What's going on with the Discount Tire logo? Discount Tire is a wheel and tires retailer established in 1960 and today is one of the largest companies in its segment, operating over one thousand stores across the USA -- despite its logo that gives fast food and cartoons. I explore the significance of color and branding in influencing consumer perception. I share an anecdote about walking by a Discount Tire store and critique its branding choices, particularly its Flintstones crooked bubble letters, which contradicts the message of safety and reliability crucial for tires. This episode delves into the psychology behind color usage in various industries. Branding is about emotional connection and aligning the visual and auditory elements with the desired consumer experience. Today, Cheryl Meyer joins us to share her inspiring journey of overcoming chronic autoimmune disease. Cheryl was a successful solopreneur – and like many of us, neglected her health due to her busy lifestyle, which eventually took a toll on her body. After extensive research and significant lifestyle changes, she was able to ditch the pain and return to a balanced and healthy life. And today, she is here to help you start to find your missing puzzle pieces and begin to adopt a healthier lifestyle. In this episode, you will hear: ●      Why you should also stop eating CRAP (carbonated, refined, artificial, and processed) food. ●      How dieting and changing your diet are two different things. ●      Eating from the rainbow from the Farm-acy. ●      Your pets are also affected by the toxins in your house, not just you. ●      What functional medicine is and what you should look for in a functional medicine practitioner. ●      Why the SAD (Standard American Diet) is sad for your body. ●      Changing the social mindsets around land use and growing food.   Ten years ago, I was a solopreneur when I woke up one morning and couldn't get out of bed because of pain in my joints and my muscles. My conventional doctor ran many tests but had no clue what was wrong with me. She believed that there was NOTHING wrong with me and that I should seek mental therapy.   I was working 24/7, not practicing any kind of self-care. I was eating on the fly and eating as fast as I was working. My diet was processed food of all kinds and it was making me sick. I had an autoimmune disease. My stress was so out of control that my cortisol was almost to Addison's disease. Something had to change, I couldn't function.   I researched, changed my lifestyle and eating habits, and ditched my pain of autoimmune disease. I lost 65 pounds without dieting, but by allowing my body to return to balance by eating the rainbow of organic whole foods.   I work with clients with chronic illnesses to help them return to balance and wellness. My superpower is helping others find the puzzle pieces for wellness that they can control for themselves. Eating the rainbow, and adopting my 22 pillars of health, I no longer have pain from my autoimmune disease, and I feel great. I want others to enjoy feeling great as well. I have books, classes, podcasts, cookbooks, and coaching available to support this process. My magazine on health is due out at the end of May. It Feels Good to Feel Good Magazine, Inspiration for a Healthier Life   My superpower is finding holistic solutions for missing puzzle pieces to wellness. The magazine will be a roadmap for the many different avenues to health. Nothing is Impossible. Embrace the possible. Health is a journey, it is not a destination.   Episode References: ●     Environmental Working Group: https://www.ewg.org/ ●     What's On My Food?: https://www.whatsonmyfood.org/ ●     Institute for Functional Medicine: https://www.ifm.org/   Connect with Cheryl Meyer: Website: www.cherylmhealthmuse.com Email: cherylmhealthmuse@gmail.com Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/cheryl.meyer3/ Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/feelinggoodlivinglowtoxin/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/cherylmhealthmuse/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/cherylmeyer/ Books: https://cherylmhealthmuse.com/store/book/ Ditch Your Diet Program: https://cherylmhealthmuse.com/product/ditch-your-diet-program-run-quarterly-class-description/   Connect with R Blank and Stephanie Warner: For more Healthier Tech Podcast episodes, and to download our Healthier Tech Quick Start Guide, visit https://HealthierTech.co and follow https://instagram.com/healthiertech     Additional Links: ●     Shield Your Body website: https://ShieldYourBody.com ●     Shield Your Body Youtube Channel: https://youtube.com/shieldyourbody ●     Host R Blank on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/rblank9/ ●     Shield Your Body on Instagram: https://instagram.com/shieldyourbody

