Kids are being told transition will solve their distress—and sometimes that the alternative is suicide. Todd examines the stories of two young people who were swept into transgender ideology and later rejected it, revealing how schools, social media, peers, therapists, and doctors can influence vulnerable kids. Segment 1 • Layla Jane began questioning her gender after years of emotional struggles. • Social media helped convince her that transitioning could be the answer. • At just 13, she underwent a mastectomy. Segment 2 • What wasn't Layla told before taking testosterone and having surgery? • Transition promised happiness—but it didn't resolve her underlying struggles. • Todd examines the evidence surrounding puberty blockers and youth mental health. Segment 3 • Simon Amaya Price describes the brokenness that preceded his transgender identity. • School and online influences gave him a new explanation for his struggles. • How does transgender ideology spread among vulnerable teenagers? Segment 4 • Simon says nearly every professional he encountered affirmed his transgender identity. • His father said no to medical transition—and Simon is now grateful he did. • What should parents and churches learn from these stories? ___ Thanks for listening! An historic tape was found. This week features a remarkable 1970 recording of Sylvia Rivera, Marsha P. Johnson, and other members of the Street Transvestite Action Revolutionaries (STAR), made by 20-year-old WBAI reporter Liza Cowan. Rediscovered nearly 50 years later by Making Gay History in the Lesbian Herstory Archives, the tape captures Rivera and Johnson speaking candidly about their lives, gender expression, discrimination, sexuality, and activism, as well as their efforts to create community and support for street youth through STAR House. This is what is believed to be the earliest known recording of Rivera and Johnson and offering an extraordinary first-person glimpse of two pioneering trans activists at the beginning of their political lives. In the news this week, a new report finds LGBTQ+ people make up more than 12 percent of the U.S. population, while a federal judge again strikes down Texas's drag ban. LGBTQ+ asylum seekers face heightened danger amid a migration crisis in Spain's Ceuta, and South African activists mobilize against an anti-LGBTQ+ “family values” conference. And in Ireland, Cork opens the country's first permanent LGBTQ+ museum exhibition, featuring a historic Rainbow Flag from San Francisco. Featured speakers: Brigitte Bandit, LGBT choir Choral Con Fusion, Sylvia Rivera, Marsha P. Johnson, Victor. Credits: Associate Producer/Host Lucia Chappelle, Producer Brian DeShazor, News writer Jeb Backe, the feature was produced by Brian DeShazor with assistance from Making Gay History and the Lesbian Herstory Archives. It's Thursday, August 27th, A.D. 2026. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 140 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com.  I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark and Adam McManus Haitian gang members killed 50 people in church Gang members attacked a church in Haiti on Sunday, killing nearly 50 people. Displaced people were sheltering in the building of Church of the Ark of the New Covenant. The evangelical church is located near Haiti's capital, Port-au-Prince. Up to 90 percent of the area is controlled by gangs. The gang members killed 47 people and injured another 22 people.  Please pray for Christians in Haiti who face much of the widespread gang violence in the country.  In John 10:10, Jesus said, “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” Germany first country to display Muslim prayer times on official signs Evangelical Focus reports a German town became the first in the country to display Muslim prayer times on its official signs. The municipality of Penzberg previously listed Sunday service times for the Catholic and Lutheran parishes in town. Signage now includes prayer times for the local mosque established in 1990. Muslims with a migrant background make up about eight percent of Germany's population, up from five percent in 2016. New U.S. economic sanctions against Iran The Trump administration announced aggressive economic sanctions against Iran on Monday.  Operation Economic Outcast aims to cut Iran's financial connections with the rest of the world. The sanctions will also affect any country doing business with the regime.  Listen to comments from Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. BESSENT: “We want to make clear here today that no one is above the reach of U.S. sanctions. That if they facilitate transactions and are part of the ecosystem that turns Iranian oil into money, into repression, they will be targeted.” Facebook/Instagram pay $18 billion over addictive algorithms for kids Meta Platforms agreed to pay up to $18 billion over the next decade in a settlement announced yesterday. Nearly every U.S. state accused the social media company of designing its platforms to be addictive to children. The tech giant is being held accountable for the role its platforms played in undermining children's mental health. These platforms include Facebook and Instagram.  