Drunk Podcast Shambles and Political Faux Pas: Hell on a ThursdayDan and Corey from Libservative embark on a chaotic yet insightful episode, highlighting Corey's hilariously drunken escapade that delayed the podcast. They dive into RFK Jr.'s controversial remarks about autism which angered many mothers, exposing the sensitive balance between raising awareness and being perceived as offensive. The hosts discuss the planned military actions against Iran, the inconsistent enforcement of moral standards within politics, and the unsettling influence of the elite on American culture. A major segment centers on the anti-Christian task force proposed by the Trump administration and its implications. SERIES 3 EPISODE 13: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN A-Block (1:44) SPECIAL COMMENT: Did you HEAR Trump yesterday? Did you HEAR HIM TALK? He's in Howell, Michigan, where it might as well be Alabama in the year 1855, where they marched chanting “We Love Hitler, We Love Trump” a MONTH ago, and he came out at the County Sheriff's Office, and behind him with the cops as the props and if he had had ten times the energy and ten times the focus you would have said: what's wrong with Trump? Is he DYING or something? I mean I don't THINK he's dying, I think there are intermediate stages between having every single thing in a presidential campaign turn against you in a matter of two weeks and actually dying, but look if this mumble thing continues, at this rate they're going to have start putting live captions over him. Trump responded to the overture from the RFK Junior camp about dropping out if Trump would give him a role in his cabinet. “I didn't know he was thinking about getting out, but if he is thinking about getting out, certainly I'd be open to it.” RFK's running mate Nicole Shanahan appears to be doing the bargaining. Even she has figured it out: "We run the risk of a Kamala Harris and Walz presidency, as we draw votes from Trump. We draw, somehow, more votes from Trump. Or we walk away, right now, and join forces with Donald Trump…” Translation: bribe us and we'll go away. Looks like what they want is Secretary of Health and Human Services. THE SELF-DEFENESTRATION OF THE POLITICAL MEDIA: The Times really did it yesterday, with no sense of irony, no meta self-reflection: “Kamala Harris's tan suit was a surprising choice, our fashion critic writes.” The Post, meantime, did a DNC factcheck and got half a dozen things wrong: the Post insisted that there was no evidence that Trump ever sent love letters to dictators with Kessler writing “we do not know what Trump wrote to Kim Jong Un,” Media Matters went appropriately nuts. Of course we know. Trump showed them to… Bob Woodward of the Post. The factcheck now has its own factcheck. I recommend to you and will quote extensively from a masterpiece on this topic in The New Republic. Meredith Shiner writes: "after years of watching Morning Joe and searching for their birthdays in the Politico Playbook, they do not see their role as speaking to us, but rather speaking to themselves." Ex-effing-actly. B-Block (26:47) THE WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD: Jesse Watters has rebirthed birtherism. He's sending "Johnny" to Hawaii to get the real story about Barack Obama's birth certificate because Harris. Amy Kremer, a GOP Committeewoman from Georgia, is the sucker born every minute. A liberal trolls the idiot Jack Posobiec by saying she'll have an abortion and a vasectomy onstage at the DNC and Kremer believes her. And Stephen L. Miller - the "other" Stephen Miller - uses the c-word about Mallory McMorrow with no self-awareness that it's used about him. C-Block (37:10) THINGS I PROMISED NOT TO TELL: It was a lovely day in Fun City yesterday so I was out all day and I walked right past it: the bar out of which George Steinbrenner stepped one night in 1981 after I had spent the day trying to find... SERIES 3 EPISODE 1: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN A-Block (1:44) SPECIAL COMMENT: After his demented, prejudiced paroxysm at the National Association of Black Journalists, as he signaled the start of his full-on, hateful, disgusting, apartheid-and-slavery-level-appalling campaign of birtherism and racism, Donald Trump must withdraw from the presidential election and commit to psychiatric institutionalization. There is no longer any room in the political discourse of the United States of America for anyone both so deeply disturbed AND so deeply possessed by a hate of people of color that it reaches the levels of insanity and prejudice Trump not only DISPLAYED in Chicago yesterday but gloried in. More over, there is no room in American SOCIETY for anyone with such an immeasurably dysfunctional and dangerous mental illness as