“We are all one phone call away from tragedy or life changing news, and at age 41 I got that call that changed my life. I was told my mom had stage four cancer, and it was very aggressive. Mom urged me to get checked out, and it turned out that genetically I have a 1 in 4 chance of getting cancer. Yikes, well I decided I wasn't going to wait around for it or encourage it with bad eating habits. So I took charge of my life, bought an elliptical & started working out at home. I began researching how to eat healthier and slowly as I gained my confidence I joined a local gym. My husband and I started this together and we both lost 35 pounds. READ MY STORY in DFYNE MAGAZINE.Four years later and I have achieved many of my goals, one step at a time, & in some ways I have exceeded what even I thought I could do! In 2017 I was awarded IFBB Pro status at a National Competition. I'll never forget that day and I know mom was looking down on me and smiling, it was a dream come true. Now I enjoy helping others reach their goals, there is no better feeling to me than getting a phone call from a client in tears saying she lost another pound and can now fit into her favorite little black dress. It's very rewarding, and I love starting people of all ages on their personal fitness journey, for a step towards living their best possible life. The goals and rewards are endless & I look forward to working with you. If I can do this you can too!”

Jillian Fae believes her passion for cooking stems from the fact that she was born and raised in Southern California. The best climate conditions for growing the finest produce all year round and the diverse mix of cuisines have always been an inspiration to her. Her love for and ability to make people happy by way of good food began at an early age and still grows today. She pursued her passion and further sharpened her skills by enrolling in the culinary program at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, California. During her time there, she volunteered for multiple extracurricular activities and charity events, excelled in her class, and was chosen to be a part of the ACF competing student team. After she and her teammates won the state and regional competitions, they went on to the National Competition to win a gold medal. It was after these accomplishments that Jillian established Jillian Fae Chef Services, a personal chef business offering private on-site events as well as weekly in-home meal preparation. The business currently serves most of Southern California and is based out of the city of Temecula. She's dedicated to providing people with the best quality food and best service possible and specializes in creating seasonal menus customized to each individual client's needs and desires. This is one of our “Meet a Member” episodes. You'll learn about her personal chef business. We talk about what she wished she knew before starting a business, and I ask her some fun, rapid-fire questions about food and cooking. This week's show sponsor is Olive & Basket. Join the Talking Pommes and I, as we "Flip the bird" to the Coronavirus! Yes, "feck off" to the virus by signing up now for the upcoming England Cider Tour September 1-6, 2020. 215: Andy Hallett of Hallet Cider | UK Andy Hallett says he choose to become a cidermaker, once he retired from a career as a Mechanical Engineer. As he puts it, it was a choice of creating a lifestyle that he wanted to live, but that would be denying all the roads that led him to cidermaking. Andy Hallett For the most part, his story would be familiar to all who have spent their early drinking years learning to ferment beer, wine and cider. Like so many, Andy began making both beer and cider at 17 with his brother Pete. In college he tried his hand at homemade wines. It was only a matter of time before he entered his cider into a competition and won a bronze medal in a National Competition. That award provided the encouragement to go commercial. The cider brand at the time was named after the farm, Blaengawney Farm, which is Welsh. For non native speakers of this Celtic language “Blaengawney Farm” is a bit difficult to pronounce, which can have an impact on sales. In 2010 it was time to rebranded the cider name from Blaengawney Farm. Andy's last name is “Hallett” with a double t. But the design team didn’t like the look of the double ll and double tt. Despite a bit of grumbling from the family including Andy’s father, he forged ahead and changed the cider brand to Hallet, because as he puts it, “It looked perfect on the label.” Hallet Cider is shipped to Ontario Canada and as far at Japan, so basically around the world. They make 80,000 liters/year. You can order Hallet Cider online at their website. Tell them Cider Chat sent you. To put it simply, he is among the most sought-after artists. Mr. Parker's achievements are both lengthy and impressive. His musical roots can be traced to the Vancouver Academy of Music and the University of British Columbia where he studied with Kum Sing Lee. He then went on and received his Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts at The Juilliard School with Adele Marcus. Dr. Parker continues the teaching tradition as the Rupert E. Edwards Chair in Piano Performance on the music faculty at the University of Toronto. Awards came early and often. Beginning in 1984 with a first prize at the Eckhardt-Gramatté Competition, James served notice that he was a rising star. The CBC competition concurred, selecting him winner of the 25th National Competition for Young Performers. The Virginia Parker Award as the most promising young classical artist soon followed, further solidifying Parker's place as one of Canada's best. He is often invited to the international juries of such competitions as the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition and the Honens International Piano Competition. Concerts given by Dr. Parker consistently garner artistic acclaim. His style has earned him praise as “one of the most searching musical intellects and 10 of the nimblest fingers in the business” according to The Globe and Mail. James has enthralled audiences in North America and Europe, counting diplomats and dignitaries among his receptive audiences. He has made frequent appearances on CBC, and has performed on Bravo!, the CanWest Global Network, MuchMusic and a myriad of stations across the globe. A consummate professional, James is recognized as a soloist, a chamber musician and as the pianist for Canada's foremost ensemble, the Gryphon Trio. Add to this his critically acclaimed performances with major Canadian symphonies like Toronto, Vancouver, Victoria, Quebec City, Edmonton, National Arts Centre, Symphony Nova Scotia and many in between, one is reminded of the scope of his contributions to the national classical music scene. With three JUNO recording awards and many other nominations from his vast discography, James Parker continues to graciously strive to do it all. James Parker is a Steinway Artist. Adriane DeWolfe Horsewoman Extreme Cowboy Racer We first met Adriane DeWolfe at a playday with fellow Downunder Horsemanship friends. it was great getting together with like-minded people to work on our collective horsemanship skills. Adriane was there with her horse Toaster, a mustang. Ranae had brought Dusty and I was working with Scratch. It was clear that Adriane was a serious horsewoman. She worked equally hard on both technique and philosophy. Toaster responded well. Later, we learned it was her first time out with Toaster. While we continued to follow each other on Facebook, it would be some months before we saw Adriane DeWolfe again. Ranae and I thought we would try our hand at Extreme Cowboy Racing. There was a race being held about a 90-minute drive away at Shades of Gold Ranch. Adriane and Toaster were entered in the novice division. When they took the course we saw they had come a long way in a very short time. Adriane kept challenging herself and her horsemanship to get better. It was always a smooth trail. There were many ups and downs. In 2018, she continued Extreme Cowboy Racing and qualified for the National Competition in Glen Rose, Texas. She and Toaster will compete in November of 2018. Adriane DeWolfe bid and won Toaster at the Northern Nevada Correctional Center Wild Horse Training Facility auction. And, her journey to Glen Rose when she pulls into the arena for the EXCA National Finals, has been a long one. It's an inspiration to all recreational horsemen and women. With a little dedication, a lot of hard work, and the love of a good horse, you can reach your goals.
