Welcome to Multiverse News, Your source for Information about all your favorite fictional universes. The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton is in talks to helm the fourth Spider-Man movie for Sony and Marvel Studios. While neither Sony or Marvel have provided a comment at this time, this is in line with previous reports and claims that a fourth Spider-Man film with Tom Holland was being fast-tracked to begin shooting next year. Though he only has one MCU feature under his belt, Cretton is already beginning to feel like a bit of an elder statesman within the Marvel Studios stable of filmmakers, having been previously attached to The Kang Dynasty before it became Avengers: Doomsday and creating the Wonderman series that is in production. Early reviews from Venice Film Festival screenings for Joker: Folie a Deux, the sequel to 2019's Joker, hit the internet last week, with the response to the musical follow-up decidedly mixed. Critics seem divided on the film's uneven tone, with criticisms citing a plodding narrative and underutilization of Lady Gaga. Positive takes celebrated the performances of Phoenix and Gaga, as well as Philips' direction. In a July 2024 interview, Kevin Fiege confirmed more Marvel Studios Special Presentations, like Werewolf By Night and the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, were on the way, with one actively in production at the time– sounds like old news, but now, Marvel Head of Streaming, Television and Animation Brad Winderbaum, doubled down on the promise while speaking with Comicbook.com. Previously, Feige detailed that the Special Presentation wouldn't air in 2025, but 2026, though Winderbaum's answer seems to insinuate it could be sooner. James Earl Jones, the legendary actor known for his iconic baritone as Darth Vader in Star Wars, died Monday at his Dutchess County, N.Y. home. He was 93. Warner Brothers has released the trailer for A Minecraft Movie, starring Jack Black and Jason Momoa and directed by Jared Hess. The game-based film premieres in theaters on April 4, 2025. Ahead of the main Emmy Awards scheduled for Sunday, September 15, last weekend saw the Creative Arts Emmy Awards ceremony held at downtown Los Angeles' Peacock Theater, where the FX network enjoyed an incredibly successful evening. With 14 wins, Shogun broke the record for a single season of television, while The Bear took home 7 awards as well. Notable wins include The Dark Knight's Nestor Carbonell as the best guest actor for his role as the Portuguese merchant Rodrigues, and Jamie Lee Curtis for best guest actress in a comedy series for her appearance in The Bear, her first Emmy win. Alison Brie has been cast as a key villain role of Evil-Lyn in Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel Films' live-action take on Masters of the Universe. Only Murders in the Building has been renewed for season five. Currently, season four is dropping weekly episodes on Hulu every Tuesday, leading up to the finale on October 29. Netflix has greenlit the long-rumored Twilight animated series, now in production. Based on Stephenie Meyer's Midnight Sun, it retells Twilight from Edward Cullen's perspective. In a deleted blog post, Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin criticized creative choices in House of the Dragon's second season, hinting at future posts addressing issues. HBO responded, citing the need for "difficult choices" due to the scope of Martin's work. A Reacher spinoff is in development at Amazon Prime, with showrunner Nick Santora writing. The series is expected to focus on Frances Neagley, played by Maria Sten. In a PEOPLE interview, Michael Keaton revealed his real name is Michael Douglas, but he had to change it when joining SAG-AFTRA in the 1970s. Now, he plans to use a hybrid name, Michael Keaton Douglas, for future projects.

#9: Bootstrapper gets practical funding before getting acquired for $22 million - Nick Santora

Nick Santora bootstrapped Curricula for 4 years with his co-founders before raising $3M in practical funding and then getting acquired in 2022 for $22 million. Nick and his co-founders quit their jobs to build innovative story-based education courses and a single-purpose learning platform for cybersecurity security awareness training. Nick had found a big hole in the cybersecurity market while working as a cybersecurity trainer in the electric utility industry. Curricula features fun and engaging training content, which was the opposite of the typical "death by Powerpoint" training that users ignored. Now Curricula is a powerful platform that allows companies to create their own engaging content and then measure custom training results. When they almost ran out of cash before revenues grew, Nick says. "I would do anything I could do to keep this heartbeat going instead of getting an investor to run our future. Once that starts happening, I knew it was going to start cascading into desperation. And I wanted to hold the cards in our hands as long as we could." In this episode, Nick explains: How he saw this problem as a cybersecurity trainer in the electric utility industry How he and his cofounders quit their jobs to build this platform while living on savings and no salary What happened when they ran out of money three times while pivoting and experimenting to find their growth path How they used freemium PLG tactics to compete with an aggressive competitor who had raised $80 million in VC funding How his last-ditch promotion test with LinkedIn advertising created their primary efficient customer acquisition tactic Why he didn't raise money from VCs but instead raised from a practical investor who had grown and sold a bootstrapped company Check out all our podcast episodes at https://practicalfounders.com.

