This episode proves that nothing gold can stay, especially your 401k, as we kick things off with the revelation that October saw the worst tech layoffs since 2003, all while "Big Short" genius Michael Burry decided to bet a billion dollars on the inevitable AI bubble bursting. The villains of the week are legion: the FCC is officially making it easier for internet companies to charge us even more hidden fees; Elon Musk not only got his $1 trillion pay package approved—despite Tesla sales collapsing nearly 90% in some countries—but he also teased a flying car, clearly living in his own "Golden Dome" fantasy, which the Pentagon is happily subsidizing; and in a stunning display of entitlement, Mark Zuckerberg opened an illegal school, which is somehow less shocking than Meta's claim that their massive porn stash was purely for "personal use," not AI training. The bad news doesn't stop there, with Texas suing Roblox over 'pixel pedophiles,' though at least a rural Michigan healthcare system is doing some good by using drones to improve care.Jumping over to Media Candy, since we're all emotionally scarred by the sheer awful-ness of The Witcher S4—a season so bad it "broke" The Critical Drinker—we need some comfort viewing. We're deep-diving into the political chess of The Diplomat and escaping into the sheer volume of competitive cooking shows, including the standard Halloween and Holiday Baking Championships, plus the delightfully ridiculous Harry Potter: Wizards of Baking S2; we also took a look at Pluribus, Knife Edge, Black Rabbit, and the trailer for Tron: Ares, while cheering the fact that Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz are set to revive The Mummy franchise for a fourth film. In Apps & Doodads, we're all mourning the eventual death of simple, good tech as we're warned to enjoy Apple CarPlay while we still can, but at least the Lego ‘Star Trek' Set is finally here for our inner child; the real question, though, is why Automattic Inc. thinks they can claim ownership of the actual word 'Automatic.'Finally, The Dark Side with Dave Bittner reminds us that everything old is new again and ripe for monetization, whether it's Miss Piggy potentially bringing back The Muppets to the movies or the sleek, blacked-out remake of the Commodore 64, not to mention that cool Tron Arcade Cabinet Miniature Model. However, the present is still a complete dumpster fire: a Google AI model allegedly accused a senator of sexual assault, and internal documents show that Meta is earning a fortune on a massive deluge of fraudulent ads, proving that the only thing getting healthier is our paranoia, though Dave did throw in a curveball with some special jar lids and seeds for growing organic sprouts. We finish, as always, with the obligatory Closing Shout-Outs because even cynical geeks need validation.Sponsors:MasterClass - Get an additional 15% off any annual membership at MASTERCLASS.com/GRUMPYOLDGEEKSGusto - Try Gusto today at gusto.com/grumpy, and get three months free when you run your first payroll.Private Internet Access - Go to GOG.Show/vpn and sign up today. In this Friday Headline Brief of The Wright Report, Bryan covers the U.S. government shutdown's impact on national security, Democrats' energy messaging strategy, Ford's massive electric truck losses, China's latest espionage scandal, and new medical research linking heart and brain health. U.S. Troops Told to Visit German Food Banks: A U.S. Army base in Bavaria posted a list of local soup kitchens for service members and families struggling during the shutdown — a move that shocked German media and sparked Pentagon embarrassment. Bryan warns foreign spy agencies could exploit unpaid American personnel for recruitment, saying, "That's how the CIA would target desperate officers abroad — and it's happening to us now." Democrats' Winning Playbook: Democrats' recent election victories were fueled by economic messaging, especially on rising energy costs. Bryan explains how candidates tied AI data centers and electric vehicles to higher utility bills — a strategy Republicans must counter before 2026. Ford's Electric F-150 Collapse: The automaker faces $13 billion in losses after poor demand for its Lightning pickup. Bryan notes Toyota's hybrid-first strategy is proving right, calling the EV rush "a cultish demand that ignored market reality." China's Espionage and Agricultural Games: Three Chinese nationals in Michigan were arrested for smuggling genetically modified worms, while Beijing signed $5 billion in new U.S. grain deals. Bryan warns that "China is both robbing our labs and buying our fields." Trump Weighs Action in Nigeria and Venezuela: The President is considering U.S. military intervention in Nigeria to protect Christians from Islamist attacks while reviewing regime-change options in Venezuela. Bryan asks listeners to consider: "How many American lives would we trade to save others abroad?" Dementia and Heart Disease Discoveries: British scientists found that small increases in heart enzyme levels may predict dementia risk years before symptoms. Meanwhile, South Korean researchers discovered gut bacteria linked to coronary artery disease, reinforcing the connection between diet, heart health, and brain function.   "And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." - John 8:32     Keywords: U.S. Army Bavaria food banks shutdown, Pentagon security risk spy recruitment, Democrats energy utility bill messaging, Ford F-150 Lightning EV losses, Toyota hybrid success, Chinese bioresearch smuggling Michigan, Trump Nigeria Christians military intervention, Venezuela Maduro regime change debate, dementia heart enzyme biomarker, gut bacteria coronary artery disease

