GUEST BIO Summer Swee-Singh is an AAPI studio/event/touring pianist and keyboardist, string and orchestral arranger, composer, music director, string contractor, backing vocalist, and music educator. Summer graduated from UC Berkeley with a B.A. in Legal Studies and a Music Minor. After graduating, she worked full-time at Jones Day San Francisco, a law firm, as their Recruiting and HR Assistant and was planning on applying to law schools when she decided to take a chance on her passion—music. She cold-called her way into her first piano residencies, as she had no music industry connections when she first transitioned to a music career, and her unique piano and string arrangements that she posted to social media led to her first touring experience ever with the band Circa Survive. Now Summer's notable studio and live performance credits include Bebe Rexha, KSHMR, Chon, Circa Survive, Naia Izumi, Roddy Ricch, Anthony Green, Chief Keef, Keiynan Lonsdale, Until the Ribbon Breaks, Gashi, Thunder Jackson, Mothe, Psychic Barber, and Alexandra Shipp. Summer also founded and runs the blog AAPI Musicians and its corresponding Instagram which spotlight established AAPI music creators and touring pros. Summer Swee-Singh Insta | TikTok | Web DEFINITIONS Patriarchy is a social system in which positions of dominance and privilege are primarily held by men. TAKEAWAYS Statistically, if you cold-call enough potential clients, you're bound to get a few good leads. The first gig is the hardest to land, but each gig opens doors to more opportunities. So get those first few and blow their socks off. Women in the music industry are often assumed to be less competent than men before they even play the first note. Their looks are also micromanaged while men rarely get any comments on their outfits. If you ever find yourself questioning a woman's abilities, or criticizing her outfit in your head, stop yourself and ask - would I ask these same questions if she was my white male buddy? If not, congratulations, you have just recognized a subconscious bias that you now have the power to dismantle in your own life. Women can also be sexist toward other women and often are, so we need to examine ourselves too and choose to uplift each other instead. Lack of transparency in auditions causes many like Summer to waste their time on try outs that were never going to land them anything because of their race, ethnicity, or gender. A career in music isn't limited to starving musician or Beyonce level fame. There is a middle class where you can be successful and financially stable, without being a household name. Careers don't have to be static. If you want your kids to learn an instrument, let them play music they love. Representation inspires people to consider paths they didn't think were possible for them before. Money is important, but it isn't everything. Our fulfillment, our physical and mental health, and time spent with loved ones are equally important variables in the equation for success. A chance to play a role of a lifetime is a dream come true for this week's guest, but how did the role of her parents influence her decision? In Ep.28 of Season 2, we speak to Zoha Rahman, who starred in the Marvel movie, "Spiderman: Far From Home", as the first hijabi character. We chat with Zoha about representation in the media and her thoughts on tokenism, as well as starting a career in acting; a profession not too often touched by those in our community. We also dive into the many conversations Zoha has had with her parents as she opened up to them about her hopes and aspirations. Many who choose an unconventional career route know this conversation doesn't go over too well, but the actress walks us through how she navigated the discussion and how she kept working toward her goals without the initial support from her parents. The conversation continues as we talk about the basic fundamentals we should raise our young girls with and how we can continue to support each other. From just a dream to actually seeing her name in lights, Zoha proves with hard work, determination and faith, anything we put our minds to is truly possible! Tons of gems and plenty of sistarhood. Tiqura is the owner and founder of Sacred Womb Holistics Hi there, I am Tiqura McCowan The Inner Child Healer, Birth & Pregnancy Loss Coach, Oracle Reader, and Explorer of the Spiritual World. My offering in this lifetime is my own divine philosophy of life and to show others how to refine their inner visions along my own journey. My personal journey of doing inner child work, overcoming blockages & healing my womb after facing a pregnancy loss; is the spark of inspiration that has led me to birthing the vision of Sacred Womb Holistics. The womb is not only the portal for human life. When the womb is honored, nurtured and respected, she becomes a channel for our power, creativity, beauty, intuition, and passion to birth the life we vision. It is time for us to remember the power in our bloodlines and be active in our own womb care. When women receive nourishing care and are witnessed in our physical, emotional, spiritual, and mental processes, we remember who we are: divine creators, medicine women, oracles, artists, leaders, mothers of the future. Let's evolve together! Sacred Womb Circle

