God has given us all responsibilities, and we are to take up those responsibilities, in obedience to our Lord. But as we work we must not trust in ourselves for the outcome, but instead we must recognize the sovereignty of God in all we do, and trust Him for the results. We must recognize that all we do, apart from God, is worthless. God must bring about the results HE desires for His glory. Inall we do we must rust in the sovereignty of God. We must trust in HIs provision and His good will. Therefore, no matter what our circumstances are, as we work and take the responsibilities God has given us, we must rest on His sovereignty.

This week on the show, we are recognizing the true essence of the nature of all things: divinity. That soul residing in an earthbound body that looks out into the world from our human eyes. Are we using our eyes to truly see the divine nature of all beings? Maybe. Only if we are willing to meet and greet our discomfort and say, "I don't know how I am going to move through this, and I am going to do it anyway." To give middle world illustration and anecdote of this, I am offering three very personal narratives of times when I saw the divine in beings that I would've not looked at previously. Yes, it is much easier to recognize divine qualities in people we love and appreciate and see already. Our sacred responsibility as embodied, empowered beings, though, is to love all. To See you soon, truly deeply see through the eyes of the divine and recognize and honor the godself of another. Can we see the god or goddess that we are? Have a returned to that true essence of our medicinal nature? If so, then we must turn our eyes to the beings around us, and acknowledge what is beyond the earthbound circumstance of another embodied soul. We must see past the outer vehicle, and look into the eyes of the divine. If we truly wish to lead a spiritual life, full of our own medicinal essences, and resonating with the higher frequencies of love and healing and embodied truth, we must go beyond. To look where we previously have looked away. To meet what we have thought to be unmeetable, or unworthy to be met. We have to go where we think we will never find spirit. And we must see the full divinity there. In ALL beings. In ALL life. And overlook nothing. We are all teachers for each other, we are all students on a sacred journey. We are all part of the same soul university. And we must recognize this now. More than ever the time is now. See through the eyes of the divine. And watch your life, your relationships, your medicine, transform in transcendental ways. This week we talk about lesson's learned from Christian B's experience of loosing his temper and breaking his hand after punching his solid oak front door. Is it a common experience among men to loose our tempers and react in a sinful way?   NOTES: This Weeks Whiskey: Wild Turkey Rare Bread Bourbon (Barrel Proof - 116 proof) Arturo Fuentes & Rocky Patel cigars Christian H. just got back from a real estate conference and vacation with his wife in Cabo San Lucas (with eXp Realty) Christian B. got the Rona... and brakes his hand. Christian B. get's transparent in talking about finding his limit of how much he can take on in his life before he snaps What practice safe-guards do you have in place for when your anger is boiling over and you feel yourself loosing control? Not everyone responds with loosing their cool with a physically violent response. What are some other unhealthy ways we respond when we get angry? Anger Isolation Irritability Depression Trying to control every detail of your world / surroundings Being overly physical with your kids when you're frustrated Shaming your kids or wife (not controlling your language or tongue) Proverbs 3:5-6 - 5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. 6 In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. Trust in the Lord with ALL your heart Lean NOT on your own understanding In ALL your ways, acknowledge Him... and HE will direct your path (a promise) If we are truly being dependent on God, we would know our limit, not try to rely on our own strength and understanding and our disposition will be more in-line with Christ's and we won't loose control in our frustration and perhaps not even get angry When relying on our own strength and understanding, we may be able to modify our behavior enough to not loose control and break our hand by punching a door... but is there still anger and rage burning in our heart? Is the belief that you can take on most things, what leads you to the tipping-point of getting overwhelmed, stressed, frustrated and angry? We are trying to be our own functional savior... separate from God and self-reliant. We need to allow more "white space" in our lives and learn what we need to say "no" to, so that we can say "yes" to God and what he has for us. Leave room in our lives and schedule for God to work. Spending time with God and in His word are key and should be "non-negotiable" in our daily lives, as it replenishes your soul and reminds us of our dependents on God. Practical suggestions: Regular date night with your spouse, to connect, confess, and continually get to know each other. Don't believe Satan's lie that you can do all things, by your self, isolated and without help Don't believe the lie that you can't be honest and vulnerable with your spouse... they love you and will not shame you or think less of you when you share with them and need God What do we do with our shame when we do fail or fall short. Does that feeling reflect reality or are we believing a lie that temps us to withdraw and isolate, or try harder to be more self-reliant and strong (instead of dependent on God) The sufficiency of Christ's death on the cross to forgive us of our sins, is paramount in freeing us from our shame and feelings of needing to be perfect or self-sufficient.   Call To Action:  Follow us on Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/the_old_fashion_dad_podcast/) & Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/oldfashiondadpodcast/) for more content & DM us to connect! In ALL the ways.Living with constant low-level anxiety is the new norm for people trying to work, home-school, not catch COVID-19, etc. And even the most resilient people hit the wall. I did. And, I had no idea it was happening until a close friend called and said, "I'm doing a welfare check."It was a game-changer and a major reality check. On this Dying to Ask:What I did that prompted my friend's phone call.I outline the "phone a friend" challenge and explain why we need to regularly check in on friends and family. And the three things that constitute "self-care" in my world these days. Here's the previous podcast referenced in this week's episode.

