This episode comes with a content warning. This conversation with Chanel Contos contains descriptions of sexual violence, assault and we talk about sexual acts. Parts of this conversation may be distressing for some listeners. The statistics Chanel shares are confronting which is why she has made it her mission to drive a conversation and impact policy change in this country about consent education. We can't talk about consent without talking about what consent is not. I'm really proud of this conversation and believe it's important to sit in the uncomfortable and the hard. But please be aware that discretion is advised before you choose to listen. And if this episode brings up anything for you please reach out to organisations like LifeLife on 13 11 14 Chanel Contos founded Teach Us Consent, a campaign that mandated consent education in Australia. In order to achieve this, she worked closely with politicians from across the political spectrum, including prime ministers. Chanel was the recipient of the Australian Human Rights Commission Young People's Medal in 2021, and in 2023 she was named NSW Young Woman of the Year for her persistent efforts towards eradicating rape culture. Chanel has also been presented with the prestigious Diana Award for her humanitarian work, and in 2022 she was listed as one of the BBC's 100 inspiring and influential women worldwide. Chanel has a Masters in Education, Gender and International Development from University College London and was recently appointed by Julia Gillard to chair the Global Institute for Women's Leadership's. She shares her message in her latest book ‘Consent Laid Bare' - riding the gap between policy makers and the experiences of young people. Calling for greater awareness, education and at its core - empathy - in sharing what is healthy intimacy. Consent is complex - particularly in a society where messages are mixed at best, toxic at worst. Chanel's book is a battle cry from a generation no longer prepared to stay silent. She is a powerhouse on a mission. This is an important conversation for those who care about youth and the generations to come. In this episode, Cambridge graduate, City lawyer and Instagram influencer, Oriyan Prizant, shares his experiences in overcoming bullying as a child and young adult.Born and raised in Tel Aviv, Israel, Oriyan faced bullying from a young age from his school peers who viewed him as an outsider. He was picked on for his mannerisms and the way he spoke and eventually threatened with a knife by one of his school peers. Being a child who did not hide his feelings, he opened up and shared his experiences being bullied with his mother, a power house in her own right, who took charge of the situation and strongly intervened with the school administration. This shaped Oriyan's view of how to approach bullying, which he carried forward in his young adult life. During his time working in the military, shortly after he came out, he again was targeted and bullied for being gay. In this instance, Oriyan shared how he was able to deal with and end the bullying.Oriyan offers very practical advice for anyone being bullied in their personal life and in the work context, the latter of which he admits can be nuanced and difficult to navigate. Nevertheless, his advice is extremely useful and will help many facing bullying at any age.Oriyan also shares how he turned a "challenge into an opportunity" with his work with the Anti- Bullying Project with the Diana Award (https://www.antibullyingpro.com/).Please leave a comment letting us know your thoughts of the episode.Thank you!Nicole x Support the show

In this episode we get the pleasure of speaking with Joni Marie. Joni was born and raised in Alaska and was the co-founder of the largest archery store in the State of Alaska; which she operated for 7 years. During the years that she owned the archery shop she taught thousands of men, women and children how to shoot a bow, outfitted them for their hunts and found a real passion for the education side of hunting. She was incredibly honored to receive the Diana Award from Safari Club International for her work in Conservation and working to grow the sport of archery through education. Joni loves fishing, hiking, photography, looking for sheds, riding her Harley, and is a passionate 2nd amendment supporter. She is an avid bowhunter, having taken 26 big game animals with her bow. She came up with RO's company motto: "Encourage. Inspire. Empower." because of her outlook on supporting and encouraging other women. "A candle loses nothing by lighting another candle" is one of her favorite sayings, meaning that you lose nothing of yourself by cheering on others. She is a firm believer in the power of sisterhood and works hard to have a staff that uphold those values in the way that they represent the brand. Joni designs all of the Rockstarlette Outdoors items and patterns herself and is proud to be a Small American Business. She recently relocated to northern Arizona.

Ananya Jain is with me, and we are digging into what it means to be happy and successful. Jain was born in India, moved to the US at 18 for college, and is currently a senior at Georgia Tech. At 21, Jain is the founder of Full Circle LLC, a company dedicated to sustainable solutions, especially in the mental health industry. She is making a global impact and garnered recognition with many prestigious awards, including the Genius Award, the President's Award at Georgia Tech, and the rare Diana Award. Her TedTalk How Creative Thinking Saved My Life is mind-blowing, as is the humility with which she discusses her ability to have an impact on the world around her. Influence can be viewed as something reserved for the aged and wise. But standing out is not dependent on a completed story. We all have something to offer, and it is impossible to stand out if you are waiting for your narrative to be fully formed. You are living your story right now. Your influence is a living thing as well; growing as you grow, and it can open the door for others. In a complicated world, one of the best things you, or anyone for that matter, can do, is define what success looks like for you, as an individual. Life is difficult and full of mistakes and heartbreak. Without knowing what your success looks like, you will never find your path to happiness. The ability to look forward to what you can do will help you gain momentum. Recognizing who in your life is contributing to that momentum and who is slowing you down is paramount to success. Have boundaries, know them, and don't be afraid to cut ties with those who cross them. Perspective can be hard to come by, especially when it is clouded by different energies and efforts. Invest your energy wisely and make sure you are investing in those who are traveling the same road as you. Lastly, don't let success be about what you do. Go where happiness takes you. Explore where you are, meet different people, and try new things, and then you can make the choice. When you are surrounded by the right people, those who will keep you humble and lift your dreams, you will have the freedom to explore and make the mistakes necessary to find out what your thing is. You don't need to know what it is right now; you need the stability to discover it. We are all a work in progress. Stand up for yourself, define your boundaries, be intentional about who you surround yourself with, and then find the job that fits into the life you have created for yourself. In parting, Jain has a thought for you: I love you and trust you to do what is best for yourself. Don't wait for it to be the last message - say this to those around you every day. Rise. Shine. Impact. Define success and find your happy. In this episode, I highlight The Diana Award as the charity in the spotlight this week. I discuss THAT RENOVATION and the 'fake outrage' associated with it using "Quick Maffs" -- showing just how little people actually contributed to the cottage renovation. They trippin'! Do they even have the right to be outraged? Also, we're keeping up with all that Harry has going on this week and next week. Oh yeah, and the Sussexes are going to Mama Africa in Autumn!! Visit The Diana Award. It's such a wonderful cause dedicated to young people and the changes they create. The Sovereign Grant Financial Report in its entirety can be found here and here is the Royal Travel Appendix. Make sure you drop a 5-star review if you like the podcast.
