When a woman is in her power, when she is feeling good about herself, feels good in her own skin, and confident in who she is, there’s a certain energy that she exudes that can turn every head in the room. Unfortunately, as girls we are encouraged to stay small, to avoid being “too much” and so it can feel uncomfortable to let ourselves fully shine. Robin’s special guest, Nicole Buratti, shares a method she developed for women to reclaim their power, mend their relationships, and fully explore their sexuality. In this fascinating conversation all about sex, you’ll discover aphrodisiac foods to boost libido, mindful masturbation techniques, and how a healthy pelvic floor can increase sexual pleasure. You’ll learn more about the orgasm response, sexual tension, and what it means to relax into an orgasm. Plus Nicole shares three of her favorite oral techniques! Meet your community where they are at. HINT: They are not all in the yoga studios. You are a yoga teacher, and if I had to guess...you are already comfortable going against the grain. By choosing this path, you are already traveling down the road less traveled by. So why is it different on our yoga teaching journey? Ashley Zuberi, of Inhale Thrive, explains that when many yoga studios offer westernized vinyasa yoga and many yoga instructors are in pursuit of teaching at these popular spaces....it leaves out a whole bunch of our population that is not being served. This pervasive type of practice is not only inaccessible to large parts of our community but also tends to conveniently look over many of the yoga teachings. As yoga teachers, we have to "think outside the box" as we choose the services and offerings to provide to our community. One size does not fit all, for student nor for teacher. Both Ashley and I agree that teaching at yoga studios full-time is not the best pathway for every single instructor. There are so many different avenues for us to pursue or even create! I personally LOVE teaching at yoga studios and I view myself in this environment for a long time but it is not the only way I chose to serve my community. I supplement this services with other offerings and I encourage any other teacher to truly "teach out outside the box, to reach outside the box."Show notes and contact information at www.theElegantOutlaw.comSupport the show (https://www.theelegantoutlaw.com/become-patron)

They also review a couple of new national polls on the Democratic field, the first from Taubman (https://watson.brown.edu/taubman/files/taubman/imce/taubman_national_f2019 %281%29.pdf) and the second from Politico/Morning Consult (https://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2020/president/us/2020_democratic_presidential_nomination-6730.html). A big topic of conversation is comparing the 2 polls, and why they are should different results, and the different methodologies used for each. Rory and Adam look at the Politico polling tracking over time, and how polls should be looked at over a longer period of time to look for trends rather than a spot in time, similar to tracking studies for brands. In the next segment, Rory gives us an impeachment polling update, looking at the summaries provided by the Washington Post (https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2019/12/03/americans-are-split-impeachment-just-like-they-were-before-public-hearings/), specifically how the results differ among Independents and in swing states. And, Abby is the President and CEO of the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA). While I'm sure many of you, as I, still refer to this tradeshow as SPI, one of the first things we discussed is the rebrand to being North America Smart Energy Week (NASEW). Our conversation was framed by many other questions that perhaps some of you have asked yourselves recently, such as why Salt Lake City for this year's SPI, or how much time they plan in advance to decide venues? Julia and Abby also gave their insights into the expectations for SPI as the largest clean energy show in North America. Together, they run two of the most prominent organizations providing advocacy for the solar and smart-power industries. Julia is the President and CEO of the Smart Electric Power Alliance (SEPA). SPI has definitely evolved over the last decade+, so Julia and Abby took the time to explain why that matters to all of us who have been focused predominantly on solar during that time (Hint: They are taking more market share!) Thanks to SETS, SEIA, and SEPA for hosting the Podcast Lounge Live at SPI, ESI & North America Smart Energy Week (NASEW) 2019. Remember you can always find me on Twitter, LinkedIn or email and you can get the resources and learn more about today’s guest & recommendations on the SunCast Blog. Social security is going to make up a significant piece of your retirement income.  Do you know how it works?  Are you afraid that what you don’t know is going to hurt you? This week I’m super excited to have Marcia Mantell join me.  Marcia has spent the last 30 years teaching retirement planners how retirement and social security work.   She has a new book out called “What’s the Deal With Women and Social Security?” Today’s she’s going to talk to us about what women specifically need to know about social security to have successful retirements. Here are a few of the topics we cover:  How can stay at home moms collect social security based on what their husbands earns. What’s the difference between retirement and social security (HINT: They aren’t the same thing). What happens if you decide to start taking social security at 62 versus 67 (HINT: You’re leaving boku dollars on the table). How your husband’s decision to take social security will affect you. What happens if your husband dies and you still have children under 18. Why the funeral director will become an important player in your future. What happens if you’re the breadwinner and your husband is a stay at home dad. Why your ex-husband may become your new best friend. Beyond what we talk about on the show, Marcia’s book is a MUST read.  