The two stories finally converge in Bergen-Belsen, where the girl fights for her life and the doctor struggles to save thousands on the brink of death. "I have been a doctor for thirty years and seen all the horrors of war," Hughes said, "but I have never seen anything to touch it." The narrative then jumps back to the spring of 1944, following both Hughes and Rachel as they navigate their respective forms of wartime hell until confronting the worst: Christianstadt's prisoners, including Rachel, are deposited in Bergen-Belsen, and the British Second Army, having finally breached the fortress of Germany, assumes control of the ghastly camp after a negotiated surrender. Though they never met, it was Hughes's commitment to helping as many prisoners as possible that saved Rachel's life.

South Africa is almost indisputably leading the pack right now in terms of quality hip-hop music produced on the continent. South African rappers, more so than any other African rappers I’ve researched, have that distinct level of lyrical ability and production quality which makes hip-hop great. In an article highlighting some of the top African Hip-hop artists, Joey Akan says that “the power of hip-hop lies in the South of the continent, as rappers from South Africa continue to drive the pulse of the culture. Much of the hip-hop in South Africa is derived from Western beats and samples mixed with localized rhythms and accents and drives the urban culture of the continent.” As I dove into the discography of different South African artists, I could almost immediately identify an American hip-hop song that I felt it paralleled. Some artists rapped over more mainstream style beats, whether it’s upbeat with African drums or bouncy r&b vibes. Most artists in this mix rap in their native languages- including Zulu, Swahili, and Xhosa. They mix in AAVE fluently. Sometimes verses will be all English. There are different factors that determine what language an artist speaks. Most of the time, it is just what depends on how they are most comfortable delivering the message. In the case of more mainstream artists, they will rap/sing in English to reach larger audiences. In All of the songs I selected for this mixtape, I felt the artists were right “in the pocket” in their verses. Being “in the pocket” in both music and dance means to be rhythmically in sync and fluid. Each of these songs I felt had complex cadences, fluid transitions, and essential elements of quality hip hop. Speeka- “Party ya Mapantsula” The first song on this mix of very talented South African artists is “Party ya Mapantsula” by Speeka featuring Noks Matchbox, Sfilikwane, Mthizo & Jef. Speeka is a well-known producer in South Africa who collabs with many rappers. Rappers are eager to hop on his beats. Most of the song is in Zulu and what sounds like some Xhosa- both are South African languages. Mapantsula is a Zulu slang term meaning petty gangsta. So the song title means Party with petty gangstas or Party of petty gangstas. The vibe of the songs parallels group songs by American artists like- “Mercy” which features Big Sean, Pusha T, 2chainz, and Kanye Wet, or “Down Bad” which features JID, J cole, Bas, and Nudy. “Party ya Mapantsula” takes on the general braggadocio style rap, where rappers talk their shit- explaining their come-up, lifestyle, and origins for 16 plus bars. Sfilikwane- “Vandal” Next in the mix is Sfilikwane’s “Vandal’”. I selected this song purely because of the sonics. Most of the song is in Zulu, and does not have a translation online. However, Sfilikwane’s delivery and flow throughout the song is masterful. It stood out to me because I felt the execution was equal if not superior to that of American artists. The instrumental has an old school boom-bap vibe, but the lyric cadences are complex enough to make it sound modern. In other words, Sfilikwane was right in the pocket on this record. Many of the comments on this video read something including “uyakhafula” which means “You spittin”. Sho Madjozi- “John Cena” Sho Madjozi represents for the ladies on this mix with her song- “John Cena”. This song embodies that upbeat braggadocio style of rap, but with more of an identifiably African style beat. The song is mostly rapped in English. The hook goes, “ Some wanna act rough like John Cena, Some wanna get buck like John Cena! He use to be cool when I use to come through now you wanna act tough like John Cena!” She performed this song on the popular American internet music show- Colors. The performance got her mainstream recognition from artists like Missy Elliot and Pharell. It also got reposted by John Cena himself. Sho Madjozi sits in that braggadocio pocket very well. Her lyrical ability also made me include her in this mix with her very talented peers. Gigi Lamayne- “Stoners Prayer” South African artist Gigi Lamayne joins the many artists who have made songs that are odes to marijuana. Gigi’s “Stoners Prayer” is her own take on this common theme in hip-hop. The lyrics go, “ Dear Lord, thank you for the herbs you grew, Dear Lord, thank you for the munchies too.” The theme of the song immediately made me think of Jhene Aiko’s “Sativa” – where she sings and raps about Sativa strains of weed and their effects. I also thought of Wiz Khalifa’s “Young Wild and Freee” where the lyrics repeat- “So what we get drunk, so what we smoke weed, we’re just having fun, we don’t care who sees.” Gigi mostly performs in English and makes music with more mainstream themes. Nonetheless, she is just as skilled her more conscious or lyrical peers. AKA & Anatii – “10 Fingers” Last on the mix I’d thought I’d end it out with a banger. “10 Fingers” is a collaboration between internationally recognized artist- AKA and Anatii, both from South Africa. 