**Operation BBQ Relief Serves Up Hope in Disaster-Stricken Areas** - Osprey Observer Podcast

Operation BBQ Relief (OBR), a nonprofit organization started by competitive barbecue chefs, steps up to meet that need, providing hot, comforting meals to people affected by natural disasters. The story of OBR began in 2011 after a massive tornado hit Joplin, Missouri. Founders, including co-founder Will Cleaver, saw an opportunity to put their skills to work, showing up with equipment and a small team of volunteers. They initially planned to serve a few thousand meals but ended up distributing over 120,000 meals in just 12 days, Cleaver recalls. This experience laid the foundation for an organization that today operates on a national scale, with a network of volunteers and partners across the country. From that first deployment, OBR has grown dramatically, having served 12 million meals in the years since. In a recent deployment in Florida, following Hurricane Melton, OBR hit the milestone of delivering 1 million meals to disaster survivors in just two weeks. With massive smokers that can cook up to 160 pork shoulders at once, OBR operates on a scale unimaginable to most, using commercial-grade equipment and an efficient, organized setup to serve up to 15,000 meals a day. "To hand someone a hot barbecue meal and see the smile on their face—it's incredibly rewarding," Cleaver shared in a recent interview on the Osprey Observer TV podcast. "Our volunteers don't just show up; they're self-sufficient, coming in with everything needed to be a support, not a burden, to the local community.” The logistical operation behind these meals is as impressive as the numbers. Volunteers can order meals for relief workers or distribution, with a simple, organized pickup process in place. Meals are ordered by quantity, coordinated, and picked up at central locations for quick, easy distribution to those who need them most. This process, combined with the team's preparation ahead of storms, enables them to provide critical, timely relief. Cleaver urges the public to get involved, whether by signing up as a volunteer, making donations, or even simply sharing their story. OBR relies heavily on financial support and partnerships, which allow them to secure and prepare meals on a large scale. "Every share, every donation, helps us reach more people in need," Cleaver says, emphasizing the power of community in making OBR's mission possible. To learn more about OBR's work and get involved, check out the full interview on the Osprey Observer TV podcast on YouTube and other major podcast platforms. Whether through donations, volunteer work, or simply helping spread the word, every contribution helps OBR continue its mission of feeding those in need when disaster strikes.Website: http://ospreyobserver.com https://www.facebook.com/OspreyObserverFans/ https://www.instagram.com/ospreyobserver/https://twitter.com/ospreyobserver

Known for assisting families facing critical illnesses and life-altering events, the nonprofit redirected its efforts to provide immediate relief for hurricane survivors, answering urgent calls for help in the Brandon and Riverview areas. According to Liz Brewer, president of the Angel Foundation, the group acted quickly to meet the community's needs. “I literally said a prayer and asked, ‘What can we do in this community?'” Brewer said on a recent episode of the Osprey Observer TV podcast. Within 24 hours, her team organized a relief event at The Regent in Riverview, where they distributed hot meals, meal kits, cleanup supplies, and even disaster relief assistance, working with partners such as Operation BBQ Relief, Feeding Tampa Bay, and local organizations. The foundation's relief efforts offered more than just food; they provided a space where residents could access critical supplies, including clothes, gift cards, and personal essentials. “The families that came in had literally lost everything,” Brewer said. In just one day, volunteers gave out more than 500 hot meals and distributed essentials that had been in scarce supply in the aftermath of the storms. As Brewer emphasized, the foundation is committed to easing the long-term recovery process. “We don't go through a lot of red tape,” she explained. “We want to get the gift cards and resources into the hands of these families as quickly as possible.” In addition to immediate aid, the Angel Foundation aims to support those facing financial hardships as they continue to rebuild. The Angel Foundation relies heavily on community support. Volunteers and donations are essential for continuing its work, Brewer noted. "People can visit our website, AngelFoundationFL.com, to learn how to get involved,” she added, encouraging the community to donate or sign up as volunteers. For a closer look at how the Angel Foundation is impacting lives and to learn how to help, watch the full interview with Liz Brewer on the Osprey Observer TV podcast on YouTube and other major platforms.Website: http://ospreyobserver.com https://www.facebook.com/OspreyObserverFans/ https://www.instagram.com/ospreyobserver/https://twitter.com/ospreyobserver

