In 2019 she became certified as a Lifestyle Medicine Physician and is also a CHIP facilitator. Shireen founded Plant-Based Health Professionals UK in 2018, a non-profit, membership organisation whose mission is to provide evidence-based education on whole food plant-based nutrition. Shireen qualified as a doctor in 2000. During her training, she completed a PhD, which investigated the role of selenium in sensitising cancer cells to chemotherapy. Shireen has published a number of peer-reviewed papers in the field of lymphoma. Her first book, Eating Plant-Based, Scientific Answers to Your Nutrition Questions, co-authored with her sister Zahra, was published in January 2022.  Remodeling can be a messy process, yet it also carries the energy of release and rebirth. You get to let go of what no longer supports you and set up a more empowering scenario for yourself. On our last episode, I shared that I finally got the doctor's “ALL CLEAR” to start physical therapy on my abdomen and pelvic floor after I had colon surgery. I'm realizing that physical therapy is a core component in healing. I'll need to remodel the scar tissue that built up over the 8 weeks I wasn't active after the surgery. I'm here to spend quality solo time with you for EP178's Wise Walk as we discover our True Stride. Healing the scar tissue allows me to regain more movement in my body and strengthen my core. Similar to my healing body, I'm focusing my efforts so I can remodel my life all around with tender loving care. On this week's edition of Soaring Child, we're joined by Elaine Taylor-Klaus, who's an author, parent educator, and certified coach, as well as the CEO of ImpactParents.com. She co-created the Sanity School Behavior Therapy Training Program to support parents of ADHD kids.   A lot of kids with ADHD have poor executive functioning skills, which help us organize, think, plan, and prioritize. It's basically how our mind works to get everything done. Executive functioning includes memory issues, emotional management, hyperactivity, sequencing, action, and engagement. These all interact with one another, so the challenge isn't in just one area. With ADHD, executive functioning can be impacted significantly, with kids not knowing how to complete tasks even if their mental abilities are quite high.   Parents of children with ADHD need to be trained to understand how to create an environment that's supportive for their kids who have difficulty with executive functioning. The parents' behavior is a critical factor in helping kids change. So is nutrition and mindset. Shifting our perspective allows for behaviors to change, which in turn changes the outcome.   Make sure you've pinpointed the right problem by breaking it down and looking at what's really happening. Take it in small parts to solve the bigger behavioral issues. As a parent, you can do it. You just can't do it all at once.   You should also enroll your child collaboratively in the process of understanding how you can solve this problem together. This gives them a sense of ownership.   Our kids need positive parenting in the context of understanding executive function and setting appropriate expectations. Being multi-passionate would be an understatement for Jessica. We learned that she paints, does makeup, fashion, loves business, martial arts, marketing and of course, making lunches!Known as the Bento Box Queen, her “mommy makes lunches” style videos go viral, and as you'll hear, that created a lot of attention. She's continued to build a big following from that attention and turn it into a pretty big brand.A great lesson for any pursuing dreams, is that Jessica did not expect lunches to be her main thing. She was simply documenting, and hitting share. She actually made many videos, of all different styles, prior to finding success in the cooking and food space. It's a great thing to remember. Keep creating, sharing and you never know when something great will come from it, as long as you get a bit better each day. Jessica is an inspiration for the modern content creator, because she simply shares what she loves doing.This is why she is such an incredible example of how a one person business can start out small, and organic overtime. When that viral moment comes it creates exponential success and could become your full time thing. She also focuses on making sure that you actually like what you create, because if you don't then it's not worth it.It was really interesting how a university degree in marketing was boring to her. Jessica also is an amazing example of transferable skills. Her learning has compounded over time to build a powerful personal brand.It could be her journalism background that helped her get comfortable on camera. Perhaps her art expertise that allows her to create brand tones that speak to people. She really does put it all together in crafting success.The way she creates is truly motivational as well. She uses no excuses, as a mom and partner, she doesn't have a lot of downtime, but she manages it really well. She talked about leaving a legacy, so that even if she never had a follower, her kids could see what she created, learn her recipes and have a visit with mom. The other thing that's super cool is she probably gives back to other creators and props up “small” creators as much as anyone.14 Tips When Becoming A Viral Video CreatorMostly you have to make the content. Every aspect of the next bunch of steps will improve by making the content and publishing it. You will learn for yourself what works, what doesn't work, and all of your own tips and tricks.Don't just put out garbage, but focus on quantity over quality, because attention spans are so short for the majority of people today. And, it's a lottery game. The more content you put out the more chances of you creating something that resonates and hits the jackpot. It might take a thousand videos until you get the one that one to finally go viral.Find the style and way that makes sense for you. If it is off camera, then do that, dancing, or not dancing, whatever works for you.Because platforms are starting to use more of an interest graph, instead of follower counts, means that creating around a topic, or theme, even if you have a small following can go viral, or trend and change your life.Don't pigeonhole yourself into one, very specific niche. You can increase clarity and brand awareness by doing very focused things, but make sure it is what you love to share and that you have a way to share the other things you love as well.You don't have to be fancy. When it comes to creating, use what you have. If you don't have lights, be by the window. You don't need a microphone, or camera because phones are so good these days. You can record in a closet if you have kids running around, or go for a quick walk and make something. It's fine to build up to a studio, lights, cameras and blocks of creative time, but you probably won't start there.If you have the capacity, or money to be on all platforms with quality, and create both short, form and long form content, then in theory doing everything is always the best plan. But that is rare. Most of us should really focus on one style and one platform to grow at first.You should be on all platforms at least as a profile. But, you