Meghan Telpner is a Toronto-based author, speaker, nutritionist, and founder of the Academy of Culinary Nutrition. She's written two bestselling books: UnDiet: Eat Your Way to Vibrant Health and The UnDiet Cookbook. Meghan's success in cultivating a global community of UnDiet enthusiasts and Culinary Nutrition Experts has garnered her a feature in Forbes, and ranked her as one of the top 100 female entrepreneurs in Canada. For more visit MeghanTelpner.com. I asked Meghan to come on the podcast to share the birth of her son with regulated midwives. I was feeling very called to have Meghan share her honest experiences that unfolded with regulated midwives and how her vision of a nourishing birth became jeopardized by the systems need to control her sons arrival and "due date". Meghan is someone who over the last few years has really stepped into a place of sovereignty for her family and uses her platform to speak openly about the ways we can love, heal and nourish ourselves without being manipulated or feared by systems. Her birth story is still raw for her in many respects, but she is very honest and open and I loved our time connecting. May you enjoy. Learning to cook was an important step in ending my food battle. And then post-Truce with Food, I found myself less interested in food, cooking included. Cooking became “assembling”. We still ate most of our meals at home; it just became some version of frozen vegetable, rice and chicken, give or take some garlic powder. Meh but manageable. Then we became new, sleep-deprived parents and COVID hit. Cooking was important but even less of a priority. I knew when I did have the time and energy, I enjoyed cooking if it was simple and delicious. How could I get back to a place where cooking was sustainable, simple and enjoyable? I asked Meghan Telpner, founder of the Academy of Culinary Nutrition, to help sort out the jumble of feelings many of us feel towards cooking. Sometimes cooking feels like a chore. And sometimes it fills our soul. How can we make cooking and the food we eat more satisfying? In this episode, Meghan shares: 1. Easy ways to incorporate the flavors and foods that reduce and eliminate cravings for super sugary and salty foods. 2. How the more sugar or salt we eat, the more we want (and how this interferes with feeling satiated from lesser amounts of sugar and salt). 3. An experiment to really get what sugar or salt is doing to your taste buds and body. 4. Why the act of cooking is so fulfilling to our bodies and how knowing this makes me more excited to cook more. 5. Easy ways to incorporate texture and smells, which influence our food satisfaction.

Not dissimilar to a lot of health professionals, Meghan found nutrition and a love for cooking slightly out of necessity. When she was in her early 20s, she was headed down the corporate path, and pretty stressed out. At that time, her doctor also diagnosed her with crohn's disease. Armed with the knowledge that she would never be rid of the disease - according to Western medicine - Meghan decided to do her own research and investigation. That led her to sign up for nutrition school and subsequently, she went from not really knowing how to cook, to learning how to properly nourish her body. Because of the changes she infused into her life, she no longer suffers from crohn's. That experience taught her that food is our natural healer, and if we learn how to create meals that work on an individual level, we can heal ourselves from the inside out. She's now released two popular books, been in business for over 10 years, built up her company from a solopreneurship to one that has multiple employees and has one of the most successful culinary programs on the internet with thousands of students signing up each year. To say she's found her calling, is an understatement.

Welcome to episode 56 of the Food Blogger Pro podcast! In this episode, Bjork talks with Megan Telpner about creating a business, staying small, and finding the work you should be doing. Meghan Telpner is the CEO of the Academy of Culinary Nutrition, an online school where students learn to create healthy lives through cooking. I get diet books in the mail all the time. No, I don't have some kind of online shopping fetish for diet books. People just send them to me. Unsolicited. As a matter of fact, it's a well-known fact in the health and nutrition industry that one of the fastest ways to "make a buck" is to write and sell a diet book. It plays on the psychology that people are constantly looking for next answer to the diet that's not currently working for them. Or they're bored. Or have grass-is-always-greener syndrome. Anyhow, as you can imagine, I was quite pleased when I received an undieting book in the mail last week. , which includes a plan for an 8-week transformation and more than 35 delicious gluten-free, plant-based recipes. Meghan Telpner, the author of is a Toronto-based author, speaker, and nutritionist. She used to have Crohn's disease, but after throwing up her hands in frustration at the way the modern medical system was trying to heal her, and instead embarking upon her own path of healing, she's fixed her gut, and learned quite a bit about food, exercise, and psychology along the way. If you find yourself constantly caught up in new diets... ....or you deal with stress constantly damaging your gut... ...or you have Crohn's or some other kind of gut issue... ...or you look good on the outside but feel like crap on the inside... ...then this episode is a must-listen for you. In it, you'll discover: -The exact steps Meghan used (after nearly having her colon removed from debilitating Crohn's disease) healed her entire gut in just 4 weeks... -Why you should learn to cook, even if you have someone or some service who can do all the healthy cooking for you... -What to do when you see a food, or a workout, or some other activity and it just doesn't "feel right"... -Why Meghan thinks yoga is harder than a stairclimber or a high-intensity workout... -Why a cute outfit doesn't mean much if you feel like total crappola... -How you can get around the awkwardness of questioning paradigms, and being "that person" at a dinner party who perhaps doesn't use a microwave or drinks green smoothies... -In the end, the most important question to ask yourself when it comes to "undieting"... -And much more! Resources from this episode: -Book Ben mentions early in episode: -Another book Ben mentions: Do you have questions, comments or feedback about how to quit dieting? Leave your thoughts at and either Meghan or I will reply!

Meghan Telpner is a Toronto-based author, speaker, nutritionist, and founder of the Academy of Culinary Nutrition. I started reading her blog back in 2009 when it was called Making Love in the Kitchen. While you can now find her at MeghanTelpner.com, she's still an advocate for vibrant living and her positivity is absolutely infectious! Meghan's story is incredible! She was diagnosed with Crohn's disease and had been told that medication and surgery were only treatment options. But she felt certain there was another path and within a month of making diet and lifestyle changes, Meghan was system free. We had an incredible conversation about her healing journey, how to find your own unique path to health, her new cookbook Undiet, and so much more. I also share why talking to Meghan created a big shift for me and how it changed the way I'm approaching my life. Find the show notes at http://www.sarahstarrs.com/podcast/10
