"Number 2 is not an option", sagt Heliane Canepa.

They are close to record highs on gold and palladium. With those high precious metal prices, you are paying a high cost for your alloys. We know that you are using less Precious metal in your lab these days, but if you send in half of what you sent in 5 years ago ,your scrap return will be higher than it was 5 years ago ,because of the high PM prices . You owe it to yourself to find a trusted, reputable refining company. Look no further! Kulzer refining (https://www.kulzerus.com/en_us/en_us/heraeuspreciousmetalsrefining/scraprefining.aspx) has been tested, trusted and reputable for over 100 years. They burn, melt and assay all under one roof at their state-of-the-art refining facility in Wartburg Tennessee. They have doubled their production capacity to ensure your scrap return within 2 weeks. With all the non-precious material that has become present in today's restorations it is important that we ensure the assay sample is homogenous. At Kulzer (https://www.kulzerus.com/en_us/en_us/home_9/home.aspx), they take the extra step to X-ray the top and bottom after they melt the bar to make sure the precious metal percentages--- are the same. We really like what Nobel Biocare is doing for the dental industry. This company thinks outside the box and isn’t afraid to question all the “tried-and-true” practices we’ve been comfortable using for decades. But it’s time for a change, and Dr. Scott MacLean, an international lecturer for Nobel Biocare, is on The Dental Slang Podcast to talk about the new era in dentistry. Scott calls the changes coming to the dental industry a “renaissance.” He specializes in dental implants, and he’s sharing some big news about the new procedures, tools, and products we can expect to see over the next few months. More importantly, he’s sharing this amazing news on social media, a marketing niche many dentists haven’t quite figured out yet. So, while Scott talks to us about implantology, he also lets us in on how he uses social media to share dentistry’s latest tools and techniques. Scott’s social media strategy stresses how important content is, and he tells us which tools and apps he uses to create stellar content. Scott’s been making videos since 2007, so he knows a thing or two about what people are looking for. His content mainly answers the burning questions he himself had about dentistry, as well as the questions he hears from students and colleagues during his lectures. You’ll find out how this natural curiosity fuels his social media campaigns, and why it’s important to pay attention to what people are asking and talking about. It’s time to rethink the traditional dental paradigm, and sharing and learning from one another online is one of the best ways to do that. We can be great resources for one another, and the questions we ask, as well as how we ask them, can be inspiring. Scott is one mentor you don’t want to miss out on. So, tune in now to hear all about the New Age of Dentistry and the ways you can be part of it. In This Episode You Will Learn: How to use Instagram to connect with patients 5:20 Easy strategies to use on Instagram and other social media platforms 6:08 The new drilling protocol for dental implants 11:48 The biggest mistakes dentists make when it comes to studying dentistry 14:45 Some of the newest slang I’ve picked up in different dental offices 18:25 The new tools and tech Nobel Biocare is creating for dentists 25:02 Some Questions We Discuss: How long has Scott been using YouTube? 3:27 What is Nobel Biocare’s definition of micro-integration? 7:30 Why is it so important to use your real name on Instagram? 12:40 Do you know where the phrase “bite the bullet” came from? 17:30 What are some of Scott’s favorite dental slang phrases? 19:08 What does Scott think about the future of podcasting? 27:03 Resources: Visit our website: www.DentalSlang.com Connect with us on Facebook: Dental Slang Dr. Scott’s YouTube channel: smmaclean Dr. Scott’s Instagram: @drscottmaclean iMovie app Nobel Biocare Seattle Study Club

