Dr. Iman Abuzeid didn't set out to disrupt the healthcare hiring system. But after she began listening more closely — especially to nurses — what she heard was an industry full of friction, delays, and burnout. Fixing that friction became the foundation for Incredible Health, a hiring marketplace now used by more than a million healthcare workers. In this episode, Dr. Abuzeid talks with host Jeff Berman about her strategic approach to expansion and how scaling allows her to have more impact — and stay true to her calling.Subscribe to the Masters of Scale weekly newsletter: https://mastersofscale.com/subscribeSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

At 4.1 percent, Australia has one of the lowest unemployment rates in the world. That should mean that most people who want a job, have a job. But for anyone looking to switch jobs or climb up the ladder it's really hard. Experienced professionals who have decades of experience are being overlooked for cheaper, younger talent. When we're out of work or want more money to thrive more expansively in our lives, it can be very stressful. Job hunts look daunting. We also may have some troubling thoughts about jobs themselves. In the inquirer who did The Work today, she thought of her past jobs as requiring her to control chaos and worry about others emotional lives, or the job was boring and urgent. Who are we without our beliefs about jobs? How can we live our turnarounds about working. Turning these thoughts about jobs around: Jobs are interesting, relaxed, and unfolding as needed. The inquirer found how she could approach her former job as someone "allowing order" instead of "controlling chaos". Her prescription for happiness. Grace Bell, facilitator of The Work, assists people to identify and question their stressful ways of looking at life. She offers Year of Inquiry, a vibrant membership community of inquirers Sept-June each year. Learn more about Year of Inquiry at https://workwithgrace.com/year-of-inquiry Grace also has a special love for those suffering from eating issues including disordered eating (disordered thinking) of all kinds--having suffered from this behavior and thought/feeling process herself and finding an unshakable peace within around eating, food, health and behaviors with eating. Grace works with all kinds of compulsions, habits and addictions as they are all the same thing: a pull to some behavior, substance or activity in order to help us with our stressful feelings and thoughts. As Byron Katie offers us (founder of The Work); when we believe what we think, it creates unnecessary suffering. When we question what we think, we feel lighter and less serious about what is. We even begin to laugh. We notice who we really are is peaceful already, a human being living life as best we can--learning, growing, loving. In the public sessions on this youtube channel, we have all-group inquiry sessions called First Friday Inquiry, we have interviews with practitioners of The Work, we have Eating Peace videos (on the eating peace playlist) and we have individual sessions in The Work by courageous people willing to be recorded for Peace Talk podcast and this channel. Thanks to everyone involved in what is shared here on this channel, as it is great service to others in the world who find their way here and who are curious about life without "believing" thought all the time. In all-group sessions and solo sessions, we begin with a judgment...and move into the four questions and turnarounds. Willingness to be real and honest with your thinking is the first powerful step in The Work. No one ever has to share when attending Friday Inquiry, and thank you when you do. My first teaching job landed in my lap! It was easy to get. My neighbor was the principal for a small private school. They needed a band teacher, he asked me, I interviewed and was hired. The next three job hunts I had to use “Job Hunt Math.” Thirty applications equals six interviews equals three offers. This worked out pretty much every time. I see so many young people post, “I applied for my dream job. I haven't heard back. Maybe I should leave the profession.” Maybe you should use Job Hunt Math. Over the last 14 years, I have done everything I can to help as many #jobseekers as possible via Powerpoint presentations, documents , speaking engagements and now LinkedIn presentations that LinkedIn promotes for me. I also, whenever possible, scroll down my feed and every time I see a person that is #opentowork, I drop an invite to my next #LinkedInaudioevent or if I am not having one my #YouTube page that has hundreds of videos and audio events. I know that I have helped thousands of people in some way to get out of the canyon called #Unemployment and back into the job world. I could've charged a lot of money