Jeremiah shares how he uses rain days for deep team meetings and SOP creation, while Brian explains why he's investing in training spaces, VAs, and systems that create long-term results. The two also touch on the behind-the-scenes realities of hosting events like LAL, investing heavily in your company before profits appear, and balancing growth with sanity. The conversation wraps with lighthearted moments from Thanksgiving food partitions to Christmas light installs, showing the friendship and mutual respect between two leaders pushing each other to the next level. Whether you're prepping for LAL or trying to get through your own version of "rain days," this episode reminds you that success comes from discipline, preparation, and a willingness to keep showing up. Most of us have a daily plan that includes a routine of productive habits. Sometimes the plan happens. And you have a few days, maybe even a week of things running smoothly. Then there is an interruption. And all of the sudden days have gone by and your plan hasn't happened at all. At the top of this list is often our habits regarding eating and exercise. In all our areas of life where we seek to develop good habits and get better results, there is new information that the areas of diet and exercise don't work like the others and are the areas we most fail, because, life happens. This new information is brought to us by Dr Michelle Segar who sat down with a couple of years ago. Michelle takes our cultural concept of habits to task. We're going to talk about her groundbreaking, decision-making framework—and the science behind it—to give hope to the millions of what she calls, “unhabiters,” who are frustrated with their failure to keep up all the good habits they intend to engage with, and discuss a behavior-change solution designed for them. We are enamored with creating habits in our lives that will give us the success we want, but what you're about to find out is the normal framework and perspective of habits we have doesn't work for…a lot of us. But there is a solution that will, and it's why I have Michelle on the show. Michelle is an award-winning, National Institute of Health funded sustainable behavior change researcher at the University of Michigan and a lifestyle coach. For nearly three decades, she has pioneered methods to create sustainable healthy behavior changes that are being used to boost patient health, employee well-being, and even gym membership retention. Are Near Death Experiences real?

In your final moments, they say, you may walk down a tunnel of light. You might rise above your body, watching the scene below before passing into another world. Perhaps you'll be met by glowing figures, see your life flash before your eyes, or feel a deep, unearthly calm. These are the stories of people who've reached the edge of death and returned. They're not rare, nor random, and they have a name: Near-Death Experiences. CrowdScience listener Steven in Chile first heard of them during a CPR class and wondered, are they fictitious? Psychologist Susan Blackmore once had an out-of-body experience as a student in Oxford, UK — floating above herself before soaring over the rooftops and dissolving into the universe. That single moment changed everything. She's spent her career trying to understand what happened, and she believes such experiences are explainable. At the University of Michigan in the US, neuroscientist Professor Jimo Borjigin has done what few have dared: record the dying brain in action. Her studies show that even after the heart stops, the brain can produce powerful surges of coordinated activity, bursts that might explain the lights, the tunnels, and the sense of peace. She believes Near-Death Experiences could become one of science's most intriguing scientific frontiers for research into consciousness. At University College London in the UK, neuroscientist Dr Christopher Timmermann is exploring similar states using psychedelics, pushing the boundaries between self and oblivion to identify what induces a near death experience and what we can learn about our consciousness along the way. Near death experiences, a paranormal mystery or explainable phenomenon? He candidly shares the painful lesson of losing $10,000 on a laundromat deal due to a ghosting partner, emphasizing the critical importance of contracts and proof of funds. This segment is a masterclass in learning the hard way, so you don't have to!The Eureka Moment: Why Note Investing Beat Being a Landlord. His "Note Genius" YouTube channel breaks down complex topics like "What is note investing?" and "Due Diligence," not just to help others, but also as a