California will get the largest sum of $1.5 billion, but several other states will still collect hundreds of millions of dollars each over the decade. The money will be used to pay for legal fees, mental health care for children, after-school programs, and education about the risks of social media use. According to the Associated Press, Meta will eliminate push notifications during weekday school hours and bring in “robust” age-assurance measures and “age-appropriate” content controls to prevent bullying and harmful material about eating disorders and self-harm. The case also argued that Meta violated federal laws by routinely collecting data on children under 13 without their parents' consent. As part of the settlement, Meta agreed to limit teenagers' use of Instagram and Facebook to a couple of hours a day. 1,235 assisted suicide deaths in California last year The state of California reported 1,235 assisted suicide deaths last year. The death toll is up nearly 150 percent over the past five years.  The California End of Life Option Act allows adults, expected to live six months or less, to obtain life-ending drugs. The state has authorized the deaths of at least 6,758 people since the law went into effect in 2016. 3 California homeschoolers sue over prohibition from participation Three homeschool families petitioned the U.S. Supreme Court last week after California excluded them from a state program. Some of California's tuition-free charter schools allow homeschool academy programs. However, families cannot use state funds from these charter schools for religious curriculum.  In one case, the state rejected a grammar exercise simply because it used the sentence: “God sends the rain to help plants grow.”  Acts 14:17 says God “did not leave Himself without witness, in that He did good, gave us rain from Heaven and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness.” Protestant churches are multigenerational Most Protestant churches report being multigenerational.  A survey from Lifeway Research found 91 percent of churchgoers agree their church has a good number of active members from all generations. Seventy-eight percent of pastors also agree.  Being multigenerational was more frequently reported by pastors of larger churches, younger pastors, and evangelical pastors.  Dolly Parton, who died at 80, championed a false gospel And finally, PARTON:  “Workin' 9 to 5, what a way to make a livin' Barely gettin' by, it's all takin' and no givin'” Dolly Parton, the country singer, actress, and businesswoman, died peacefully at her home in Nashville, Tennessee on Tuesday. She was 80 years old. Known as the Queen of Country, the singer-songwriter is among one of the best-selling music artists of all time.  She wrote and sang this song in 1974 which Whitney Houston would later famously cover.  PARTON: “And I will always love you I will always love you.” Parton grew up in a Pentecostal church and described herself as a person of faith.  PARTON: “My grandpa was a preacher. So, my grandpa pastored this little church called the House of Prayer. He was a very positive, uplifting person. And I learned to love Jesus, and learned that Jesus loved me when I was a little bitty kid. “And all those things that Mama used to say, you know, that through God all things are possible. I kept all those things kind of tucked away into my subconscious mind and in my heart. And those are the things that have helped me through the years. I never do anything that I don't pray about it, and I always ask God to lead me and to show me and direct me into what I'm doing.” She was married to her husband Carl Thomas Dean for nearly 60 years until his death in 2025. As a philanthropist, Parton supported children's literacy and medical research. Sadly, she was also known as an advocate for unbiblical causes like homosexual behavior and faux homosexual marriage.  Appearing with Larry King, she defended homosexuality. KING: “Didn't you recently, though, throw support to the [Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender] community?” PARTON: “Oh, I've always encouraged, not encouraged. They've made me the poster child I think only because I'm so outspoken as far as just being accepting of people in general.  “I do not believe that we should criticize and judge other people. I think we should be accepting and loving. We are all God's children. We are who we are, and we should allow, be allowed to be who we are.” Kate Newman, a Christian YouTuber, objected to Parton's bad theology, referencing John 1:12. NEWMAN: “We are not all children of God, contrary to popular belief. We receive the Spirit of adoption from God when we receive Jesus as our Lord and Savior, and we are led by His Holy Spirit. But until then, we're actually all children of the devil.” Larry King asked Dolly Parton this follow-up question. KING: “Did any of the faith-based communities that deeply believe the other way take umbrage with you?” PARTON: “Oh, absolutely. KING: “They did?” PARTON: “Oh, yes. I get it all the time. I keep saying, ‘Well, if you're the fine Christian that you think you are, why are you judging people? That's God's job. We're not God. We're not judges.' You know, we're supposed to love one another. We're supposed to not judge.  “If you're gay, you're gay. If you're straight, you're straight. And you should be allowed to be, you know, how how you are and who you are.” In 2024, Ericka Andersen wrote a column for The Federalist entitled “There's nothing loving about Dolly Parton's false gospel.” She argued that, “Parton's version of love, which includes condoning immoral sexual behavior  is unaligned with God's vision for humanity. Like so many secularized spiritual leaders, Parton equates love with agreement, but the two are not reciprocal. Love doesn't mean we must accept sinfulness as good to avoid hurting someone's feelings. “To be sure, the culture is on a constant witch hunt for those who would call homosexuality sinful. I understand wanting to avoid the avalanche of criticism, but calling sin out by name isn't judgment. It's adhering to Scripture. “She's right that all should be treated with love and kindness, but when we refuse to label sin a sin, we're doing more harm than good.  The gospel of Dolly Parton is popular with the masses, but don't bank your eternity on it.” Leviticus 18:22 says, “Do not have sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman; that is detestable.” Close And that's The Worldview on this Thursday, August 27th, in the year of our Lord 2026. About River Shannon River Shannon is a lawyer, a Soto Zen priest, and a deeply committed member of the queer and trans community she serves. River is the Manager of Legal Services at QMUNITY, where she provides legal support to queer, trans, and Two-Spirit people across British Columbia. QMUNITY's Legal Clinic offers free, low-barrier legal services and support around issues including human rights, employment, housing and tenancy, family law, name changes, and gender-marker changes. But River's work is about much more than the law. As a trans lawyer serving her own community, she understands something that can be difficult to capture in a legal file: what it means to enter a legal system carrying your identity, your history, your vulnerability, and sometimes your fear of being misunderstood. Her work creates a different possibility—one in which legal advocacy can also be an act of recognition, dignity, relationship, and care. River is also a Soto Zen priest in the lineage of Shunryu Suzuki Roshi. She received priest ordination in October 2023 from Myoshin Kate McCandless, a guiding teacher of Mountain Rain Zen Community in Vancouver. Her writing explores the intersection of Zen practice, transition, identity, impermanence, compassion, and what it means to live as a whole person. That combination of lawyer, trans woman, community advocate, and Zen practitioner makes River's perspective particularly powerful. There is a thread running through all of this work: how do we meet people where they are, with compassion, and help create the conditions for them to become more fully themselves? In this conversation, we talk about law and community, trans identity and belonging, the importance of being seen by the people who serve us, and what it means to practice law with humility, care, compassion, and love. River's work reminds us that legal practice does not have to be separate from humanity. Sometimes, the most transformative legal work begins simply with saying: I see you. I understand you. You don't have to go through this on your own.  