Welcome to Five & Thrive: a weekly podcast highlighting the Southeast's most interesting news, entrepreneurs, and information of the week, all under 5 minutes.  My name is Jon Birdsong and I'm with Atlanta Ventures.  -- Company Coming Up:  Nectar, a TechStars Atlanta 21' company, helps real estate entrepreneurs scale with cash flow financing. Here is how it works: accredited investors invest in the Nectar Fund that yield 12-15% annual dividends. Nectar finds and works with the best and most proven short term rental entrepreneurs to help them grow their real estate portfolio and operation. These real estate investors are mostly proven AirBnB hosts with over 3 years of operating experience. This company is led by two Co-founders, Brittany Mosley and Derrick Barker. Both are Harvard graduates with extensive real estate and finance background. Keep an eye out for this company coming up and check out their website linked in the show notes.    Product of the Week:  This week we're highlighting Saleo led by Justin McDonald. Saleo empowers sales reps to build interactive and customized demos. As sales reps across the world give demos of their company's product, it is really hard to deliver an accurate, customized demo filled with rich data without the help of an engineer – which is timely and expensive. Saleo's software fixes this. There are several companies spawning in this early market and Saleo is making a fantastic splash with their entry. They recently raised their seed round. This market is one to follow in the upcoming months and years.      Events To Put on the Calendar:  The Jewish Business Network is hosting some top notch folks on July 25th at Chabad Intown, right across the street from Ponce City Market. Investors from Phoenix Capital, Overline, Joule, and Overtime will be sharing their thoughts and perspectives on the current state of fundraising and valuations. It is $18 to attend and the link is in the show notes.     Companies Worth Applying To: We mentioned them in episode one, but I just caught up with Ty Abernethy of Grayscale and they are hiring for senior positions in just about every category: VP of Sales, VP of Marketing, VP of Product, and more. Grayscale improves recruiting with SMS. Customers including Amazon, Wayfair, and hundreds of others use them to streamline communication with applicants and maintain a tight process when it comes to recruiting in high-volume industries.    Another early stage company hiring in Customer Success is TruckerCloud. This company is led by their CEO, Spencer Mitchell, and originated out of the Rule1 Ventures Studio. TruckerCloud connects any fleets' Electronic Logging Device (or ELD) data to any application with the use of their API. The product is scaling and customer success is needed. Give them search and click.        Acquisitions in the Air: It was announced this week that Nick Santora, the CEO of Curricula, sold his company to Huntress, the managed security platform for SMB's. Nick and his team started Curricula back in 2015 as a security awareness training platform. Instead of the boring, check the box, traditional training software, Nick focused on fun, storytelling techniques, to captivate employees' attention and provide a superior education. In early 2020, they raised $3M and have grown the team and customers ever since. What started as a one man show out of the Atlanta Tech Village has now grown to a $22M exit. Impressive and exciting for Nick and the entire Curricula team. He wrote a thorough and heartfelt post on the translation that I encourage all who are listening to read.    Annnnd, that's 5 minutes.   Thank you for listening to Five and Thrive. We provide 5 minutes of quality information, so you can thrive in the upcoming week. Based on Lee Child's popular series of Jack Reacher novels, the franchise was previously adapted into an action film starring Tom Cruise. I'm your host Nikhil, Let's kickoff some trivia now.Alan Ritchson went through all of Lee Child's 24 novels on Jack Reacher as a way to prepare for his role in the series. Prior to the filming of the series, Alan Ritchson weighed 205lbs but still had to increase by 30lbs to fit the look of the gigantic figure of Jack Reacher. In order to achieve that, Ritchson was provided with a continuous supply of food on set. Oddly, the showrunner Nick Santora never once met Alan Ritchson (the main star of the series) or writer Lee Child in person. This is quite unconventional for a show of such a sizable budget and production value. Crucial processes of design, casting, even writing, were done over zoom calls. In fact, Santora was yet to meet Ritchson and Child face-to-face at the time of the first season's premiere on Amazon Prime. Author Lee Child, on whose Jack Reacher novels the show is based, himself makes a blink-and-miss cameo appearance