that which Trump showed again and again at the NABJ event. This country is not safe if Donald Trump is free to walk on its streets. This country is not safe if those who have mistaken him for sane, or rational, or patriotic, or just American, are not shown in no uncertain terms that what he radiated yesterday on that stage is a disease At the National Association of Black Journalists event in Chicago he went full birther, again. He went full racist, again. He not only questioned the ethnic history of the Vice President of the United States, but he accused her of either CHANGING that history or changing her STATEMENTS ABOUT that history – Trump's insanity permitted him to be vague even in his apartheid-level racist accusation. As he did so his stooges like Jesse Watters were going on Fox claiming Vice President Harris is quote “not African-American, technically” and Laura Loomer was disseminating a Harris birth certificate and the gutter trash congresswoman from Colorado Lauren Boebert wrote quote “she switched” and the Trump parking lot attorney Alina Habba said quote “Unlike you Kamala, I know who my roots are and where I come from." Not again. We must - using the law and the ballot box - destroy this man's evil and metaphorically bury his campaign and those who support under the rubble of birtherism. B-BLOCK (24:50) THE WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD: Mar-a-Lago insiders selling info to supplicants about when Trump is in a good mood. Musk and Ramaswamy say America needs more people (but not immigrants like their own parents) and the Oklahoma school nazi wants to fire any teacher who wasn't worried enough about Trump's ear-piercing. C-BLOCK (35:38) THINGS I PROMISED NOT TO TELL: Ah for the simpler times of 46 years ago when the big issue was: will I get my seersucker suit dirty on the subway as I travel up to my internship at Channel 5 News. Donald Trump sat for an interview at the NABJ conference and got utterly humiliated by a solid line of questioning from Rachel Scott and Kadia Goba. Of the many storylines that emerged from the interview, the Trump campaign now appears to be running with his Birtherism 2.0 attack against Kamala Harris. We get into the racist attacks on Harris, as well as Cori Bush via direct mailers from AIPAC, and much more. SERIES 2 EPISODE 219: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN A-Block (1:44) SPECIAL COMMENT: Trump's nephew Fred III – the one who likes him – says Trump told him, in the oval office, in May 2020, that the disabled, quote, “these people…the shape they're in, all the expenses, maybe those kinds of people should just die.” It is somehow worse than it seems. Fred Trump III has a son William who has spent the whole of his 25 years on this planet fighting illness after illness and complication after complication. When the medical fund the family set up for William began to run dry in 2020, William called his uncle and asked for more help. “I don't know,”Fred Trump quotes Donald Trump. “He doesn't recognize you. Maybe you should just let him die and move down to Florida.” There are lots of words for this: euthanasia, mercy killing, assisted suicide, quietus; for the elderly senicide or geroniticide, the Nazis called it Akt-zone T-4. We all have our differing moral north stars but for most of us I think there are at least some circumstances in which it is valid and justifiable. You and I both knew Trump was this kind of monster. What we must realize is that while others might see individually justifiable acts of assisted suicide, with Trump we are talking forced euthanasia - mass murder. I have asserted here before that we saw of Trump during Covid suggested this was at the heart of his attitude towards people: that they were just another commodity. Kill a few… kill a few thousand… so what. Just let them die and move down to Florida. Round them up by the millions in camps before deporting them, leaving lord knows how many to DIE in those camps. "These people. The shape they're in, all the expenses, maybe those kinds of people should just die." It's kind of amazing that in Fred Trump III's upcoming book he quotes his uncle using the N-word to blame damage to his car and that's barely an afterthought here. Which circles back to the campaign against Harris. Brian Kilmeade of Fox may have said the Vice President was going to a "college sorority" and he may have said "colored sorority" but two weeks ago Trump flunky Sebastian Gorka proudly called Harris "colored" - and the birtherism has started again. This while Biden gave a moving and eloquent farewell address, Kim Jong Un told Trump to stuff his friendship, CBS reported there are a dozen potential VP candidates, and the next round of polls shows her - in a wildly conservative poll - just