DESCRIPTION In this episode, Jo & Vicky are joined by Clayton Payne, a pet and animal industry expert, podcaster and serial pet industry entrepreneur who is currently the C.O.O. at the Bug Factory. It is an insect company that develops industrial breeding systems for insects that are used in animal foods and feeds. Clayton has worked in the pet and pet food industries all of his life. He has created, grown and sold multiple businesses in the sector. So, the information he shares here is invaluable and has been adapted to be especially relevant for owners of dog training businesses. KEY TAKEAWAYS Think outside the box. Get creative. If you keep doing things the same way you will get left behind. Trends change. Twenty years ago, dogs mostly ate canned food, now high meat content dried foods and raw meat are in high demand. The dog training industry is changing too. The way people live has changed, so the way dogs live and the problems they need help with have changed too. Adapting your training to a specific breed or personality type is a good way to specialise. The fact that you deeply understand that type of dog and have adapted how you teach to suit its needs is a huge selling point. Sell why you are so good. Appealing to people emotionally, using logic and creating urgency enables you to sell more. Don´t get frozen by fear. Get on with things and learn from your mistakes. Get customer feedback, so you are clear on why your product or service sells. Try new products or services out with people you trust to get feedback. Several ways to do this are discussed in the episode. As a service provider you can still create urgency by limiting demand. If there are products you love why not sell them? It´s a win-win. Many manufacturers are interested in working with dog trainers to sell their products. Often, they will offer special deals and discount codes. BEST MOMENTS “If you keep doing things in the same way, you're going to get left behind.” “From a young age, I was thinking - I'm going to have to innovate. I'm going to have to do things differently.” “Look and think – Who´s buying this? And why are they paying money for it?” “You have to change your mentality from a mentality of, what do I like, to what makes my customer part with their money combined with what I like, because you're not selling to yourself .” “If you have a product or service, try and niche it. ” “People struggle with criticism because they don't see it as a chance for learning.” ABOUT THE GUEST https://www.linkedin.com/in/clayton-payne-a6772244/ https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/pet-business-disruptors/id1759599442 Mealworm kits - https://bugfactory-mealworm.com SOCIALS AND IMPORTANT LINKS https://www.tiktok.com/@letstalkdogbusiness https://www.youtube.com/@LetsTalkDogBusiness Website www.caninebusinessacademy.com Community Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/caninebusinessacademycommunity/ ABOUT THE HOSTS Meet Jo and Vicky! Lee explores into the often over looked aspects of training sessions, emphasising the importance of aligning language and definitions to ensure effective learning. He challenges listeners to think differently about their approach to training, whether as participants or facilitators and highlights the necessity of creating actionable plans that integrate learning into everyday practices. Lee shares practical strategies for fostering accountability, such as assigning ownership of action items and encouraging personal commitments from participants. By focusing on these elements, he aims to help organisations maximise their investment in training and achieve meaningful, lasting change. KEY TAKEAWAYS Think and Do Different: To achieve different results, it's essential to not only think differently but also to take actionable steps based on that new thinking. Training should inspire participants to implement what they've learned. Alignment of Language: Ensuring that all participants have a shared understanding of key terms and concepts is crucial. Misalignment in definitions can lead to confusion and ineffective application of knowledge. Action Plans for Application: Capturing tangible actions during training sessions helps cement learning. Each action should have a designated owner and a timeline for accountability, ensuring that the knowledge gained is applied in the workplace. Integration into Existing Routines: Actions derived from training should be integrated into regular meeting rhythms to maintain focus and accountability. This prevents the need for separate discussions about training outcomes and promotes ongoing application. Personal Commitment: Encouraging participants to make personal commitments to change fosters accountability. Sharing these commitments with the group increases investment in the learning process and encourages follow-through after the training session. BEST MOMENTS "You have to think and do different to achieve different." "When you get back from holiday, the first day back it then seems like it's been months since you've had a holiday." "Alignment of language is key, especially in a training room." "We want applied learning. We want people to take the knowledge that they're getting in the training room and apply that learning in the workplace." "If you don't do that, then you're going to have to have another meeting to just talk about the output of that meeting." Welcome to Grit & Growth's masterclass on strategic HR with Rokhaya Ndiaye, CEO and founder of Ro&Partners, a human capital consulting firm. Gain valuable insights and strategies for shaping your organization's long-term goals and aligning your people strategies to meet future challenges. When it comes to dealing with humans, whether growing a talent base in a global marketplace or downsizing to meet long-term goals, Rokhaya Ndiaye (who goes by Ro) recommends employing empathy, using cultural sensitivity, and making a break from post-colonial