(2:30) Kurt shares his history with finding Vinnie through Adam Carolla 7 years ago. He also gives a rundown of his health journey; as a result, he's an advocate for NSNG® and loves to participate in the Facebook group (as an admin) and on Twitter to help others learn about healthy options. Vinnie discusses gimmicky food and SAD (Standard American Diet) and part of the problem with them. (5:00) Kurt continues to be motivated by the Facebook group, and he and Vinnie chat about early "Meat Ups" and the NSNG® community. They discuss Kurt's restaurant and how he handles the temptation of non-NSNG® options. (10:00) Then, as one who is familiar would expect, the conversation turns to Twitter and a particular map Kurt shares more than frequently, which is a pictorial guide to advantageous anatomy. Living WOW Out Loud: Thriving With Autoimmune Diseases

Last episode I introduced you to Body Language and invited you to take on learning the language that your body speaks to you. Did you do your homework? Did you learn to count to 8 in Body Language? If so you have a foundational knowledge of the communication environment of your body! Your binge listening and review of the 8 Lessons and the 8 Systems has created a communication-rich environment for learning. If you haven't done your homework, you can still listen to today's language lesson but don't expect to become fluent if you don't practice. You must create an environment for learning and practice or you will never learn a new language. This Body Language series will build as we go so if you haven't yet, go back and binge a few hours of listening to get your learning environment primed for communication. 8 Lessons Lupus Taught Me can be found in the Bonus Episode series and the 8 System Framework to Becoming the Expert in Your Body summer series is found in episodes 13-21. So just like your Spanish teacher starts speaking to you in Spanish when you enter the classroom, I'm going to immerse you in Body Language terminology as I teach you how to understand and communicate with your body. Before we begin to learn vocabulary and translation it's important to first learn the foundational skills of communication. Namely joint attention, turn-taking, and topic maintenance. These foundational skills are required in any communication exchange and may include both verbal and non-verbal components. A breakdown in any of these areas will result in a communication breakdown and either a misunderstanding or the abandonment of the communication exchange altogether. Because they are an essential foundation let's break them down a little to make sure you are able and willing to be an active and willing communication partner. Is it any wonder that as a culture of SAD (Standard American Diet and Lifestyle) the communication dyad with our bodies has been ignored and lost resulting in the loss of Body Language that was widely recognized and understood by ancient civilizations? Your body is innately designed to heal. Health is the natural state of the body. The communication of your Body Language is the outward physical manifestation of what is happening inward that you cannot see or touch but you can feel and experience. Now that you have the basics of communication it's time to start translating. Join me next week as we begin to introduce some core vocabulary of Body Language so that you can regain the relationship you were born to have with your body. Living WOW Out Loud: Thriving With Autoimmune Diseases

It is time to wake up, return to your roots, and realize that you are the expert in your own body. Over the past 50 years, there has been a startling rise in the number of autoimmune diseases and chronic diseases in the United States and around the world. Just as startling is the realization that we have brought it on ourselves. Why in the world would I say that? Because it is true. As was learned with the human genome project and further supported by the ongoing microbiome research, these diseases are not hereditary as once thought. In fact, more than 80% of ALL diseases are linked to lifestyle. Statistically, medical accidents or injuries are the 3rd leading cause of death in the United States. This can include anything from a surgical mishap to a medication interaction oversight. Despite these alarming statistics, we continue looking for solutions in the wrong places. As a society, we have come to depend upon our medical community to provide care for chronic diseases when it was designed to be an acute care system. We look at a system that is bloated and broken with frustration but don't want to take responsibility for our contribution to it. You take your medication like your life depends on it but really it may be doing more harm than good. After being both a provider and a participant in the healthcare system, I have seen the ravages and faults of both sides. I am not here to point fingers or name blame but rather to provide an alternative perspective. What if the science really is true and we can prevent disease by the lifestyle choices we make? What if SAD (Standard American Diet & Lifestyle) is the underlying reason for the skyrocketing