This week, Slate culture writer Nadira Goffe fills in for Julia. The panel begins by discussing Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One, Tom Cruise's latest romp against rogue A.I. Then, the trio review Wham!, a bittersweet and perhaps hollow documentary following the ‘80s English pop duo's rise to fame. Then, they explore Spill, a new image-based platform claiming to be the next “Black Twitter” and its role in the current social media landscape. In the exclusive Slate Plus segment, the panel discusses the lost art of handwriting, inspired by this piece in The Atlantic: “How Handwriting Lost Its Personality” by Rachel Gutman-Wei. Email us at culturefest@slate.com. Endorsements: Nadira: Adele's tribute to George Michael — The singer's performance of “Fastlove” at the 2017 Grammy's is far from perfect, but it's exactly those flaws and her raw emotion that makes this rendition so moving. Also, NewJeans! Nadira adores this shapeshifting K-pop girl group and the ways they evoke nostalgia using Y2K visuals and hip hop elements. Stream their latest songs “Super Shy” and the self-titled “New Jeans.” (She also likes “Ditto” and “Attention”) Dana: Billie Eilish, “What Was I Made For?” — Longtime Billie Eilish fan, Dana, recommends the pop star's most recent music video, which was directed by Eilish and beautifully captures the melancholy of a doll's role. It's also a bit of free promotion for the upcoming Barbie film, which uses “What Was I Made For” in its final scenes. Stephen: George Michael, “Waiting for That Day” — Stephen will never forget the day when he, free from the bias against Wham! and pop music he grew up with, finally realized that George Michal was a musical genius. This song about loss and an inherent sadness is especially moving. Outro music: Adele's tribute to George Michael at the 2017 Grammys. Podcast production by Jessamine Molli. Fast love with a Narcissist tends to spoil quickly Welcome my channel! If this is your first time seeing my face or hearing my voice, my name is Lee and I am a self aware narcissist. I have narcissistic personality disorder ( NPD ) and I've been in therapy for my personality disorder since 2017 and it has definitely changed my life because without it, I would have lost everything. The point of these videos is to help bring awareness from the other side of the narcissistic *buse spectrum. All my videos give perspective on why many narcissists do what they do and the possible different reasons behind them. The victims and survivors get validation and the Narcissists (those that are willing) get to see that you can get help and that you are not alone. In the final scene of Viva Las Vegas, Elvis and Ann Margaret stand in front of a wood-framed chapel, happily married, running out into the street as the credits roll. Nearly 60 years later, you can get married at that very same church -- by Elvis. Well, a fake Elvis. Numerous spur of the moment nuptials would solidify Las Vegas as the capital of fast love. Known for the quickie wedding and... the quickie divorce. Did you know Ria Gable (Clark Gable's ex) escaped to a Nevada divorce ranch? Or that divorce ranches were even a thing? BIOGRAPHY Mike Church Biography – “Too Catholic For Satellite Radio” In May of 2015, Chris Ferrara wrote a bio pic essay on a talk-radio host who was then completely unknown to Catholic, talk-radio fans. The Mike Church Interview: A Remarkable Conversion to Tradition Changes the Face of Political Talk Radio Featured Chris wrote of me back then, words that were too kind but serve as a basis for this biography. Indeed, over the past year or so Mike Church has emerged as the only traditionally Catholic conservative in talk radio today, anywhere in the world. And I mean traditional. Not only during my appearances on the show, but now thematically, Mike has turned the longest running political talk show on Sirius Radio into an unabashed presentation of the Social Kingship of Christ, traditional Catholic moral teaching, and even the traditional Latin liturgy as the solution to what is evidently otherwise a terminal civilizational crisis. I have been invited on the show numerous times to defend all of these things explicitly, to speak of the one true Church, and even to call upon conservative Protestants to enter the Church if they are serious about saving our nation and our civilization. From there, on October 26, 2015, my 13 year run on Sirius Satellite Radio came to a close when my contract was not renewed. Chris would follow the above bio with an updated one titled, The Mike Church Show – Too Catholic For Satellite Radio. MIKE CHURCH BIOGRAPHY FACTS Born, February 2nd, New Orleans Begun talk-radio in 1992, WSLA, Slidell LA, I have been off air a total of 7 months since. Launched the Sirius Satellite Radio service as its FIRST – LIVE talk-show on 10 March, 2003. Promoted to Morning Drive on the SiriusXM Patriot Channel, May 2009, the 3rd most listened to show on the platform From July 2007 – present, founded Founding Father Films, wrote, produced, narrated and directed 9, full length audio features, two that made it to DVD! Returned to the Roman Catholic Church's Tridentine Mass and Tradition in 2013. Consecrated to Our Lady via de Montfort's formula in December 2014. I had been planning for SiriusXM to “whack me” since 2012 and had laid the structural groundwork for the next step in my career: launching the Veritas Radio Network and The CRUSADE Channel. On November 1st, 2015, in a video webcast for the press, I announced the VRN and that on November 15th, the Mike Church Show would be silent no more and would return to the air, this time on a platform custom built for LIVE talk radio. Smaller Government is Better! Avoid the Chastisement! It's your hitchhiker's guide to faux conservative news! Advent Challenge