a point back in Pennsylvania, and cutting Trump's lead in half in the CNN poll while improving 5 points on Biden's last numbers among female voters and 11 among young voters and 16 points among black voters B-Block (27:46) THE WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD: To analyze how the fascists are NOT running a misogynistic campaign against Kamala Harris, NewsMax brings on Mark Halperin and Ed Henry - both fired for harassment and worse. If you think Trump has been screwed up by Biden bowing out, The New York Times is down to criticizing HOW he bowed out and the astonished headline "The Most Ruthless Political Operator in the Country Is a WOMAN." And Russell Brand, super-genius, thinks melatonin controls skin color. C-Block (42:00) THINGS I PROMISED NOT TO TELL: The old joke about this hated baseball figure was: you're in a boat with this guy, Hitler and Mussolini. You have a gun and two bullets. What do you do? Answer: shoot this guy, then throw Hitler overboard, then throw Mussolini overboard, then shoot this guy again just to make sure. In a republican primary field that at one time boasted more than a dozen candidates, former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley and former President Donald Trump are the last ones standing. That means Trump's fire is concentrated on Haley — a daughter of Indian immigrants. And he's using that heritage to try to undermine Haley's candidacy, and stoke concern about her legitimacy for the presidency. For the record, that concern is unfounded – Haley, as the Constitution dictates, is a natural-born US citizen. NPR's Mary Louise Kelly and Senior Editor and Correspondent Domenico Montanaro dissect the reasons WHY Trump keeps returning to this particular political playbook. Email us at considerthis@npr.org

Rundown - Troubadour Dave Gunders - 05:52 "World Gone Crazy" by Dave Gunders - 19:22 Alan Prendergast Part 1 - 25:13 Fake Friday morning co-hosting with Peter Boyles - 01:46:03 Randy Corporon interviews Steve Deace on Brauchler Show - 02:47:31 Alan Prendergast Part 2 - 02:59:59 Denver DA Philip Van Cise was a great man for his times. He stood up to organized crime in Denver when host's grandfather Harry Silverman was trying to practice law downtown. Van Cise also fought the KKK. The stories of those epic fights are told masterfully in the book, Gangbuster, by Alan Prendergast. Prendergast is an award-winning Colorado writing legend, renowned for his coverage of JonBenet, Columbine, and almost every major crime drama in modern Colorado history. A Denver native, and graduate of Denver East High (like his protagonist, Phil Van Cise), Alan Prendergast makes the turn of the last century Denver come alive. https://www.westword.com/author/alan-prendergast A CU Buff, Phil Van Cise got his undergraduate (1907) and law degree (1909) up in Boulder, where his father was an instructor, and also a Colorado attorney. The Ludlow Massacre of 1914 shaped Captain Van Cise. Rising to rank of colonel, Denver's future DA further served as a US Army intelligence officer in WWI. Van Cise also experienced the violent Denver Tramway Streetcar strike of 1920. He knew Denver was becoming a crime rich environment and he decided to make a longshot run for Denver DA to try to stop it. Success followed success, but it was against all odds. Colonel Van Cise changed Denver forever. And for the better. Alan Prendergast is a brilliant storyteller, and instructs undergraduates at Colorado College, teaching Journalism at his alma mater. Once you buy Prendergast's historically accurate page-turner, you'll want to go visit amazing Denver sites where the action all happened like 16th Street, the Auditorium Arena, and the West Side Court Building at Speer and Colfax. Denver needed a hero in 1920 when her cops were crooked and bigotries ran wild. Denver was renowned as a town where almost anything went, so long as Lou Blonger, the top organized crime boss, approved, and got his cut. Aside and apart were the bigots who brought the KKK around the USA and found a great Denver asset in Dr. John Galen Locke. Blonger and Locke are formidable but as we know, because Denver went on to prosper, Van Cise brought both of these authoritarian crime bosses to justice. America can learn a lot by studying how Colorado and Van Cise fought back one hundred years ago against authoritarianism and nationalism. Gangbuster: One Man's Battle Against Crime, Corruption, and the Klan is a Best Book for 2023. It's highly entertaining. It's educational and full of suspense. We learn the way for civilized societies to fight back when democracy is threatened by White Christian Nationalists and criminal types. Buy Gangbuster here. https://alanprendergast.com/ We need Jack Smith to succeed like Colonel Phil Van