mindsets. Ndiaye, whose company is headquartered in Senegal but conducts business internationally, understands firsthand the existing bias that talent only comes from the West. Her mission: to unlock the potential of Africa through its people. And she believes every company – private or nonprofit – should be strategically investing in its people.Key Takeaways:Think strategically“Strategic HR is HR that is supporting the organization for the future. This is everything you do in terms of creating the stage for the organization to have the change management framework to be able to adapt to the changing ecosystem environment, as well as projecting themselves in the future.”Rethink one-size-fits-all compensation “The smart companies are adjusting to this global market we are in, they're running away from these international versus local packages. It's about how you are paying a job, not how you are paying a local versus a national, an international person.”Consider the impact of downsizing on those who stay“At some point we have to downsize. But when it comes to people, we need to understand that downsizing has a very negative impact on people, but not only the people that are leaving the organization, the people that are staying as well. So we need to just make sure that we are very transparent and have a strong communication plan.”Let people go with care“The better you plan it, the easier for you to get through it as a company because that's not where you want your energy to go. You have to have a level of empathy, especially at a leadership level, to show people that you care.” Listen to Ro Ndiaye's advice to entrepreneurs and HR leaders for building strategic HR frameworks that align with your company's values and adapt to regional and cultural realities.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
Come back to where your feet are, your time is now. In a world that is so easy to get lost in, chasing the future, it can be difficult to be present. In this episode, Summer encourages you to ground yourself in the ‘right now' and pay attention to what surrounds you in the present. KEY TAKEAWAYS Think about how your feet feel on the floor, and pay attention to the sounds around you and the taste in your mouth. Try and focus on what is happening right now, not your to-do list and future needs. Goals and visions are important, we do need a direction and plan in life, but in a world that is so focused on where we are going, we need to remind ourselves to consciously pay attention to the present too. Dr Irene urges you in this episode to expose the self limiting lies you have been telling yourself and instead listen to your inner truth. KEY TAKEAWAYS Think about it very carefully. What limiting beliefs do you unquestioningly believe about yourself that may not be true? We absorb our environment and the ideas of those around us when we are young and let it influence our idea of ourselves. Your thoughts can have consequences so great that they create your reality. Follow Irene's simple exercise to begin. Write down all the potential lies that you believe in your life. To help you do this you can do this with your coach or any accountability partners that you have. Write down the truths that refute each of these lies. Reread these over the next few days. Reiterate them to yourself until they become real in your mind. BEST MOMENTS ‘We are born with two types of fear. Fear of loud noises or fear of heights. But along the way we became more fearful. We form habits, beliefs and fears during our childhood and we actually encode some of this faulty coding and images in our subconscious mind.' ‘You have a divine calling on your life. You can call it divine energy, chi power, god or the universe, it doesn't matter. You are meant to be more. Think about your core values, accomplishments, gifts and talents. Anticipate what would be the interviewer's concern and answer it before it even becomes a concern. Ask a genuine question, don't worry about whether they'll be able to answer it or not - what's important is that you're showing an interest in that area. Also, read the school newspaper and discuss or ask about some issues or hot topics from there. When letting them know who you are, back up your claims with some proof. Instead of saying you're patient, say “my friends/siblings would say that I'm patient” or you could tell an instance where you showed that value. Games are an interesting way to foster multi-generational connections. Games have a way to make the content and experience beneficial for the child, parents, grandparents or even aunts and uncles. From a neuroscience perspective, it has skill-building value for all ages. Games can help build strategic thinking skills with transference to many other areas of life. A misconception about games is that winning is the main objective. Winning isn't the best teacher. If we reframe games as vehicles for fun, discovery and creativity, Individuals can use games to reinforce skills of perseverance, continuous improvement, and learning more about themselves in the process. Games can be tools for connection, often triggering memories, either through the content of the game or the shared experience playing games with others. Playing a game can be a mini adventure in times when you might not be able to physically adventure. Likely 2020 brought forth a resurgence, but also times such as poor weather, or or having a down day. Games can be a tremendous tool for learning about something new or deepening your learning in a fun way. Many consider games to be something in a box, the simplicity and versatility of a deck of cards can't be overlooked. Kids have an amazing ability to suspend reality and dive into something by creating games. Embrace and continue to nurture those opportunities. As adults we lose some of our creative edge as we get older. Board Games can provide a medium to help keep our brains fresh. Activities that have