Brooklyn trio Upper Wilds features Dan Friel (ex-Parts & Labor) on guitar, vocals, and effects, bassist Jason Binnick, and drummer Jeff Ottenbacher and is really exceptional at making fuzzy-noisy songs with big pop riffs, usually concealed within explosive sonic textures. They've now released the third in a series of albums about the planets, Venus, and the band is continuing their way further out as they go, planning to release a seven inch when they get to Pluto. Friel confides that he's still learning how to be a singer-songwriter after starting with interesting and possibly noisy textures. He prefers using the open tunings of Glenn Branca, tremolo picking, and effects that can ring and chime forever. Friel says that the lyrics just write themselves, themed around the planet named for the god of love, which also happens to be a “backwards-spinning hellscape that melts every camera we send there…” Hear through the noise to the melodies as Upper Wilds plays very fast love songs from Venus, remotely from their practice space. - Caryn Havlik Set List: “Love Song #5,” “Love Song #3,” “Love Song #1” Watch "Love Song #5": Watch "Love Song #3": Watch "Love Song #1":

Participação Gabie Fernandes do podcast "Só Ouço Falar". Label: Capitol 3056Year: 1955Condition: M-Price: $24.00This great tune was Faron Young's first #1 Country hit. This original 1955 pressing has brilliant, pristine sound. The great B side, an early songwriting credit for a young George Jones, was also a "jukebox" hit. By the way, this was a non-album single. (Young's first album wasn't until 1957, and it didn't include these tracks.) Note: This beautiful copy comes in a vintage Capitol Records factory sleeve. It has Near Mint labels and vinyl, and, as noted, pristine Mint audio.

Love & Sex: Sex can be meaningful even if we aren’t in love with the other person. Sometimes we try to convince ourselves we feel more than we do in order to justify having sex with someone. Yet, sex for the sake of sex can be very satisfying (and often quite necessary!). However, if we want to be able to experience sex in a deep and meaningful way, then we need to come from a space of self-love. Because how we treat sex is truly a measure of how connected we are to ourselves.https://www.karmasmybitch.com/fast-love
Reset is about recommitting ourselves to the practices that, time and time again, have drawn men and women of faith closer to God. It's a time to set our focus. To get ready for all that God has in store. Pray. Fast. Love. It's time to recenter. Refocus. Renew. Reset.
Download this ep / Before you go-go / So you can listen to it / On the road-road! We don't wanna say how quickly we'll get to our #1 pick, but along the way, there will be some Fastlove ... /// Our theme song for this episode is "Can't You See" by Skylar Spence off of his debut album PROM KING (Carpark Records). You used to call her on her cellphone, but you don’t anymore because she doesn’t have one. That’s right, the Russell Books series of the On Being Animals podcast continues with Savannah and she chose to learn about her spirit animal: the Onion Fast Love Horn. If your favourite part of this podcast is when we go on tangents and don’t talk about the animal, then this is the episode for you! You’ve been waiting 40+ episodes and we’ve finally delivered tangents on tangents. It may even be more icing than cake. This means we left a couple of Onion Fast Love Horn facts on the table, but luckily we figured out why you need to put a banana in your first aid kit. We also discover how much Savannah can eat in one sitting, what we should spend our tax return money on, and how to almost make it to the NHL. We also debate the merits of head banging. You name it, we covered it. Most Egregious errors: Savannah claims that cheetahs have 3000 spots, but they have 2000, I say gene when I should be saying chromosome, and we both fail miserably to solve the simplest of math problems. Oh, and to clarify, “Wild America” is comedy film starring Jonathan Taylor Thomas. It is based on the real life person Martin Luther Stouffer Jr. who has been fined hundreds of thousands of dollars for setting up illegal hunting camps. So, fuck that guy, right? Science level: surprisingly high, we talk about the how colour blindness is inherited and there is a sizzling fluid dynamics joke at some point.