Cise. Both have the courage of their convictions, and allegiance to the rule of law. Van Cise served one of the most crime busting single terms in the rich history of the Denver District Attorney's Office. That's where the show host worked 1980 - 1996, including with Assistant DA O. Otto Moore, who worked 1921 - 1925 with Denver DA Van Cise. Prendergast and host reminisce about many Colorado cases including JonBenet. Prendergast rips former Boulder DA Mary Lacy for her fake exoneration of Ramseys. The DNA is a false clue, proclaims Prendergast. Also discussed is disgraced Ramsey lawyer Lin (MAGA) Wood, and Peter Boyles who made a big name covering JonBenet and birtherism on Denver radio. Birtherism propelled Trump to be GOP nominee and then President in 2016. Trump lost in 2020, but as chronicled on past episodes of this podcast, 45's #BigLie grew out of Colorado. Joe Oltmann appeared with Boyles on 710 KNUS and Jenna Ellis appeared on Dan Caplis on 630 KHOW to cry Stop the Steal. Now, Jack Smith and other lawyers are making things clear. Boyles and Silverman used to do Friday mornings together on KHOW and KNUS. On this podcast, they once again share an hour discussing current events in Colorado and elsewhere. Boyles also hosts GOP stalwart Dick Wadhams and discussed are Jack Smith closing in on 45, and whether Rudy G will flip. Boyles highlights apparent MAGA defection by broadcaster Steve Deace, an Iowa White Christian Nationalist, but is contradicted by contention Rudy not about to rat on Trump, and that Deace defection to DeSantis is only mildly interesting. https://www.rawstory.com/steve-deace/ By his own current admission, Boyles, age 80, agrees to be muzzled from discussing Big Lie since 710 KNUS and Salem are being sued. Even though Boyles can't talk about Corporon, there are no such limitations here as we explain the Corporon/GOP/Kraken/Oltmann/Trump/Salem/MAGA/Boyles entanglements. World Gone Crazy is a hit single by our Troubadour Dave Gunders. Talk radio has become a hateful cesspool in the age of Trump and this show considers Denver's contributions in that regard. VanCise kept speaking out long after he left the DA's Office. So will we. https://soundcloud.com/dave-gunders/6-world-gone-crazy Army Colonel Philip Van Cise was a great Denver attorney. He had great integrity and honor. Episode 159 salutes Col. Phil Van Cise and this wonderful book, Gangbuster, about his amazing life. Author Alan Prendergast has penned a true Colorado classic, and easily one of the best books of 2023. https://www.audible.com/pd/Gangbuster-Audiobook/B0BYB1DG9T

While it's laughable to think of Disney as "woke," the absolute temper tantrum GOP leaders have thrown over this matter is reflective of how extremism has become the only virtue in GOP politics. In order to understand how this works and where it came from, Brad and Dan turn to the news that Sarah Palin is running for Congress in Alaska. While this may not seem like big news nationally, it opens a window into the "Palinization" of politics over the last fifteen years. Brad and Dan recall how and why John McCain chose Palin as his running mate and what this unleashed in the Republican party: Birtherism, the Tea Party, obstructionism, xenophobia, and so on. From an examination of McCain, they look to his predecessor in the Senate, Barry Goldwater, who also ran for president and courted radical White Christians in order to get ahead in the polls. What emerges from this picture is a look at American politics that shows how for 65 years Republicans have tried to use extremists for political gain, only to unleash a disease on the American body politic. In their new book "Peril," Bob Woodward and Robert Costa released a previously unpublished memo by a man named John Eastman, who served as an attorney advising President Trump during the 2020 election. That memo outlined an anti-democratic six-step plan for Vice President Pence to overturn the election results — stealing the election in favor of Trump — by refusing to tally votes from states with "multiple slates of electors," throwing the final decision to the House of Representatives. It was presented to Pence by Trump and Eastman in the Oval Office during the days leading up to January 6th, and offers a chilling look at the lengths to which Trump was prepared to go in order to maintain power. It also offers a new opportunity to examine the activities of John Eastman, who entered the spotlight in 2020 when he published an op-ed in Newsweek making the false claim that Kamala Harris was ineligible for the Vice Presidency. Back then, Brooke spoke with Slate's Mark Joseph Stern, who described the origins of this birtherism falsehood and how Eastman and his organization, the Claremont Institute, used the media to spread it.