10 fingers is the typically “ I’m getting money, I’m living the life” type of hip-hop record. Anatii adds some R&B flavor to the song. From just the song, you couldn’t really tell that the artists are South African. They speak all English and fluently use AAVE in their lyrics. Their sound is very attractive to mainstream radio stations. There is low profanity, upbeat tempos, and, of course, catchy hooks. All in All, the songs on this list fit into that effortless braggadocio style of rap. The cadences and delivery in these songs are on point, and truly embody what I believe is the essence of hip hop. All of the artists featured in the mix are also very technically skilled rappers, and it was possible to determine that just based off sonics for those songs performed in African languages. "In All the Fierce Complexities of Hunger, Tim J. Myers shows a poetic range that is astonishing. It seems impossible, but his book is a masterful collection of poems both traditional and experimental, both lyric and narrative, both funny and serious, both comforting and disturbing, both long and short, both contemporary and historical. Is there anything he can’t do? It would appear not, as I was wowed from the first poem--with its linguistic nod to Gerard Manley Hopkins--to the last, with its gorgeous echoes of W. S. Merwin. This is one of those rare books that will, in some way, speak to every reader." --Dean Rader, author of Self-Portrait as Wikipedia Entry and editor of Bullets into Bells: Poets & Citizens Respond to Gun Violence

Its this time of year that we try to be extra careful to count our blessings twice, to be grateful for all that we have and honor all that we have lost. Being thankful is a good thing, but like every good thing if Satan can, he will find a way to use it to destroy us. In this sermon we take a look at Luke 17:11-19 and how our thankfulness sometimes lacks and how to keep from falling into that trap that Satan has set for us. I. In Need. (Vs. 11-13), II. In None. You’re discovering the BEST format in Magic: the Gathering (We maaaay be biased, but hey) Who is this episode for? We assume that you are at least slightly familiar with Magic. Maybe you played a long time ago, maybe you’re brand new to the game, but you at least know the basic rules. Also, we think veteran players might enjoy listening to this episode, and we certainly hope that anyone out there will send this episode in particular to new players they teach, or anyone who is interested in learning about the greatest Magic format. Main Topic - New to Commander   What is Commander?   Arguably the MOST popular Magic format of all time! 40 life, multiplayer format, where you have a Legendary creature as your Commander Example: You choose Meren of Clan Nel Toth This means you can play Black Cards, Green Cards, Black AND Green cards, and any number of artifacts you want. You cannot play with White, Blue or Red cards. To further clarify you cannot play with Terminate because it’s got Red in it’s color identity Hybrid mana cards (Ex. Kitchen Finks) are both GREEN and WHITE in terms of color identity. So, Kitchen Finks cannot go in a mono-green deck. Your Commander’s Color Identity determines what cards you’re allowed to play. This means that you can only play ONE of each non-basic land card Commander is a 100 card SINGLETON format SO MANY! Cards all throughout the history of Magic There is a Banned list maintained at: http://mtgcommander.net/rules.php It’s actually a pretty small list, 39 cards at the time of this recording (In ALL the history of Magic) What cards are you allowed to play with?   Why is Commander so great?   It’s a SOCIAL format! Commander can be a time when you get together with your friends and just have a good time and laugh etc. I’ve made some life-long friends playing Commander The community is Amazing! We constantly see newcomers welcomed with open arms, and folks are always happy to help people become part of this community Ryan likes to play with Other People’s Cards, and built a whole Mono-red deck around it Personal expression! Commander is a format where players can really express themselves through the decks they build and how they play It’s the Battlecruiser format of Magic! Folks can play with the biggest, baddest cards, and there is more game space to have crazy things happen that wouldn’t in a normal game of Magic. Your skill in politics can be just as important as the power level of your deck. This leads to a natural balancing effect, where the power dynamics shift as the game goes on You can play super casual, all the way up to cEDH (Explain here that the format started off as Elder Dragon Highlander, a.k.a EDH, and that cEDH stands for Competitive EDH) It’s important to find a playgroup that fits your style, and power level.  