Segment 2: • Todd walks Jose walks through the Ten Commandments and Jose admits guilt, agreeing he'd be judged guilty. • Todd presents the gospel: Jesus took Jose's punishment, offering forgiveness through repentance and faith. • Jose is intrigued but unsure, doubting whether humans can truly know what's true. Segment 3: • Robert identifies as Machiavellian, believes people are mostly good despite moral failures. • Todd highlights Robert's sin (e.g. 5,000 lustful thoughts), arguing goodness isn't enough. • Robert believes Jesus died for sinners but hasn't repented—he admits it's worth pondering. Segment 4: • Student asks: “What's the point of life?” Claims moral living is enough without religion. • Admits to sin but believes intentions and regret soften the guilt. • Todd explains the gospel and challenges him to investigate if it's true—eternity is at stake. – Preorder the new book, Lies My Therapist Told Me, by Fortis Institute Fellow Dr. Greg Gifford now! https://www.harpercollins.com/pages/liesmytherapisttoldme – Thanks for listening! During the pandemic, Etienne Labuschagne, a lawyer by trade, wrote and shared children's stories with parents of young children for free. They were initially inspired by the grandchildren he hoped to read to one day. Now the lawyer-turned-High Court judge in South Africa has had his writings published in a book, Bedtime Stories For Clever Kids (Austin Macauley Publishers), sharing stimulating stories that teach, enlighten, and entertain children – and parents. “When you read the stories, you will see that they are not typical,” says the author. “Complex themes are introduced in a safe environment in order to broaden the minds of children. I remember reading children's books to my kids that were mind - numbingly boring. I understand the need for simplicity, but kids are more perceptive than we imagine. They make associations and pick up nuances that will surprise us. And they are curious. Show them something new and they will want to know more. Kids and parents will talk at bedtime about themes or events that emerge from the stories. Bedtime presents an occasion when kids unwind and become receptive to new learning. Bedtime Stories for Clever Kids will help to stimulate the conversation.” Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/arroe-collins-like-it-s-live--4113802/support.

Today's our last episode before our Christmas break. Sad, I know, but we have such a great guest: Sadie Dingfelder. She wrote the most excellent book “Do I Know You? A Faceblind Reporter's Journey into the Science of Sight, Memory, and Imagination.” Our conversation not only delved into face blindness (prosopagnosia) but also covered neurodivergence, aphantasia, and the importance of effective science communication. We also discussed films and literature centered around Face Blindness: the new NBC series Brillant Minds starring Zachary Quinto, KDramas like Rich Man, Poor Woman, 100 Days My Prince, and The Beauty Inside, and the book Hello Stranger. Not only did Sadie consult on the book, but the author Katherine Center named the lead character after her! Zachary Quinto has played doctors before, but he's “never played a doctor like” the one he plays on NBC's Brilliant Minds (September 23). Quinto plays Dr. Oliver Wolf, “based on a real-life person called Oliver Sacks, who was a world renowned, iconic neurologist and prolific author, complex, interesting, dynamic, beautiful person.” One of the things that stood out to Quinto was how unique the show is. “There have been so many wonderful and influential medical dramas over the years, and a lot of them deal with cases that are easily identifiable or solvable...in our show, the mysteries don't often have a fix. I love living in that space of the unknown.” Quinto is most proud of being part of a show that often has a hopeful message. “It's looking toward the light. That's something I think we can all use a little bit more of.” But Quinto doesn't feel the pressure to sell the show, partly because it has “humor and heart and light and love, but also substance.” “I'm not really interested in having my experience or my life be dictated by things that I have no control over.”See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
