In this explosive revelation, Tulsi Gabbard, former Congresswoman and now high-level intelligence official, drops a bombshell: Operation Mockingbird, the once-secret CIA program to control U.S. media through paid journalists and editors, was never shut down—it's still active today. Originally uncovered in 1977 by Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Carl Bernstein, Mockingbird placed intelligence assets inside America's most trusted newsrooms to shape public opinion. Gabbard's discovery reignites scrutiny, revealing the continued use of coordinated messaging, disinformation, and propaganda across modern outlets—even implicating current government efforts to suppress her findings. As Gabbard fights to shut it down, figures like Sen. Tom Cotton move to strip her authority. If true, this may be the most significant media scandal in modern American history—and a turning point in the war over truth.
This week on NAFC, Windows 11 update... and still no one wants it. The crew shares their collective refusal while sidetracking into the mystery of Sister Hong (don't worry, it's as weird as it sounds). Gibbs gives his thoughts on Solo Leveling and whether it lives up to the anime hype, while Mox returns from ACGHK 2025 with tales of merch, crowds, and cosplay chaos. He also reviews Fantastic Four: First Steps, Marvel's latest attempt at relevance—does it stick the landing? Meanwhile, Izzy's one minor inconvenience away from actually killing a mockingbird. They wrap it up with a review of Fermat's Room (2007), where math becomes deadly and the tension's tighter than Gibbs' trust circle. Support us on Patreon!
Aaron Bartz brings a grounded, thoughtful energy to the role of Draco Malfoy in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, and in this conversation, he shares just how much life and imagination go into keeping the magic alive night after night. From flying and fire to illusions and high-stakes contingencies, Aaron walks us through what it's like to debut on Broadway in one of the most technically demanding plays out there—and why so many actors in the production come from classical Shakespeare backgrounds. We also explore Aaron's journey from Great Falls, Montana to the Lyric Theatre in NYC, including a pivotal classroom moment that set him on the path to acting, and how a love of storytelling (and a little persistence) helped him land gigs that ultimately led to an MFA from Yale. Now a father of two, Aaron reflects on how playing Draco as a parent has shifted his own understanding of growth, vulnerability, and legacy. Aaron Bartz is an actor and writer currently starring as Draco Malfoy in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child on Broadway. He earned his MFA from the Yale School of Drama and began his career with regional Shakespeare productions across the country. He toured nationally with the Montana Repertory Theatre in To Kill a Mockingbird, and his previous work includes Loves Labour's Lost, Macbeth, and other classical works. After confronting severe illness, Jordan shed a career as a producer to walk the road of personal transformation, finding his medicine in shamanic study of plants. trees, breath and fasting. The “plant dieting” practices of the Amazon have radically transformed Jordan's life, vision, health and purpose and come to him primarily through Cocama elder, William Llerena Murayari. After 7 years of mentorship under Apache elder, Iron Eagle Joe, Jordan received the name Mockingbird and was given the blessing to teach through ceremony. He carries a facilitator certification from Embodied Masculine granted under the supervision of Amir Khalighi. --- TOPICS WE COVER IN THIS EPISODE:

Can storytelling really transform the way we lead, connect, and communicate at work? In this episode, I'm joined by TEDx speaker, trauma-informed coach, and author of Meerbott's Fables, Kelly Meerbott. Inspired by none other than Dr. Seuss, Kelly's tales aren't just for bedtime—they're changing how leaders talk about tough topics like psychological safety, DEI, burnout, and inclusion. We unpack why storytelling hits so differently today, how it can cut through corporate noise, and why the ability to connect emotionally might just be the most underrated leadership skill of all. Whether you're a CEO or a storyteller-in-waiting remember, if they're not moved, they won't move. ----more---- Key Takeaways If they're not moved, they won't move – Leadership communication needs emotion, not just information. Stories break down resistance – Fables connect with people across neurotypes, roles, and belief systems. Say less, mean more – Jargon kills clarity. Simplicity and humanity create impact. Use story to spark discussion, not silence it – Good stories open space for reflection, disagreement, and growth. ----more---- Key Moments The key moments in this episode are: 0:00:10 – The problems with communication today 0:04:00 – Who is Kelly Meerbott? In this episode of 'The Biggest Table,' I interview Dave Zahl, founder of Mockingbird Ministries and author of several books, including 'Seculosity' and 'Low Anthropology.' We delve into Dave's latest release, 'The Big Relief: The Urgency of Grace for a Worn-Out World,' discussing why grace remains a vital topic. Dave explains the continuous need for grace in a world that is often performance-driven and how his experiences and personal struggles informed his writings. The conversation touches on various aspects of grace, including its role in personal relationships, parenting, and religious life. Additionally, we explore the concepts of rest, play, and the stress induced by modern life's acceleration. The conversation concludes by discussing the joy and grace found in food, meals, and hospitality, reflecting on how shared meals and culinary experiences can bring grace and connection.David Zahl is the founder and director of Mockingbird Ministries, editor-in-chief of the Mockingbird website (www.mbird.com), and co-host of both The Mockingcast and The Brothers Zahl podcasts. I'm joined