There are different levels of power when it comes to Commander   How to get started   Start with a precon! There’s no better time than now Find out when Commander Night is at your LGS. Decide who your commander is going to be. This can be a favorite legendary character from days past or it could just be a commander who has a mechanic you find interesting. Decide a plan of attack Look for cards that synergize with your commander or just look fun to play with.  Use sites like Scryfall to do searches for specific things (ie. Landfall) If you’re coming up short of a full 100 you can do internet research on sites like edhrec and archidekt for deck lists Remember this is your deck, so build it in a way that will be fun for you and those you play with.  How to decide what cards to put in Zack’s steps to make your first commander deck   Tips for a new player   Tips from Discord and Twitter go here Ramp and Card draw are the building blocks of Commander Briefly Define Ramp and Card Draw With 40 starting life total, you can usually afford to spend the first few turns ramping. This will allow you to cast bigger cards, more quickly, and have a bigger impact on the game You are usually playing against 3 other opponents. So, for every card you draw, your opponents are collectively drawing 3. Having more card draw can lessen this difference. There are many reasons to want Ramp and Card Draw. Whole episodes can be devoted to these topics, but this is a good place to start Especially for new players coming from other formats that is a weird and unintuitive thing but it's important to understand this or there will be some social tensions and feel bads How the social contract works. Mana curve matters.  Build a deck with a game plan and a direction Threat assessment, or more accurately, how to effectively deal with problem permanents/spells without drawing a ton of hate. How to build a solid mana base/ramp package. Settle on a list before buying singles.  The stack Priority Play removal! Especially for artifacts and enchantments Board Wipes are important, but so is single target removal It’s OK to take time to READ all the cards! Don’t be intimidated by this, even myself as a veteren player, I have to read a card just about every turn of the game! There’s a LOT of cards, and this can be kinda scary, but it’s OK to NOT know everything   Resources for learning more   So. You’re interested is peeked, and you want to dive deep into this wonderful format, where can you go to learn more? Edhrec.com http://mtgcommander.net/rules.php (pay particular attention to Philosophy of Commander and the social contract: http://mtgcommander.net/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=19170 ) Podcasts: Command Zone, Commanderin, Commander’s Brew, CMDR Central Youtube - Game Knights, Jumbo Commander, Commander’s Quarters Scryfall   Summary   Commander is great! And now is a great time to be a Commander player with the new C19 decks just having come out. It’s a fun, Social format, to share with friends If you are new to Commander, let us know! What I’m ultimately saying is that when you DON’T know yourself, you can’t love yourself, and until you do, you’ll never value yourself or your time, or your money. When I was in this painful place, I looked for my spouse to love me in ways I didn’t love myself. I ran myself ragged trying to prove my value and worth. I threw a lot of money at the pain I was feeling, while attempting to numb my pain. And in the end, I ended up divorced. Then while attempting to “undo” my past I repeated it another 2 times! And in the end, wound up wasting a lot of priceless energy, time, money, love, and life! But the BEST thing is that they lessons I learned the HARD way, and the things I discovered that helped me find a NEW WAY, are worth more to me than you know. Why? Because it’s my life. And it’s become my life’s work. The only thing that got my life working again, was when I stopped working to FIX ME, and instead, I creatively and passionately committed to FIND ME. To know me. To love me. And now, I enjoy a deep passionate love affair not only within my heart and soul, but with the man of my dreams — my daydreams and my nightmares. Yes, sometimes it’s a fight to understand and be understood. It’s a fight to stay open to learning, growing, and expanding. BUT…it’s worth it, and NONE of this would have been possible if I hadn’t made the ALL IN, 111% commitment to unconditionally know and love me. In ALL conditions. With no conditions. And none of this would be possible if I wasn’t clear and certain about who I am and what I’m committed to. None of this would be possible if I had QUIT on me. If I had QUIT on life. SO… LET’S REDEFINE “Q.U.I.T.” Q. Quality, not quantity. Love is not enough or too much. It’s always. And in all ways. Understand. Yourself. And partner with others who are as committed to your understanding and growth as you are. As they are. I. That's right, "I" Never forget your I. The “I” that