"Cat Ballou" is a wild Western romp where schoolteacher Cat Ballou turns outlaw to avenge her father's murder. With a drunken gunslinger, Kid Shelleen, by her side, (not to mention, a farm hand, smitten outlaw, and an uncle) they take on a ruthless land baron in a thrilling mix of comedy, gunfights, and musical showdowns, leading to an unforgettable finale. https://www.instagram.com/realoldreels/

Prior to their recent trip to New Zealand, Collin and Kerry looked up "New Zealand Christmas movies" and this was the result. "Kiwi Christmas" follows a typical formula for an ABC Family Christmas movie in which Santa Claus doesn't want to do his usual rounds on Christmas Eve, so he hides in Auckland, New Zealand and hangs out with a family during their Christmas barbeque. Wackiness ensues. Is the border patrol in NZ really as strict as they appear in this film? Can Santa really be Santa with only six employees? Will there ever be a Christmas movie or special starring Queenstown's beloved Cookie Muncher? All this, plus a robust Blu-ray Gift Exchange. Blu-ray titles covered: Warner Bros: "Purple Rain" (1984) (4K) "Godzilla x Kong: New Empire" (2024) "American Fiction" (2023) Criterion: "Blue Velvet" (1986) 4K "Fear and Loathing In las Vegas" (1998) 4K Paramount:  "South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut" (1999) 4K "Team America: World Police" (2004) 4K MGM: "Class" (1983) Warner Archive: "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" (1941) "Act of Violence" (1948) "The Man I Love" (1946) "The Shining Hour" (1938) Sony: "Shotgun Stories" (2008) "Cat Ballou" (1965) Music Box Films: "Ennio" (2024)

A feisty and gorgeous Jane Fonda is a perfect accompaniment to this Easter Monday. Or even if young Jane has nothing to do with the rabbit holiday and even if this is far from her most-challenging role, she DOES headline a fun comedy-western where she gets some payback. And that's fitting since this is Revenge Month. Lee Marvin won the Best Actor Oscar for his dual role as the killer villain and the drunken "hero". Comedy performances don't often result in Academy Awards, so his win still stands out. Elliot Silverstein does a good job managing those tonal changes in what was his debut as a movie director. Anyway, Bev has the week off, so Ryan is working alone on this 504th edition of Have You Ever Seen. Spend a zippy 29 minutes hearing all about Cat Ballou, Cat Ball-ou-ou-ou. Espero os guste la selección que hemos preparado que terminará con Jill Ireland despidiendo la playlist cantando “Hello and goodbye” que escribió Elmer Bernstein para la película “SUCEDIÓ ENTRE LAS DOCE Y LAS TRES”. 00h 00’00” Yellow rose of Texas – Paul Newman 00h 00’54” Presentación 00h 02’46” Cabecera 00h 03’21” Nevada Smith – Merle Kilgore 00h 06’24” Man without a star – Frankie Laine 00h 08’20” On a bicycle build for joy – B. The reason directors have a “director’s cut” or “final cut” is because Elliot fought for it. It’s not hyperbole to say that Elliot Silverstein really is the director’s director. On this week's episode of We Really Like Her!'s FONDAVISION miniseries, Danita and Emily ride into Wolf City, Wyomin' to hang with the infamous Cat Ballou. How did this zany, 1960s comedy-western (a favourite of Bryan Cranston and the Farrelly Brothers?) get away with giving Lee Marvin two scenery-chewing roles while Jane Fonda (who played the *titular* Cat) an underdeveloped one? Would it have been better as a full-fledged musical with Jane singing alongside the late, great Nat King Cole and Stubby Kaye? And which young starlet could play Cat in a reboot where, hopefully, the so-called "wildest gal in the West" actually takes the reins?