In this episode, I start by discussing briefly the existence of the AAOMS white paper on prescribing opioids responsibly. Specifically, I discuss an article in the AAOMS Today publication that goes over CPT and CDT coding guidelines. Using an opioid-sparing technique in your office is expensive and has a significant financial impact. Knowing the proper codes and the ins and outs of these codes from both a medical dental and hcpcs perspective will help you realize when you can get reimbursement and how you can get reimbursement for using things such as Dexamethasone Toradol and Exparel. I then deviate sharply to briefly discuss the Trefoil system introduced by Nobel Biocare at the AAOMS meeting this fall. I think you will find this episode enlightening, helpful and financially rewarding. I also chat about a new business on Amazon that my daughter and I started. Search BWM VENTURE to see these products are what we are selling and if you feel so inclined feel free to purchase them and leave an honest review. Reviews are incredibly difficult to obtain on Amazon and a very important for the algorithm. It would be incredibly helpful for her to have these reviews. I would love some feedback so please feel free to email me at info@dentistbraincandy.com

Per Ahlberg, CEO of Per Capita AB, discusses Sweden's different approach to dentistry. I am a Web-entrepreneur that has now worked in 10 years within the dentistry in Sweden. I am now working in my own company Per Capita AB together with some of the most dental skilled people, institutions and companies. 2008 I founded www.Dental24.se. In 2010 I was nominated to The Web Entrepreneur of the year by InternetWorld, a leading Internet magazine in Sweden. I am born and live in Gothenburg on west coast of Sweden in the same town as professor P-I Brånemark who invented the implant for 50 years ago and where professor Jan Lindhe lives. In 2005-2008 I happened to work with the Brånemark implants, Procera and CAD/CAM solutions as Sales Manager for Nobel Biocare. Now I share corridor with a Nobel Prize winner in Medicine professor Arvid Carlsson at Sahlgrenska Science Park in Gothenburg. Before my job at Nobel Biocare I worked 10 years (1989-1999) as Sales & Marketing Manager for Novartis/Ciba Vision, a pharmaceutical and contact lens manufacture and in the IT industry for Oracle as Major Account Manager. In the mid 70th I was a foreign exchange student in San Jose, California. What I do today is to combine many of my skills in the dental industry. I also try to educate everyone that works professionally with dentistry in using modern technology and “thinking digital” (CAD/CAM incl. scanning, CBCT, digital documentation, communication, content marketing, etc.). Today Dental24 is a leading dental forum in Sweden that most dental people read and visit regular. I spend my days wondering, why isn’t the digital paradigm shift is going faster in dental health? For me it’s clear not only what will happen in the future but what is already happening right now. I think it might have to do with the mindset of key opinion leaders. Sometime we need use more multidisciplinary knowledge within dentistry. www.dental24.se per.ahlberg@dental24.se
Kristin Lind AKA kalinjax discusses how she got started on YouTube, the psychological effects of tooth loss, and closing the communication gap between dentist and patient. My name is Kristi but most know me as Kalinjax. I am a stay at home mom of four in Jacksonville, FL. After years of struggling with major tooth decay which affected me both physically and mentally, I decided to do something about it. I had all of my teeth extracted and received dentures from Coastal Dental in December of 2010. There was no other option for me, as my teeth could not be saved and I could not afford implants. Shortly after getting my new dentures, I started a channel on YouTube, which turned into an "all about dentures" channel over time. On January 1, 2013, I won a contest hosted by Dr. Golpa's Dental Implant Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. I received All-on-4 dental implants, sponsored by Nobel Biocare and placed by Dr. Mike Golpa. I enjoy sharing my experience with others who are faced with the challenge of tooth loss. Website: www.iweardentures.com YouTube: www.youtube.com/kalinjax Email: kal32205@gmail.com

Dr. David Hornbrook (Clinical Director of Education and Technology at Keating Dental Arts) has a dynamic interview with “Damien McDonald”, president of Kerr Dental Products! Some topics in this elaborate interview are Danaher's pursuit of companies that are innovating the dental industry with science and technology such as (Nobel Biocare) as well as getting deep into the science of dental industry and clinical patient care. “When I look at my career choices so far, helping people is the main objective for all of the companies I've worked for. In some cases, the products that I worked with saved lives, and sometimes it's been about a patient's self-esteem, but the common thread has always been about helping people. So that's what I love about working with medical and dental products — if we get our job right, we make a patient's life better.” -Damien McDonald, President of Kerr