on Reacher. He plays a man who briefly exchanges glances with Alan Ritchson's Jack Reacher while he's entering the diner in the final moments of the first season. Child had also made appearances in the Tom Cruise films. The novels depict Reacher as being in the languages English, French  and German. He speaks or understands no other language, as per the novels. However, in the series  in the seventh episode, Reacher is seen interacting fluently in Arabic with a cab driver. The casting of Tom Cruise for the 2012 film was met with backlash as Cruise's height  5'7” and 79 kgs frame was significantly smaller than Lee Child's description of the character with a bulking physique of 6'5”tall and 113 kgs. However, the new Jack Reacher, Alan Ritchson,  stands at 6'2” and is closer in appearance to the character created by Lee Child. Lee Child dedicated an entire paragraph in the novels to describe Jack Reacher's unique footwear, describing even the finest of details, including the material, stitching, thickness, sole, size, color, and style. But in the new series he is shown to wear generic boots without any attention to detail provided by the creators. If you haven't watched the series Reacher yet do so the newest episodes are streaming on Amazon Prime Video.Well that's the OTTplay Now You Know for today's episode, I shall be back again with a new podcast pretty soon, until then it's your Host Nikhil signing out.Aaj kya dekhoge OTTplay se poocho.

Created in the 70s by Gerry Conway (writer) with John Romita Sr and Ross Andru, (artists), this 2008 incarnation is directed by Lexi Alexander with script credits to Nick Santora, Art Marcum and Matt Holloway. The film follows Frank Castle (Ray Stevenson) as he kills his way through the criminal underworld all the while trying to protect the widow of an undercover federal agent and the agent's little girl safe from Jigsaw and Loony Bin Jim. Some absolutely bonkers, over the top violence round out this very fun but brutal film. The film's runtime is 1 hour and 43 minutes and is rated R. Please note there are SPOILERS in this review. Nick Santora is the founder and CEO at Curricula. Curricula is a cyber security company that helps teach other companies how to not get hacked. The Curricula team develops short animated stories that teach organizations and their people about cyber security. The Aware platform tracks the entire learner experience including analytics on learner behaviors. Curricula’s mission is to put an end to “death by PowerPoint” by providing a turn key cyber security educational experience for its customers. Nick founded Curricula after a 7 year career at the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) as their cyber security advisor. As the federal regulatory for our nation's power grid, Nicks role at NERC was to help ensure the security and reliability of the power grid in North America as well as advise utility organization on the threats and vulnerabilities relating to cyber security. Nick holds a Bachelor in Computer Information Systems as well as an MBA from Rider University. He is an accredited CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) as well as CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor).   MISSION: Nick shares the story of just what sparked the idea for Curricula. It was during a meeting with someone who has major responsibility for our nation’s power grid that he realized how disengaged the organization was from their annual security training. Knowing the power of stories and gamification, he saw an opportunity to more powerfully deliver this important content.   MINDSET: Don’t burn bridges, but burn the boats… Nick is all-in on Curricula. Listen as we discuss just what going all in does for your mindset and likelihood of success.   MARKETING: Curricula is an education platform that is gaining fast momentum because their team understands that how you deliver the message is just as important as the message itself. With a focus on visual branding, story-telling, and good-old-fashioned-face-to-face-networking, they are picking up great momentum at an early stage.   MASTERMINDS: Curricula is comprised of a virtual team living across the country, which makes community and culture even more of a priority. For Nick, joining Atlanta Tech Village allows him to work alongside like-minded startup founders to get new ideas and encouragement.   MASTERMIND CHALLENGE: Are you sharing your story? During our convo, Nick and I chatted about how stories engage an audience on a much deeper level. Take some time to think of how you are telling your story, especially the aspects that inspire the work you do today. You may find that rather than telling people what you do, telling them how you got here lays the foundation for a deeper connection and opens new doors for opportunity.