She has a light, easy to read style that makes the topics easy to absorb. Best of all, most of the book is in a story style.  If you’re a younger woman, married to an older man, and you both make the same money, there’s a chapter just for you.  If you’re an older woman, divorced and living with your significant other, there’s another chapter for you. She teaches us about what questions to ask counselors of your children, and how to see if your kid is “normal”. Hint: They are!She quells fears about how our teenagers are reaching out to people that are not us, and tactics to work through the tough parts of growing up that a lot of kids face. There are no two ways about it--being a working mother is HARD. The most difficult part, though, can be those first few weeks back after having a baby. From changes in your hormones to your body to your schedule, everything is different... yet everyone expects women to go back to work and do the exact same things they did before they left. And while that's certainly possible, it's far from easy... at least without the right help and advice. That's where best-selling author Lauren Smith Brody comes in. Her book The Fifth Trimester is here to walk you through it step by practical step. I LOVED this conversation with Lauren because I've been there before--standing in the closet full of clothing that no longer fits wondering, "What the hell am I going to wear?" Or asking my boss, "Where can I pump at work?" Or even simple things like, How do you navigate your relationship after having a baby? This conversation was a true delight and I'm SO SO excited to share it with YOU! I can't overstate the insane amount of value and practical advice Lauren offers in this interview, and in her book. Here are some of the topics we cover: + Finding childcare: Should you use in-home care, or day care? + Getting your relationship back on track after baby--the sweet spot of time spent together that research shows improves your relationship + Beauty tips--her favorite products to look "done" in five minutes or less + How to stock your closet if your regular clothes still don't fit when you head back after leave (Hint: They probably won't.) + Managing yourself, and others, at work + And so much more! I promise you'll walk away from this with not only practical advice, but also knowing that you are NOT alone in this crazy new part of life. Hello Listeners! This episode highlights an overlooked yet vital resource --BUSINESS ADVISOR-- available in your state (most likely for free). Seriously folks, do not pass GO, do not Collect $200 without one. It doesn't matter if you already have tons of business experience or just starting out. Heck, if you have that little wiggly thought about starting your own business, the best way to kick around ideas is with an experienced Business Advisor. And it's never too late to find one. This is why I am excited to do this podcast interview with Cindy Small, Business Advisor, for the University of Delaware's Small Business Development Center (SBDC). Yes, you may have guessed it, Cindy is my Business Advisor. We were connected after I filled out a few forms on www.delawareSBDC.org (www.delawareSBDC.org ) website. Let me tell you she has been a big help on many levels.  During our interview, Cindy and I discuss how she helps propel businesses forward and shares some recent success stories with women business owners. You wouldn’t believe the success they have had so far. Cindy tells us how they did it and what made a difference (HINT: They had a solid business plan). Cindy also explains why she might discourage potential business owners from even starting (HINT: Their plan or lack of a plan wasn't grounded in the realities they would face once launched). Look, no one wants their business bubble to burst, but it could save well-intentioned people thousands of dollars and tons of time wasted by having an advisor ask you tough questions and make you do the necessary work beforehand. Please have a listen and find out how you can connect with an advisor; what types of services they perform for you; and what that could mean for your business.  You can find more information about Delaware's Small Business Development Center here. Or, connect with them on Facebook @SEDAC. The foundational pieces of Quenton Nelson and Darius Leonard set the tempo. Why did both succeed as good as they did in Year 1? Also, Braden Smith was a true diamond in the rough. Ballard is a selfless individual, a rarity in today's NFL where all the GMs want to take credit for what the scouts do. This is again a reason why Indianapolis is so attractive for front office jobs. Finally, Reid analyzes the picks of Rock Ya-Sin, Ben Banogu, Parris Campbell and Bobby Okereke. Why were they so prioritized by the Colts, and how will they fit in? Hint: They will all be instant contributors, especially Ya-Sin and Campbell. We end it on how Reid views the Colts compared to the rest of the AFC. How to Get a Georgetown MBA [Show Summary] If you’re looking for a global MBA program at the intersection of business and politics that is designed for principled leaders with a strong first-year core and an elective second year where you can customize your education to your needs, listen to this interview with Georgetown McDonough’s Shelly Heinrich, Interim