autoimmune diseases? What if we only utilized the medical system for emergencies rather than maintenance? Going even one step further, what if we not only prevent new diseases but is it possible to reverse disease processes once in motion? Again, I am not here to make claims of miraculous healing, but I have witnessed the power of healing in my body and many others that lead me to believe that our bodies are extremely resilient and have an innate power to heal if given the environment to do so. When I began to understand the power of cell regeneration this point was made clear. It is a fact that you are going to replicate cells, replacing old cells with new ones. Do you want them to be healthy cells or sick cells? What do you feed them? What environment do you provide for them? Those simple truths are the genesis of the Living WOW Center. The first thing I want to clarify is that lifestyle is just a series of perpetual choices you make throughout each day, most of which you make ocmpletely unconsciously. We do what we do because everyone else is doing it. This autopilot is what I refer to as SAD (Standard American Diet & Lifestyle). Lifestyle in this context is not dependent upon the money you make or the city you live in. In fact, research studies of the few remaining indigenous cultures around the world reveal that they do not suffer any of the maladies and diseases of out modern societies such as autoimmune disease, cancer, or other chronic diseases. They live a wild and simple life with no western medicine and are studied to determine what they have that we don't They have healthier bones, organs, and microbiomes just to name a few. What could you do differently that might create healthier, stronger new cells instead of diseased or rogue cells? What might it look like if you had a turnover of healthy cells replacing sick cells? What might happen if you took 100% responsibility for the lifestyle choices you make and the results of those choices rather than taking a pill to mask a symptom or running to the doctor to give you an answer that he doesn't have (but you do)? Check out Supercharge at Living WOW Center to see how easy it can be!

In this episode of True Health Revealed, we interviewed nationally renowned low carb advocate and author of the 2020 book “The Case for Keto,” Gary Taubes.Gary is known for being a passionate advocate for low carb approaches to nutrition, and by so doing, improving insulin sensitivity. From the perspective of many on “my side” (believers in plant rich eating patterns inclusive of legumes, whole fruits and whole grains), Gary is often thought of as someone that has an almost zero tolerance for all (even 100% whole) grains, root/tuberous (a.k.a. “starchy”) vegetables, legumes and most fruits that we consider strongly associated with vitality and longevity.Yet we had a very comfortable discussion reverting back and forth from personal experiences (including his addiction to smoking and my binge eating disorder) to discussing randomized controlled trials of nutrition (including the renowned DIETFITS trial of healthy low-carb versus healthy low-fat diets, led by Christopher Gardner at Stanford). I found Gary not to be “scary.” To me, our discussion revealed a humble, at times charmingly self-deprecating man who is, dare I say, flexible (e.g., pointing out correctly that the maintenance phase of Atkins diet phases has many similarities with plant predominant Flexitarian eating though most only focus on Atkins initial, ketosis inducing “induction phase”). He is also curious (for instance, about the nothing-but-meat “carnivore diet,” about which he's curious more than anything). I heard no outright denial of the fact that a plant rich, flexitarian or even vegan approach (keeping in mind his wife, he makes clear, is close to plant pure) wasn't appropriate and healthy for many. But he absolutely made clear his belief that controlling insulin via a low carb approach and titrating (adjusting) carbohydrate was key from his perspective to managing insulin resistance and weight control. Now, I don't fully agree with that, obviously. Yet I saw no reason not to look at the mass majority of where we agreed… And yes, we could meet and “break bread” (minus the bread of course) over a fresh bed of vegetables and sustainable fish. In the spirit of the words he wrote to me in a personally signed copy of his newest book, “Here's to Switzerland…!” Some of Gary's summary points• Colorful low starch vegetables are healthy! He never ate more before going low carb.• Low-carb/keto is for metabolic correction in the insulin resistant and certainly is compatible with transitioning to a Flexitarian type eating pattern. But if weight gain/insulin resistance recurs…titrate back on carbohydrate, especially CRRAHP™ (calorie rich, refined and highly processed) carbs, but also whole grains, legumes, starch based vegetables and most whole fruits.