to a lot of people over the years because my stuff works and it works fast if you are someone that goes and attacks challenges. I don't charge people a lot of money because they need their money to eat and pay their rent and provide for their family when they are unemployed because they don't know when that nightmare will end. That is why I don't make it a giant moneymaking endeavor. I do this from the heart because I never forget how bad it felt to be unemployed and how awful every day was until I knew what my next job was. That said, I cannot believe when someone is offered free help from someone who has been doing it for as long as I have that they would ignore my invite and not come to the event. All I will say is here is an invite to my next event and if you are a #jobseeker you should come because something I say will help you to get in next great opportunity. It's different for every person, but something will resonate. With all of the people being mistreated and ghosted and punched in the face on this platform by people who have no interest in helping, I offer all I can give you to help you get back on your feet. 1. Whether winning over a hiring manager or winning new business, career success often hinges on how we communicate. That's why Andrew Seaman is on a mission to help people find the words that work — to get work.Seaman is the senior managing editor for jobs and career development at LinkedIn, and as the creator and host of the Get Hired podcast and newsletter, he helps millions hone communication skills to land the jobs they want. According to him, getting opportunities isn't just about experience or connections, but how we frame and present our personal and professional narratives. With a standard resume, he says, “You're making them connect the dots. And people are not good at that.” Instead, he recommends crafting a story that explains where you've been, where you are, and where you hope to go. “Connect the dots for them,” he says, “so they're not viewing you as a person who has bounced around. They're thinking, this person has had a cohesive career.”In this episode of Think Fast, Talk Smart, Seaman and host Matt Abrahams explore tools for navigating the interview process, networking on and offline, and communication strategies to get hired.Episode Reference Links:Andrew Seaman: Website Andrew Seaman: LinkedIn Andrew's Podcast: Get HiredEp.118 Maximizing Your Brand: Communicating Who You Are to Help Get What You Want Website / YouTube Ep.147 Disrupt Yourself: How to Innovate Who You Are and Become Who You Can Be YouTube Ep.62 Best Of: Summer Learning Series, How Humor Can Be a Secret Weapon in Communication Website / YouTubeConnect:Email Questions & Feedback >>> thinkfast@stanford.eduEpisode Transcripts >>> Think Fast Talk Smart WebsiteNewsletter Signup + English Language Learning >>> FasterSmarter.ioThink Fast Talk Smart >>> LinkedIn Page, Instagram, YouTubeMatt Abrahams >>> LinkedInStanford GSB >>> LinkedIn & TwitterChapters:(00:00:00) IntroductionHost Matt Abrahams introduces guest Andrew Seaman, Senior Managing Editor for Jobs and Career Development at LinkedIn.(00:00:57) Importance of Online PresenceThe significance of maintaining an online presence and tips on optimizing LinkedIn profiles.(00:01:52) Posting on LinkedInThe frequency and type of posts on LinkedIn, balancing professional and personal content.(00:03:41) Commenting vs. PostingAdvice on adding value through comments and engaging with posts.(00:05:12) Interview PresenceThe importance of presence in interviews, sharing examples of making good and bad impressions.(00:06:59) Recovering from Bad ImpressionsThe challenges and possibilities of recovering from a poor first impression in an interview setting.(00:07:48) Interviewing from the Interviewer's PerspectiveTips for hiring managers on how to conduct effective interviews and evaluate candidates.(00:10:25) Challenging Interview QuestionsThe appropriateness and benefits of challenging candidates during interviews to assess their fit and preparedness.(00:11:44) Best Practices for IntervieweesStrategies for interviewees to prepare and effectively answer questions, using the ADD method.(00:13:58) Handling Spontaneity in InterviewsPreparing for interviews when time is limited and the importance of flexibility and adaptability.(00:17:17) Following Up After InterviewsBest practices for following up after an interview to leave a positive impression.(00:19:43) Broader Career AdviceLeveraging online communities and tools for career growth, emphasizing networking.(00:22:14) The Final Three QuestionsAndrew shares his favorite response to an interview question, a communicator he admires, and three ingredients for successful communication.(00:25:31) ConclusionSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
