Former US president Donald Trump sued CNN accusing the cable television news network of defamation and seeking $475 million in punitive damages. Trump, in the lawsuit filed in a US District Court in Florida, accused CNN of waging a campaign of libel and slander” against him because it fears he will run for president again in 2024. Trump's lawyers say CNN has sought to use its massive influence purportedly as a trusted news source to defame the plaintiff in the minds of its viewers and readers for the purpose of defeating him politically. Trump, who requested a jury trial, had a caustic relationship with CNN and other major news outlets like The New York Times during his presidency, branding them “fake news” and repeatedly raging against them on social media.

In 1990, John Hughes threw his hat into the ring of Christmas films and the result was Home Alone.  Directed by Christopher Columbus, Home Alone featured a few new faces in Macaulay Culkin and his brother Kieran, supported by an experienced cast including Joe Pesci, Daniel Stern, Catherine O’Hara, and John Heard.  The film follows 8-year-old Kevin who, through a series of unfortunate and bratty events, finds himself left home alone while his family flies to Paris for Christmas vacation.  If the challenge of survival was not enough, burglars Harry and Marv are out to rob the neighbourhood, and they won’t let Kevin stand in their way. Made for $18M, Home alone went on to gross $475M, becoming the highest-grossing Christmas film until 2018 when the Grinch overtook it on the list of movies that made insane amounts of money.  But does it hold up?  Listen as Jon, Colin and Brent are left alone to talk about this Christmas comedy and see if it is filled with joy, cheer, toys and life lessons..or if the wet bandits provide an experience akin to a fat alcoholic breaking into your house and handing you a wet sack of coal as they eat all of your cookies and drink all your milk.

In 1989, Stephen Spielberg went on a journey to see if the third time was a charm with Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.  With the second Indy movie disappointing critics and fans alike, Spielberg decided to tone down the gore and beef up the cast with Sir Sean Connery to play Henry Jones, father of Henry Jones Junior and proud owner of Indiana the dog.  The Last Crusade received mostly positive reviews, though it was widely accepted that it didn’t surpass the first film, but excelled compared to the second film. Made for $48M, the third Indiana Jones installment made nearly $475M, so whether you feel this is a good Indiana Jones movie or simply a good movie, the box office speaks for itself.  But does it hold up? Listen as Jon, Colin and Brent follow the Jones’ around the world as they try to fight off the Nazi’s and see if they choose poorly, crashing blimps, planes, tanks, cars, and horses, or if they choose wisely, picking the wooden cup and passing the test as a penitent man should.