• Foods containing CRRAHP™ carbs add addictive qualities and many people, though not necessarily all, may need to consider them like an addictive drug to be “dosed” carefully and with honest personal admission to susceptibility for drug like dependency.• Gary's approach to low-carb and ketogenic diets is about personal experimentation and finding what works best to achieve metabolic health, unlike caricatures of him as someone who believes in absolutism. • Healthy populations such as Blue Zones and the Bolivian Tsimané tribes are different from westernized populations, particularly the United States with our insulin resistance and obesity epidemics. This is particularly in the sense that traditional (e.g., Blue Zones) and forager-horticulturalist based (for example, Tsimané) populations have never experienced the metabolic disruptions that drive our obesity epidemic, nor the epigenetic pressures that come from such, including those that occur in utero (e.g., upon unborn children to mothers who are insulin resistant). So while their eating patterns of high intakes of the legumes, root vegetables, whole grains, whole fruits and vegetables is quite justified considering the difference in their current and historical metabolic health (including lots of natural movement), the US population, which has been “raised” on the CRRAHP-SAD (SAD = Standard American Diet) is a different animal (no pun).• Social support is critical for any substantial transformational lifestyle change based on food behaviors, particularly in the inner circle of our lives such as life partners/spouses, is very important and otherwise makes any eating pattern that would be different than the CRRAHP saturated SAD (Standard American Diet) a struggle of a potentially insurmountable nature.• Gary is as human as anyone else when it comes to binge tendencies (like Dr. Rifai), and isn't averse to the occasional slice of pizza or a dessert, although he probably fights the urges more so than most of us.

His mission is educating the public about a carbohydrate addiction approach to treating obesity, diabetes and metabolic syndrome. Understanding the importance of replacing carbs in your diet with real food while simultaneously replacing carbs as a toxic, harmful response to emotional tension with a more effective diverse healthy set of emotion management tools for lifelong sustainability of mental and physical health, happiness and well-being. Converting people from toxic sugar burners to healthy fat (keto) burners while addressing the cause of addiction to carbs from an emotion management perspective. Sometimes using obesity surgery and devices as tools along the way, and helping people who have had bariatric surgery stay healthy and not relapseDr Rob Cywes is the ‘Carb Addiction Doc' whose medical practice focuses on the psychology and physiology of carbohydrate addiction. He was not overweight until he moved to the USA and started to eat SAD (Standard American Diet) when the weight piled: he gained 100 pounds. He realised that his weight struggle wasn't a problem with calories, but a dysfunctional relationship with a drug called sugar. When he treated sugar like a drug and himself as a drug addict, he was able to lose the weight and has remained stable for 22 years. He now recognises that there is a physiological component and a psychological component and for many, they have two jobs: firstly, deal with the psychological component in order to be successful in managing the emotional tensions which lead to secondly, dealing with physiological dependence of those instant gratification foods leading to carbohydrate addiction. “Like a city’s infrastructure, the liver has hundreds of different functions and is a connected with every part of the body.  At every moment of the day, this vital organ is involved in manufacturing, processing, and supplying vast amounts of nutrients for the 60 to 100 trillion inhabitants (cells) of the body. Each cell is, in itself, a microscopic city of immense complexity that generates billions of biochemical reactions per second. To sustain the incredibly diverse activities of all the cells of the body without disruption, the liver must supply them with a constant and uninterrupted stream of nutrients, enzymes, and hormones. With its intricate labyrinth of veins, ducts, and specialized cells, the liver needs to be completely unobstructed in order to maintain a problem-free production line and frictionless distribution system throughout the body.”  ~ Andreas Moritz ~ a Medical Intuitive and practitioner of Ayurveda, Iridology, Shiatsu and Vibrational Medicine. Author of The Amazing Liver & Gallbladder Flush, Timeless Secrets of Health and Rejuvenation, Lifting the Veil of Duality and It's Time to Come Alive.   The liver is our largest cleansing organ in our body. It must deal with all digestive functions in the body and much more.   