About QMUNITY's Legal Clinic QMUNITY's Legal Clinic provides free, low-barrier legal services to 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals and families throughout British Columbia. The 2021 Canadian Census was the first national census to collect gender identity separately from sex assigned at birth. Among people aged 15 and older living in private households, 100,815 people identified as transgender or non-binary—about 0.33% of the population. Statistics Canada and the federal government note that this may be an underestimate because some people may not have felt comfortable disclosing their gender identity. (Canada) Legal problems are also disproportionately common. A Canadian Justice Department review of research on trans people's legal needs found that 71% of trans respondents in one Ontario study had experienced at least one legal problem in the previous three years, compared with 48% of the general population. These problems included discrimination, employment, housing, healthcare, police interactions, family matters, immigration, and other areas of law. (Ministère de la Justice) And while Canada has made important legal advances—including explicit human-rights protections based on gender identity—legal protection does not necessarily mean equal access to justice or equal treatment within legal systems. Ric Bucher opens this episode of On The Ball by addressing the backlash to his recent WNBA commentary — including criticism from former ESPN colleague Jemele Hill — and explains why he believes social-media outrage routinely turns nuanced arguments into something they were never intended to be.Then comes the bigger NBA issue: Are teams still being constructed primarily to win championships? The four-team trade sending Peyton Watson from the Denver Nuggets to the Cleveland Cavaliers is the latest example of why Ric believes instant NBA trade grades are nearly worthless. Denver didn't lose Watson because it suddenly decided he wasn't worth keeping. His new contract would've pushed the Nuggets' luxury-tax bill from roughly $68 million to more than $220 million. The real mistake, Ric argues, came years earlier, when organizational dysfunction between former coach Michael Malone and GM Calvin Booth squandered precious seasons of Nikola Jokic's prime.Ric applies the same long-term test to the Celtics' Jaylen Brown trade, the Clippers' acquisition of Max Strus, and other moves increasingly dictated by the NBA's punitive second apron. The result? Instead of asking how Denver can put another championship roster around Jokic, fans are left discussing tax bills, cap sheets and whether Jokic eventually needs to leave. But the money isn't the only thing changing the league. Ric examines the transformation of NBA ownership from locally rooted businessmen who viewed players as employees into globally connected billionaires who may see franchise ownership as membership in an exclusive social club — with superstar players becoming prized relationships as much as prized employees. That shift, he argues, has changed the balance of power among owners, stars, agents and even the reporters who cover them.Has the modern NBA become better at creating billionaires than creating champions?00:00 — Welcome to On The Ball01:15 — Why Ric changed the show's introduction02:20 — Responding to the backlash over the WNBA episode03:13 — Jemele Hill's criticism and what Ric actually said04:49 — The question about WNBA broadcast diversity05:15 — Lynx-Valkyries and the problem with “safe” commentary07:15 — Transgender athletes and what Ric says his argument actually was09:01 — Men's scout teams, women's basketball and competitive advantage10:12 — Peyton Watson traded: why Denver's return isn't the real story11:32 — Why Ric says NBA trade grades are “worthless”12:16 — Why Denver couldn't afford Watson's $88 million deal13:00 — The real Nuggets failure: Malone, Booth and wasted Jokic years14:15 — How close Denver may have been to more championships15:08 — Why Jokic's best championship window may already have been squandered15:52 — Cleveland's tax savings and the contradiction in grading the trade16:45 — Denver's real grade: wasting two prime Jokic seasons16:59 — Jalen Brown to Philadelphia: why that trade can't be graded yet18:19 — Boston's squandered opportunities with Brown and Tatum18:41 — Clippers get Max Strus — but what's their actual plan?19:57 — Giannis, Jokic, Steph and the Clippers' possible 2027 strategy20:25 — The NBA's second apron is changing the purpose of trades21:00 — Denver's “yard sale” and why Jokic departure talk is inevitable21:51 — Jalen Brunson's sacrifice vs. what Jokic may eventually face22:43 — How a new generation of NBA owners changed the league23:37 — Are NBA teams becoming billionaire status symbols?24:07 — From employees to “wingmen”: how owners now view superstars25:03 — Steve Ballmer, Kawhi Leonard and modern owner-player relationships25:28 — How agents and NBA newsbreakers became intertwined26:36 — Why losing old-school owners like Jeanie Buss matters27:27 — What disappearing local ownership means for NBA fans27:40 — Closing thoughts#NBA #NikolaJokic #DenverNuggets #PeytonWatson #ClevelandCavaliers #BostonCeltics #JalenBrown #WNBA #JemeleHill #JeanieBuss #Lakers #NBATrades #OnTheBall #RicBucherSupport this show http://supporter.acast.com/bucher-and-friends. In our third episode in the Beyond Polarization series, we talk to two inspiring creators who are bridging the political divide on podcasts, YouTube, and even Instagram!  