Tara B. Blackshear is a distinguished equity scholar focusing on health, physical activity, and education. Currently an Associate Professor of Kinesiology and program coordinator for the Physical Education Teacher Education program at Towson University, she has dedicated her career to fostering inclusive and equitable educational policies and practices. Dr. Blackshear earned her bachelor's and master's degrees in physical education from Florida A&M University and a doctorate in education in Exercise and Sport Science from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. With 17 years of diverse P-12 teaching experience across public, private, charter, and international schools in the United States, Egypt, and Thailand, Dr. Blackshear brings a wealth of knowledge to her role. Before her overseas experiences, she spent three years at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she played a pivotal role in preventing type II diabetes among middle school students through the nation's most extensive school-based health and physical activity intervention – The Healthy Study. In addition to her professional achievements, Dr. Blackshear is the proud mother of Akinyemi and Afi Blackshear, who share her passion for equity. Episode #86 of the PhysioBib Podcast is the first in a series of three episodes on pelvic health. In which we had the honor to speak with Professor Kari Bø, who probably is one of the most well-known researchers in pelvic health physiotherapy worldwide.She's been a Professor of Exercise Science at the Norwegian School of Sport Sciences since 1997 and has published more than 350 peer-reviewed papers on various topics like pelvic floor dysfunction, incontinence, pelvic girdle pain, and exercise during pregnancy.She has also held visiting and guest professorships at multiple universities in Australia, New Zealand, and Brazil. And after our recording she did send us a short bio where she mentioned that she's currently supervising 11 PhD students. So with everything she's involved in, we feel very honored that she took the time to join us for this conversation — where we focused on stress incontinence and the importance of pelvic floor training in physiotherapy. We also touched on broader topics related to pelvic floor care, including the competencies physiotherapists need in this field, adherence to pelvic floor training and much more.

In his 15th year of service, Eric Renaghan is in his first year as Director of Sport Science for Football. His role uses scientific principles to support the health, safety, and performance of their student-athletes through research, education, and innovation. Prior to the University of Miami, Renaghan was the Head of Sports Performance for the St. Louis Blues. He also held assistant strength and conditioning positions with the Vancouver Canucks and San Jose Sharks. Additionally, in 2020-2022, Eric was the High-Performance Advisor to the Italian Ice Hockey Federation. In 2018, Renaghan received his M.S. in Human Performance from Lindenwood University and his B.S. in Kinesiology (2005) from San Jose State University. He is currently pursuing his PhD in Exercise Physiology. Renaghan is certified in strength and conditioning (CSCS)(RSCC*) by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). Additionally, he has presented at numerous national and international conferences on various topics in sport.