Your liver is your best friend; treat it with mindfulness and kindness by eating clean food of the highest quality to lessen the amount of work it has to perform to keep you alive and healthy. When you eat the SAD (Standard American Diet) full of fried foods, meat, sodas, endless cups of coffee, dairy, unhealthy, hydrogenated fats, highly- acidic foods, white flour, and sugar, you damage the liver, clog the bile ducts responsible for the digestion of fats, and create liver and gallbladder stones.   Remember, when the liver works overtime all the time, its ability to filter out toxins becomes compromised. The stones start forming, clogging out both organs and eventually suppressing the immunity of the entire body.   Cleansing the liver is highly recommended for anyone who is trying to balance their hormones. Detox is vital because our bodies are loaded with chemicals, excess estrogens, and other toxins.   There are two critical steps you can take to maximize your liver’s ability to remove toxins.    These are: Decreasing toxic load Supporting the liver through dietary and lifestyle improvements
Recommendations to reduce toxic load: Eat an organic whole foods diet
Eat antibiotic and hormone-free meats, fish, and dairy

Use a whole-house water filtration system

Watch this free weight loss workshop to learn how to lose the weight you want without gaining it back! https://www.bsbtribe.com/workshopToday's episode is a short replay of a FB Live I did on the top Keto mistakes to avoid. After 5 years of keto, I have made so many mistakes. These are the top 7 that I recommend you avoid: NOT GETTING ENOUGH ELECTROLYTESSodium, magnesium, and potassium are so vital when starting the Ketogenic diet.OVEREATING CHEESE AND NUTS.It's hard. I know. I love cheese. Who doesn't? (ok, lactose-intolerant people don't). The cheese is fantastic and very keto-friendly. However, overeating will stall your weight loss and bloat you. The same goes for Nuts. They are healthy, yes, but it is effortless to eat too many.NOT TRACKING MY FOOD- AT LEAST IN THE BEGINNING.Here is the bottom line, you will never know how many carbs you are eating unless you track everything. You may think that there are no carbs in a specific food but once you input it into something like My Fitness Pal and it says 10 grams of carbs per serving you may change your mind about eating it.NOT MEASURING MY KETONES.This one goes hand in hand with tracking your food. You will not know for sure if you are following the Ketogenic Diet correctly unless you measure. That is just the cold hard truth.CHEATING AND EXPECTING KETO TO WORK.Weekends, holidays, and events are always happening. I started pretty strict with Keto and then a few weeks later something would come up, and I would cheat. Each time you cheat on keto, you immediately gain water weight. For me, the average is 5 lbs. It would set me back about a week and then I would follow Keto 3 more weeks and cheat again. You get the point.NOT REALIZING THAT KETO DESSERTS ARE STILL DESSERTS WITH FEWER SIDE EFFECTS.Ah, my wicked sweet tooth. I've been struggling with a sugar addiction all my life. Keto has helped a lot. However, I fell into a bad habit of eating too many Keto treats.Yes, Keto desserts are much better for you than the processed, high sugar high carb desserts, but they are still desserts.BEING AFRAID TO EAT FAT.When it comes to top Keto mistakes to avoid, this was a big one for me because of my nutrition background. During my undergrad, I learned that fat is bad. Fat causes high cholesterol, heart disease, obesity, etc.I was so afraid that if I ate more fat than I would get fat. While this is true on a SAD (Standard American Diet) which is high in fat and carbohydrates, keto works the opposite.Get your free weight loss resources here: https://www.bsbtribe.com/resourcesSubscribe & Review in iTunesAre you subscribed to the Fit Moms Squad Podcast? As Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month begins “The Weight Loss Champion” Chuck Carroll is joined by Newport Beach, California-based gastroenterologist Dr. Angie Sadeghi who says we will shed far fewer tears when we stop eating the SAD — Standard American Diet. She also shares why poor diets are leading to an increased number of cases among younger adults. Dr. Sadeghi and Chuck also compare the number small number of cases related to genetics to the overwhelming majority that are driven by diet and lifestyle. One of the keys to lowering the risk of colon cancer is to load up on fiber. Hypoxia could be the most significant factor underlying most chronic diseases and general sickness, and like chronic hidden hyperventilation it is almost ignored in modern medicine.Perhaps the key problem arising from tissue hypoxia is impaired energy production by the cells’ mitochondria, the cell’s energy source. This reduced cellular energy lays the foundation for an unhealthy cell and susceptibility to disease and poor health. The evidence is now well established to link most chronic disease to hypoxia, this includes heart disease, diabetes, cancer, and almost every other disease of modern man.So how can we combat hypoxia? There are two proven