is YOU. See through your I. See to your I. See your life from your perspective, before you try to see it from everyone else’s. And remember…I am. Not I will. Not I’m going to. But, I am. T. Train yourself daily to remember, and KNOW. Remember TRUTH and let everything else GO so you can GO AND GROW. Train your soul to align with the TRUTH in your heart. The truth that’s IN you and the truth that IS you. Train your body. Express the great health and power that’s within you. This power is creative, life-giving, and healing. Train your S.O.L. by sipping on your life. Every. Day. Train your life to remember, while redefining what it means to KNOW. Remember that dress? In All in the mind recorded in front of an audience at the Free Thinking Festival at Sage Gateshead, Claudia Hammond delves into the psychology and neuroscience of our visual experience. How do we know we all see the same colours? And why do adults look away from other people’s faces when they’re trying to concentrate? We hear from the visual neuroscientist trying to work out exactly what we all see when we look at colours and from the psychologist training the police and teachers that it’s ok if people look away when they talk to you. It doesn’t mean they’re lying. It could mean they’re concentrating. Producer: Caroline Steel

Shakespeare's Problems Plays: Part 1 - All’s Well That Ends Well and Compliance Resilience

FCPA Compliance Report

This podcast opens a five-part podcast series on Shakespeare’s Problem Plays. These are plays where the structure of comedy ends the plays; i.e. everyone gets married at the end of the day. Yet these were really not happy endings. Equally they are not tragedies either. Usually in the middle is some very dark part, which tests the reader, play-goer or listener with some very difficult subjects. The five we will consider for the remainder of this week are “All’s Well That Ends Well”; “Troilus and Cressida”; “Measure for Measure”; “The Winter’s Tale”; and finally, “Timon of Athens”. In “All’s Well That Ends Well” Helena is a low-born ward of a French-Spanish countess. She chases Bertram across Europe, sends another woman into bed with him and then captures his heart by all this aggressive stalking. Yet Helena is largely broken by Bertram’s actions.   I thought about All’s Well That Ends Wellwhen I read a recent article in the Harvard Business Review (HBR) by Roger L. Martin, entitled The High Price of Efficiency. In this article, he posited that the relentless pursuit of business process efficiency can actually make an organization less resilient. As they become less resilient, they are more at risk for a catastrophic failure or a likelihood of a control failure which could lead to something akin to a major ethical violation or even legal violation such as under the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA). The points adapted for compliance are: 1. The first is to limit scale.  2. The second is to introduce friction. This is the situation where a company creates an artifice so clean that if something untoward enters the system, it can wipe it out. You should is to bring in someone from the outside to review your compliance program on a two- or three-year basis, to provide an outside perspective but also put some sand in your shoes at times.  3. The third prescription should be high on every Chief Compliance Officer’s (CCO’s) game plan. It is to “create good jobs.” 4. CCOs must also work to teach resilience in their organizations.   Tomorrow, Troilus and Cressida.  Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

I feel very grateful for the podcast. I'm very appreciative because I teach in Indianapolis and don’t always feel camaraderie. Sometimes I feel I'm kind of isolated with my ideas or my thoughts or even with an every day things like, "Hmmmm, how could I teach that better?" Just simple things too. So then when I listen to the podcast I feel like I’m suddenly united with my people. And I have a community of people that I didn’t even know were thinking about things far beyond what I had imagined. It makes my world so much bigger. It makes my world so much better. Most of us hear the Cinderella story in childhood: a mean stepmother favors her own daughters and controls her hapless husband, turning the sweet and innocent Cinderella into a scullery maid and refusing to let her attend the royal ball, only to be thwarted by a fairy godmother and Cinderella’s own beauty and charm. Cinderella marries Prince Charming and lives happily ever after, while the stepmother and stepsisters get their just deserts. But Danielle Teller has a different take on this familiar story. In All the Ever Afters: The Untold Story of Cinderella’s Stepmother (William Morrow, 2018), her heroine, Agnes, starts life as a serf and through a combination of hard work, good luck, and a stubborn refusal to break under adversity works her way up to the position of lady of the manor. There she finds herself dealing with a somewhat difficult girl named Ella, whose life of privilege so far exceeds that of Agnes and her two beloved daughters that the usual difficulties attending the stepmother/stepchild relationship are magnified