been looked into in neuroscience show some games have the ability to expand our memory or our cognitive agility. Let's dig down on the offline ways of doing things considering the pandemic we are in, so you do things differently in your real estate investing business for you to stand out from your competitors. Whatever you do, it's wise to be making the right choices in terms of these crucial areas in your real estate investing business. That's why Paul shares action steps you can use to hone in on things worth spending your time and effort on. "Think different, be different. Stand out." - Paul Copcutt Topics Covered: 03:38 - Key elements to being very sure about your real estate investing brand foundation 05:02 - What most real estate investors do with their marketing and fall into a trap 06:27 - Stats that helps you in prospects and lead generation strategies in terms of the motivated seller market 08:24 - The analogy of a home country and its embassies when it comes to your website and social media 10:06 - What are the core conversion pages of your website? 13:51 - Think about the consistent content - Short-form and long-form 15:00 - What to avoid doing online 15:28 - The value in personalized marketing 15:56 - Don't forget to ask for an action 16:21 - What's with spamming 17:04 - Offline efforts you can be thinking about doing 18:07 - Creating and nurturing relationships 19:16 - Four key areas you need to be working on and making the right choices on 22:13 - Why you need to 'Think REI' Key Takeaways: "Think about the analogy of a home country and its embassies. If you think about the social media accounts, in particular, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, wherever else you happen to be active. Think of those as the embassies and the goal of those embassies. The activity that you do on those platforms is to drive people back to your home country, which is your website." - Paul Copcutt "There are five key pages that you want to think about, or sections of your website that are kind of core conversion pages. The homepage really needs to answer straight away, will you solve my problem?" - Paul Copcutt "Don't make it all about you. You don't need to be the hero. The hero is your client." - Paul Copcutt "Don't try to target everybody, you can't be everything to everyone, because then you really know nothing to nobody." - Paul Copcutt "Start to really hone in on a specific target audience. Don't forget to ask for an action. Any marketing that you're doing, if you're not asking for somebody to take the next step, they're not going to figure that out." - Paul Copcutt "You want to really spell it out for people feeling very comfortable. Addressing what is effectively going to be our new normal for quite some time." - Paul Copcutt "Don't forget to double down on relationships, people are craving connection of any type right now. - Paul Copcutt "Low-Cost options work way better than spending a ton of money in the wrong direction." - Paul Copcutt Connect with Paul Copcutt: reibranded.com LinkedIn E:podcastl@paulcopcutt.com Music: Thank you to Zoax for the intro music

Episode Timeline * [1:52] How Covie got into family wealth advisory * [6:12] Ideal clients and what clients are seeking when they come to Ballentine Partners * [9:00] Looking at the bigger picture when looking at client's needs and investments * [13:20] Increased percentage of uptake in trust built client relationships * [16:18] Patterns when creating investment and wealth management plans * [19:58] The primary sources of initial wealth for first generation families that Covie sees * [20:58] Why more money can actually make parenting harder * [25:34] Next generation success being driven by successes in life and self-motivation * [27:38] Finding the balance to give children fulfilling lives of meaning * [33:33] Focusing on the communication of values when discussing shared assets * [38:12] Inheritor's guilt for advantages they received and how to counteract that * [41:55] Covie's advice to a driven entrepreneur who inspired to be the founding generation * [45:10] The four success factors Covie believes all successful next generation members share * [47:50] The role Covie plays in helping families in philanthropic legacy and impact projects * [55:12] Covie's belief in wishing for our children to have the confidence to handle the struggles of life Standout Quotes * "You do need to have a pretty good degree of self-awareness and being able to look in the mirror as a parent to understand how you might need to evaluate and potentially change your own behavior relative to a child, in order to allow that child to become independent and financially self-sufficient." – Covie Edwards-Pitt [15:12] * "If you have very little money, it's very challenging. Then as you get more money it gets easier, and as you get more money it becomes harder again. I definitely see that to be the case. I think the reason is, having money, having an abundance of resources essentially, more than you would need, has a way of complicating every single parenting interaction with your child in a way that, to no fault of the parents, might essentially deprive the child of a lesson that they would have learned by default if their family have had less” – Covie Edwards-Pitt [21:31] * "Content, productive, driven by their inner sense of motivation, grounded, satisfied, passionate in their career choice. That sort of list of characteristics was evident to me because I recognize it all the time in the next gens." – Covie Edwards-Pitt [26:19] * "Fulfilling lives have as part of them, struggle. Something that the person can think back on as something they have overcome in their life that gives them a sense of pride." – Covie Edwards-Pitt [28:45] * "Communication is key. Communicating the values and the framework that are driving parent's decisions in a clear, transparent way is very important. I coach my clients to try to think