approaches, one involves improving the way we breathe and eat, the other is a radical new discovery that uses oxygen-enriched water.Breath Training to Aleviate HypoxiaPoor breathing or more specifically chronic hyperventilation is a 21st century epidemic in modern societies. Over 75% of people in the West suffer some degree of hyperventilation or over-breathing. This arises from the lifestyle of modern western man; stress and diet being the two main factors causing this. Stress triggers the primitive fight/flight responses that includes increased respiratory rate. Chronic hyperventilation leads to loss of carbon dioxide and subsequent poor delivery of oxygen to the body’s tissue due to the Bohr Effect. Diet, the second major cause, arises from excessive over-consumption of meat, dairy and over-processed junk food that leads to metabolic acidosis. The body tries to correct this by eliminating large amounts of acid-forming carbon dioxide simply by hyperventilating or over-breathing..Usually both these factors are involved. My recent research has shown a high correlation between the way we breath and what we eat, and between what we eat and the quality of our breathing. Thus long-term health benefits can be achieved by learning better breathing and improved eating habits, and the good news is that as we improve the one it leads to improvement of the other! The Buteyko Method of breath training improves tissue oxygenation long-term and a progressive shift to a Whole Plant Diet that eliminates the metabolic acidosis associated with SAD (Standard American Diet) not only improves oxygenation, but gives many beneficial effects from the reduction of meat, dairy and highly processed foods. As part of any lifestyle changes, efforts should be made to ensure adequate hydration, as the vast majority of the public today also suffer from some degree of dehydration. Remember we are water-body creatures with liquid conductors for electric nerve impulses not copper wires, and it is water that transports all the nutrients to our cells, and it is water that carries away waste products and toxins and it is water that carries hormones that control body functions! If there is poor circulation of blood in any area of the body, cells there may still be suffering from hypoxia even with improved respiration and normal oxygen delivery to the rest of the body. This is especially the reason for using the second approach to deal with hypoxia, the use of oxygen-enriched water. Since every cell must have water for its survival, the oxygen-enriched water will be well absorbed and the oxygen supply will be increased to eliminate the hypoxia. Hydration with Oxygen Enriched WaterTo speedily address hypoxia it is now possible to achieve this by drinking oxygen enriched water and even bathing in this water. Because our body circulates water to every cell, if oxygen enriched water is used, every cell in our body is better and rapidly oxygenated, hypoxia is eliminated, even in areas where blood circulation is impaired, where improved respiration would have little effect. The oxygen enriched water is not simply water with added oxygen but it is the result of a special treatment that extracts hydrogen from the water leaving highly active and readily available oxygen. It is available internationally under two brand names, Kaqun Water or Elo Water. The great advantage of this latter approach is that it does not demand any lifestyle changes, re-training of our breathing habits or changes to our eating habits. Improved oxygenation is achieved almost regardless of the individual’s current lifestyle. What appears to happen is that over time, as the individual’s health improves, they tend to change their lifestyle towards a healthier way. This is similar to the effect of better breathing leading to better eating that my research has already demonstrated. Practical ConsiderationsFor anyone not suffering from any chronic disease and just wanting to improve their general health and well-being it would make sense to combine these two approaches initially and then to reduce the use of the oxygen enriched water over time. Such an approach would give a kick-start towards improved oxygenation and all the health benefits that derive from this. In the real world, the additional cost of oxygen-enriched water must be taken into account. For others with significant ill health associated with hypoxia, a more intensive use of oxygenated water for longer periods would be better combined with lifestyle changes as and when they felt ready. If the hypoxia has been causing damage for some time, a longer period of such water support would speed up repair and normalization of tissue oxygenation. Improved oxygenation may reduce the need for other medical interventions that would offset the additional cost of this approach.A balance should be met for each individual, depending on their state of health, their specific illness, their commitment to lifestyle changes and their financial status.