Think about an issue that you're passionate about. Imagine sitting in a room with someone just as passionate as you, but on the polar opposite side of that issue. Now, imagine your conversation is being recorded and will be streamed online. What do you think would happen in that room? Our first guest this episode is a content creator who brings Americans with deeply opposing views together and streams the conversations on YouTube. But he's doing things differently. Larry Rosen is an attorney, a mediator and the host of The Enemies Project, a series where enemies – people who are polar opposites on an issue –  participate in a conversation facilitated by Rosen. Some of the pairs featured include a transgender woman and a right-wing gender fundamentalist, a Black protester and a white police officer, and activists from both sides of the abortion debate. Over the course of an hour, the shift in the way the “enemies” feel about each other is dramatic and quite moving to watch. Our next guest widens the lens, asking how we can cultivate that same spirit of curiosity across a broader culture. Monica Guzman is a journalist, and public bridge builder. She's a host of A Braver Way, a podcast that looks for practical ways to bridge political divides in everyday life, and the author of I Never Thought of It That Way: How to Have Fearlessly Curious Conversations in Dangerously Divided Times. Much of Guzman's bridge-building work happens through online media, including podcasts and social media. We ask her what it takes to do this work on digital platforms that often reward conflict more than consensus. We speak about what bridge builders can and can't accomplish in that environment and how political conversations online might be shifting. Listen to our earlier conversation with Monica Guzman, recorded just after the 2024 presidential election.  ABOUT THE SHOW The Making Peace Visible podcast is hosted by Jamil Simon and produced by Andrea Muraskin. In this episode of Verdict with Ted Cruz, Senator Ted Cruz explains his decision to delete a prior episode after learning that an 82% miscarriage statistic tied to COVID vaccination claims was inaccurate. Ted and Ben discuss the underlying study, the subsequent correction, and their view that public officials should be held accountable for contradictory public and private statements. The discussion then turns to election integrity, voter registration policies in Minnesota, and a series of Democratic candidates running in Senate races across the country. The hosts examine positions on immigration, gender-related healthcare policies, abortion, religion, and campaign strategy, arguing that these races reveal significant ideological divisions heading into the election season. A correction to a widely discussed COVID vaccine statistic leads Ted Cruz to explain why a previous episode was removed and outlines the data issues behind a claim about miscarriage rates following vaccination during pregnancy. He argues that accuracy matters and walks listeners through the study, the criticism it received, and why the specific figure cited could not be supported. The conversation then shifts to the 2026 election landscape, with a focus on several Democratic Senate candidates and the policy positions that Ted Cruz and Ben Ferguson describe as part of a broader ideological shift within the Democratic Party. Topics Covered: Correction and removal of a previous episode citing an inaccurate COVID vaccine miscarriage statistic Debate over public and private statements from Anthony Fauci regarding pregnancy-related vaccine concerns Minnesota voter registration and voter-vouching policies discussed through undercover reporting by James O'Keefe Senate candidate debates involving immigration, healthcare, and gender-related medical policies Arguments surrounding late-term abortion legislation and public opinion on abortion policy Religion, faith, and political messaging in several high-profile Senate campaigns The Bottom Line: According to Ted Cruz, correcting factual errors is essential to maintaining credibility, even when the broader argument remains unchanged. He and Ben Ferguson also contend that several Democratic Senate candidates represent a significantly more progressive ideological direction ahead of the upcoming elections. 8/10/26 - WNBA's Transgender Athlete Debate: The Only Color That Matters Is Green

    Mark Levin Podcast

Play Episode Listen Later Aug 11, 2026 110:27