Bewahre dir deine Lebensfreude. We long to be, under the sea, in the Octopuses garden in the shade. Hi everyone, wow, apparently Boeing are now making submarines, that’s right, subs! We start off with the news that Boeing is to supply 4 large unmanned submarines with a very large payload to the US navy. We would rather use them for science and building an underwater habitat, but hey, this means the tech needed is becoming a reality. Trust me, this is a cool topic to check out. Then we look at unions in the gaming industry and discuss what that could mean. Not everyone will be a fan, but if it helps protect people from overwork and burnout then it is worth considering as the owners and management of a lot of the software developers are only interested in themselves. Then DJ has news that Marvel is poaching another character and ruining it, Conan the Barbarian is now going to be a Marvel character in the new Marvel Suicide Squad, oops, erm, we mean Savage Avengers. Sorry for the confusion there, but it is easy to understand the confusion when it appears that once again Marvel is presenting content that is so similar to DC. Then we have our games currently played, and the plethora of shout outs for your enjoyment. We hope you enjoy and if you think of anything we should cover (other than the DJ in gaffer tape) let us know, until next week, see ya.EPISODE NOTES:Extra Large Unmanned Submarines - https://www.popularmechanics.com/military/navy-ships/a26344025/navy-extra-large-unmanned-submarines-boeing/?fbclid=IwAR3bKUe869x4urVpp3dMSv7QfYXdkgzmsN0QqzbVVWTgUh3aKr5HlOfE5dsUnions in the Games Industry- https://variety.com/2019/gaming/news/game-workers-unite-fire-bobby-kotick-1203139767/- https://www.kotaku.com.au/2019/02/an-open-letter-to-game-developers-from-americas-largest-labour-organisation/Savage Avengers - https://comicbook.com/marvel/2019/02/14/conan-barbarian-savage-avengers-marvel-gerry-duggan-mike-deodato/Games currently playingBuck – Tentlan – www.tentlan.com/ Professor – Tetris 99 - https://www.nintendo.com/games/detail/tetris-99-switchDJ – Apex Legends - https://www.ea.com/games/apex-legendsOther Topics DiscussedYellow Submarine (Beatles Song) - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yellow_Submarine_(song)- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m2uTFF_3MaATomahawk Missile - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tomahawk_(missile)A wild Orca attacked a diver - http://www.takepart.com/article/2014/02/24/did-wild-orca-really-just-attack-diver-new-zealand/United States ship naming conventions- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_ship_naming_conventionsNintendo CEO Satoru Iwata takes a 50% pay cut - https://www.wired.com/2011/07/nintendo-satoru-iwata-pay-cut/Japanese Airlines CEO pays himself less than the pilots and takes a bus to work- https://boingboing.net/2011/02/25/japan-airlines-ceo-p.html- https://www.cbsnews.com/news/japan-airline-boss-sets-exec-example/The Hand (fictional supervillain organization)- https://marvel.fandom.com/wiki/Hand_(Earth-616)Adelaide pilot leaves a message on flight radar- https://www.abc.net.au/news/2019-02-20/bored-adelaide-pilot-leaves-message-on-flight-radar/10829262Kissing Sailor statue vandalised - https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2019/02/20/kissing-sailor-statue-graffitied-metoo-death-george-mendonsa/Hugh Jackman & Sir Patrick Stewart share Guinness World Records - https://www.cnet.com/news/hugh-jackman-patrick-stewart-share-guinness-world-record-for-xmen-roles/Shoutouts19 Feb 1878 - Thomas Alva Edison patents the gramophone (phonograph), the first device to both record sound and play it back. Jimmy Hendrix, makes his debut at the Whiskey-A-Go-Go. How many comedic Westerns that feature Nat King Cole as a Greek chorus can you name?  Not only that, but "Cat Ballou" was also an Oscar-winner for Best Actor in 1965.  Lee Marvin turns in the classic performance as a washed-up gunfighter.  It's an over-the-top delight that somehow managed to snatch the coveted acting prize from some other, more serious performer like, I don't know...Rod Steiger or something.  Marvin was cast against type and he is clearly the greatest thing about this somewhat dated film, which was named the #10 Greatest Western of All Time by the American Film Institute.  If you're thinking about watching "Cat Ballou", take a listen to this episode. You can download the podcast here by right-clicking on that link and choosing "save as", or you can use the convenient player located below:Lee Marvin as Kid Shelleen, soused as a louse.Switching gears, we turn to "Blackfish", a fascinating new documentary out in theaters now.  The film explores the mystique around killer whales (orcas) as they live in the wild and how their cruel imprisonment at theme parks such as SeaWorld leads to the deaths of three trainers at the hands of an orca named Tillikum.  This disturbing expose on what happens when those carefully choreographed whale tricks go awry makes compelling use of home movie footage that captures the terror when the trainers are at the mercy of their whales.  "Blackfish" manages to balance itself as an indictment of the inhumanity of orca parks, a compelling aquatic thriller and an ode to beauty of these intelligent creatures in their native waters.Cruel?  This documentary certainly does its part to help us think so.