The Worlds Finest Diet. Episode 4. Getting Started with the 4LeafSurvey. The first stage in your journey towards better nutrition is to establish just where you are on this road already. Usually anyone wanting nutritional advice would attend a consultation with a nutritionist or diet specialist and spend perhaps over an hour completing a vast amount of form filling gathering data on your eating habits, nutritional requirements and so forth, however with the whole plant diet it is possible to gain sufficient information from a very simple questionnaire based on just twelve questions about your normal eating habits. This questionnaire is called the 4LeafSurvey and it is based on an eating concept designed to make it easy for everyone to learn how to eat a near optimal diet. Well, what in fact is an optimal diet for humans? This has been the basis of many thousands of hours of debate discussion and argument over the years but to cut to the chase let's just take a statement from the Cornell Professor who led the most comprehensive study of nutrition ever conducted. He summarizes his conclusions after half a century in a career as a nutritional scientist as follows: “The closer we get to eating a diet of whole, plant-based foods, the better off we will be” Dr.T.Colin Campbell, Ph.D., nutritional biochemist. So the 4LeafSurvey is a guide to where a person is on this journey towards the optimal diet. There are six levels that are based primarily on the percentage of calories derived from whole plant foods. At the bottom we call this a typical Western diet or the SAD Standard American Diet, it is the unhealthy diet and this usually contains a combination of meat, dairy, eggs, fish and more highly processed foods for almost every meal. This is probably the most popular diet style and is associated with a whole series of serious health problems and less than 10% of calories are derived from whole plants. At the next level, which is better than most, the percentage of calories derived from whole plants ranges from 10 to 20%, and those at this level are trying to eat a little healthier diet but they do need a better understanding of what promotes good health. At the one-leaf level we are looking at a diet that consists of between 20 and 40% of calories derived from whole plants. Although this is eating more plants than the majority of folks, people at this level are not consuming enough to provide much protection against disease. At the two-leaf level the percentage of calories derived from whole plants has risen to 40 to 60% and you are now eating 4 to 5 times more whole plants than most. Those at this level are still falling short of ensuring long-term vibrant health. At the three-leaf level 60 to 80% of calories are derived from plants. These people are getting over half the total calories from health promoting whole plant-based food and are experiencing many of the benefits of healthy eating. At the four-leaf level over 80% of calories are derived from whole plants. In the West this represents a very small minority of the population, and these people tend to be trim and enjoy vibrant health, lots of energy, take no medications and rarely have any disease and are likely to live a long and healthy life. So proceeding to complete this questionnaire, you will need to give your best estimate of your daily consumption of just twelve food groups. These are the questions you will need to answer: Fresh fruit. On average, how many daily servings of whole, fresh fruit do you eat? (fruit juice doesn't count as is not the whole plant.) 2.Whole vegetables. On average, how many daily servings of whole vegetables do you eat. Whole grains, legumes, potatoes. On average how many daily servings of these do you eat. Omega-3s. Are you getting all you need from whole plant-based sources like flax seeds, walnuts and chia seeds? Dairy foods. How many days per week do you eat dairy foods like cheese and yoghurt and ice cream? Eggs. How many days per week do either eat eggs or add them as an ingredient when cooking? Cows milk or cream. How many days per week you drink or add these to your food like cereal, coffee, etc? Added sugar. Are you really serious about eliminating added sugar at home and in food products that you buy? White flour. Bread, pasta, cakes & biscuits made with white flour. How would you describe your consumption level of these foods? Sweets and salty snacks. How would you best describe your consumption level of these foods? Meat, poultry and fish. How many of your meals per week include any animal flesh? (beef, pork, lamb, chicken, turkey or fish) Vegetable oil. How many of your meals per week include any oil, like olive, canola or coconut? All oil is 100% fat not a whole plant. So now you know what questions you will be asked to go to the 4LeafSurvey online HEREor complete the 4leafsurvey questionnaire HERE Whichever route you take you will find your 4LeafSurvey score that can range from -44 to +44. The six levels on the 4leafsurvey score system correspond to the following scores. A score of -21 to -44 is the bottom level and the most unhealthy diet. A score of -1 to -20 is in the second level and is better than most. A score of 0 to +9 is the one-leaf level, A score of +10 to +19 is the two-leaf level, A score of +20 to +29 is the three-leaf level A score of +30 to +44 is the four-leaf level. Now that you have your 4LeafScore the next episode will give you the advice as to how to improve on it and so progress to an optimal diet for your health and wellbeing.