about, what are the types of things we'd like to support? What are the types of things that we would like to help children with, when they reach those milestones in their lives? – Covie Edwards-Pitt [34:39] * "The most important advice I would give is to say... that your child, when they look in the mirror as an adult... When they ask themselves do I have this job or do I have this responsibility or title because of my name or because of my effort? They can answer, my effort." – Covie Edwards-Pitt [42:09] Key Takeaways * Think of a client relationship and services provided as a much larger conversation about the client and what they hope to achieve as a whole * The ways to recognize patterns when creating investment and wealth management plans for ultra high net worth families * Ways in which parents with substantial means can still raise well-rounded children * How success in the next generation can be different as it is more about the inner sense of motivation and satisfaction * Why it's important to allow children to struggle to attain a fulfilling and contented life * The communication involved when managing shared family assets * Inheritors will often find a true sense of purpose when they develop their own sense of contribution and passion in life * Having family constitutions and clear frameworks for inheritor's to truly feel they deserve their position * Covie's four success factors she has found all successful next generation members share For more episodes go to BusinessOfFamily.net (https://www.businessoffamily.net/) Sign up for The Business of Family Newsletter at https://www.businessoffamily.net/newsletter (https://www.businessoffamily.net/newsletter) Follow Mike on Twitter @MikeBoyd (https://twitter.com/MikeBoyd) If you feel it's appropriate, I'd so appreciate you taking 30 seconds to Leave a Review on iTunes (http://getpodcast.reviews/id/1525326745), I receive a notification of each review. Dealing with change is a process for everyone, but why is it that sometimes we adapt quickly while other times it's almost painful and yet other times, despite our best intentions, the change doesn’t stick? Understanding various elements of how change happens and factors that influence change can make the process easier for yourself and others. In this episode, I walk through seven factors that can help you streamline the change journey and increase the chances of a smooth change process. The full episode guide includes an overview of the seven areas to consider to help you manage changers more smoothly. Read the related blog article: 7 Ways to Help Yourself and Others Manage Change Key Takeaways: Think of change as a journey, not an event. We experience change as a process of moving from point A to point B, from leaving what was and arriving at what will be. The change journey is complete when you’ve arrived at your new normal. We experience change more positively when we are in control and have chosen to change. Invite people into the decision early or give people a choice to opt in to a change. In order for us to gain something new, we must let go of something else. This experience of loss can be more dramatic than adapting to the new. Consider who is gaining what and who is losing what for each change. Avoid blanket statements about change being good or bad in the same way for everyone involved. The change journey is also an emotional journey. By understanding the emotional rollercoaster, we can put our experience in context. When we lack the skills, knowledge, environment or motivation for change, the journey is almost impossible. Changes often have implications beyond what is initially perceived. Some changes seem small but are quite big while other changes appear big but are actually small. Dealing with change is easier when we are part of a group. Whenever possible, talk about the change experience and support each other to move forward.

The Smart, Fabulous & Single Podcast with Tricia-Anne Y. Morris
Today I'm speaking with our expert about this week's topic. It's practical. It hits all the hard places, and offers tips and solutions to help us move to the next level. Episode Summary In this episode of Ask the Expert, I speak with certified coach, counselor, educator, and my long time friend, Tameka Williams-Walker, a.k.a. Coach Tami. Coach Tami explains that there is a stigma placed on women who are single. This stigma causes some women to see singleness as a curse and makes them believe that they have to get married to be made whole. She debunks the myth and tells us how single women can enjoy and make the best of their single lives. Key Takeaways Think of yourself as a queen. You're a queen. You're a princess and should be treated accordingly (16:38) Many women do not know what love looks like. They do not understand what a good relationship entails, which is unfortunate (16:45) If you are not in relationship continue to do things to develop yourself as a person (17:19) I think if there is actual talk between single and married people, they would understand that there are also things that need to be addressed (in marriage). And that it's not always that the grass is greener on the other side (23:26) Top Quotes To look at it as a blessing, it's about a mindset. It's about changing from the inside out. It's renewing of your mind (10:29) Have systems or programs in place where people can get that support, they can get that help, they can empower each other. Women empowering each other (11:11) As a Christian woman if you continue to develop a deeper relationship with God and have faith and trust Him, I know He will direct you to the right partner (11:45) Learn to love yourself first. That's after God Of course. You definitely must love God first (16:24) A woman who is self-sufficient is confident and her self esteem is strong. Let me tell you and she has God in her life, I promise you that will make the difference. That will make a major difference (20:58) Do not leave God out of your decision-making process, it will make your life so much easier (24:05) Resources Struggling with issues from the past, check out Coach Tami's book: Take Back Your Life: How to Triumph through Adversity Trying to get over a bad relationship, check out my book: From I Do to I Don't Stay Connected Thanks for listening to this episode. In this episode, Jeff and Ron discuss: • Ron's impressive career journey from wanting to quit the business to his innovating and pioneering path in financial advising.