On Monday's Mark Levin Show, political correctness is running amok in the WNBA. There are two issues facing the WNBA: transgender athletes and racism. A small fraction of athletes - transgenders - are threatening to destroy opportunities for biological women and girls. This is not a civil rights issue. Women have fought for 50 years for equality in sports. That doesn't mean men and women are the same. It means women and girls have the opportunity to flourish in athletics. It's time to make a decision: will a relatively handful of individuals destroy the purpose of a women's sports league? Or will the overwhelmingly biological female athletes compete on a level playing field. The WNBA is a business and the hierarchy and players should treat it as such. The only color that should matter is the color of money: green. Whether it's the men's NBA or the WNBA, people want to see the best athletes, regardless of color. Then, President Trump called out the democratic socialist and jihadist candidates for their radicalism and craziness. They want to eliminate the Senate, Supreme Court, police, military, etc. No other president would talk this way. Also, AOC says she has frozen her eggs. Why the need to announce it? Some things you keep private. She also talked about Francesca Hong, a far-left DSA running for governor of Wisconsin. AOC hedged her bet, saying all politics are local, woke one was crazy she says, and we have to assess what a candidate is saying now. AOC and other leading Democrats aren't endorsing Hong because they think she won't win and want to keep losses to a minimum. As far as Abdul El-Sayed, she's excited, saying it's a time of renewal for the Democratic party. Then, Bernie Sanders knows Hong can't win in Wisconsin. He was asked why he doesn't endorse her if her positions line up with his and he fell back on the old, tired trope: tax the rich.  El-Sayed says he differs with Bernie on capitalism, saying we live under "corporatism." El-Sayed is a jihadist, an Islamist, and a bald-faced liar. Finally, in defense of AIPAC: El-Sayed complained they plan to spend $3.8 million against him next week. The Dems are making AIPAC - and Israel - the defining issues of the midterm elections. El-Sayed says the money the U.S. sends to Israel should be spent here on healthcare, etc. Facts: the U.S. spent $7 Trillion last year. Israel received $3.8 billion...in other words, five one-hundredths of 1% of total federal spending. In return, the U.S. gets an indispensable ally. AIPAC is an American organization serving American interests. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

Iris is back, and apparently we chose peace by discussing democratic socialism, Zionism, the war involving Iran, Israel and Palestine, Republican unity, Democratic dysfunction, and growing trans fatigue on the left. So, naturally, a very relaxing episode. We dig into the Democratic Socialists of America, what democratic socialism means in practice, and the controversy surrounding Michigan Representative Haley Stevens. We also examine why Republicans remain so effective at closing ranks and advancing their agenda, even when that agenda is cruel, incoherent or wildly unpopular, while Democrats continue treating internal disagreement like an Olympic event. Then we enter far more difficult territory: Zionism, Israel, Palestine and the broader conflict in the Middle East. We condemn the dehumanization and destruction of Palestinian civilians while also confronting the violence, extremism and political failures that make honest discussion of Israel and Palestine nearly impossible. There are no spotless institutions or easy heroes here. Finally, we discuss “trans fatigue” on the political left. Not fatigue with transgender people or trans rights, but frustration created by a specific, highly visible subset of online activists whose rhetoric, purity tests and refusal to tolerate disagreement can alienate potential allies. Republicans have weaponized that tension with brutal effectiveness, while Democrats remain seemingly incapable of defending trans people without either surrendering the conversation or pretending no internal problems exist. In this episode:• Democratic Socialists and the DSA• Haley Stevens and divisions within the Democratic Party• Why Republicans are better at party unity• Democratic infighting and ideological purity tests• Zionism, Israel, Palestine and civilian suffering• The war involving Iran and the danger of further escalation• Republican cruelty, propaganda and political discipline• Trans rights, online activism and “trans fatigue” on the left• Why difficult conversations are necessary, even when everyone becomes furiousContent note: This episode includes frank discussion of war, civilian deaths, antisemitism, Islamophobia, Zionism, trans politics and political extremism.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/we-saw-the-devil-unfiltered-political-analysis--4433638/support.Website: http://www.wesawthedevil.comPatreon: http://www.patreon.com/wesawthedevilRobin's Instagram: http://www.instagram.com/robin_wstdTwitter: http://www.twitter.com/WeSawtheDevilInstagram: http://www.instagram.com/wesawthedevilpodcast.TikTok: tiktok.com/@wesawthedevilpolitics