Are you tired, sick, do you struggle with your weight? Are you concerned that your metabolism has slowed down? Are you getting the nutrients your body needs to be well? Diana Fletcher is a Health Educator who is passionate about teaching people the importance of good digestion and the value of plant based digestive enzymes, plant based vitamins and chelated minerals, about proteolytic enzymes and collagen and how important it all is to your overall health. Diana shares her journey with gaining more energy, losing weight, and feeling better simply by eating "living" foods. She says if we want to be ALIVE we have to eat alive! In the SAD (Standard American Diet) food is processed or "cooked" which kills the live enzymes we need in order for our body to function properly. As we age we lose enzymes and our body can't digest things like protein, fat, and dairy. Diana shares how "live enzymes" that are plant based and not "synthetic" can break down our food so we get the nutrients our body needs. Diana shares how taking digestive enzymes helped her 80 yr old mother who suffered with irritable bowel and diarrhea. Diana will demonstrate how the enzymes work in a cup of pudding and explain what whole foods can do to heal our system and restore us to optimal health. Learn how digestive enzymes helped a man with cancer, a woman with Crohn's disease, and how you can change your health by simply eating one meal a day packed with fresh live enzymes!

Amin Bahari has a game-plan is for Elite Sweets. The healthy alternative to the conventional, high fat and sugar donut. They want to give people donuts, regardless of predisposed health or body conditions. This is their mission! They want to help redefine the (SAD) Standard American Diet by offering healthier Sweets.    In order to tell you how they got here, they need to take you back to their college apartment in Austin, Texas. It was another late night, and naturally these young men were hungry. They had two options: fast food or donuts. And because they were (broke) college students, donuts were the obvious choice. Clearly the healthiest solution (not), but who doesn't like donuts, right?   Several nights later, they wondered what it would take to turn their favorite indulgence into a go-to healthy snack. Protein bars weren't cutting it and left a lot to be desired when it came to taste. However, they didn't just want to make a protein-packed sweet; they wanted one that everyone could enjoy regardless of their diet or health circumstances. Thus, The Elite Donut was born: a protein packed (16g to be exact), gluten-free, naturally sweetened donut. They satisfied their sweet tooth and created the ultimate post-work out sweet, now Amin wants to share his secret with you!   Check out episode 407 of "Cool Things Entrepreneurs Do" to hear about the journey of Elite Sweets.   http://www.elitedonut.com

ZoeTein, SuperFood-Grade Protein Muscle Support = Fat Loss The more SuperFood-quality protein your muscles get, the more efficient they become in burning fat and giving you maximum fat loss out of your exercise and activities - and even during resting. The sad fact is, in the stampede to lose weight America has lost sight of the real goal which is to get and stay healthy, and looking great. That requires muscle, and quality muscle requires quality protein. Most protein products have fallen short in their promise, and many of their customers have lost hope. It is time for a new paradigm: De-emphasize the pounds on the scale, and track the inches around your bottom and belt-line instead. Muscles and other well nourished tissues are heavy - in fact, the healthier they are, the more dense and heavier they are - but they are shapely, firm and tight. Isn't that what you really want? If you look sculpted, solid and trim, who cares what you weigh? - Right? Most people will not perceive your typical pound-based weight loss program as something positive if you have dumped heavy muscle, and kept the lighter weight watery fat. You have lost pounds, but you are still bulging all over - what good is that? Instead, concentrate on muscle firmness and those inches. Learn more about Zoetein.