Turning to Dr. King’s Three Evils of Society speech, I thought about a fourth and fifth evil which should be explored and detailed. These Evils, might be more readily called maladies, have been part of America for its entire existence, so they won’t be alien or new to anyone who has had the mind to look deeply at American History for more than 5 years, though even a 5 year cursory look at American History, that being 2015-2020 would probably uncover these maladies also. Birtherism tops that list. But I digress, Dr. King’s Three Evils of Society was an introduction to what he saw as a shifting mission for SCLC, four months prior to delivering that speech he spoke about the original motto for his organization, “To Save the Soul of America” which says a lot about a man whom was to be the most hated person throughout the country because of the speech he used to explain that point. I marvel at his sacrifices during those years, I admire his courage and his honor; for this reason I offer this segment to anyone who cares about this country as much as he did. We live in a time where the voices of some major charismatic prophets and ministers have now merged their influence, voices, and platforms with those of conspiracy theorist organizations. These platforms play on the fears and insecurities of gullible people. The fear that is projected is there is an invisible cabal of politicians, celebrities, and millionaires that are child predators who look to overthrow our government. The belief is that President Trump is the only person blessed by God to stop this cabal. However when you look at the truth behind our current president do you see him as this so called savior of the day? I say he isn't. However President Trump uses these conspiracy theories and groups as tools to incite violence and to continue to spread the lies. The prophets in his camp have gone to bed with these unfounded beliefs and it is the new revelation that is being preached on major platforms in Christianity.
Alien life? JFK’s murder? The Moon landing? These are classic topics for conspiracy theorists, who gather data, connect dots, and see where the evidence leads. But with more recent controversies, such as Birtherism, Pizzagate, QAnon, evidence is optional. For Trumpists, mere assertion is all that’s needed to draw outrageous conclusions and spread untruths. Dr. Nancy Rosenblum, author of A Lot of People Are Saying: The New Conspiracism and the Assault on Democracy, joins Mind of State to discuss the danger behind this new, loose standard of proof. They questioned President Barack Obama's eligibility to run for President of the United States claiming he was not born in the United States. It failed. Now, another African American's citizenship - that of Senator Kamala Harris - is being questioned insinuating that she is not a natural born American citizen and throwing doubts on her eligibility to become vice president and if need be, President of the United States. This is a fringe theory with no basis in law or fact as Kamala Harris was born in the United States and therefore, a natural born citizen of the United States. Why does this happen only to African Americans aspiring to become president or as in this case, vice president of the United States? The answer? Disguised racism.

Joe Biden taps Kamala Harris as his Vice Presidential pick and the attacks on her, and her record, begin. The President suffered a personal loss over the weekend and the COVID-19 crisis continues to rage out of control. What do Milli Vanilli have to do with Donald Trump? What do The Golden Girls have to do with The Census? Why is Kanye West running for President now? The episode ends with a list of reasons why the Biden/Harris ticket should receive your vote. A Real Housewives of Atlanta quote ends the episode on a light note.
Today's episode discussed the Biden/Harris ticket and the attempt by Trump to use Birtherism unsuccessfully to discredit the Vice-Presidential nominee, We then discussed the insane amount of money raised and used by Evangelical Christian pastors to fatten their own lifestyle, with particular focus on Jerry Falwell, Jr. and his fall from grave. We ended the program with a discussion about exposing oneself to new cultures and cuisines in order to develop an appreciation for other cultures. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/dwayne-d-willis/message

Then he and Brad discuss the interfaith and mixed-race background of Kamal Harris, Birtherism 2.0, the attempt to steal the election at the post office, Kanye West working for the Trump campaign, the illegal appointment of the DHS head, Latinx voters turning Republican, and the unraveling of American democracy.