by mutual incomprehension. With a delightfully playful approach, Danielle Teller recasts the magical elements of the fairy tale and weaves them into a much richer exploration of social contrasts and constraints of the medieval world, especially as those boundaries affected women. And as becomes clear from the opening page, Prince Charming may not have been such a catch after all…. C. P. Lesley is the author of seven novels, including Legends of the Five Directions(The Golden Lynx, The Winged Horse, The Swan Princess, and The Vermilion Bird), a historical fiction series set in 1530s Russia, during the childhood of Ivan the Terrible. As physicians, we cannot image or measure it, we can only try to locate within the lives and (sometimes) bodies of our patients. In All in Your Head: Making Sense of Pediatric Pain (University of California Press, 2015), an ethnography of a pediatric pain clinic, anthropologist Mara Buchbinder shows how continuing to treat pain as individual and isolated would not only be a mistake, it would miss how pain is actually experienced, treated and even generated. While the chronic pain of patients is hard to pin down, locate, diagnose and treat, it is most definitely not all in ones head, it is multifaceted and socially distributed. In many ways, the elusiveness of chronic pain syndromes makes it even more slippery, more likely to exceed the boundaries of private experience. To start, Buchbinder shows us how pain practitioners use metaphors to create a common language and experience of pain. Images of computer wiring and “sticky brains” are not just fanciful flourishes to engage the children with pain; they fundamentally alter how the patients relate to and experience their bodies; they give it life in social relations and language, in addition to reflecting contemporary views of the networked body. Moving beyond the clinic, she also connects the private experiences of pain to broader contexts, such as the family and school. One of the greatest lessons of her work stems from the fundamental contribution of medical anthropology that suffering is social and so should its alleviation. Pediatrics—with its attention families, home and school life—tends to recognize this more than most. However, it is a worthy lesson to be learned for adult medicine as well. As Buchbinder explains, she felt the efficacy of the multidisciplinary clinic stemmed from how much it wrapped around its patients in a way that a single pill cannot. Then, perhaps our opioid crisis is many crises in one: a crisis of understanding pain in its social fullness and a crisis of care and meaning-making in medicine. The Love Connection, this is number four in our series on the Six Basic Human Needs Remember the song, “What’s Love Got to do With It.  Loves got everything to do with it.  We all have this deep down desire to be loved, but many people go out looking for love just like another song says “… In All the Wrong Places”.  They have that roaming eye, that desire to be with someone when they don’t even know who they are.  That one night stand, satisfaction for about 10 – 15 minutes and then it wears off and they feel that sense of loneliness and the pain that it didn’t work out again. In scripture Jesus states that the greatest commandment is to love.  Not talking about a sexual or romantic love, but the true deep love.  But before you can be loved and cared for, you have to put yourself out there and be vulnerable.  It is called the “Servant Attitude” of taking that first step.  When you do for other people, they will be thankful and have a sense of love or being cared for.  It starts from you.  We need to do for others like we want them to do for us.  If you want them to care about you and love you, then you need to start loving other people and doing for them.  It is a choice.  We can’t always be on the receiving end of things.   Podcast Episode 29 spoke about whether you are a taker or a giver; which one are you?  You can listen to this episode by clicking here  If you are always on the taking side then you are not going to feel that sense of love that you are looking for.  True love comes with caring for someone else.  When you care for someone then they in turn will love you back.  We need to make a choice.  In order to be loved we need to choose to love first.  People who are truly successful in life are the ones that have learned to put others first.  They take time to make others feel cared for and feel special and then they in turn feel love and are able to keep “Surging Forward” in life. Two major announcements: This is the first episode in our new "Science of Storytelling" series; and Save Against Fear, a remarkable gaming convention and fundraiser for sexually traumatized kids, is the weekend of October 11th-13th. You're going to be hearing much more about Save Against Fear in the future! In this episode, Grant, Peter, and Branden (but mostly Branden) explain the continuous plot structure used in almost all movie scripts. (See our full show notes for a copy of that outline!) Then, Branden walks us through creating an actual plot for a game using the outline he laid out in the first half of the episode.