Associate Dean for MBA Admissions. She’ll also gives you tips for effectively approaching the Georgetown’s MBA essay options, video, interview, and more. HINT: They want people who really want Georgetown. Interview with Shelly Heinrich, Interim Associate Dean at Georgetown University McDonough School of Business [Show Notes] Today’s guest is Shelly Heinrich, Interim Associate Dean for the Georgetown McDonough School of Business (MSB). Shelly earned her bachelors in business at Texas Christian, her Masters in Educational Administration at UT Austin, and her EMBA at Georgetown. She worked at George Washington University for four years and then moved to Georgetown’s admissions office in May 2014. She became Asst Dean for Marketing, Recruitment & External Relations in July 2017 and interim Assoc Dean for MBA Admissions and Director of Marketing in September 2017. Shelly, can you give us an overview of the FT MBA program at McDonough focusing on its more distinctive elements? [2:01] We really focus on developing principled leaders. We provide a strong business core in the first year to provide a wide breadth of understanding in business. In the second year students customize the program to their interests, choosing from over 100 electives, and not having to declare a concentration. This framework allows the student to get a full picture of business but also a deeper understanding of what they really like. All students are required to participate in a global consulting experience. They work in teams for six weeks in DC solving a problem for an international client and then ends with them going overseas to present their proposal to the client. How does Georgetown take advantage of its Washington location, it’s being at the intersection of business and government? What does that mean in terms of the program, the classroom, and career placement? [4:13] You really feel at the center of it all – business, society, and politics. We consider DC a learning lab, and there are a couple ways we do that. Brand new this year is a class in the leadership curriculum called Managing the Enterprise, which involves working with a very prominent organization in DC (press release soon) working hands on with tackling the problems of leadership and people and solving a problem for this organization. This course is in the second year, so students can apply tools from the toolkit they already have. We also have a certificate in non-market strategy where students learn about the intersection of business, society, and politics. Through academic tutorials students can get academic credit by working with an organization, and the World Bank is one of them. Because of our location in a very global city, we graduate students who are interested in working in companies that are multinational, not working in isolation, as they realize the benefits of skills that cross borders. Our program is bookended with two global experiences, one I already mentioned in the second year, but our first three weeks of the program is the Structure of Global Industries, which throws new students into a project where they have to solve a mock problem for a mock client. Throughout the three weeks they learn from various professors in different disciplines that will allow them to solve a problem before even really being to business school. We also attract a very global population, with 270 students and close to 40 countries represented. About ¾ of our students have lived, worked, or studied abroad. When an applicant comes to me and says she’s interested in international development work or working in government...

Dr. Hester tells us about his time working on the Hubble and how this image was created, as well as offering his insight on the nature of beauty and the relationship between science and art (Hint: They’re not as different as you might think.) Also joining us is Zoltan Levay, the Imaging Team Lead at the Space Telescope Science Institute, whose principal responsibility is to produce and publicize pictures from the Hubble. Mr. Levay discusses the relative nature of color, his techniques for coloring and composing photographs, and the differences between the images that come to him as “data” from the telescope and the published images with which we are more familiar. Again, science and art blend as we ask why certain colors are chosen to represent various celestial bodies, and come to realize that the decisions made and processes used in the top tiers of astrophotography are not that different from those we ourselves make in our own post-processing. We also go into a tangent about dating strong independent women. Also, in case you were wondering, that was Jake's daughter in the beginning. Mail Call - We bring back Rapidfire and we answer a lot of questions about Rucka closing out his run and whether an on-going Punisher run can hack it these days. Bullet Points - We cover Fury Max #6, Punisher #16, and SPACE: Punisher #3. SPACE: Punisher actually managed to sway me back to it, much to Jake's disgust, and we also get into an argument about eugenics. I am so sorry.  Flashbacks - In honor of our 30th episode, Jake and I read What If? #58, which explores what would happen if Frank managed to kill Spider-Man in his first introduction to comics. Clearly, Frank has a good ending in this comic. Discharge Papers - I recommend the book American Tabloid by James Elroy for those that like noirish historical fiction set in Red Scare America. Jake classes things up with him and his wife watching the Dr. Jeckyll and Mr. Hyde play and talks about why the Akira movie can't match up to the manga. I also recommend the horror film anthology V/H/S, which is available On Demand and iTunes.

