Letters of Marque & Reprisal-Mike's 2014 LPAC Speech (Nota bene: This was originally published on 21 September, 2014) Mandeville, LA - UPDATED: The video from this talk has been posted by LPAC - see previous speeches here and here, you can view it below. Here are my audio remarks from the 2014 LPAC convention held at the Hilton. I have enclosed the written version as well, which is in draft form. Thanks to the Campaign For Liberty for offering me this, 6th annual address to LPAC. Fame & The Founding Fathers' War Power-Marque And Reprisal ©2025 Mike Church We are now officially and simultaneously, illegally at war in Iraq and soon Syria. President Obama declared himself exalted mystic ruler of the U.S. Armed forces: "While I believe I have the authority to carry out this military action without specific congressional authorization, I know that the country will be stronger if we take this course, and our actions will be even more effective...” Effective!? Who is he kidding? The NFL's policy against domestic violence is more effective. The KingDude delivering this speech, 19 September, 2014. The specific “authorization” that was given to President Obama to aid equip the little Jihadi Urban Achievers actually PROHIBITS the President from waging war, yet Obama has proceeded with his “strategy against ISIS”. This “strategy” requires the U.S. military to conduct acts of war in Syria. At first the Obama administration said they would just bomb ISIS back to Mecca over the Syrian's objections. Then they moderated that to say The Obama admin's team was negotiating a deal with Syria to gain permission. Think about that for a moment. The Obama admin is more concerned about obtaining theSyrian regime's permission to wage war than it is the American regime's. So how did we get to never-ending, full scale war that has basically been in effect since the first Iraq invasion of 1991 from a Constitution system that was drafted specifically to try and prevent? Why does no one in Congress, save for Ron Paul, even propose, maybe as a joke, to use letters of marque & reprisal and THEN proceed to full scale war AFTER Congress has proved it was a just war and THEN voted to declare it? In short, the answer is Fame. Francis Bacon the English author described what he called conditores imperiorum. As Bacon put it “Neither can they be secret, and therefore not ef− fectual; but according to the French proverb, Beaucoup de bruit, peu de fruit, Much bruit little fruit. The true marshalling of the degrees of sovereign honor, are these: In the first place are conditores imperiorum, founders of states and common− wealths; such as were Romulus, Cyrus, Caesar, Ottoman, Ismael. “ Plain and simple, it is FAME that drove the Founders to write the Constitution and it is fame that drives President's to grab more power than they were ever granted. You might wonder if the Founders knew of this vanity and tried to guard against it? As a matter of fact they did. James Madison, Helvidius #4 wrote: “In no part of the constitution is more wisdom to be found, than in the clause which confides the question of war or peace to the legislature, and not to the executive department. Beside the objection to such a mixture to heterogeneous powers, the trust and the temptation would be too great for any one man; not such as nature may offer as the prodigy of many centuries, but such as may be expected in the ordinary successions of magistracy. War is in fact the true nurse of executive aggrandizement. In war, a physical force is to be created; and it is the executive will, which is to direct it. In war, the public treasures are to be unlocked; and it is the executive hand which is to dispense them. In war, the honours and emoluments of office are to be multiplied; and it is the executive patronage under which they are to be enjoyed. It is in war, finally, that laurels are to be gathered; and it is the executive brow they are to encircle.

