comparing oneself to others by either up comparing or down comparing. (I can't remember the actual term...I think that's close.)In speaking about parenting, Dax Shephard's point was that all you have to do is go to the supermarket and down compare yourself to parents you see and you'll realize, "Hey, I'm better than that person," and you'll be confident in your ability.Without trying to crap on other people, I find myself looking at others and realizing that I might be 1% better than that person. What I realized is that I don't have to be the BEST in the world, instead, I just need to be a little bit better than what I was yesterday. Or, if it helps, feel free to head to the grocery store and find a freakshow and feel better about yourself. Hey, y'all - Joel and John here. The two of us had very different family experiences growing up. Most of the reasons for variation between our two experiences can be attributed to one thing: family size. John's immediate family consists of more than ten people, whereas Joel's consists of four. When a family is as large as John's, certain social dynamics develop that simply aren't possible in a smaller family. Ideas like hierarchy and gossip don't make a lot of sense when there are only three other people involved.Follow @3rdPersonPodwww.Patreon.com/3rdPersonPodwww.3rdPersonPod.com

Pod-Crashing Episode 29: Shapes and shadesThe many shapes and shades of this thing called podcasting. The new age way to blog. No really! That’s how it got started. A ton of words were being tapped into the face of a computer. Everybody was doing it. The postal worker, the sewing machine lady, the ice cream teen. We were communicating! Yeah… maybe a little. There they were! The writer’s thoughts! Nicely crafted paragraphs. But you weren’t picking up their vocal inflections. The reader was forced to use their own interpretation. I endlessly received daily emails from readers that couldn’t figure out my mess. A trainload of research hitting a brick wall. Before podcasting I tried V-logging. Taking my blogs and reading them on video. I totally sucked at that! I tried too hard to create a connection. Plus the amount of time that goes into editing. Especially when the screw ups were total bonehead moments. It was making the videos bumpy and pretty small town market uncool. Everybody’s got their own story as to how they got hooked up with a podcast. I was a terrestrial radio junky with an ego the size of every holiday and I needed a stage. A performance. An outlet! Being there in 2012 felt like the moment my daughter and I shared while riding horses on my Uncles ranch in Ranchchester Wyoming. She asked, “Where are the trails we’re supposed to follow?” My only reply was, “Make it up as you go.” Oh I can’t gp back and listen to the early day podcasts. I had one of those fake disc jockey voices. If I was telling the story of a musician or actor it sounded like a Casey Kasum reject project. I knew how to talk over the intro of a song on the radio but damn this new level of podcast play where there’s no music had turned into a beast! Honestly it’s been fun. To physically explore newer ways to perform by way of creating a listening community has been incredibly engaging. But there are many shapes and shades in the game of podcasting. Just as there were in Blogging. You can get on there and say pretty much whatever you want. To rely on improv requires skill and craftsmanship. Even with those two tools in the box, I’ve heard some brilliantly funny comedians totally suck with the podcast. I think its body language. When we see the funny people on stage their facial expressions and body movement sell the punch line. Comedian Jared Freid knows of the separations. He won’t take his podcast to a live public performance. He doesn’t want fans and followers of the podcast to suddenly be thrusted into an atmosphere that’s based heavily on the performance and not a conversation. Which you can clearly hear when Dax Shephard and Chelsea Handler take their podcasts outside the comforts of four walls and a dog or cat lying next to your feet. As much as I love their podcasts I usually don’t make it to the end because as a listener I feel like the Uber driver that can’t stop the car and party with you.Let’s get back to the body language. If your episodes sound a little flat and out of tune. Let’s put a mirror in front of your microphone and study your patterns of delivery. My studio overlooks a beautiful forest in south Charlotte, NC. Everything is facing the window. I can see my reflection. No conceit. I’m talking to that person. I’ve made them part of my conversation. The best part is? I can have earphone hair and they can relate. They have it too! Keeping track of your body language allows you to shape your thoughts and how they’re being delivered. Too much energy can easily be seen as well as heard. 99.8% of all podcasts are listened to by one person. Not a group. It isn’t the family hour year 1933. One person. Your voice. Their ears. Share a conversation. Don’t blast their eardrums. Which I kind of do when I’m hosting motivational episodes on The Choice, Lyrics From Billy’s Forest and The Daily Mess. There are times I get so emotional that it feels like my hearts about to implode. Keeping it under control requires an honest man’s walk. Really! I take a two mile hike with my dog Jazzie and listen to the episodes. I study their behavior outside the studio. Am I yelling or getting too preachy? How will followers react? The many shapes and shades of this thing called podcasting. Bob Pittman totally utilizes the strength of his one on one-ness. The CEO of iHeart Radio has this way of developing a relationship with his weekly guests and mindfully includes the listener. He’s very much aware of our existence. Whereas many podcast hosts think along the line of I’m here and you are living vicariously through my performance. For Bob Pittman it’s almost as if we can see him embracing each question and or reaction with nothing but body language and total awareness of where his fans and followers are in their day or night. The microphone is part of him. He’s not sitting behind a large silver cylinder projecting his baritone vocals. It’s almost like there’s no mic in the studio. Which allows his emotional connection to paint pictures on this side of the podcast. The reason why I bring up the microphone is because it’s a serious game changer. You’ve seen the pictures of the performers with desktop stands or the long arms stretching across studio boards. That microphone sits right there in front of their face. All things being shared must move through it and you’ll turn off your body language to make sure those vocals are perfectly pushed forward. Those speaking think you have to sit up straight, pull your stomach in, uncross your legs and don’t lean on the table. Do all you can to break that habit. While watching the classic sitcom Cheers did you ever see Woody Harrelson reaching for the microphones above? Sports announcers wear headsets for a reason. Let the body do what comes natural. That doesn’t mean to go out and buy a pair. Great quality at that level of play means you’re gonna pay. Go to a comedy club and study them there people on that microphone. Headliners make the vocal catcher part of their movement. Openers and features are still trying to muster up a plan to somehow get the other hand in on the job. So what’s the moral of the story? Be yourself without making listeners feel like you’re in a can. Constantly ask, “Do I sound natural?” Be confident without forcing it. If you’re taping yourself during a podcast such as Facebook Live. Someone’s being cheated on. Viewers want to be looked at and listeners need you to talk to them. You can try to do both. But it sounds like it. Besides, those that Facebook live it have the worst microphones! Most of the time you can barely hear the conversation. Don’t be just the performer. Be greater in post production.

Composer Fil Eisler takes some time to discuss two of his recent projects with CHiPs and Newtown. Fil talks about his unique path to film composing and how his love of playing in bands meshed with orchestral music. We dive into Newtown which revolves around the Sandy Hook tragedy. Fil discusses the role of documentary filmmaking and how it can help start a conversation about an important subject such as gun control. We also discuss CHiPs and how Fil worked with director Dax Shephard to create a score with both band elements and orchestral action. The whole goal of CHiPs was to stay away from the conventional "studio rock" sound that is in modern R-rated comedies these days. Fil is one of our favorite guests and it was so great to have him back to catch up on his recent projects.