• The dimensions of trust and how to move up the dimensions.• The evolution of digital connection to the future of the financial advising industry.• Putting yourself, your physical health, and your mental health as a priority. Key Takeaways: • Think about the heirarching between customer, client, and advocate with those that you work with and serve. How are you moving your customers to become clients then to advocates?• People crave connection. Even in times like these where we are so isolated, we need to find ways to connect with one another however we can.• Complacency is the most common form of business cancer - you must be able to adjust and challenge yourselves to better yourself and your company.• Balance leads to growth, growth leads to balance.• Build whitespace into your calendar - thinking is something we should all spend more time doing. That also means a lot of distractions can arise, making it a challenge to keep a pulse on the market and build their brand. That’s why our guest Mike Mony of Cathar games will be sharing how indie devs can identify objectives, create goals and establish a strong foundation in the early stages of their business, so they have the right mindset and course to follow. The Q-Box Round Answers! Star Wars or Star Trek?Star Trek Early Bird or Night Owl? Night Owl What motivates you every day? Family What country have you always wanted to travel to? England What’s been one of your greatest learning experiences? Game jams Key Takeaways Think creatively in how you can leverage resources (other than just money) Consider bartering with other creators in how you both can contribute to each other's projects. Don't focus so much on the gameplay story, focus on the feelings the game will provide. Focus on how people should feel about the game and their interactive experience. These three principles and their associated action items are the foundation for manifesting your dream life and creating a space where the universe rewards you with what it is you actually seek. Then, Kris gives two real-life examples of what happens when you follow the principles, and also why persistence is key if it doesn’t go perfectly at first. Key Takeaways: Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill is so much more than a book. It’s a manifestation guide, roadmap to getting your mindset right, and resource for creating habits that work for us instead of holding us back. It comes from the successful strategies from over 500 multi-millionaires and powerful business owners, leaders, and thinkers. Know what you want, and make it specific. Write down a specific and detailed description of what your perfect day would look like, your perfect relationship, health, etc. When we take the time to declare it and cement it in our subconscious, our brain believes it has actually occurred and we are living our dream life. Feel the burning desire. Wealth represents your value to others. The 6 steps to acquiring more wealth: Fix in your mind the exact amount of money you desire. Decide exactly what you will offer for that money? Select a date to possess the money. Create a definite plan and implement it immediately. Summarize 1-4 into a clear written statement. Read this statement 2X daily out loud (once before you go to bed and once in the morning), and see/feel yourself already possessing the money. Kris shares a success story of Beth Davis from Kids for Kids Academy where she took what she learned, put it in an actionized plan, and communicated it authentically to her team. If you are struggling with enrollment, look to the people that have said yes and learn more about them, or figure out a way to show your value to the market. Don’t give up if your dream doesn’t come to fruition right away. Stay persistent. You’re in a meeting. Maybe it’s a creative brainstorm. And an idea pops into your head. A good one. No, a really good one. Objectively good. But when you say it out loud, the rest of your team gloss over it. This happens a few more times, and suddenly you realize that your opinion doesn’t get the attention it deserves. We sit down with our CEO for 15 minutes each week, every week to get practical business advice so we can advance in our careers. In this episode, we learn what to do if feel like your opinion doesn’t count... Key Takeaways: Think about the way you present your ideas. Don’t uptalk. Consider asking someone else who was in the meeting why they think your idea wasn’t well received. Think about how you inject yourselves into conversation? Don’t use language to undermine your ideas. If the women in the room feel like they’re not being listened to, they need to amplify each other’s ideas. If you feel like you’re not being listened to, find a mentor at your company that will communicate honestly with you about how you’re being perceived in meetings. Ultimately, if you’re communicating effectively and still not being listened to, it may be time to go and find a new job.

But when his employee asked if they were going to survive or not, he reassured her that everything would be okay. In this episode, Chad Lowe shares the harrowing tale of the hostage situation, the SWAT team and the aftermath that he and his employees had to endure and the mindset he used to carry on. Chad Lowe is the assistant Vice President of Operational Training for BancFirst, one of Oklahoma's largest and highest rated financial institutions.