don't need more than a profile, with a few base level posts. And then focus on one platform for a significant period of time, or growth. Focus on a platform for a year, consistently and crosspost to the others.Pick the style and platform of your personal choice, it is your art that you are sharing. Do you want to do quick, vertical, face on, political rants, or would you rather long produced, edited, documentaries? Whatever you want to make that is authentically you is what you should create.Don't overthinking publishing either. Push the content out. You don't need a scheduler, or a regimen. You don't need regular plans, scripts, or timelines. You don't even need to be super regular, but you should be as consistent as possible. Basically, just hit send, ship your work and push the content out as much as you can.Don't underestimate the power of community when growing a following. It is reciprocal, give and take, but mostly give attitude that will make you a part of different groups and sub groups on topics that you share about, which will continue to grow your network, and brand while connecting with others.If you watch a video, like it and comment on it. Supporting others can be a really good way to give back, but also makes sure you are always a part of all aspects of a social media platforms ecosystem. Figure out what to keep private and what to share when it comes to your social media, influencer life. Everyone is different, but make sure that what you share is aligned with your actual values, and that you don't do things just for the numbers.If you do film family style content, and you have kids make sure that you are looking out for them. Don't share things they may regret and can't give consent to, and don't ever pressure them to create. Let them decide what they want to share, and when they want to make something. He holds a BA in Engineering Science from UoT and an MBA from Stanford, and previously worked for companies like Bain & Company and Innovation Endeavors. After quitting his consultancy job and spending a sabbatical in Rheinfeld thinking about business ideas, Roy developed an interest in undervalued data sets in business, specifically conversations – he wanted to use machine learning to discover what makes a conversation end badly and what makes it end well. He founded Chorus.ai in 2015 and has since grown it to millions in revenue and over 100 employees, and raised over $65M in capital from Emergence Capital, Redpoint and Georgian Partners. But the sailing wasn't always this smooth. Thinking back to when they were first building the product, Roy recounts an interesting cycle he observed: When you're building a product, the feedback you get from your first customers will be mostly negative, which decreases both your motivation and your customer's excitement level about the product. However, simultaneously to this, your product's quality level is slowly going up. At some point these first customers might lose their patience and stop using your product. But then you acquire new customers whose excitement level is just as high as your first customers' once was, and this time your product is starting off from a slightly better position. Rinse and repeat. Finally you reach a point when your new customer doesn't have a bad experience! And the only thing that kept you going through this entire process was the fact that, flaws and all, people were still using your product, so you must be answering a real need. In conclusion, so long as you don't run out of hope or cash, perseverance will get you to product-market fit. In Chorus.ai's case, it also got them to a tradesale. They were acquired by Zoom Info in 2021 for $575M and have since seen their yearly growth rate double from 100% to 200%. Bassil's family moved from Lebanon to Canada when he was young, and it was in Canada that he studied Business Administration and Economics and began working as a project manager in the freight industry. He then moved to Denmark after his masters to work at eMagCreator, a startup selling online magazines — this was his first entrepreneurial experience. When it came time for him and his wife to settle down, and his wife got a job at UBS, they chose to settle in Switzerland. In Switzerland, Bassil noticed that despite there being some momentum in the cap table space, for instance, no one was tackling payroll yet. By talking to accountants he discovered that Swiss SME payroll got done in one of 3 ways: People do it themselves using one of the available softwares. This requires some previous payroll experience, and even then, you're bound to make your fair share of errors. People hire an accountant at a rate of 30-60 francs per employee per month, on average. This still means you have to gather all the documentation yourself to email to the accountant. People hire internally, if they can afford it, which they often can't. And often the person they hire ends up having to speak to an accountant anyway. With Earny, anyone can run payroll with no experience needed, since most of the process is automated. It is also still possible to work with an accountant. In fact, earny has 3 interfaces: one for companies, one for employees, and one for accountants. Before coming up with some OKRs, you should make sure you have a good idea of your vision ("what will we become in 10 years?") and mission ("what purpose do we serve?"). How to create a good OKR Let's say your startup wants to be the best in terms of product: a good objective would be something like "becoming the category leader". The key results would be: 1. Have an NPS of +50 2. Have 100 5 star reviews on the app stores 3. Have the product team launch a new feature each month This last key result is debatable: some might say that's just output, not outcomes. But if you tie it to another OKR, like "0 bugs introduced", or "all new features having a customer effort score of 5", you're basically counter-balancing it. How many OKRs do you need? Answering this question requires making two important distinctions: 1. How many key results should you have in your objectives? 2. How many objectives should you have? Data has shown that the most successful objectives are the ones who have up to 4 key results. Numbers have also shown that an individual should usually own no more than 2 objectives. Teams, depending on their size, can accomodate between 2 and 3. What timeframes should be used for OKRs? The vast majority of companies are using quarterly OKRs, that tie to an annual OKR, which in turn might tie to a 3 year plan. Circumstances for companies change pretty fast, so monthly OKRs are probably the optimal option — but the quarterly basis might also work for you. If you feel like even a quarterly OKR is too time-critical for you, keep it nonetheless and transfer it to the next quarter if need be. How often should you check OKRs? In order for OKRs to really work for your company, you should create some ceremonies around them: your cadences of review should be regular. Gtmhub sees clients using mostly weekly reviews, but bi-weekly can work as well. OKR meetings should be quick and should focus on the next steps and on your learnings. No need to let people see you update the OKR card. Each person should be allotted 2-3 minutes to speak.