If you're a later-in-life gay, congrats on making it out! And if you're still in the closet, we see you, we love you, and your gayness is valid. This week Leigh (@lshfoster) and Ellie (@elliebrigida) hang out with host of the Made It Out Podcast (@madeitoutpodcast), Mal Glowenke (@malglowenke), to talk about the journey from recovering Texas-raised (closeted) lesbian to loud and proud podcast host. The heteronormative societal culture from growing up in Dallas was strong, but the pull of LA was stronger. All it took was one visit to Hollywood to break the closet door wide open, catapulting Mal into a beautiful, technicolor world of community and possibility. It's been a long journey from Mal's days of scrolling Craigslist's “Women Seeking Women” board to moving to DTLA and experiencing her baby gay days right as the pandemic hit. After 20+ years of having to live inauthentically, Mal had a lot of unraveling to do, including needing surgery to reverse the plastic surgery that she had done solely for the sake of appealing to the male gaze. By finding queer community, Mal finally had the safe space she needed to liberate her true self. Now that Mal is wide awake to the harms of the heteronormative patriarchy, she is using her podcast to get the word out about the importance of voting. Her new six-episode series, Made It Out (To the Polls), partners with LPAC, the only national organization dedicated to advancing the political representation and power of LGBTQ+ women and nonbinary candidates at every level of government. LGBTQ Filmmakers and activists at the 25th annual Provincetown International Film Festival talk with Emmy Winner Charlotte Robinson host of OUTTAKE VOICES™. First we spoke with director Sophia Castuera and writer Ali Edwards about their first feature film “August At Twenty-Two” that's receiving a lot of buzz and will be available on most VOD streaming outlets next month. The film is about actress Cal (played by Edwards) who is floundering after college and is shocked to discover that her childhood soulmate has a serious girlfriend Em (Lilli Kay) who Cal unexpectedly falls in love with. “August At Twenty-Two” is an evocative and deeply felt portrait of young artists struggling to find their way in their craft and their lives. We also talked to Sophia and Ali about their inspiration for creating this film and their spin on our LGBTQ issues. Next we chatted with producer Fermin Rojas and director Mike Syers about their short film “There Are Things To Do” about LGBTQ activist and author Urvashi Vaid who passed away last year. Vaid was an outspoken immigrant, lesbian and woman of color who was an LGBTQ superhero and believed in human rights for all people. Urvashi led the charge in shaping the modern-day LGBTQ rights movement as Executive Director of National LGBTQ Task Force from 1989 to 1992 to founding LPAC the first lesbian Super PAC raising millions of dollars for candidates who are committed to social justice. The film chronicles her life in Provincetown and 34-year relationship with partner/wife comedian Kate Clinton who inspired her call to action resulting in achieving equality for our LGBTQ community. We concluded our montage with director Sam Shahid whose documentary “Hidden Master: The Legacy of George Platt Lynes” uncovers the life and work of photographer George Platt Lynes. Best remembered for his dazzling celebrity and fashion photographs of the 1930's and 1940's, Lynes was forced to keep his male nude photos hidden from the public. Shahid hopes his film will help reclaim this gifted artist's full legacy and lasting influence as one of the first openly gay American artists. The Provincetown Film Society, Inc. Hey folks, it gives me absolutely no pleasure to bring up that we're now entering the 2024 campaign cycle. I know, it's horrible. Didn't we just get done with the last one? Have we not suffered enough through endless texts, emails, and phone calls from politicians and campaign orgs?Yes, indeed, but the next one is upon us. Candidates are starting to announce their campaigns, networks are angling for presidential debates and forums, and political journalists everywhere are looking like that meme of Ben Affleck smoking a cig in resignation. But look, here's the really good news: Republicans are running on stale fear-mongering that has most American voters rolling their eyes, President Biden keeps notching wins, and 2024 is poised to be the best year ever for electing LGBTQ candidates. As many of y'all know, I'm on the Board of Directors for LPAC, the nation's largest political advocacy org specifically dedicated to electing queer women.Last year was our best ever. Even in the midst of erroneous talks of a “red wave,” LPAC's candidates performed remarkably well. Of the 125 LGBTQ women we endorsed and supported last cycle, 84 of them were elected, an impressive 67% win rate in a cycle that saw the GOP win the House.LPAC helped elect the first two lesbian governors in U.S. history: Maura Healey of Massachusetts and Tina Kotek of Oregon. We helped reelect the phenomenal Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel in addition to new Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes. We helped Rep. Sharice Davids (KS-03) and Rep. Angie Craig (MN-02) get reelected to the House in tight races and Rep. Becca Balint (VT) to become not only the first lesbian but the first woman ever to represent Vermont in Congress in either the House or Senate. All that in addition to dozens of LGBTQ women at the state and local level across the country.I mean, look, not to keep beating this drum, but that's a remarkable slate of wins in a year that political media insisted would be disastrous for Democrats and in response to an avalanche of anti-LGBTQ propaganda.I'm incredibly excited to see what we're gonna do in 2024. There is no doubt in my mind that LPAC can double the number of queer women in Congress and dramatically expand our numbers in state legislatures and city councils. So, before y'all get inundated with fundraising requests, I'm reaching out to ask you to help us get more queer women in office. You can donate here: https://bit.ly/DonateToLPACOkay, but is that it? Hell no, I brought incentives:* Every donor to LPAC this cycle will receive a handwritten thank you note from me, and I have pretty great stationary, I must say.* Every person donating $100 or more will get a phone call.* Donating $250 or more will get you an hour-long Zoom chat. One-on-one. Just you and me chatting and laughing and being dorks.* Donating $500 or more will you get my help on whatever project you want. Need some comms help? Need media outreach? Want me to edit your essay? Let's talk. But maybe you got something else in mind. Perhaps you want me to speak to your college or company. Maybe you'd like me to film a greeting for a friend or loved one. If you have an idea, reach out and we'll chat about it: cmclymer@gmail.comY'all, I will do anything to get more queer women elected this cycle. Finally, for those of you in D.C., LPAC is hosting a fundraiser tomorrow night, and I will absolutely be there in-person. Wanna hangout with me and have a few drinks and talk about the latest episode of Succession? Buy a ticket: https://bit.ly/PartyWithLPACOkay, that's all I got, y'all.Oh, one more thing: remember that ‘80s movie review I promised a few months ago? Well, we just hit our goal a few days ago. I'm publishing that on Friday. Be on the lookout.