To this day, no one knows for sure what happened to baby Sabrina. Then, Kenzie talks about the most mysterious solved murder case of the 20th century. The media dubbed it the Babes of the Woods Murders to refer to a child murder case in which the bodies of three girls were found in Pennsylvania woodland. Vine Vegan - OUR STORY FOOD IS MY LOVE LANGUAGE My greatest relationships and bonds have been forged with an abundance of food cultivated with love and care. Every gathering with friends and family; always a feast. Breaking bread together, sharing laughs, and stories is how I've always made deep and meaningful connections with people. No greater joy exists for me than to have my house full of people (family, friends, strangers; literally anyone) and for them to eat a meal I made and leave feeling the love I poured into preparing it. In My Family Food = Love I learned to cook from the most important and influential people in my life; my mom, dad, and grandmother. My family's journey to veganism was quick and mostly seamless, and rewarding in all the ways. As we swapped our chicken for tofu and our ground beef for lentils; I knew that with every meal, I was impacting the livelihood of animals and our planet. I was setting up myself, my husband, and our children for a healthier future. With every non-vegan friend or family member who marveled over my plant-based delicacies, I knew I could make a difference if more people could enjoy them. I am determined to set a strong example for my kids to have empathy and compassion for the world around us. To hope others will join us, even if just a few plant-based meals a week. As a daughter of a Latino and a Brit, who was born in Hawaii, raised in Europe, and an American through-and through; I was sure to balance everything by connecting my heritage and life experiences when creating the Vine Vegan menu. With this in my heart and support from my family and friends, I bring you vegan dishes that I hope will blow your mind. This is my mission: to bring people together over food, capture the culture of community, and use ridiculously delicious vegan food to do it. I welcome all who are curious, or defiant, or courageous. We want you to eat well and feel good about what you eat. And with every spoonful I hope there to be love, compassion, and open-mindedness. With Love, Danielle Stevens eat@vinevegan.com Plants for Pets has a program where adoption flyers are attached to all take out orders to promote adoption. She has an adoption wall of all the adoptions made through this program. Vine Vegan is the only plant-based eatery in Brandon! Serving coffees, breakfast, lunch, dinner, & weekend brunch. Email: eat@vinevegan.com Phone: 813-939-8463 Address: 2080 Badlands Dr. Brandon, FL 33511https://vinevegan.com/contact/

He has championship experience, he is one of the nation's top recruiters, and he has fostered a culture of mental and physical toughness in the secondary at every stop of his career. Coach Addae is a tremendous addition to our program, and I know he will make his impact felt on our defensive identity.” Addae's secondary ranked No. 13 in the nation in pass defense in 2021, allowing just 190 passing yards per game. The Bulldogs ranked second nationally in passing efficiency defense and picked off 16 passes, which was the eighth-best mark in the country. In addition, the Bulldogs were No. 1 in scoring defense, No. 1 in red zone defense and No. 2 in total defense. “I'm excited. A lot of people have talked about bringing The U back,” Addae said upon his hiring. “I like to think of it as, The U never left. It's more about doing our diligence and making sure we're developing the caliber of players that people are used to here at the University of Miami. “I'm super excited to be here. I remember playing against Miami when they were on a 34-game winning streak. It was Ken Dorsey, Andre Johnson, Bryant McKinnie…all the big names that we know. Those were some daunting teams. You walked out on that field and you felt the presence of those guys. That is what we're trying to bring back. How do you do that? Win football games and develop talent.” A native of Valrico, Fla., Jahmile in 2020 led a passing defense at West Virginia that ranked first nationally in Fewest Passing Yards Allowed at 159.6 yards per game. The Mountaineers, who capped their season by beating Army in the AutoZone Liberty Bowl, finished fourth in the country in Total Defense (283.5 y/g) and tallied 11 interceptions that they returned 112 yards. In his first year at WVU, he coached two All-Big 12 Conference selections in Keith Washington II and Josh Norwood and freshman All-American Tykee Smith. Washington II finished with a team-leading three interceptions and a team-tying nine pass breakups for 12 passes defended, ranking