Hello to you listening in Brus, Serbia!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday and your host, Diane WyzgaBe very careful what you ask for. Some years ago I asked for a clean slate. I got it. In the space of 9 months I lost my mom, my marriage and my law firm position. That experience was enough to snap me like a dried twig. And I stayed that way for a good long while. What changed? A friend of a friend heard that I was a storyteller. She needed a keynote speaker. We met for lunch. I felt I didn't have it in me to be the keynoter she wanted. She saw something different. Here's what she told me: “I understand that you've been walking around in the Valley of Death; but that stops now. Scripture says we are supposed to walk through the Valley of Death. Scripture says nothing about building a brick house, adding a little picket fence and a garden. Starting now you are walking through. I'll meet you on the other side.” And the rest really is history.Story Prompt: Think of a time when you felt like you had come to the end of the road seeing no future for yourself; but someone else did and lifted you back up. What happened next? Write that story!        Practical Tip: The magic of stories is also in the sharing. If you wish share your story with someone or something.   All that matters is you have a story. You're always invited: “Come for the stories - stay for the magic!” Speaking of magic, would you subscribe, share a 5-star rating + nice review on your social media or podcast channel of choice, and join us next time!Meanwhile, stop by my Quarter Moon Story Arts website to:✓ Check out What I Offer,✓ Arrange your free Story Start-up Session,✓ Opt In to my monthly NewsAudioLetter for bonus gift, valuable tips & techniques to enhance your story work, and✓ Stay current with Diane on LinkedIn.Stories From Women Who Walk Production TeamPodcaster: Diane F Wyzga & Quarter Moon Story ArtsMusic: Mer's Waltz from Crossing the Waters by Steve Schuch & Night Heron MusicAll content and image © 2019 to Present Quarter Moon Story Arts. Hello to you in Belle Plaine, Kansas!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is 60 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday with questions carefully chosen to help you collect stories in the oral tradition or spark your own writing. Either way, you'll say, "Thanks for the memories." Years ago I was the keynoter for a  Junior League Mother-Daughter event in Orange County, CA. I sat on a dirty sidewalk outside the venue dressed as a homeless woman to see what attention I'd attract. I was ignored, ridiculed and some tried to have me removed as a danger. Imagine how quiet the room became when the keynoter was introduced and I walked in a side door to the front of the hall where I slowly removed my outer garments while telling the audience a story about Ubuntu: seeing and being seen.I've often wondered what happened to all of them. Did they recognize their own behavior? Did something change in them as a result? Was this an act of theater or kindness? We chip away at opposition by sewing seeds of doubt in the other person about the strength of their position while inviting them to shift their view with their own understanding.Prompt: When and how have you shifted your own viewpoint, chipped away at your own opposition? Write that story!  Practical Tip: The magic of stories is also in the sharing. If you wish share your story with someone or something.   All that matters is you have a story. This is the place to thrive together. Come for the stories - stay for the magic. Klyn Elsbury has overcome incredible adversity when she was told she wouldn't live past 14 and was making funeral arrangements by 25. She never gave up. Klyn now a successful sales coach, keynote speaker, and author. Her business is only about a year old as she's been refining her niche - sales training - it's so much better to truly motivate through heart and vulnerability vs hard charging meaninglessness to take your life to a new level. Klyn is looking to become even more known in her space - where to go next? She needs to get her story and message out further and hasn't done much aside of social media presence. She's had a Forbes article published with others not approved. Know what? the internet is much bigger than just Forbes - sometimes the little things like making sure that all the interviews and places you've been published are linking to you make a huge difference. We dive in to how to pitch yourself - overcoming serious life adversity is a big story for the news to cover things that aren't super negative all the time. Taking her life lessons and applying them to sales is super niche and interesting! We also talk about conferences and how she'd be a great voice at SXSW.