Last week, I watched a particular ‘80s movie for the first time in years, and I had forgotten how much I felt it was largely underwhelming, even overrated, despite its standing as a niche favorite. Without naming the movie, I casually mentioned this in a group chat with a bunch of girlfriends, and they started guessing titles. Half an hour and dozens of guesses later, no one had landed on it, and being the curious goddess I am, I went to Twitter to see how fast it would take for someone to figure out.No one did. At least not initially. And it is a fascinating activity on perspective! For example, I didn't anticipate the sheer number of guessers who apparently believe that flicks like “Ferris Bueller's Day Off” and “The Princess Bride” have a niche fan base.(For those wholly unfamiliar with American Cinema, neither of these movies would ever be described as anything other than universally beloved.)Eventually, someone did guess the correct movie, but because I enjoy occasionally torturing the online masses with very low stakes nonsense like this, I decided to make it interesting.I could practically hear the groans, but much to my surprise, folks began responding in earnest, both donating to LPAC's non-profit research arm and making persuasive arguments for certain films and/or urgent moral pleadings to spare their own beloved ‘80s flick. The always charming Jon Cryer, beloved actor and ‘80s icon, among many other things, poked in to see if it's “Pretty in Pink” (1986). My friend Meredith Salenger—beloved writer, producer, and actress—had her own guess: “Dream a Little Dream” (1989).The brilliant Yvette Nicole Brown, unsatisfied with mere guessing, offered a loving warning that it better not be one of her faves.Amid the celebrity guesses were hundreds of responses that ranged from the patently absurd (“Purple Rain”? Who would ever describe that as less-than-great?) to the intriguing but ultimately incorrect (“Grease 2”).Over the past week, I've occasionally trotted out a range of clues, some of them intended to be helpful but most simply thrown out there for my own amusement at the expense of those playing. Because I am sometimes a cruel queen. Here are the list of clues, in order of my tweeting them over the past week:* ‘80s movie that probably has a niche fan base* I just don't think it's that good* theme: a young person confronting societal pressure * based in high school* Rotten Tomatoes score of more than 50% but less than 90%* one of the leads has been nominated for a Saturn Award for acting during their career* the entire cast was named TIME's Person of the Year in 2006* it was not directed or produced by Steven Spielberg* it was distributed by Paramount* one of the actors cast in this movie was also cast in “Jerry Maguire”* the year this film was released, the San Francisco 49ers made the playoffs (LOL)* released in theaters prior to former Justice Anthony Kennedy beginning his tenure on the Supreme Court* one of the actors who was cast in this movie is well-known for their exceptional voiceover work* released before Jon Bovi's signature hit “Livin' On a Prayer” reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100* released before Ronald Reagan gave a nationally-televised address kinda sorta hinting at his role in the Iran-Contra scandal but ultimately denying any substantial wrongdoingSo, the clues quickly escalated from amusing to outlandish, and I will admit that I've quite enjoyed veering them between unhelpfully broad and tantalizingly specific. That said, incredibly, we've raised more than $5,000 for LPAC. We're already more than halfway there. I have written a review of the movie, which no one has yet seen, and once this dorky little fundraiser of mine for queer women in politics reaches $10k, I'll be sending it out to all of you.Anyone who donates at least $50 can email me the receipt (cmclymer@gmail.com), and I will follow you back on Twitter.Additionally, the first five people who guessed the movie correctly will receive a personal phone call from me congratulating them on their excellent deductive reasoning.Hey, it's for a good cause! I like seeing queer women get elected, and LPAC has done a phenomenal job of that. So, please make a donation, and in the meantime, I'll leave you with one final clue: this movie reveal and accompanying review are guaranteed to break a few hearts.Charlotte's Web Thoughts