personal learning mechanism. He's proving that you don't need to be a seasoned guru to share valuable insights and build a community. The Power of Authenticity: Why "I Don't Know" is Your Best Asset. Brian and the host emphasize the incredible value of transparency and humility in the real estate world. Brian shares how wearing his "passive income" hat sparks conversations, and why being open about his learning process – even sharing mistakes like the $10K loss – builds far more credibility than pretending to know everything. He also highlights the importance of networking in ambitious cities like San Diego, where capital and connections abound.Brian Royster is a testament to the fact that you don't have to be a grey-haired guru to dive deep into real estate. His journey, marked by persistence, smart pivots, and a genuine desire to learn and share, is an inspiration for anyone looking to make their mark in real estate investing, especially in the notes space.Check out Bryan's YouTube Channel Here!Watch the Original VIDEO HERE!Book a call with Scott HERE!Sign up for the next Note Buying For Dummies Workshop HERE!Love the show? Tara exposes a series of shocking truths—from the Wuhan lab origins of COVID-19 and government censorship, to Chinese researchers smuggling weaponized pathogens into the U.S., to the infiltration of U.S. universities by foreign agents. She also explores alarming trends in American politics, crime glorification, economic sabotage, and workforce instability. This episode is a hard-hitting examination of threats to national security, public health, and everyday American life. Lies, cover-ups, bioweapons, and a country teetering on the edge—what you're not being told. In this explosive episode, Tara unpacks multiple crises facing the United States: 1. **COVID Origins and Cover-Ups:** UNC virologist Ralph Baric briefed U.S. intelligence agencies in January 2020 that COVID-19 originated in the Wuhan military lab, yet government agencies, social media platforms, and leading officials censored and misrepresented the facts for years. 2. **Funding Controversy:** Millions in U.S. taxpayer dollars from the Pentagon and USAID were sent to the Wuhan lab, raising questions about accountability and potential complicity in the pandemic's spread. 3. **Bioweapon Smuggling:** Chinese researchers at the University of Michigan have been caught attempting to smuggle genetically modified pathogens, including weaponized blight and ringworm, threatening American agriculture and public health. 4. **Political and Social Chaos:** Tara discusses alarming trends in U.S. politics, including crime glorification, illegal immigrant candidates, extremist political aspirants, and infiltration of government and defense agencies by foreign actors. 5. **Economic Instability:** October layoffs hit a 22-year high, while Federal Reserve actions, influenced by political agendas, are affecting job growth and economic stability. 6. **Cultural and Social Shifts:** Observations on early holiday displays, side hustles, and changing societal norms reflect a nation under stress and transition. This episode blends investigative reporting, national security concerns, and social commentary, warning listeners of the hidden forces shaping America's present and future. Deadly pathogens, compromised institutions, and a threat straight out of Revelation — are we prepared? Tara dives into the alarming cases of Chinese researchers caught smuggling weaponized pathogens into the U.S., including deadly blights and genetically modified ringworm. With multiple arrests tied to the University of Michigan, this episode examines the potential risks to America's food supply, national security, and public health. Experts like Gordon Chang warn of systemic vulnerabilities in U.S. universities and visa programs, highlighting the dangers of foreign infiltration while negotiations and trade deals continue. In this episode, Tara explores the shocking reality of biological threats being smuggled into the United States by foreign researchers: Smuggling Cases Uncovered: At least six Chinese nationals associated with the University of Michigan have been arrested this year for attempting to bring dangerous pathogens into the U.S., including weaponized blight and ringworm. Potential Devastation: These pathogens pose catastrophic risks to America's agriculture and public health, potentially causing mass crop failure, livestock destruction, neurological damage, reproductive disorders, and death. Systemic Vulnerabilities: U.S. universities and visa programs are under scrutiny for allowing foreign researchers access to sensitive research positions, with concerns about espionage, intellectual property theft, and bioweapon development. Warnings Ignored: Experts, including Gordon Chang, emphasize that the infiltration of foreign nationals into STEM programs is not adequately addressed, and doubling visa programs could exacerbate the threat. Global and Moral Implications: While trade negotiations continue, the episode raises urgent questions about America's preparedness, the integrity of research institutions, and the potential consequences if these pathogens escaped containment. This episode uncovers a hidden threat to national security, blending modern science, espionage, and global politics in a chilling warning reminiscent of apocalyptic literature. bioweapons, China, University of Michigan, pathogen smuggling, agricultural security, food supply, U.S. national security, genetically modified organisms, ringworm, blight, Chinese nationals, visa students, STEM espionage, Gordon Chang, public health, FBI, pandemic threat, Tara Show, Revelation comparison, U.S. government oversight, foreign infiltration