Episode 220: If you want to create and cultivate more wisdom in your life, you must allow yourself to enter new phases of life. There are many ways to explore the changing stages of a woman’s life. In this episode, we explore the cycles of a woman’s life reflected in the three stages of the Triple Goddess: The Maiden, the Mother and the Crone. Understanding these three phases or archetypes of life has given me a deep appreciation for being a woman and I hope it does the same for you. Show notes: Apply for my 1:1 coaching to further explore the Triple Goddess archetypes HERE To get a list of my top 100 favourite books FOR FREE, go HERE The article I reference to go deeper into these archetypes HERE The Maiden, the Mother and the Crone are each present within you. The archetype that is the most misunderstood. The archetype that makes me emotional.  The Maiden represents: enchantment, inception, growth, expansion, new beginnings, youthfulness, playfulness, carefree, virgin energy. The Maiden’s job: to come to know her own thoughts, ideas, values, and purpose, and to dream and generate vision for her life. The Maiden: spring season/waxing moon. The Maiden's shadow side: caught up in taking chances without the wisdom to go along with it, dangerous in risk taking, refuse to take on insights from others and needs approval from others. The Mother represents: giving and compassion, a fullness, flourishing, rich/colorful, ripeness, fulfillment, stability, power. The Mother's shadow side: controlling, critical, over giving of who you are, abandon your own individuality. The Mother: summer season/full moon. “If we want to have a healthy mother, we have to be very in touch with our maiden.” The Mother’s job: to actualize the dreams of the Maiden and to become in touch with who she really is. The Crone represents: a sense of letting go, returning to your roots, represents wisdom, energy of surrender, no longer needing to prove anything to anyone, a fullness of wisdom, trustable, reliable, honest. The Crone’s job: to share her knowledge with others.  The Crone's shadow side: can be resentful and bitter if she has regrets. The Crone: winter/autumn/ waning moon “Whenever you are in the Crone archetype, you’re closer to the fullness of God that is love.” Society and the media knows that the more they pressure us to stay in the archetype of the maiden, the more we will spend. “We are pressured to have the maiden body, life and mindset, but we’re not fulfilling our duties here to be the divine feminine if we don’t go through all of the stages.” My invitation to you is do not go back to who you were. All of life is forward motion. You are not meant to be the maiden forever. You are meant to change and grow. “If you want to create and cultivate more wisdom in your life, you must allow yourself to enter new phases of life.” Honor the changing phases and know that you have a maiden, mother, crone within you at all times. La ville de Détroit a souffert des crises du pétroles, des crises économiques,... mais elle n'oublie pas sa devise :Nous espérons des temps meilleurs, elle renaîtra de ses cendres.►►► [REPLAY] Reprends Moi / 1er épisodeLa playlistThe Originals - The exodus song (1972) - reprise de Ernest Gold (1961) Eminem - Wanksta (2003) - reprise de Fifty Cents (2002) Diana Ross et Marvin Gaye - Stop, look, listen (to your heart) (1973) -  reprise des The Stylistics (1971)The Detroit Esmerald - And I love her (1971) - reprise des Beatles (1964) Madonna - Santa baby (1987) - repris de Eartha Kitt (1953)Jack White - Sittin on the top of the world (2003) - reprise des The Mississippi Sheiks (1930) Iggy Pop - We have all the time in the world (1997) - reprise de Louis Amstrong (1969)Bob Seger - If i were a carpenter (1972) - reprise de Tim Hardin (1968) The Miracles - California soul (1969) - reprise des The Messengers (1968) The Capitols - Knock on wood (1966) - reprise d'Eddy Floyd (1966) Aretha Franklin - A change is gonna come (1967) - reprise de Sam Cooke (1964)Wilson Pickett - She is looking good (1968) - reprise de Rodger Collins (1967) Big Sean - Minds playing Tricks on me (2009) - reprise des Geto Boys (1991)Stevie Wonder - We can work it out (1970) - reprise des Beatles (1965)[caption id="attachment_44951" align="aligncenter" width="1024"] Flickr - Creative Commons © soupstance[/caption]