is a reader-supported publication. Urvashi Vaid, President of The Vaid Group talks about the National LGBTQ+ Women's Community Survey with Emmy Winner Charlotte Robinson host of OUTTAKE VOICES™. This groundbreaking survey is a long overdue effort to learn and collect data from the experiences of women who partner with other women. Garnering over 5,000 respondents to date this unique effort is led by veteran queer, lesbian, bi, trans, non-binary, researchers and activists. The survey is designed to discover all we know and what we need to know about the life experience of LGBTQ women. Their goal is to reach 20,000 participants for the study by the end of March 2022. The survey will help us better understand the unique and amazing ways we form and support our families and how our community is surviving discrimination and harassment at work. The survey also addresses what forms of economic and social safety nets we create for ourselves given that the government, corporations and even non-profit employers largely do a poor job of this for black and brown LGBTQ+ women who love women. It also covers surviving the policing of our family members and ourselves as well as how racism, sexual violence and gender discrimination come together in our lives in ways that feel like gaslighting and can seem unimportant to our allies. This is an extremely important survey that will provide information our nation needs to understand so we can evolve and bring forward real life experience to inform policy change, service delivery and action to support LGBTQ+ women. We talked to Urvashi about her inspiration for creating the National LGBTQ+ Women's Community Survey and give us her spin on our LGBTQ issues. Urvashi Vaid is a graduate of Northeastern University School of Law and Vassar College. She created The Vaid Group LLC that works with global and domestic organizations to advance equity, justice and inclusion. Vaid is co-founder of the Donors of Color Network, the first cross-racial network connecting individuals of color to leverage their giving for racial equity; co-founder of the National LGBTQ Anti-Poverty Action Network, the National LGBT/HIV Criminal Justice Working Group, LPAC, the Equality Federation, the National Religious Leadership Roundtable and the Creating Change Conference of the National LGBTQ Task Force, among other networks and projects. Urvashi Vaid will be honored with the Susan J. Hyde Award for Longevity in the Movement at the 34th Creating Change Conference. Victor Pascucci of Energy Capital Ventures joins Nick to discuss The Trillion $ Opportunity in Natural Gas, Building A Strategic LP-Base, and Creating a Strong LPAC. In this episode we cover: Give us an overview of the data and the opportunity within the natural gas sector for tech disruption. What percentage of our energy consumption is natural gas based? Why focus on natural gas? Why is now the right time for a natural gas focused venture fund? Let's talk for a moment about the digital transformation of the natural gas industry. Where can we expect to see the most change going forward? Exploration, development, or production? Any concerns about the volume and quality of dealflow in this specialized sector? What kind of founder do you look for to change this legacy industry? How may these founders differ from the Silicon Valley stereotype? 5 large publicly-traded LPs -- Talk a bit about how you plan to work with the LPs as you make investments, manage the portfolio? How do you avoid the tail wagging the dog? How do you handle a situation where the tech you are investing in is highly disruptive and margin eroding to LPs in the fund? Many talk about the importance of carbon neutrality, yet it's a very opaque and difficult thing to measure. One company's carbon footprint extends beyond just what happens within but all the partners, suppliers, distributors and, at times, customers that they interact with. How can we appropriately assess carbon impact in the pursuit of carbon neutrality? Tell us a bit about learnings and best practices in building an advisory board. I'd suspect that, much like a startup, there is a point where a well-constructed board can really amplify efforts, and a bloated or not well functioning board can kill momentum and progress. I sit down with Deanna Ramirez and talk about the public arts commission, Leander Parks projects and painted rocks.