No. 23 nationally. Hakeem Bailey tied Washington II for the team lead with nine pass breakups, ranking No. 9 in the Big 12. Smith was second on the team in interceptions with two, including one he returned for a touchdown against Iowa State. A former Mountaineer all-conference safety, Addae returned to WVU in January 2019, after serving as the defensive backs coach and assisting with several special teams' phases at Minnesota in 2018. His punt return unit finished No. 1 in the nation (22.3 yards per return), punt return defense was No. 2 (1.11 y/r) and the kickoff return unit finished No. 26 nationally (23.4 y/r). Prior to Minnesota, Addae spent five years at Arizona, coaching the defensive backs in 2016-17 and serving as an analyst from 2013-15. Addae developed a youthful defensive secondary into some of the team's top performers. In 2017, Lorenzo Burns, Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles, Scottie Young and Jace Whittaker combined for 261 tackles, 24 pass breakups and 12 interceptions. In 2010-11, Addae was the running backs coach at Cincinnati, where he mentored All-Big East Second-Team selection Isaiah Pead. Pead rushed for 1,029 yards, ranking No. 1 in the conference and in the top-10 nationally in yards per carry (6.6 yards per carry). Pead averaged 93.6 yards per game and was Cincinnati's first 1,000-yard rusher in almost a decade and at the time, the Bearcats' seventh player to hit the mark. Addae was recognized by Rivals.com as one of the top-10 recruiters in the Big East Conference. Before coaching the Bearcats, Addae served as Cincinnati's Director of Player Development. He also managed many of the team's off-thefield responsibilities, including the Cats In The Community program. Prior to his time at Cincinnati, he was a defensive graduate assistant at Michigan, where he worked with the Wolverines' secondary and scout team offense. After graduating from WVU in 2006, Addae was a graduate assistant in the football video department at West Virginia. Addae was a four-year starter, two-time captain and two-time All-Big East defensive back for the Mountaineers. Addae, who is tied for the WVU record for most pass breakups in a game (five, Rutgers, 2002), finished his WVU career with 253 tackles, including 152 solo stops and 25 pass breakups, ranking No. 5 in program history. He also ranks No. 3 in single-season pass breakups with 16 during the 2002 season. Addae was selected for the Senior Bowl in 2006 and participated in the NFL Combine. He signed a free agent contract with his hometown Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2006 and spent the end of the season with the Indianapolis Colts. Addae, and his wife, Maryann, have three sons, Agyeman, Ayden and Amaree.

Pastor Bryant is the Lead Pastor at Centerpoint Church in Valrico, Fl. Pastor Nicole is a Teaching Pastor at Centerpoint Church. Together, they have a bold passion for ministering the word of God, encouraging others to see Jesus by welcoming all who will enter, allowing the name and love of Jesus to speak for itself. Today, they're speaking out on how mental illness affected their lives in such a drastic way they never saw coming—yet, giving praise and glory to God for His loving mercy. Now a Mental Health Advocate, Pastor Nicole takes you through her side of the story and the daily struggles with mental illness. The Lord graciously walked with her every step of the way, revealing sections of her heart and soul that needed healing. After seeking help and guidance through Godly friends, ministers, and health professionals, she shared her testimony in 2018 for the first time. Pastor Nicole learned many people are experiencing the same trials. She ultimately discovered she was not alone at all. Jesus reminded her that He was there the entire time. Sharing a journey they never dreamed of, they saw the love of Jesus and would not change it for the world. Pastors Bryant and Nicole have learned that God's plan may not be to heal them entirely until they reach heaven, but they can live a healthy lifestyle, sharing their story with hopes they will impact the lives of others for the Kingdom of God.  To learn more about Centerpoint Church with Pastors Bryant and Nicole Golden, visit www.centerpointchurch.org. We're reaching a lost, broken, and hurting generation for the love of Jesus. Upon leaving the orphanages, so many children feel stuck and alone in their circumstances, suffering from mental illness and abandonment, that they turn to the false hope of the human traffickers. We have a village of homes in Moldova called Vatra Village and a house in Ukraine where we take in these children. By God's grace, together, we are helping to restore a sense of purpose, healing, and renewed hope to these once abandoned souls. Our kids have a bold desire to minister and reach those who have lost hope. Through the love of Jesus and their transparency, God is restoring their lives to freedom! Bikes For Christ was