Today we speak to Annabelle Vaughan of law firm Coffin Mew about the ramifications of the PC Paul’s Briggs case and the ruling that doctors should stop providing life-support treatment to the police officer who has been in a minimally conscious state since 2015. Today’s first track is the beautiful melodic Do You by Miguel. Joy comes from Tracey Thorn's Christmas album. A notable factor in the runaway success of the Red Hot Chili Peppers' "Give It Away" won Grammys at and plaudits for its iconic video black and white video pop promo. In honour of the life of work of George Michael, we end the show with my favourite of his tracks Fast Love. The 1996 track features echoes of the Patrice Rushen hit "Forget Me Nots". So, with a heavy heart but determined focus, we set out to remaster and reimagine a dance tribute mix that would do justice to his extensive repertoire and undeniable influence on music and pop culture. Starting from scratch, we meticulously remastered each song, whether it was slated for inclusion or not, dedicating two full days to this labor of love. The end result? A tribute that can only be described as 'Flawless.' Back in 2010, the original tribute had an extra dose of compression, primarily due to the track 'As,' George Michael's duet with Mary J. Blige. Thanks to Jonathan Peters' mastering techniques, the song could practically blow a hole in the ceiling. It set the tone for the whole mix back then, especially when earbuds were not as advanced as they are today. But times have changed, and so have audio capabilities. That gave us the freedom to achieve a balanced and more nuanced sound. Let's talk about some gems in the tribute. Take "I Want Your Sex 2010 (Freemasons Club Mix)," for instance. The Freemasons bring a modern electro flair to this '80s classic, delivering a robust bassline that's impossible to ignore. And then there's the "Fast Love (2002 Illicit Remix)." With this version, the Illicit team reinvents George Michael's hit by infusing fresh beats and rhythms, making it perfect for today's dance floors. Don't overlook the "Outside (Hex Hector 12'' Vox Up Mix)," a song with a history. After his public outing following an arrest, George Michael embraced his identity and turned the incident into this empowering track. Hex Hector's remix elevates it to new heights, making it a dance floor anthem for the ages. Wham! classics like "I'm Your Man (Division 4 Club Mix)" and "Everything She Wants (Todd Terry Mix)" also find their rightful place in the mix. They're not just nostalgic trips; these remixes celebrate George Michael's beginnings while anchoring them firmly in contemporary dance music. In closing, we hope this tribute captures not just the breadth of George Michael's musical prowess, but also the depth of his influence and the complexity of his legacy. RIP George. You will be sorely missed. [1963 - 2016]. Until the next time...ENJOY! Album George Michael Tribute pt. 2 Genre: House Year: 2016 Total Time: 1:57:53.00 1. Star People '97 (Forthright Club Mix) 2. For now, we don't let the shit news of the week keep us down. Instead, we get LOUDER and PROUDER making our voices heard! IT'S TIME TO CELEBRATE with some modern gay pride anthems for a new generation of revelers! Happy Pride Everybody! Album : Gay Anthems for a New Generation Genre : Funky House, Disco, House Music Year : 2016 Total Time : 01:18:55 Mathieu Koss - Need Your Lovin' (Original Mix) Gorgon City feat. Jennifer Hudson - Go All Night (Extended Mix) Gloria Gaynor - I Will Survive (Antony Fennel Club Mix) Daft Punk - Around The World (Richard Earnshaw & Mike Scot 2012 Re-Edit) Me & My Toothbrush - Air Miles (Original Mix) Duke Dumont feat. Jax Jones - I Got U (Wayne G Throwback Remake) Clean Bandit - Real Love (Extended Mix) Alex Newell (with Jess Glynne & DJ Cassidy feat. Niles Rodgers) - Kill The Lights (Dimitri From Paris Remix) Diana Ross - I'm Coming Out (Integer Bootleg) Dave Aude & Crazibiza feat. Vassy - Hustlin' (Original Mix) Shannon - Let The Music Play (DJ Pantelis Remix) Vicetone - Hawt Stuff (Original Mix) Alien Disco Sugar - 2 B Real (Original) Croatia Squad feat. Lika Morgan - Make Your Move (Original Mix) George Michael - Fast Love (Tony Moran Dance Sleaze Remix) Madonna - Holiday (Fare Soldi Remix)
The opening song has been updated to the fantastic Need Your Lovin' by Mathieu Koss, which heavily samples the early 80's one hit wonder Everybody's Got to Learn Sometime by the Korgis. As we claw our way towards the end of the week, I thought I'd go ahead and post the final Pride Classics for 2016. Gay Anthems for a New Generation is quite a bit different from the last four circuit classics sets I just posted in that it focus' on the future while reaching into the past. It's intended to be a bit reflective with a lot of bouncy fun you'd expect from a Pride celebration. This set draws from future house hits of the past few years (What I Did For Love, Go All Night, I Got U, Real Love, Hustlin') to current hits like the fabulously funky Air Miles by Me & My Toothbrush and the disco hit taken from the HBO series Vinyl, Kill the Lights. Of course the big winners here are modern-day bootleg re-edits of Gloria Gaynor's definitive anthem I Will Survive, Diana Ross' proclamative anthem I'm Coming Out to Madonna's everyday celebratory Holiday. Sandwich these with plain ole fun modern twists of Shannon's Let the Music Play, Vicetone's Hawt Stuff (think Donna Summer), 2 B Real (think Cheryl Lynn), Daft Punk's Around the World and George Michael's Fast Love and you got yourself one big-ass Pride throw-down. It’s been awhile, so I’m giving you more than three hours of continuous music to make up the difference. The new callout drops are courtesy of the Soul Interviews show curated by DJ Soulswede and broadcast on SkyNet satellite radio and Solar Radio on the net. My lil podcast has a special 30-minute mix on the show that you should be checking out. For this mix, I chose the best songs from our radio show. As usual, we’ve got a lil bit of everything on the soul spectrum (all but one special selection was released this millennium), this time broken up by sections, thanks to the drops, making it easier to skip around for a certain sound you’re looking for or you can just listen straight through and relax in my musical hands. Don’t forget to subscribe on Podomatic or iTunes and tell your friends that the LMG: The Soul Eclectics’ Mix, proves good music is still alive and well, if not always on the radio.