The challenges of being a 19 year old Latino kid from the Bronx only made him want to work harder. He gives all the credit to his grandmother who raised him and kept him away from all the negativity the streets had to offer. It was 1999 - just days before he was going into the Navy after graduating from Walton High School. His coach suggested he coach a tournament before he went off to serve his country - and the rest is history! "...maybe this is my calling..." the 19 year old said after coming out of his first game victorious. Due to his battle with scoliosis, he was discharged from the Navy and found himself at his old stomping grounds - LPAC! After winning numerous games and gaining recognition, Vic found himself away from his family more and more - which motivated him to start hiring other coaches who were as passionate as him. There were obstacles however ; when a bunch of men with credentials are in one room it is hard to get everyone on the same page for the same cause. It all worked out in the end though! With over 1,000 players coached, over 300 championships won, and 4 lifetime achievement awards, Coach Vic finally feels like he is getting the respect he deserves.
As President Trump continues his "energizer bunny" appearances at multiple rallies each day, summoning the optimistic spirit of the American people to take on the crucial issues of the day, "Sleepy Joe" occasionally ventures out of his basement hideaway to stoke fears of a coming "Dark Winter", stumbling through speeches given to small gatherings of socially-distanced parked cars, while counting on censorship to protect him from evidence of his role in promoting wars, pushing economic policies resulting in deindustrialization and loss of productive jobs, and involvement in his son's corrupt business ventures. There is too much at stake for anyone to succumb to pessimism—be sure to go to the LPAC website later today to watch Bill Binney and Kirk Wiebe speak on the topic, "The Election Countdown Amidst an Intelligence War." On Saturday, he echoed what LPAC has presented in detail, that those running the coup and backing Biden are "rich, globalist Wall Street donors," who work hand-in-hand with the City of London and its imperial intelligence operatives -- just as LaRouche has always insisted.
President Trump lowers the boom, including on Attorney General Barr and Pompeo, for dragging their feet in moving against the Russiagate coup plotters. Will there be indictments before the election? What's most different about your approach? Are the businesses you fund created and ideated by the founders or is it a collaboration between you and the founders or do you take concepts and bring them to future founders? Hear from the authors of LPAC's latest report, “The LaRouche Plan to Reopen the U.S. Economy; The World Needs 1.5 Billion New, Productive Jobs.” This report is designed to address the present national and global emergency. 50 million Americans must be given employment in truly productive jobs at wage levels commensurate with high living standards. This will also for the first time address the systemic unemployment, under-employment and mis-employment actually at the root of “the American urban crisis” for the past half-century and more. https://larouchepac.com/20200523/new-report-world-needs-15-billion-new-productive-jobs
The antidote to the demoralization of the American people, hit by an economic collapse and a pandemic, is a "future-oriented policy", exemplified by the space launch last Saturday. Instead, the City of London/Wall Street networks behind the repeated efforts to remove President Trump—especially to stop his efforts to cooperate with Russia's Putin—are using the chaos of the riots in the cities to divert your attention away from the solution presented in LPAC's new program for productive jobs, in the U.S. and worldwide. It is no coincidence that those who ran the Russiagate coup against President Trump are now committed to provoking confrontation with China, for the very same reason: to prevent him from breaking with the Bush-Obama "endless wars", and to preserve their global casino economy, which is now crashing. The financial and corporate cartels behind these swindles are what President Eisenhower had in mind when he warned of the danger of the Military Industrial Complex. Look for a new article from LPAC on the bill of materials necessary to build up the planet's healthcare system, coming soon. Considering the economies across the planet, it becomes obvious that building up the healthcare system isn't a healthcare issue, it's a basic infrastructure issue. The LPAC crew break down the news from Cleveland that John Beilein wants out, the All-Star Weekend in its entirety and recap whether the huge changes to the All-Star game actually worked.
Ben Simmons just went and dropped a monster triple-double, sparking even more questions about the makeup of the 76ers. The LPAC crew also gushed over Ja Morant being the best show in the NBA, before going over the latest weird thing Kyrie Irving has said.
Marco Zanni, the leader of the Identity and Democracy faction of the European Parliament and Italy’s Foreign Affairs spokesman for the Lega party, exposes the fraud of the EU’s European Stability Mechanism (ESM) bank bailout scheme and of the Green New Deal, and argued for bank separation (Glass-Steagall) instead. Zanni warned that faced by stress throughout the financial system, “the EU and European Central Bank are refusing to assess properly or to consider actions to tackle the huge risks that are evident to everyone now.” The ESM “is a complicated, useless mechanism that is typical of EU decision-making processes. We have an instrument which is already in place and could guarantee financial stability to the financial system: It is the ECB. We don’t need the ESM as a safety net.”