started in 2016 with a commitment to helping those in need while also sharing the love of God. Our organization has quickly grown to encompass providing transportation across Hillsborough, Pinellas, Polk and Pasco Counties with a mission to one day be nationwide. By showing God's love through providing bicycles for those in need, we hope to lead them to a life in His eternal kingdom. For several years Patrick (Pat) Simmons was trying to figure out how he could combine his passion for cycling with a cause that could really make a difference in people's lives. At the time he couldn't seem to come up with something that really had purpose, but all that changed after a trip with his church, First Baptist Dover, to Nicaragua in June 2015. He got to see poverty up close and personal and what it was like to live with very little. After he returned, he decided to get involved with his church in helping feed the homeless once a month at Amazing Love Ministries in Ybor City. Pat enjoyed it so much that he started going every week to help feed. He then got involved with a few other organizations that helped feed the homeless and needy and it was at this point he knew that he could do more. There was a real need for transportation for those who were really trying to better themselves and Pat knew he could help. Bikes for Christ was born in March 2016. With just some simple postings on Facebook and Craigslist seeking used bicycles, donations started pouring in. Currently Bikes For Christ receives donations from across four counties and redistributes them through other charitable organizations who work directly with clients and are able to “vet them out” to determine who really has a need. The organization has also expanded to help veterans and seniors with their commutes. Children are also a priority. As Pat states “every kid deserves a bike.” The most important part in all of this is that those who receive bikes know that someone loves and cares for them. “Through giving we show love, and it's the same love and compassion that Jesus showed us” Pat says. With every bicycle, a Bible goes along with it. “It's the handbook that gets us through this life and into heaven to spend with God for all eternity.”

Daily Faith With Philip D Cameron

On Daily Faith, our guest is Pastor Bryant Golden. He is the lead pastor of Centerpoint Church in Valrico, Fl, and is the founder and host of Unfiltered Radio in Central Florida. Many years ago, the Lord birthed a vision in his heart to replant an older church that his father had planted long before. It has now been ten years since that vision, and Centerpoint Church is thriving. Pastor Golden wanted to create a safe environment within their community for people of all ages and backgrounds to see Jesus differently. His heart for the church is to be a sanctuary, hospital, and a place of worship, to help all who are weary to come and find rest in Jesus, transformed by His love. Pastor Golden wants to help you see the Lord amid your circumstances and the decisions that you have to make. Many people struggle with mental illnesses, isolation, and fear. Pastor Golden would like to share how his family overcame tough decisions and their struggles with mental illness, and in the midst of all of this, how God's grace was made sufficient for them. God's power is made perfect in our weakness, and that allows Him to come into our hearts and do what only He can do. Don't allow the voices of the enemy to keep you isolated from the guilt and shame of your past. We may never fully understand God's reasoning, but we know that helping others in need is when true healing can begin when we reach out with honesty. If you are struggling with any form of illness, please reach out for help today. For more information about Centerpoint Church in Valrico, Fl, please visit centerpointfl.org or get your free copy of Bryant Golden's e-book; please see bryantgolden.org.   For those who are not aware, the heart of our ministry is in Moldova. It's one of the poorest countries in Eastern Europe, with many deaths lead by alcohol abuse. In this tiny, impoverished country, many children have been sent to grow up in an orphanage because they are unwanted and could not be cared for. They grow up without the love of a family and, when they turn sixteen, are sent back to the places where they came from, without any support, leaving them subject to human trafficking. Vatra Village is our ministry of homes that help to rescue these once lost and abandoned children. They become sons and daughters of Christ who have now turned into missionaries to their friends left behind in the orphanage. Once isolated by mental illness and the fears of identity, they have discovered what God's grace can do in their hearts, how God's love brought healing, hope, and joy in their lives. Thank you for your kind prayers and diligent support. For more information about The Orphans Hands ministry, please visit theorphanshands.org.