Nick Anderson/Raw Story  On this week's show... The Donald Trump Hunger Games begin with the administration doing as little as possible to comply with a court-ordered continuation of SNAP Benefits. For millions of Americans, it means going hungry … just not quite as hungry as Trump had wanted. The Trump shutdown is officially the longest in U.S. history, surpassing the record of 35 days set during the first Trump term. With Trump's administration failing on the economy, foreign policy, healthcare and basic competence in the background, Democrats sweep the handful of off-year elections including flipping Virginia's governor's office and holding on in New Jersey. We'll do a post-mortem on the election, and the impact on Michigan politics, with former Obama Communications Director Jennifer Palmieri. Two updates on Michigan's congressional races: a familiar name enters the GOP primary to replace John James, and new polling shows Lansing-area Congressman Tom Barrett trailing two relatively unknown Democrats. A former top aide to former state House Speaker Lee Chatfield pleads guilty to assorted corruption charges ... and agrees to testify against his former boss. The latest political shocker nationally: Marjorie Taylor Greene is talking about running for President. Of the United States. Yes, that MTG! And the Subway Sandwich Terrorism trial has ended with an acquittal. Sean Dunn was charged with misdemeanor assault after hitting a federal agent with a “sub-style sandwich.” Apparently ICE agents consider mustard a weapon of mass destruction...but the prosecution's case, it turns out, was toast. Dunn reportedly relished the decision. There were, of course, a lot of significant elections on Tuesday. Joining the post-election analysis is guest commentator Jennifer Palmieri. Her credentials include three years as Barack Obama's Communications Director and then Director of Communications for the Hillary Clinton 2016 presidential campaign. Before her service at the White House, she was the National Press Secretary for the 2004 John Edwards presidential campaign and for the Democratic National Committee in 2002, after a brief time at the advocacy group Americans for Gun Safety. She served in the Clinton Administration as Special Assistant to White House Chief of Staff Leon Panetta, deputy director of Scheduling and Advance, and finally as a Deputy White House Press Secretary. More recently she co-hosted the political documentary series "The Circus" on Showtime with John Heilman, Alex Wagner and Mark McKinnon. drewsheneman.substack.com

What he found out there would blur the line between science fiction and reality forever. After interviewing last season’s Golden Bachelor Gerry Turner in studio last week for our other podcast “I Do Part 2”, we decided to binge season 2! We JUST finished part one of the finale and it’s down to 62 year old Peg and 60 year old Cindy! We’ve been rooting for the women who showed up for love, but fans have been “meh” on Mel. 66 year old Mel Owens is retired NFL player, a divorced Dad of 2, and seemingly a nice guy from Michigan. But as the Bachelor franchise struggles with its ratings, Season 2 of “The Golden Bachelor” is weighing it down even further, and the question has become: Has this reality series jumped the shark, or did producers just pick the wrong lead? Things Discussed: Bryce Underwood: Progress isn't linear. Jordan Marshall and the offensive line: The redshirt freshmen will save us! They're already playing at close to a Big Ten level. Defense: Purdue was very college crappe. I asked them to be vanilla, they were, and I'll take my lumps. Mad at special teams for not putting them back enough because the way Purdue plays they need to be able to take a TFL or a sack, or need to have a 4th down strategy. We're rotating an extreme amount, also there are extreme levels of injury: Any team that loses Rolder, Sullivan, and Barham isn't going to be great at LB. Protected the kids by blitzing them. Vance disappointed in the DTs: they were in the wrong gap sometimes on those LB blitzes. I saw Pierce do that once in the 1st half, haven't gotten to the 2nd half yet. DTs to me are Benny & Pierce, then a big gap to a lot of innings eaters, where Etta is more of a pass-rush option and Payne, Williams and Ike. You're playing a tempo team and they're only in there for three snaps. Running the DTs on and off the field is wearing them out as much as playing. Three snaps is three deadlifts of a 300-pound guy, then you're sprinting a 300+ pound body off the field. Too much rotation: They got on a 19-play drive with a quarter break and at no point in that drive did Michigan have