Church Militant The Vortex Feed

TRANSCRIPT If there has been one hallmark of the Francis pontificate, it is the politicization of the Church. And not just pure politicization, but a Marxist-flavored, globalist-socialist politicization. The leftist urges of this pope and his pontificate were ably addressed in the book, The Political Pope, by our good friend and wam-bam investigative reporter, George Neumayr. Neumayr is a senior editor for The American Spectator. He pulls together various strands of the pontificate and rightly labels it "political." Of course, there's nothing objectively wrong or immoral about a pope being involved in politics. It's pretty much unavoidable. Pope St. John Paul II was heavily involved in politics, quietly operating behind the scenes with U.S. President Ronald Reagan in helping bring about the downfall of the former Soviet Union through secret liaisons with the Polish Labor Union Solidarity and its leader Lech Wałęsa. But politics was not his chief concern and neither was helping to create a world where Marxist principles — disguised as care for the poor and climate change — ruled the day. In fact, quite the opposite was true. As it was with previous popes, any venturing into politics was always about more spiritual-minded aims than purely humanistic ones. [Transcript unavailable] Watch now for Dr. Mahoney's analysis of Francis' papacy Daniel Mahoney holds the Augustine Chair in Distinguished Scholarship at Assumption College in Worcester, Massachusetts, and earlier this year he wrote a blistering takedown of the Francis pontificate in the magazine National Review titled "Pope Francis, Wayward Shepherd." [Transcript unavailable] Mahoney is the guest on this week's Mic'd Up, which you can view by just clicking on the provided link. If you're already a premium member, it'll start right up. If you aren't, just sign up and watch the episode. In it, we trace some of the very early influences on the young Jorge Bergoglio, including one particular woman who was Marxist and — the future pope freely admits — had a tremendous influence on him. One topic Mahoney addresses is the non-Catholic response of thinking and treating the pope as though every word he says is sanctified and comes directly from God. Hint: They aren't, and they don't. Papal adulation of this sort is really a kind of recent phenomenon, where the man who is pope is almost deified by some in the Church. Remember that it wasn't until only relatively recently that Catholics even knew anything about the pope beyond his name when they heard it at Mass. Outside of that, for the vast majority of the life of the Church, they had no idea what he looked like and no idea what he even sounded like. Pope Leo XIII — of happy memory — was the first pope to ever actually be filmed, and that was only a little more than a century ago — 1896. And it was only on Feb. 13, 1931 — less than a hundred years ago — that a pope was first heard over the radio, his voice electronically transmitted, which no doubt would cause some today to pine for "the good ol' days." Even up to and into the age of television in the 1950s and 60s, seeing the pope on TV was still somewhat of a novelty, and certainly a rarity to hear him. But with the death of Pope Paul VI in 1978 and the eventual election of John Paul II, with 33 days of John Paul I in between, the papacy exploded into living rooms across the world. Here was a young, vibrant man — just 58 when elected — barnstorming across the world in dramatic, made-for-TV scenes, standing, for instance, in the midst of millions of his fellow countrymen in Poland, challenging the very existence of godless, Marxist communism by his very presence. There was the leader of the Catholic Church — the successor to St. Peter, the Rock on which Christ built his Church — facing down the forces of atheism, with an army of millions hanging on his every word. It was awe-inspiring, spectacular imagery — God vs. Satan, Heaven vs. Hell. And all of it came with massive political overtones — West vs. East, freedom vs. communism. No producer could have written this script. But what it did, aside from enthrall billions with the Church and the Pope, was to usher in a new ear for the papacy. No longer would the pope be a distant, far off, unknown personage. The papacy had gone "prime time." Seven years after Pope John Paul died, his successor, Pope Benedict — never especially comfortable in the new age of the electronic papacy — would resign, giving way to Pope Francis. Francis embraced the electronic papacy and then some, using its built-in advantage to set about changing the Church into a political force and downplaying its spiritual significance. But the politics Rome was now pushing would not be a defeat of socialism, but its resurrection, legitimizing it as a force for "good" in areas of climate change, illegal immigration and so forth. And many faithful Catholics have responded in kind, fed up with the social-justice mantra being used to usher in some kind of globalist utopia while the Faith itself is treated shabbily. [Transcript unavailable] Again, this week's Mic'd Up — well worth the watch.