Its location at 619 Vonderburg Drive Brandon offers residents of eastern Hillsborough County the convenience of a centrally located cultural, educational, and social facility. Center Place is located in Brandon, approximately fifteen minutes from downtown Tampa. Tremendous growth in Eastern Hillsborough County established a need for a centrally located regional library. Center Place was able to provide the ideal location by donating three acres of land in the heart of Brandon to the county. The county, in turn, constructed a unique facility which houses both Center Place and the regional library. The library/cultural center is unique in being the first documented facility of this type in Florida, made possible through the cooperation of the private sector and the county government. Through this cooperative effort, residents of Eastern Hillsborough County enjoy the convenience of a centrally located educational and cultural facility. Although complementary in nature, Center Place and the library remain autonomous in operation. Center Place includes a 300 seat auditorium, the Phillip G. Mook Gallery, and art workshop rooms.

Two hundred Mexico Beach, Florida homes sitting beach block from the Gulf of Mexico, yet labeled X-Zone, FEMA's lowest risk for flooding, were nearly wiped out by 2018's Hurricane Michael.  Many of those residents had no flood insurance, complicating which damage from the Category 5 storm may or may not be covered by their homeowners insurance. In fact, 80% of flood losses in the Florida Panhandle were uninsured.  Yet, there's just a trickle of greater demand for flood insurance post-storm.   Mexico Beach is fighting back with a tough new ordinance to counter the complacency created in residents by FEMA's inaccurate and outdated maps. Host Lisa Miller, a former deputy insurance commissioner, talks with two residents and an insurance agent about the impact of the new ordinance and how agents could be doing more to promote increasingly affordable flood coverage to their clients.Show NotesFEMA flood maps for Mexico Beach were last revised in 2009 but were based on a maximum storm surge of 10 feet.  Hurricane Michael produced a 15.5 foot storm surge plus 5-foot waves topping the surge, when it made landfall there on October 10, 2018.  The maps are used to identify which properties must have flood insurance to meet federal mortgage requirements and to set rates for those policies.Only one-third of Bay County, home to Mexico Beach and some of the worst damage in the 13-county impact zone, had National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) policies.   Dina Bautista didn't have flood insurance, but was one of the lucky ones.  Her Mexico Beach home was built on 12-foot pilings, the only one in her neighborhood.  “Every neighbor had water up to their roof,” she said.Yet despite the devastation, few Bay County residents have learned the lesson from Michael.  “I get the speech of ‘I've been in this house fifty years and never flooded' quite a bit,” said Trey Hutt, owner of Hutt Insurance Agency in nearby Panama City.  “What these mostly elderly people don't get is that in those intervening 50 years, we've poured a lot of asphalt and concrete all around them, and that water is going somewhere.  And every neighbor is now building higher than that original home, and water always runs downhill.”Melissa Poage became concerned walking around her Valrico, Florida neighborhood after a recent hard rainstorm and noticing a waterline almost up to front doorsteps.  She said her insurance agent had never discussed purchasing flood insurance with her.  Her entire neighborhood is in an X-Zone, defined as being at risk of a 1 in 500 year flood event, which equates to a 0.2% chance every year of being flooded.  “So I bought flood insurance and it was very reasonably priced, it's not expensive,” she said. Hutt, a 25 year insurance veteran, said people don't understand the true meaning of an X-Zone.“In our agency over the years, we've paid an awful lot more flood claims in X-Zones than we have in other zones.  An X-Zone does not equal ‘we will not flood', it just means it's less likely to flood than a Special Flood Hazard Area,” he said.Since Hurricane Opal in 1995, Hutt said his agency has aggressively offered flood policies with homeowners policies (which don't cover most flood damage).   Those customers who choose not to purchase it have to sign a form acknowledging that.  “A flood rejection form has become a part of a lot of agencies' tool kits,” he said. Both Hutt and Poage agree that it should be mandatory for insurance agents to “make the call” and offer customers flood insurance.  “I'm in favor of putting pressure on fellow agents to not only recommend flood insurance but we need to be able to prove that we've recommended it to a client, otherwise we might face legal action after a big storm such as Michael,” Hutt said.Bautista is an engineer with Dewberry Engineering and along with being a resident herself, serves as the consulting engineer for the city of Mexico Beach.  Within weeks after surveying Michael's devastation from both the 160 mph winds and 20.6 foot peak water level, city officials adopted a tough new floodplain ordinance that goes above and beyond FEMA flood maps. The ordinance affects rebuilding of homes that suffered substantial damage (greater than 50% structural damage) from Michael and all new construction:   Incorporated a preliminary draft of a new flood map that FEMA had been developing before Michael, even though the map itself is not yet in effect; Incorporated the map's shaded X-Zones as part of the city's more restrictive Special Hazard Flood Area with regard to construction standards; and Required all such rebuilding and new construction of properties in Zones A, AE, and shaded X, to raise their finished floor 18 inches above FEMA's 1 in 500 year flood event elevation. “We're trying to pick up the insurance gap and protect the residents,” Bautista explained.  “Most of them may not buy or be required to buy flood insurance in the zone they're in, but through our ordinance and the actual construction, we're trying to minimize their risk for future damage.”While such building code changes are not occurring in the rest of Bay County, Hutt said more private flood insurance companies are selling coverage alongside or in competition with the NFIP.  Florida's private market has been steadily growing with the number of companies more than doubling in the past two years.“We're finding these products are based on better data.  They're often less expensive and they are almost always better coverage,” Hutt said.  “The long-term solution is to get flood insurance priced more accurately.   Since it's been driven by political forces more than profitability, NFIP rates are artificially suppressed, and what that does is just encourage people to borrow money and build homes where they frankly might not or should be doing,” he said. The podcast discussion also included the potential for Increased Cost of Compliance (ICC) insurance coverage or FEMA hazard mitigation grants to help homeowners pay for construction required in tougher building ordinances, such as those in Mexico Beach.  Private insurance companies offering both homeowners, wind, and flood coverage on the same policy would also simplify the process.Host Lisa Miller, a former deputy insurance commissioner, commended Mexico Beach officials for their leadership in building greater resiliency into the city's recovery.  “You're completely revolutionizing the new construction and rebuilding of the area in an attempt to withstand Mother Nature the next time.  That's very smart and helpful,” Miller said.Links and Resources Mentioned in this EpisodeDefinitions of FEMA Flood Zone Designations Majority of Michael Flood Victims Uninsured (LMA Newsletter of July 29, 2019)www.dewberry.comwww.huttinsurance.comPrivate Flood Insurance & Resilience (from Lisa Miller & Associates)Flood Follies (The Florida Insurance Roundup podcast, episode 16, December 16, 2018)Coastal communities should exercise caution in using FEMA Flood Maps as the primary indicator of coastal risk (by Dr. Rob Young, Director, Program for the Study of Developed Shorelines at Western Carolina University, and guest on the Flood Follies podcast)** The Listener Call-In Line for your recorded questions and comments to air in future episodes is 850-388-8002 or you may send email to LisaMiller@LisaMillerAssociates.com **The Florida Insurance Roundup from Lisa Miller & Associates, brings you the latest developments in Property & Casualty, Healthcare, Workers' Compensation, and Surplus Lines insurance from around the Sunshine State.  Based in the state capital of Tallahassee, Lisa Miller & Associates provides its clients with focused, intelligent, and cost conscious solutions to their business development, government consulting, and public relations needs.  On the web at www.LisaMillerAssociates.com or call 850-222-1041.  Your questions, comments, and suggestions are welcome!  Date of Recording 10/29/19.