their best available players on the field at over 50% of the spots. Brandt is not on Moore's or Guy's level. Ratios are way off. Brandt plays as much as Derrick, more than Guy. Are guys going to leave if they don't get PT? That's true but 1) That doesn't explain having starters playing 40% of snaps, 2) That's not the culture of this program. The culture of this program wasn't "You get yours" it was "Egos don't matter as much as the Team." That 2023 team had multiple "starters" because Harrell and Stewart could both play at a high level, sophomore D-Mo and McGregor could both play at a high level. If it's a program goal to get guys snaps against Purdue, go and beat Purdue first and then when you're up three touchdowns get your guys in. Offense and Bryce: He's young and doing young guy things like fleeing the pocket and forcing throws he's used to throwing. He had a terrible half and a decent half. Can't really blame Chip because he's giving him the reads, e.g. a wheel to Klein that takes advantage of Purdue taking away screens, and he throws it at Klein's feet. Also: he doesn't have receivers who make those plays for him when they're there. Klein should have caught that ball. Semaj had another one whistle through his hands. McCauley didn't adjust to a ball in the endzone. Go watch any freshman QB and you see the same things: Watch JJ in 2021. Watch Gardner when he was young. Go under center? Might help the run game but Crimes Against Man Panda. Craig talks about the 1939 Bears. Men's Hoops: Oakland was bad. Open corners were just there, they were missing two players, run a complicated zone with a new team. Trey McKinney is a knockdown shooter, and he has a little Darrius Morris (RIP) in his game. He's not Mike Smith, won't have short-arm turnovers. Good sign he can use his long arms productively. Cadeau: Wonder if he's going to have more TOs against Wake Forest. If he can keep turnovers under control this team will be very good. Defense has a very high floor. Michigan has three bigs instead of two this year, means their second-best lineup won't be a massive drop from their best. Didn't have Cason, might be that sixth guy of the year (or your starting two?) who can be Plan B for point guard and competently relieve Roddy when they full-court press him. Solution for press: Mara? Just have the freaky tall guy pass it without putting the ball on the floor. Women's Hoops: Very interesting team. They're five-out, swarming. Lots and lots of turnovers.

In this week's episode, Vance Bedford and Sam Webb discussed Michigan's defensive showing in its 21-16 win over Purdue. While they praised key defensive stands, they also noted repeated mistakes from earlier in the season. Bedford criticized the Wolverines for playing down to Purdue's level, especially calling out the defensive line for being out of position and causing poor run defense. However, he highlighted Wink Martindale's "sound" strategy to protect young, injury-replacement linebackers, and also praised captain Ernest Hausmann. Wrapping up the segment, Bedford concluded with a call for fundamental improvement, particularly in pass defense, during the bye week. In this week's episode Al Borges and Sam Webb discussed Michigan's offensive performance in its 21-16 victory over Purdue. Borges highlighted five missed throws that could have been significant plays, attributing some to Bryce Underwood's learning curve. He praised Jordan Marshall's performance, noting his 12 first downs and three touchdowns. Shifting back to Underwood, Borges emphasized the importance of reps and confidence-building drills. He also mentioned the impact of turnovers and the need for more quick rhythm throws. The conversation included insights on Underwood's mechanics, the influence of game conditions, and the potential benefits of the bye week for improvement. Drama, Darling with Amy Phillips

It's great to be back in the oasis here in Santa Clarita to recap the end of a very odd season of Orange County. Before we talk about OC, I share about my trip to Michigan for my dad's memorable 85th birthday party at the beautiful Ford House. Plus, Halloween and my daughter's Princess Leia costume. Emily shares her own Halloween barricade woes in California. Then we talk Orange County recap, uncovering the social media scandal surrounding Gretchen and the big fallout with everyone in the cast. The highlight of the finale was Shannon's hilarious skirt mishap. I am very interested to see the reunion and how all of this will be discussed!TICKETS to CabarAMY @ The Hard Rock Vegas:https://www.ticketweb.com/search?q=%22CabarAmy%22+Live+Comedy+Show For more Drama, Darling, and exclusive content, subscribe to Patreon:http://Patreon.com/dramadarlingFollow Drama, Darling on Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/dramadarlingshow/  Email Drama, Darling with YOUR comments, questions and drama: DramaDarlingz@gmail.com Follow Amy Phillips on Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/dramadarlingshow/  Get 15% off OneSkin, go to: https://www.oneskin.co/ Code: DRAMA Get 20% OFF Honeylove by going to https://www.honeylove.com/DRAMA Promo Code: DRAMAJones Road Beauty, modern Day clean makeup.