by David Zahl, returning YHP guest and editor-in-chief of Mockingbird's online magazine. David is also a massive Beach Boys/Brian Wilson fan like myself, so I knew he would be perfect to talk with about what we know about Brian Wilson's personal faith and spirituality. We also celebrate what his music has meant to us personally, playing a lot of song clips along the way. This is a dual-feed episode on both the You Have Permission and Pretty Good Vibrations feeds because the content feels like it fits in both places. Brian Wilson passed away on June 11th. Although my attempt to have a strong line between the first half of the episode (more focused on his faith) and the second (mostly just focused on the music), things got a little blended up. Nonetheless, if you'd like to skip most of the faith/theology stuff, a good place to start listening is around the 60 min mark. Philip Yancey is an American author who grew up in a strict fundamentalist Christian home, which led to a mistrust and eventually deconstruction of his faith. Yancey turned his attention to books and the Bible and eventually began to reconstruct his faith in God. Join Unscrolled host Matthias Walther as he talks to author Philip Yancey about his faith journey, upbringing, and how his writing and reading helped reconstruct his faith. Guest bio:Philip Yancey is a Christian, American author who has written 36 books, selling over 15 million copies. Philip Yancey grew up in a strict, fundamentalist church in the South, where he viewed God as a punishing figure and witnessed contradictions in teachings of love and grace. After his father died of polio despite fervent prayers, Yancey wrestled with faith, finding solace and new perspectives in books like “To Kill a Mockingbird” and C. S. Lewis's works. He felt betrayed by the church's racism and dogma, eventually discarding his beliefs and later rediscovering a faith marked by beauty and goodness. As a writer, he pursued answers to deep spiritual questions in bestsellers like “Disappointment with God,” and “What's So Amazing aAbout Grace?,” often drawing from his own journey and guiding readers with similar struggles. His memoir, “Where the Light Fell,” recounts this personal evolution, while his life's work aims to connect with those who feel marginalized by traditional religion. We dive into the fascinating real-life story behind the show, his emotionally raw portrayal of journalist Skeets Miller, and how a tragic event from 100 years ago still mirrors today's media culture. Taylor shares what it's like to be the emotional center of a musical, how his understanding of connection has deepened post-lockdown, and the joy (and challenge) of performing for an audience that includes a dog with pink ears in the front row. From mental health advocacy to navigating the tension between real-life presence and online identity, Taylor gets candid about the evolution of his craft and the culture around him. He even takes us on a comedic detour into the plot of Cats (kind of) and imagines a version of Into the Woods that features Titus Burgess in every role, with the Muppets rounding out the cast. Whether you're here for the insight, the artistry, or the chaos—it's all here.Taylor Trensch is a Tony-nominated actor currently starring as Skeets Miller in Floyd Collins at Lincoln Center Theater. His past Broadway credits include Dear Evan Hansen, To Kill a Mockingbird, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, Hello, Dolly!, and Matilda. He's also known for his advocacy around mental health and his commitment to emotionally resonant storytelling on stage. Eric highlights the parallels between the song ("The Mockingbird and the Crow" by Hardy) and the journey of contractors in business. He analyzes the song's structure and lyrics to illustrate the duality faced by contractors: being a skilled worker (the "mockingbird") versus becoming a successful business owner (the "crow"). Participants in the discussion reflect on this analogy, sharing personal experiences of transformation, overcoming challenges, and the importance of coaching and community in their own professional growth, referencing specific role-playing exercises. The episode highlights the value of adapting, learning, and embracing change to reach one's full potential in the contracting world. Key Takeaways: Understand the journey from being a mockingbird who imitates others to becoming a crow who embodies intelligent change. Recognize that continuous learning, coaching, and adaptation are essential for growth and breaking through plateaus. Find a supportive community or mentor to provide guidance and positive peer pressure on your path. Learn to listen deeply, address internal negativity, and overcome pride or resistance to training. Use what you learn to become the best version of yourself, integrating systems while developing your unique style. In this fiery episode, we turn the tables on the right-wing outrage machine by exploring what actual cancel culture looks like under the current administration. We dive into the Pentagon's removal of webpages about minorities who served in the military, including Ira Hayes, the Native American Marine who helped raise the flag at Iwo Jima.We play a game of "Do You Remember?" highlighting the hypocrisy of those who decried "cancel culture" just a few years ago but are now actively erasing history that doesn't fit their narrative. We examine the shocking DEI purges happening across government agencies, particularly in the National Archives and Department of Defense. From historical monuments to classic films and music, we explore what American culture would look like if we truly followed through on current efforts to erase "DEI" from our collective memory - everything from Johnny Cash's music to "To Kill a Mockingbird" would be on the chopping block. We connect contemporary deportation policies to Bush-era "black sites" and examine how the current administration learned its playbook from previous Republican administrations.Recorded March 20, 2025.