Conspiracism A functional conspiracy theory uses facts and rational arguments to prove that things are not as they seem. Conspiracism is a conspiracy without the theory. Conspiracism takes the form of a bold assertion without any evidence, even fake evidence, to back it up. It’s an assault on common sense. Prominent examples are “climate change is a hoax!” and “the election is rigged!” Conspiracy claims spread quickly because they require no explanation and are impossible to counter. Moreover, they ring “true enough” by playing into an emotional narrative of fear or hatred. When the president engages in conspiracism, such as the press being the enemy of the people, he imposes his reality on the nation, with violent consequences. Dangers of conspiracism One of the most devastating side effects of conspiracism is the delegitimation of democratic institutions, such as the party system. The notion of a loyal opposition party is key to democracy; without it, democracy ceases to exist. Republicans rely heavily on this delegitimating tactic to hold power, and it’s growing more rampant. Birtherism towards Obama and painting Hillary Clinton as a criminal mastermind are examples of this. By equating Democrats with traitors, as the president has explicitly done, he implies they are not a loyal opposition but enemies of the state. Once delegitimated, violence against them becomes acceptable. This is an old tactic, but one we’re seeing for the first time in the US. Protecting Reality and enacting democracy Conspiracism is destructive, delegitimating, and disorienting. However, it has no program, no policy, and no ideology. Conspiracism is now mainly used by conservatives, but it can easily travel across the political spectrum. In fact, conspiracism has already replaced ideology as the dominant political tool in the US. It is critical to speak truth to conspiracism—not for the person spreading it, who is unlikely to be persuaded—but for yourself and others. For starters, it is morally right. Speaking truth also reinforces reality, shows other truth-seekers they are not alone, and creates solidarity. Equally important is voting for politicians who emphasize facts and explain how and what their actions are accomplishing. Lawmakers help sustain democratic norms when they are transparent and make acts of government open and legible. Find out more: Nancy Rosenblum is the Harvard University Senator Joseph S. On this episode of The Open Mind, we're delighted to welcome Yale University philosopher Jason Stanley, author of the edifying and essential Random House volume “How Fascism Works: The Politics of Us and Them.” Stanley told Dana Milbank of the Washington Post that the Trump rendition of these tactics “uses emotion to circumvent reason, to overwhelm reason, wanting us to get the situation in which there's such fear and suspicion that the only happiness is winning over his enemies.” These are Jason Stanley's words and he added in an interview with Vox, “I think of fascism as a method of politics. It's rhetoric, a way of running for power. Of course that's connected to fascist ideology because fascist ideology centers on power. But I really see fascism as a technique to gain power.” At this year's philosophy conference for high school and undergraduate students at Stony Brook University I was so pleased to interview Jason and eager to continue that exchange.

Is the United States an empire? US citizens have struggled with this question for a long time. Though our historical narrative traces our origins to the war for independence against the British Empire, we often forget that the US has presided over territories since the very beginning. Today about 4 million people in the territories of American Samoa, the Northern Marinara Islands, Guam, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands are subject to the US government, yet cannot vote for President and have only symbolic representation in congress. At the same time, the US maintains a global network of about 800 military bases in 80 countries. For these reasons and more, Daniel Immerwahr says the United States is definitely an empire. In this episode, Daniel explains how this happened, the ways that US citizens have debates their country's role in the world, and how a country born of an anti-imperialist revolution became the thing it professed (and still professes) to despise. He also shares some fascinating stories about how the US military helped make The Beatles, why some people claimed John McCain was not eligible to be President, and how citizens of the United States of America began referring to their country as simply “America.” Daniel Immerwahr is Associate Professor of History at Northwestern University, and author of the book How To Hide An Empire: A History of the Greater United States (Farrar, Straus & Giroux, 2019). Join us as we go through the murky world of Russian intelligence. In Vladimir Putin's Russia, the old-style KGB tactics didn't go away. Instead, the Russian intelligence apparatus has been empowered. This episode goes through the story of the Russian “illegals” spy ring operating in the U.S., examining the back story of these deep cover Russian agents who would later become the inspiration for the hit television series “The Americans”. We also show how one of the American men recruited by a Russian spy, Carter Page, eventually rose up to become one of Trump's initial foreign policy advisors. In this episode of The Asset, host Max Bergmann, the director of The Moscow Project, an initiative of the Center for American Progress Action Fund, shows how Russia sought to infiltrate and cultivate the far right movement in the United States, locking in on guns and the NRA as the most effective way to do so. It breaks down the story of Maria Butina, a Russian agent currently behind bars. This episode also hones in on Donald Trump's reemergence on the political scene with his embrace of the birther conspiracy theory and shows how that conspiracy mirrors the same sorts of disinformation campaigns that Soviet and Russian intelligence love to push.Lastly, the episode breaks down the idea of kompromat and examines Trump's 2013 Miss Universe Pageant in Moscow. This isn't just the trip where that infamous tape took place. It is also where Trump once again was seeking to do business in Russia. The Asset tells the full story of Trump and Russia. Each week, we will examine the colorful characters and dirty deals that populate the story of how Russia helped the son of a shady real estate mogul became President of the United States.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Exercising your rights is a lot easier than actual exercise. We are literaraly spoon feeding you information from throughout history to help you when the time comes to have some educated opinions. We offer none of our own. Perspective aside. The truth is not subjective. During Barack Obama's campaign for president in 2008, throughout his presidency, and afterwards, a number of conspiracy theories were circulated, falsely asserting that Obama was ineligible to be President of the United States on the basis that he was not a natural-born citizen of the United States within the requirement of Article Two of the U.S. Constitution. Theories alleged that Obama's published birth certificate was a forgery—that his actual birthplace was not Hawaii but Kenya. Other theories alleged that Obama became a citizen of Indonesia in childhood, thereby losing his U.S. citizenship. Still others claimed that Obama was not a natural-born U.S. citizen because he was born a dual citizen (British and American). A number of political commentators have characterized these various claims as a racist reaction to Obama's status as the first African American President of the United States. These claims were promoted by fringe theorists pejoratively referred to as "birthers", some of whom sought court rulings either to declare Obama ineligible to take office, or granting access to various documents which they claimed would evidence such ineligibility; none of these efforts were successful. Some political opponents, especially in the Republican Party, have expressed skepticism about Obama's citizenship or been unwilling to acknowledge it;[5] some have proposed legislation which would require presidential candidates to provide proof of eligibility. Expressed belief in such theories has persisted despite Obama's pre-election release of his official Hawaiian birth certificate in 2008,[1] confirmation by the Hawaii Department of Health based on the original documents,[6] the April 2011 release of a certified copy of Obama's original Certificate of Live Birth (or long-form birth certificate), and contemporaneous birth announcements published in Hawaii newspapers. Polls conducted in 2010 (before the April 2011 release) suggested that at least 25% of adult Americans said that they doubted Obama's U.S. birth, and subsequently a May 2011 Gallup poll found that the percentage had fallen to 13% of American adults (23% of Republicans) who continued to express such doubts. This plummeting percentage of doubters has been attributed to President Obama's release of the long form in April 2011. Political Scientist Joe Uscinski is the guest on this week's episode of The Chauncey DeVega Show. He is the co-author of the new book American Conspiracy Theories. It is now 14 years since the tragedy of September 11th. In this episode of The Chauncey DeVega Show, Professor Uscinski and Chauncey discuss the conspiracy theories that have come into existence about that tragic day, how they function as a type of alternative belief system more generally, and the relationship between political values and a given person's propensity to believe in them. Chauncey and Joe also dialogue about the role race plays--or not--in anti-Obama "Birtherism" and other related matters. Dr. Uscinski's ability to bring rigorous empirical techniques to the discussion of what is often empty conjecture and emotion about American conspiracy theories is refreshing and exciting. In this episode of The Chauncey DeVega Show, Chauncey also does some sharing about his feelings of decrepitude on his birthday, offers up some "fun" conspiracy theories about a brand of tropical punch that supposedly made black men sterile, relays his own 9/11 memories, reads some Slavoj Zizeck, and gives a really good reason for why folks should wash the clothes they buy before wearing them.
